Post by: ChiBitCTy on October 07, 2022, 10:24:33 PM
VOTING IS NOW LIVE- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5419254.0

Contest # 2 Voting- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5419367.0

Welcome to the first annual Bitcointalk bitcoin pumpkin carving contest!

(courtesy of xSlyy)

Based on the feedback I received here, it seems we've got enough interest to make this fun! ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5415632.0 )

Rules - The only rule is that your creation has to include some sort of pumpkin, gourd, squash or something of that ilk.  If you want to incorporate 3D printed stuff, NFT's, coins, whatever, all the better!  There will only be one entry per person (but this can include a bulk of items together (i.e. a 3 pumpkin set with a drawing next to it, for example).

All entries must be accompanied by proof of work, which means you must include something like your username and the date on a piece of paper next to your entry.

No AI programs for contest #2

Have fun with this! I know if you have kids this is something I'm sure they'd enjoy doing with you, as well as getting to eat the salted & baked pumpkin seeds at the end (yum!).  Please also share this with others outside of the collectibles board.  Everyone is welcome to compete!

Contest Start Date: Right Now

Contest End Date: Halloween Day, October 31st

How will the winner be picked?: There will be a poll ran from Oct 31st to Nov 3rd.  I'm not 100% sure how I will run it, but will try and get some feedback from the community on how to most fairly do so.  Please chime in if you have any ideas!

Prizes: 1st place receives everything shown below (plus more items to come, this is all I could get to easily today).  If there are enough entrants, I will include a 2nd place and maybe even a 3rd place prize as well.

—Contest #2 —

Due to many people not living somewhere where pumpkins are available, I’ve decided to create a second contest where the rules are to simply to create something Halloween/pumpkin bitcoin themed. This can be a 3D printed piece, a painting, digit art, NFT, painted pumpkin etc. Be creative! BUT, no AI generated stuff. You can submit such photos, but you will not be eligible for prizes.

Prizes: * Lealana donated a .01 Buyer Funded coin/wallet (as seen below) for this contest.

          *  .001 bitcoin to a wallet of your choosing.

Nice! Finally we have an official thread. I hope this will be spread out to everyone in the forum. The more, the merrier right?
If my carving skill sucks, I believe I can try some digital drawing.
@ChiBitCty, is that a valid entry though?

Picked up my pumpkins today  :)
Damn those are nice looking pumpkins and ideal for carving (from my limited experience with pumpkin carving, shape&look matters a lot). For some reason those type of pumpkins are kinda hard to find in my country as we don't really have tradition of pumpkin carving, but I'll do my best and if I find a couple of suitable ones, I will certainly join.

If my carving skill sucks, I believe I can try some digital drawing.
Imho, since this is bitcoin pumpkin carving contest only submissions with an actual carved pumpkin should count (OP mentioned that you could add drawing to that) otherwise this contest will be drowned in drawings, gifs, animations etc. But lets see what OP has to say about it.

I don't plan to join the contest, but it'd be exciting to see how other participant carve their pumpkin.

Prizes: 1st place receives everything shown below (plus more items to come, this is all I could get to easily today).

It'd be appreciated to mention security risks of using this hardware wallet. Personally i'd either use it as decoration or dissemble/terardown it for short review.

IMO, the only way to have somewhat fair results [without exposing our "true" identities] is through limiting the ones who can vote to certain groups of users [e.g. with the help of "BPIP (https://bpip.org/)", you can go with the top 100 in most active, trusted or recognized].

I might also join :)

Anyone who wants to be eligible to win the prizes must include an actual pumpkin/gourd. Trust me, mine will be terrible, so don’t worry, have fun with it!

I was going to let the winner know,  obviously I wrote the thread about it - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5414795.msg61002881#msg61002881. Many of us collectors collect everything from legit stuff to scams to wallets w/security risks. I would have never given this to the winner without letting them know about this (ie sending them my thread).

Hmmm. This is an interesting idea and thanks for sharing it, trying to figure out what’s best voting wise. Does that most recognized list update still to this day ?

Btw, you should definitely join!

Anyone else have any suggestions for how to set up the vote ?

Yeah those BPIP lists are updated constantly.

As @SFR10 said, you have to limit the voters in some way because if you go with a simple poll, someone will try to abuse it with bunch of brand new accounts. If there is any chance that something can be abused around here, it will be.

My suggestion is to make people vote by simply writing the name of the contestant they think it was the best, limit it to at least Full Member & above and eventually certain amount of merit earned.

IDK about limiting the voting to Full Member, there are some very active people in this
board who have not reached Full Member and probably don't care about ranking

What about a panel of 3 judges as an option? obviously those who are not taking part.

Seems like a great idea OP. Just a word of warning, I am terrible at art but I will give this a go this week. I’ll go & get some pumpkins maybe Tuesday & submit my entry before the end of the week. In the unlikely event I win a prize, I will donate it to a charity of the OP’s choice or somebody struggling with the cost of living increases etc.

Trust me, I’m the least artistic person on this planet, so don’t worry!  Also that’s very generous of you to donate if you place.  I was trying to think of a way to incorporate charity in to this, but just could figure out how exactly. If you win, I will donate proceeds to the WWF/ World Wildlife Foundation

Just wanted to mention that we now have a second place prize established.  Thanks to xSlyy for donating a lot of Cardsmith cards (a very popular crypto collector card company).

Thanks to https://paradice.in/ for donating 2mBTC for the second prize winner.

More prizes will certainly be coming! As well as a 3rd place prize if we get enough participation.

Looks good!

It should include bitcoin in some way, but no issue with adding other types of cryptocurrencies in along with it if you want.

Surprisingly I saw the ad of this topic on the news section. It's good to see the encouragement from theymos.

I was confused for few seconds to understand if this was photoshopped. The reflation of your picture (guessing it's you) confirmed that it's a raw picture may be lol. But anyway, perfect background, nice framing. I wonder if you are a pro photographer?

PS: Maybe I will bring up something later LOL

I always have a positive attitude towards any contest on the bitcointalk, and if by the end of Halloween I manage to grow a pumpkin :), then I will definitely join this contest. I like what OP has planned and express my gratitude to him for this. It would be good if the organization of the competition will be held at the level of the pizza-day competition and the administration of this forum will join this. Or at least the most active users of the forum will help with this.

Will the winner of the Bitcointalk Bitcoin Pumpkin Carving Contest be able to wear the 🎃 icon on their profile? At least for a while. That would be awesome the most.

My pumpkin is not yet grown for carving, so if the pumpkin painting category opens this year, we will compete in it. Otherwise we will try our chance next year when it became an adult :D

After a Bitcoin Pizza from Bitcoin Pizza Day, we are ready for Bitcoin Pumpkin now.  :D

Unfortunately, I don't have much time to contribute a Bitcoin Pumpkin here but i'll chip in some Merit for good submissions!
Looking forward to nice Bitcoin Pumpkins.  :)

There's actually other people who are planning to create bitcoin pumpkin things, but not actual carved pumpkins and I said that I encourage you to do so and share here, but that it would be counted toward prizes.  I don't know that it makes sense to allow for entries that don't at least have 1 carved pumpkin.  Now I've encourage creativity and that being the only thing you must to do count towards being able to win the prize, but I do think it's best it is the one hard fast rule.  If it changes I'll let you know. Maybe as long as it includes at least a real pumpkin, that should be the qualifying deal (if anyone has opinions on this please do share, it's hard to decide all this stuff on your own lol).

Interesting contest!

I have a wedding, I'm likely moving, I'm out of town for work... all yet to come this month, c'mon now you can find time! :)   ( I kid of course, but if you do find time, glad to have ya).

Heya, is it necessary for the artwork to be physical like an actual pumpkin? Or are we allowed to create bitcoin pumpkin 3D sculpture using any 3D computer graphics software like Blender? Maybe it is a 3D artwork with little animation and effects incorporated in it. Thank you!!

I can not find a ripe pumpkin where i live and also my skills are not good enough to make something out of that. But i like to play with photoshop and still learning. This is not for the contest to win but just to be a part of it. Here's what i have made. Not very pretty or a masterpiece but i did what i could .

To be eligible for the prizes, you must have an actual pumpkin/gourd. Otherwise it kind of defeats the purpose. As I’ve stated before and below, I think I’m going to create a separate contest/category where there’s a prize for those who don’t have an actual pumpkin. Stay tuned for more on that.

I can not find a ripe pumpkin where i live and also my skills are not good enough to make something out of that. But i like to play with photoshop and still learning. Very cool. I might do a sub category where there’s a separate contest for those who don’t have actual pumpkins but make something say with photo-shop or 3D printers etc.  Any participation is great!

Lol so what's gonna happen to those who aren't from pumpkin countries? You can't find one of these in my country ever 😂😂😂😂.

This is funny? What a weird way to express yourself. Was the 4th laughing emoji necessary? I mean I understand 3, but 4?!

First off read the whole thing, I stated if you don’t have a pumpkin then gourds of some sort will work as well.
If you don’t have anything like that then unfortunately you won’t be able to participate (though I do believe I’m going to start a second contest for those who don’t have access to pumpkins/gourds etc). This is just for fun, and I can’t make it perfect for everyone.  I didn’t have to even create this contest at all. This isn’t some government program. What an odd and unnecessary comment.

I am in! I’ve been motivated from all these posts.
ChiBTC, you’re right, if you’re moving, wedding, etc. and YOU can find the time, I certainly will as well!
Good luck everybody. I’ll be carving mine this weekend.

Also, for those who can’t find pumpkins in their country, Amazon has a lot of pumpkin decor you could technically ‘carve’ if the material is soft enough. Only con is you won’t be able to roast the seeds. Might be worth a look. Even though I don’t condone buying anything on Amazon…

There were many participants in the pizza concept contest throughout the forum. Although Halloween is not celebrated in our country, there will be users who will participate for entertainment purposes, it is really a fun content. I created the topic in the Local section, you can check it out here(https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5416880.0). Good luck to the participants.

If I have time, I'll take a pumpkin and try to carve it, I've never done anything like this before, I don't know what I'll come up with. If I carve a pumpkin, I'll edit my post.

I will partecipate in for the fun of it.
I won't be as competitive as in the pizza making contest, I am afraid.

But I have never done anything like this in my life and I have nothing to say about my competitive ability in carving pumpkins. It slows you down a little to get started (and you still need to find a suitable pumpkin), but it's probably worth a try, if only for the sake of fun and participation in the contest. The coolest thing, in my opinion, about all this is the activity of the BTC-community and the opportunity to join it. Such contests demonstrate that the bitcointalk community is alive and not bored at all.

Kinda busy the next couple of days but will carve my pumpkin & submit a photo of the finished product soon. Need to get some inspiration though.

I bought the biggest pumpkin I could see in the supermarket, I hope to do it some justice :)

I am not a big fan of pumpkins, but you can have a very nice risotto with them, or in some Italian cities, even some very nice ravioli.

Pumpkin Pie is my favorite desert. I eat at least two whole pies each Thanksgiving (over the course of about 2-3 days lol). Love roasting the seeds as well. Definitely will be doing that this year.

-UPDATE-

There will be a separate category for those simply looking to create a Bitcoin pumpkin that’s not an actual pumpkin. This can include a 3D molded bitcoin , a digital / NFT btc pumkin, a painted pumkin etc.

Prize: Lealana donated coin ..official post/update to the OP and photo of prize to come in the next day or two (thanks to Lealana for donating the coin for the contest)

I suggest that you require the image to include the user's name and the date written on a piece of paper in order to prevent plagarism.

Great call, I will absolutely require this. Thanks for the suggestion.

If you read two posts above, I mention there’s now a separate contest for those without access to actual pumpkins /gourds. I want anyone anywhere in the world to be able to participate so decided to do this as long as your country allows for shipping from the US (if you want to be eligible to receive prizes, that is. I’m pretty sure if you’re in a country that doesn’t allow shipping from the US you are well aware of that.. Again, you can still participate regardless, just won’t be eligible to win the prizes. I suppose exceptions can be made if you are able to have the items shipped somewhere that does allow US packages).

Same here, even if you can ship two or four pumpkins which you can, the shipping fee will piss you off, everything is huge money in Nigeria now, you will have to pay 2x more money for every thing, even the little things. Follow @ChiBitCTy advice.

—Update—

There is now a second contest for those who’d rather not carve a pumpkin or have access to them where you’re from in the world. The rules are pretty simple, create something bitcoin Halloween/pumpkin related to qualify. This can be a painting, digital art, 3D molded item, painted pumpkin, NFT etc ..be creative!

Prizes listed above in OP.

Note a new rule: All entires must contain a photo of your item with a piece of paper stating your username and date (this is to avoid any potential cheating).

It doesn’t seem like there’s that many contestants, so jump in, your odds of winning are pretty good right now simply by a lack of entires!

In any case, here are two pieces I made with AI and PS:

These are available as high-res prints. If there is a lot of interest or if I just feel like it, I will get the above motives printed as a limited run and these will be the postcards that can be won instead.

For now my contribution to the contest prizes are these two postcards (one each):

Anyways, I wish everyone participating goodluck, if there will be provisions for those that don't have access to pumpkin at this time, then I would definitely join the contest.
Looking forward to more update.

Not the best season for pumpkins, but you can get one if you go to any fruit market in your state. If you live near the Niger Delta, you can get it from Port Harcourt, Calabar, and Delta (not sure about other states), but if you have someone in PHC, they can easily get it for you for around $3- $5 depending on the size. I paid $4 for mine. Lol.

Being a btc forum it’s kinda the whole point. I created a second contest to try and make this doable for anyone in the world who can have US items sent to them. But whether in contest one or two, need to be btc related please.  Awesome stuff tho !

This has been my favourite.
There are some very good entries. I have seen very successful works both physically and in photoshop. If I had any smerit, I would like to send them to all.
Pumpkin is not very common here and as a culture we don't celebrate Halloween either. That's why I can't participate in this competition. We see how talented people there are on the forum. Thanks to ChiBitCTy for bringing up such a contest idea.

Voting time seems short to me. I think it would be better if voting was done for a week instead of 3 days. This is how I suggest. Good luck to all contestants.

This guy is titled "My Precious..."
Damn that looks crazy good and it looks like we have a pro around here. ;D Anyway, kudos for the effort!

Few years ago I tried something relatively similar with bitcoin sign, but doing it from the inside of the pumpkin and it was a major pain in the ass to do it properly without making a hole in the pumpkin so in the end I gave up.

Might as well just send it to the winning contestant directly, no need to send multiple transactions unless there's a chance you won't be active around early November. If so just let me know. Thanks again for putting up the prize BTC

Sorry For the late reply. I didn't notice you already replied to me here.
It's okay. I am active here. I will be active at the end of October as well. I will keep my eyes on the contest.
As you suggested, I will send the prize to the contest winner directly. Good luck, everyone. We are excited to see some great curving.

I tried to present Bitcoin Pumpkin Day. But because I have no advanced technology here, I may not be able to present my post well. But I have tried my best but please pray for me in future so that I can do better.

I am going to pray that within the next less than two weekstm (I.e. soontm) you get ur selfie within possession of a knife, and use said knife to cut some holes into that pumpkin-like appearing object - at least one of such holes creating direct or indirect communications of some kind of a bitcoin-related theme, and then afterwards you take a picture of your results and upload such results on this thread within the next almost two weeks (before October 31.. the pumpkin carving deadline - which also happens to be the 14th anniversary of Satoshi's white paper - if anyone would like that as a possible tie-in pumpkin carving theme). .That's my prayer for you at this moment..

...and part of the reason that I am so seemingly demanding within my stated prayer is that you already have demonstrated that you have acquired a pumpkin-like piece of vegetable within your possession (which is way more than a majority of the making of progress towards halloween-bitcoin funzies - and furthermore, you have also demonstrated that you know how to upload pictures to this thread.. with BTC drawings contained therein.. so you seem to know the theme of this thread.

The ONLY thing that you may well be missing is some kind of a pumpking puncturing tool, which can be so simple as a knife (which is a pretty common instrument in all parts of the world) or some other instrument (even a sharp rock might do) that might allow you to poke some holes in that pre-carved bitcoin inspired pumpkin-looking object.     :o

Let us (royal?) pray for further progress (I.e. proof of work.. proof of manual labor - whether carried out by you or by one of your agents) from you within the theme of this thread within the next almost two weeks..   ;)

Edited some of the above post with clarifications and additional specificity.

Jay, I'd love to participate in it, to be frank but, who the heck's got an idea where to get that? What I see frequently, Every time I go shopping is water melon but they're too soft or watery to get a nice effect during carving.....
I'm not even aware we've got some species of pumpkin as large as that? Hehe, does this brownish stuff count as a pumpkin....save my ass! 😹

Yes.. Depending on your region.. You may well have some challenges in terms of local products that you might have available and how much searching that you might have to do if you were to go to some kind of a speciality produce location - if you were to have one in your location.. and so in that regard, some locations do have more availability of pumpkins in their stores and with their farmer's markets this time of the year..  -

I would speculate that members would appreciate anything that might be close to a substitute (and even a painting of orange) of some level of demonstration that you had come up with some real world creativity that gets in the ballpark of the thread's theme... .. Like even some kind of a sweet potato or a squash could serve a a substitute.. and of course, it the vegetable is small, then it would have to contain more surgical kinds of carvings.. and not everyone would be capable to carry out those kinds of artistry.. even though historically, we have seen members come up with some interesting improvisations - even though it could be that those improvisations might not end up winning the contest - but who knows?  It's like a question of presentation, and I have been told that I surely don't have a very good track record in the area of something like food presentation.. but each of us have our real world limitations and our talents.. I suppose.

One good thing is that you still have almost two weeks... ..  .. and even though ChiBitCTy said October 31, he did not give the exact deadline.. maybe we are talking about midnight UTC?  There might be a need to make the exact contest ending time clear (unless I missed that detail?).

Edited: By the way, I do believe that something like a watermelon could still serve as a pumpkin substitute (if you cannot find anything else that is closer to a pumpkin).. because the rind of a watermelon might be somewhat similar to the rind a pumpkin.. even though the rind of a watermelon might lose its composure a lot more quickly than the rind of a pumpkin.. .. but with either one, you are likely emptying the inside.. and maybe the pumpkin's rind is thicker than the rind of a watermelon but you could still carve a watermelon if you cannot find anything else.. it is at least bigger than some other vegetables (or is Watermelon a fruit?)

For sure, I am not really any kind of a fruit/vegetable expert beyond having had eaten both a watermelon and a pumpkin and even cut into the rinds of each of them in the past.

Edited 2: The more I think about it.  You are probably right Sandra.  The carving of a watermelon would be more difficult and challenging than a pumpkin because the rind is quite a  bit thinner than the rind of a pumpkin.. including the meat of the pumpkin does seem to help to hold it up after the insides of the pumpkin have been hollowed out.. so a watermelon might not be able to either support itself after the inside is emptied, and even if you could get through the whole process of carving a watermelon (like a pumpkin - and making it appear orange) you would be challenged the whole time of the rind of the watermelon collapsing or breaking while you are carving it.. ..so if you were to go down such a path, take your picture quickly before such art project falls apart or put some kinds of support beams within the watermelon to keep it from collapsing upon itself... ..

but I still think carving a watermelon would be easier than carving an ice sculpture, but maybe it depends upon what kinds of real world artistic and craftsmanship skills that you might happen to have?

Judging from your Pumpkin Photos. I guess you are from India or Bangladesh?
I am from Bangladesh and familiar with this kind of Pumpkin. I am watching people posting pumpkin photos, and all of them are kind of orange color. I had the plan to curve one. But I don't think people will understand whether it's pumpkin or something else because of the color and size.

Quoted for viewability - and I made the pics a little smaller than the defaulted upload size.

Maybe I should have turned them upside-down too, in order that we don't have to stand on our heads to read the symbol?

Interesting contest. Can I ask if all types of pumpkin are allowed to use on this. I believe the pumpkin here on our region isnt that the same with the pumpkin being used usually mostly for halloween display and party.

Love some of the entries but it seems only few are gonna join this due to pumpkin availability to some region and the task isnt easy too. As carving requires skills.

Sweet pumpkins are not commonly seen in our area but the sweet pumpkins that are available are usually of a different type. So the sweet pumpkins of our country will not match the picks given in the contest.

Voting with be done via a poll. Theymos has graciously offered to help with this. There will be some adjustments made to the normal poll, for example ..” 1) only Member+ votes will count, where copper membership does not on its own count as Member; and 2) users who haven't made a post in the year between the time of this post and 1 year ago will not be counted”.

Thanks to all those who’ve entered so far. Hoping to see some more entries, especially hoping to see more actual traditional pumpkins that are carved   The examples in the OP are the types of entries I had in mind from the start.

🎃 Happy Halloween 2022 🎃

I'm so excited to be working again and entering the Bitcoin Pumpkin Carving contest.
This time it's not wood that I carved, but a pumpkin that is typical for Halloween and then I mix it with some carving strokes that will add to the impression more unique.

Using a pumpkin with a fairly large size with an easier and faster process using the wood carving tools that I have.

Sketching Pumpkin Face and Bitcoin Logo

https://i.postimg.cc/rw8nDn2X/pumpkin-carving-halloween-3.jpg
The tool or carving knife I use to carve pumpkins.

Engrave according to the sketch made

Engrave the entire sketch and punch holes for the Bitcoin face and Logo on the pumpkin, making it look more realistic.

The final result with the addition of lights to bring the Pumpkin to life.

Take a photo with the new work "Bitcoin Pumpkin Carving Contest 2022"

Everyone —PLEASE READ THE RULES. It looks like many of you have continued to create things, which I highly appreciate, but you’re still not reading the rules. The is the BitcoinTalk forum. The whole point of this competition is to include bitcoin in some way shape or form. If you want to be eligible for the prizes, bitcoin must be incorporated in some fashion.

I am not very clear about the rules exactly... that is ChiBitCTy has set fort the rules in OP, so you have to read the rules..

I recall that ChiBitCTy said one submission per member... this part:

There will only be one entry per person (but this can include a bulk of items together (i.e. a 3 pumpkin set with a drawing next to it, for example).

Common sense would suggest that you might be able to update your submission up until the time of the vote/deadline (so you ONLY have one entry) which I believe the deadline for such would be on 10/31/22... .. so in that regard, my interpretation would be that you could make some kind of an improved carving of your "natural pumpkin," but if the rules say something else or they mean something other than my interpretation, then you have to go with whatever the rules say or ChiBitCTy's interpretation.

This is a very good thing and of course those who are interested in participating in this contest even if it is with minimal creativity ;D
But this did not spark my desire to enter this contest.
Actually there are a lot of pictures that I save on my phone starting from the initial work, but it seems that this is too much to show and I only show the results.

Wow amazing work taufik123, from all the entries until now you already won my vote :)

Thank you for the support, this is my first carving work using pumpkin as the media.

I understand, there are some contest participants who only make simple scribbles about Halloween without highlighting Bitcoin in their work and there is no more effort to make this work.

And for the work that I made, I have formed the Bitcoin logo behind the Halloween Pumpkin Face
with the philosophy behind the spooky face (which can be interpreted as a risk, volatility, fluctuation, pros and cons) there are many benefits that can be obtained with Bitcoin or cryptocurrency.

and the real benefit of my pumpkin carving work is that I make a big pot of pumpkin soup (Indonesian says "KOLAK LABU")
which I then share with all my family and some of my neighbors, so they can eat pumpkin soup deliciously.

Halloween and its History

  Halloween word analysis

Halloween == (Hallow+Een)
Hallow (Holy person)
Een=Even(End of the day , night)(n)= Eve
Halloween (Holy Eve)= The evening before all saints Day

Background

People in Ireland, United Kingdom and Wales believed that the dead spirits come down to earth every year on October 31st and they also think that various evening rituals will make the spirits happy and cheerful, such as burning bonfires, dancing and singing on the night of October 31st every year.  , celebrate Halloween with lantern lighting, trick-or-treating, costume parties, jack-o'-lantern making, fireworks, fortune-telling, apple bobbing, haunted house tours.

why orange colour Pumpkin used

Why pumpkins are used at Halloween has an important history, particularly when the Irish immigrated to America in the 19th century, bringing pumpkins with them with the symbol of Halloween and spirits of ghosts..  Moreover, orange colored sweet pumpkin is used as a symbol of Halloween.  Orange color is basically a symbol of light which removes the darkness and always shows the face of life.

Moreover, another advantage of sweet pumpkin is that any desired symbols and symbols can be carved very easily.

Nice! Finally we have an official thread. I hope this will be spread out to everyone in the forum. The more, the merrier right?
If my carving skill sucks, I believe I can try some digital drawing.
@ChiBitCty, is that a valid entry though?

Anyone who wants to be eligible to win the prizes must include an actual pumpkin/gourd. Trust me, mine will be terrible, so don’t worry, have fun with it!

I would try it but the problem is we do not have these types of pumpkins in my country.  ;)

I finally made up my mind and picked up the world's biggest pumpkin. ;D I don't hope to win this contest at all, and for me the main thing is participation, as well as your opinion about my bitcoin-pumpkin. Leave your comments.

May the strongest pumpkin-carver win! :)

A bit of a venal question out of curiosity since we're on the bitcoin forum:
How much BTC (sat.) would you value this pumpkin?  ;)

Although I didn't expect to find a pumpkin like that in my country (in Spain we are used to a different kind of pumpkins called "peanut-pumpkins" which are long instead of round), yesterday I managed to find one, so I will carve it during the next week and post it here before the deadline.

I had to go through a lot of hard times after the losing money in the business. I had to pass miserable life even my beloved started to misunderstand me. There was no peace between us. But now by overcoming that position we have succeeded in establishing strong relationship. Bitcoin has played a key role in this regard. Now i get the light of bitcoin in my family.

In today's Bitcoin Pumpkin Carving Contest, i would like to dedicate my bitcoin light to everyone and their family.

Thanks to OP (ChiBitCTy) for arranging  a promising Bitcoin Pumpkin Carving Contest and also thanks to all the members of this forum.

Wow, some really cool entries coming in of late!!! This is what I had in mind when I thought of doing this contest. I’m extremely un-talented when it comes to anything art wise, so my pumpkin will be terrible, like it was the first time I made one, but I knew we had some talented people on this forum who would make some cool stuff and I love seeing it!

Been out of town all weekend and settling in today. I will work on compiling the competitors list tomorrow (as well as handing out some well deserved merit).

Great stuff everyone, keep it up, we’ve got a week left !

After looking at a lot of pumpkins, I want to add my own. Pumpkins of this shape are popular in my country. I bought it for my son, as he loves all pumpkin dishes, especially pies. ;D

Your pumpkin should definitely win the "most charming pumpkin" nomination, because against the background of other pumpkins with a spooky Halloween theme, it stands out for its cuteness. :)

In general, it is unusual to see such works from a member with a reputation as a fighter of all crooks and bounty cheaters. But let them not be touched by your cute pumpkin and remember your righteous anger. :)

No, no, I don't claim anything. I just bought a pumpkin for my child, and I thought it would be fun, as I tried to paint and decorate the pumpkin with my son. I can say more, in my country, there is no such holiday, and this photo was taken just for fun. :D

Wow guys, really great stuff here.  I was out of town for a wedding over the weekend and was just loosely following this thread, having just gone through the entire thread slowly, I'm amazed at how much cool stuff has been created so far, how much stuff I missed over the weekend and how much stuff has been added in just the last couple of days, awesome awesome stuff everyone!!

I have posted the official contestant entries in the second post of this thread.  So far, here is the official entrants..please let me know if I somehow missed your entry!

(FYI- I did a horrible job of merit distributing.  I gave away too many too fast. If I only gave you a couple merit, that does not base how I feel about your work, just that I did a bad job giving it away equally.  As I get more merit I will make sure to pass it along to those who deserve it.  Hopefully merit members (forgetting what we call them at this moment on here lol)  will pass along good amounts of merit to those of you so fully deserving of it!)

That hosting cite does not work to make your images available (or visible) like the https://i.imgur.com that many of the members use.. so if you put them in Imgur.. then they would become visible.. or maybe they have to be saved or stored in the correct format..

I don't claim to be an expert on which cites to use for uploading or how they have to be saved.. maybe just change them to JPEG and that will work to cause them to become visible once they are requoted?

This competition is gaining momentum and the number of participants is increasing. It's great, because the more of us, the more fun. I'm starting to worry about the organizers, because it will be difficult to choose the winners. What kind of work the participants present is incomprehensible to the mind. Ranging from funny to really creepy and scary just right for the Halloween theme. A real flight of fantasy and creativity.

Has anything become known about the possibility of getting a 🎃 icon next to your nickname for the winner (possibly temporary)? How does the administration of Bitcointalk look at this?

P.S.
There are still 5 days left, so those who wish to join this contest, I advise you to hurry up.

and the real benefit of my pumpkin carving work is that I make a big pot of pumpkin soup

It's nice to see some people actually eating their pumpkins! Every year I see hundreds of pumpkins sitting outside of people's houses and then getting rotten: it makes me feel like it's a secret Halloween ritual where everyone sacrifices perfectly-good-to-eat pumpkins to Nurgle.

Am I too late for join the party? I already see many cool entries. When I saw this thread, its seems that a great festive atmosphere is created in the forum and I would like to thank OP for making it.
I am actually very poor about carving but I tried to make something because I also have to participate in this festival.
By the way good night everyone I have to go bed early today. Because when I was going for giving  Btc sign and bl*oody face in the pumpkin  I couldn't find my red marker then I used my wife's lipstick, and she threaded me to go market and buy a new lipstick tomorrow early morning.
Good luck everyone for this pumpkin contest 2k22...

I at minimum eat the seeds. Regardless mine won’t go to waste, these guys are beefing up for the winter. Saw this on my dog walk today..

Am I too late for join the party? I already see many cool entries. When I saw this thread, its seems that a great festive atmosphere is created in the forum and I would like to thank OP for making it.
I am actually very poor about carving but I tried to make something because I also have to participate in this festival.

Not to late at all. Everyone has all the way through Halloween day to submit their entires. I’ve actually yet to do my pumpkin (not that I’m part of the competition). I would imagine we will have a few entires on Halloween day itself as everyone gets in the mood!

I guess it depends on the location and availability of pumpkins. Farmers sometimes don't even collect their pumpkins because the market demand is too low. But, In my city. We can't find pumpkins all the time. In sub-continent country, there is a lot of variant of pumpkins. People eat pumpkins at least once a month. Sweet pumpkins are somewhat expensive in my city.

This was my first ever pumpkin carving. I had never tried to carve before because I never knew such a contest existed. Without this contest, I don't think I would buy a pumpkin and cut it just to see how it looks. The pumpkin I carved will be another dish as well.

Pumpkin is used as a symbol of Halloween festival, then this pumpkin is eaten by different people of the world.  However, not all places in the world are suitable for pumpkin cultivation.  China is leading the way in pumpkin cultivation.
China produces 7.7 million tons of pumpkins every year.  India is in second place with 5 million tons, followed by Ukraine and Russia producing 1.2 million tons of pumpkins every year, and USA producing 1 million pumpkins every year. Moreover, pumpkins are available in Mexico, Indonesia, Italy and France.

Same, I am still working my way through the seeds, they are tedious to shell, but a few every day is
manageable, good source of protein and better than wasting them.

At least some wildlife are making the most of what is being left outside.

maybe just change them to JPEG and that will work to cause them to become visible once they are requoted?

It's really difficult trying to figure out the conversation with JPEG. I am not very familiar with that. I've been trying since the day before yesterday, but I think I finally got it right this time, sir. Can you please make my picture visible? Thank you.

I wish I was able to place this carving on a pumpkin, but I was not able to get a pumpkin in my locality, so I decided to join the context by using this fresh Carica papaya. Thank you, OP, for organizing this contest, which has made me exercise my little carving skill.

For me personally, there is nothing surprising, and almost immediately, after completing a short photo session with a pumpkin, I began to cut it and prepare a dish. I think that it would be wasteful to simply throw away such a wonderful vegetable after participating in the competition, because so many different tasty and healthy dishes can be prepared from a pumpkin. In my case, it was stewed pumpkin with vegetables and chicken (damn, I didn’t think to take a photo set of this and you just have to take my word for it :)).

In a sense, cooking after carving a pumpkin can be considered a kind of ritual. After all, it's a harvest festival.

Bitcoin Pumpkin Carving Contest 2k22
Wow, the party seems warmer. It seems almost eleven months since I joined this Bitcointalk forum. In these 11 months, I have received immense help from this forum which has made my student life more self-reliant and given a chance to connect with BTC and the crypto world. So I also tried to do some pumpkin carving with the BTC sign. This is my first pumpkin carving and so I know it's not that much good to see. Below are some of my small attempts.

This is the result of me and my son, it took us 2 hours to complete it, it seemed quite difficult for us, but we finished it in the end :).

Every day when I open my computer to work, he always asks what I am doing, I just answer "I work with Bitcoin" and today when he saw me carving pumpkins, he asked what I was doing, I still said "I work with Bitcoin". So the two of us rushed to work together. After done, he got very excited and said the "Bitcoin Pumpkin" was beautiful.

I ask him, do you like bitcoin? he replied to me that "I also want to work Bitcoin with you on the computer". Although he is too young to understand what Bitcoin is but I feel very happy and I will definitely teach him about Bitcoin when he grows up. I'm not sure if he's passionate about my choice? but I will definitely teach him everything about Bitcoin.

Once again, congratulations on Bitcointalk Bitcoin Pumpkin Carving Contest

I cannot see anything for Patrol69's linked images in this above post.  It just shows up as an "invalid image".

So what is it that you see, Dubaian?

Are you referring to Patrol69's earlier entry from two days ago (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5416347.msg61195910#msg61195910)?  Has that entry from two days ago been amended? or did Patrol69 submit a new set of images?

My understanding is that there can ONLY be one entry for the contest per member.

Yes.. that kind of makes sense.. but newbies are not prevented from being able to see images, it is just that the posts of the images of newbies cannot be seen by others.  So for me, there still seems to be a bit of a mystery.. except the repetition of post(s) for merits angle, perhaps?

The first time I saw the Thread "Bitcointalk Bitcoin Pumpkin Carving Contest" I was confused where to start. Then I decided to buy equipment to participate in this contest.

I'm not someone who is an expert in painting or carving, this is my first time carving a pumpkin. With a simple tool that I have, I try to be creative to join this party.

This is the result of my work.

https://i.ibb.co/QF0VF8f/IMG-20221030-WA0005.jpg
The first step, prepare the pumpkin and the equipment needed.

https://i.ibb.co/qp5Jhb0/IMG-20221030-WA0004.jpg
The second step, start the work by drawing the Bitcoin symbol on the Pumpkin.

https://i.ibb.co/25yMjcD/IMG-20221030-WA0000.jpg
The third step, the work is almost finishing.

https://i.ibb.co/fFDBfC4/IMG-20221030-WA0001.jpg
The fourth step, the work is 100% complete.

https://i.ibb.co/VTmW4fV/IMG-20221030-WA0003.jpg
The fifth step, add a little light to make it more elegant.

https://i.ibb.co/R6KWZh5/IMG-20221030-WA0002.jpg
It's nice to see the results of your own efforts even if it's a little messy.  :D
Being a part of the pumpkin carving contest was a very memorable moment for me.

I couldn't get a pumpkin for my carving because my country doesn't celebrate Halloween, but I did get a self-harvested Pawpaw.

This is the Pawpaw right after it was harvested.

No one wants his/her fruit to be dirty
https://i.ibb.co/FWXmgkj/IMG-20221030-114223-698.jpg

Because this is my first time carving, I thought it would be a good idea to first trace out what I intended to carve.
https://i.ibb.co/v3C4LMw/IMG-20221030-115515-142.jpg

After cutting my finger for the second time, I had to take a short break.

Result
https://i.ibb.co/vvRz2np/IMG-20221030-130706-450.jpg

I attempted to illuminate the interior, but it was just as bad as my carving. Lol.

Now comes the interesting part ;D the part about the tummy. It wouldn't be right to just feed the eyes without also feeding the stomach, so I took it a step further by making it edible.
https://i.ibb.co/bNFBkf0/IMG-20221030-133357-035.jpg

Don't worry, they're in a safe place.  ;)  ;)

Great entires guys, wish I had merit available for the most recent ones. I really didn’t expect this much participation, let alone how great so many of them turned out to be. I will update the list tomorrow. Keep them coming, we’ve got just about two days and an hour left for this competition.

Regardless of who wins, everyone coming together to do something fun like this is a big win for us all. Thanks :)

I can imagine the smile on your face by seeing the contest getting more engagement. I wouldn't know about this contest if I didn't see the news section. I guess a lot of participants come from the header news section. Thanks to the admins.

I wonder if admins would like to add a special (temporary) pumpkin badge to the winner profile, just like the pizza baking contest.
fillippone's badge shone under his name. I wouldn't mind if we saw a pumpkin badge as well. Maybe ChiBitCTy can ask the Admins if they agree.

First, I wanted to carve Faketoshi's face on the pumpkin, but it could have been of bad taste, and that guy is not worth the effort nor the attention.

Second, I wanted to carve a QR code that would lead to Satoshi's first post in this forum, but due to the curvature of the pumpkin it would be unreadable.

So, after several frustrated ideas, this is the result. Simple, but made with love!

My Story of Mr. Zapallo Ahuyama!
(also known by the alias of Auyama)

Foreword:
My "Pumpkin" wants to become a full-fledged Pumpkin and has received the opportunity thanks to an event called the "Bitcointalk Bitcoin Pumpkin Carving Contest".

But she can't lose her idiosyncrasies, so it's good that they know that although she turns me into a Pumpkin for Halloween, where I come from I'm known by the name: Zapallo, Auyama or Ahuyama.

Chapter 1:

Before you get to the contest:

Someone from emigration told me that at least I was in good physical shape, but the color was not frequent at these days of Halloween, but they were very kind, in fact they encouraged me to CONTINUE IN THE PROCESS, I remember that this man was called "OP". Thanks again.

Chapter 2:

The transformation.

Before doing that step they asked me to leave a proof of my passport, so here I leave them:

Video https://i.imgur.com/QaLvQBO.mp4

_________
_____
__

Well, I found a guy  FamososMuertos, by the way told me that he had everything I needed to transform myself, although with that name I thought something else, but since it was Halloween, trust me, it's normal for someone to be called that on Halloween, I think.

These were the things he did to me.

https://i.imgur.com/b7NlSof.jpg

The guy (fM) wasn't very good, you can see... he made mistakes several times... occupational hazards, he told me.

Part of his abilities...

https://i.imgur.com/PLR8We6.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/gS3Rjmx.jpg

On the other hand, he always insisted on making a video:
https://i.imgur.com/jPJKDbK.mp4

In another order of cosmetologists ... I didn't know whether to tell me black or natural eyes...
https://i.imgur.com/2OJ2sJC.jpg

Chapter 3:
OMG!!
I asked him what was the meaning of those "B" shaped things above my eyes, he just told me it's the future, save everything you can... I didn't understand but I liked them, they made me look like I had "Flow"...

https://i.imgur.com/qhaL9ei.jpg

For some reason he insisted on giving me a bind blind style, something Hip Hop, I think, but with that chain that he gave me... it was strange, but he told me that later would understand it.

https://i.imgur.com/6MpdBsK.jpg

He added some Tx, he told me that they are Tx id, transaction codes, I didn't understand him very well but it sounded very good...

https://i.imgur.com/ZrCg692.jpg

I asked him, what is this piece of paper! is it perhaps a label "made in China"

I don't know why he thought and even sigh about it but then he said: that piece of paper have important information that was surely necessary to achieve my goals and develop in this new way of life, he call them seeds.

He always wanted to tell me many things, insisted a lot with the phrase; “Not your keys, not your coins”.
This guy sincerely told me strange things...

Video:

Chapter 4:

The time is drawing near...Tests:

video: https://i.imgur.com/IQVFBf5.mp4

Chapter 5:

I finally understood...

I had become quite an independent vegetable...

video: https://i.imgur.com/se9n1se.mp4

Final chapter:
I had become quite an independent vegetable...
Today I live happily independently, I am where I like, today I am with my great friend fM.

The End!
Happy Halloween BTT

Title: Re: 🎃 [ANN] Bitcointalk Bitcoin Pumpkin Carving Contest 🎃
Post by: ChiBitCTy on October 31, 2022, 11:42:34 PM
The contest will officially end tonight, let’s make it for 12am Los Angeles time (which can be found here  https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/usa/los-angeles  )  so this gives everyone a little less than 8 hours to go.

As I’ve mentioned I’m in the middle of moving so trying to find time to do this was going to be difficult. I made an attempt but found that one my pumpkin is massive and super thick, the tools I had to use to cut it were too cheap and didn’t work. I even broke the smaller one which is used for more “fine” carving.  It was just way too hard and ended up not working. As you can see below I attempted, as pathetic as it is. Next year I’ll make more time to do it better and pick a better pumpkin.

Again, a few hours remain !

(Officially the worst carving award goes to me)

And, I must say that's a pretty lame carving, but it is "a wee bit better" than the one that I submitted.

With two hours left, this is the official list so far, with right at 80 contestants. Wow. I expected maybe 20 people would compete in this contest. To be honest, I have no idea how I’m going to go about creating a list with photos that’s easy for everyone to vote on. This is a lot of contestants, also I imagine it’s going to take me some time to compile all this and of course I couldn’t be busier in life with my move. Any suggestions on how to best present everything for voting? Maybe just add to the list Taufik123 helped start on page 9 ? (Btw thank you so much Taufik123 !!!  Also thanks to those who helped keep this page clean and posted for newbies like JayJaunGee , Owlcatz and others!! )

maybe you missed the heading?
"Bitcoin Pumpkin Carving  Contest"

Kinda lets you know its supposed to be Bitcoin themed - doesn't it?

The rule say nothing about it having to be crypto-themed.

The rule say nothing about it having to be crypto-themed.

with the Heading/Subject saying it - do the rules really need to?

also - maybe read a bit?

Love the posts but guys…please read the rules if you want to be eligible for prizes. Most people aren’t following them. BTC must be incorporated in some way. Being a btc forum it’s kinda the whole point. I created a second contest to try and make this doable for anyone in the world who can have US items sent to them. But whether in contest one or two, need to be btc related please.  Awesome stuff tho !

Stop harassing me because I called out your China wallet scam MoparMiningLLC. Bro is still furious I tagged him as accomplice in the Titan Mint scam thread and now he's forum-jumping and stalking / harassing me.

Says the guy who shows up in wallet scam threads to harass and intentionally harm the victims, and shill made-in-china wallets, and then DOXXES people's mother from this site and harasses them.

Like I have said before Mopar, you should be banned from this site for doxxing and harassing a user's fucking mother at home over lost money, on behalf of your mythical friend, outside of the law. I OFFERED to help you recover some face, after your unbelievably egregious behavoir, but clearly that was a mistake.

Sorry I didn't read through 13 pages of posts and just read the posted rules in the first post. I hope you will still accept my shelty pumpkins.

I'm waiting to hear back from "Ballet Wallets" and Bobby Lee if they wanted you shilling their wallet in wallet scam accusation threads, where you are personally accused of being an accomplice, MoparMiningLLC.

Trick or Treat, buddy.

Trick or Treat, buddy.

As I said in the other thread, Bobby Lee knows I sell their wallets. I am a reseller for Balletcrypto.

And your accusations carries zero weight because anyone who actually reads the threads or does any research or knows me, will know it is false and baseless.

But please, let me know what Bobby says. Make sure you tell him that you called Ballet a scam as well - that will help your case :)

also - keep up your unsolicited DM's to people to "warn" them about me. Most of them have met me in person.

Todamont is DM'ing people who have made purchases or are in the process of making purchases from me to warn them about me lol

Contestant List - Contest 1

Just sorted the list of contestants using excel, and there are 2 users who are counted twice. Maybe it's just a little mistake or actually they submitted 2 works, while the rules afaik only allow 1 submission. I don't know, I haven't checked them.

Shaha98 (5,49)
Dubaian (12,40)

Misc: Ahli38 and patrol69 on the same number, 38

Let's start voting ::)

Damn. I am confused AF. There are a lot of extraordinary submissions. Hard to pick someone.
BTW, No 64 Should be disqualified. isn't it?

The rule say nothing about it having to be crypto-themed.
Your right ,the rules say nothing about it, however the title implicates this rule.

For me its confusing as some of the ones in contest two should be in contest one or no?

Being a Bitcoin Pumpkin Carving Contest anything that does not involve carving a "real" pumpkin 🎃 all goes into category 2,you are welcome.

Yes but many in contest 1 are also not pumpkins - they are gourds though. And some in contest 2 appear to be pumpkins - at least thats how it looks from my phone.

Gourds are allowed in place of pumpkins, so it makes sense - From the OP:

Edit - I thought Theymos was going to do some sort of poll for the voting, so hold your horses everyone... ::)

maybe you mean 65) Hallroom, as sorryfor is on the list based on ChiBitCTy's last ANN post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5416347.msg61218483#msg61218483). I think it deserves to be on the list because it was submitted before the deadline 2 hours left...
With two hours left,

and maybe he/she had put a lot of effort into finishing the pumpkin carving.
After all, I'm not the contest organizer and it's up to ChiBitCTy to decide.

No. 64 by Sorryfor. It's a collected photo from the internet (https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/jlr9o6/happy_14k_halloween_loved_making_these). I posted it a couple of hours ago. Look like no one noticed.

Sorry, Mr. Sorryfor. Your name is confusing for what you are sorry for.
I thought it wasn't submitted for participation. But ChiBitCTy listed you here.
I am sorry about it. But I found the image somewhere else.

@ChiBitCTy The Image he posted is two years old and you can find it here (https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/jlr9o6/happy_14k_halloween_loved_making_these/).

yes that was my point - there are gourds with bitcoin themes in contest 2 - shouldnt they be in contest 1? or should all the gourds in contest 1 be in contest 2?

I thought all real life carvings were in contest one while All digital stuff was in contest two. So yes if there are real life carvings in contest 2 that shouldn't be right imo. (Sorry I'm old and I can't see this stuff on my phone right now) 🤣

lol thats why I said maybe my eyes are wrong too - but from my view about half of the ones in contest 2 are gourds of some sort.

I am biased and will elect to vote for Pumpkin #60 hehe. We need to make some kind of online poll w/ a survey generator or something it seems. Can't wait to see what the end results will be! Good luck to all participants! There may be one or two disqualified due to wrongfully posting a 2 year old google image for the contest boooooooooo, it appears there were a few tricksters amongst the treaters!

@rat03gopoh oh my goodness thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!! Did I say thank you yet? You are amazing, I seriously can’t thank you enough!

@Todamont - knock it off. This thread has nothing to do with Titan or your issues with Mopar, this is a contest for the forum that’s strictly meant for fun! Please stop. No Titan issues are to be discussed here by anyone, please !

Thanks again for everyone who’s helped me out during this contest, your help has not gone unnoticed, and is beyond appreciated!!!

I know I’ve got a couple of private messages to address and a few other things to clean up. This evening when I’m done with work I will do so. We will kick this off soon thanks to rat03gopoh !  I will be getting in touch with Theymos as well later to get the poll set up (with special provisions he’s helping implement in to the poll).

 So stay tuned everyone !

Edit:
As for the rules, yes , it MUST be bitcoin related in some fashion. If it’s just some regular pumpkin, without any bitcoin anything connected to it, it does not qualify.

As for what’s in contest #2, this for anything non physical pumpkin or gourd related (anything that’s not an actual pumpkin or gourd). If you’re in contest #2 and your entry is either a pumpkin or a gourd, please let me know. It’s hard for me to decipher pumpkins and gourds from other countries I’m not familiar with. So if this is the case, don’t panic, just let me know. Also if you carved a fruit of any kind, that does NOT qualify for contest #1. Just FYI

And yes, Theymos is helping me set up a poll, so more than likely voting will start later today or tomorrow (my schedule and theymos schedule depending. So bare with us, life can be busy at times and it certainly is for me right now!)

Also, again, thank you to everyone who participated! This was a lot of fun and so many cool things were created, I’m very happy with the first annual turn out!

Nope, as mentioned before the thread title really does point out what the contest is about,
also on page 4 ChiBitCTy directed people to include Bitcoin in their work. I can't understand
how anyone could submit work into a "Bitcoin" themed contest without actually having anything
related to Bitcoin....

No offense, it was still fun to carve the pumpkin ;) Just a small hint for the next contests to include a more detailed information in the rules ;)

Since your subject is orange, everyone can pretend that it is also a pumpkin. As an exception. :) Looks charming, actually. If you cut out the entire core and illuminated from the inside, in the best traditions of Halloween, then the first prize would be provided to you. :)

Am I the only one who associates this photo with bitcoin logo? Now I know what the BTC-logo means (the one that is orange slanted to the right) - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5417276.msg61128441#msg61128441.

Literally says in the title BitcoinTalk “BITCOIN” pumpkin carving contest. It should have been obvious it needed to be bitcoin related based on the OP which says bitcoin in the title, has multiple examples of bitcoin carved pumpkins as well as what aoluain mentioned, that I mentioned this several other times throughout the contest.

Why people have to complain about fun/free things, is beyond me. Did I set this up perfectly? No. This was my first time and a bit of a learning experience but I think overall everyone had fun with this. I mean I never expected over 80 entires!

Update on Poll:  I’ve reached out to Theymos and waiting to hear back for further instructions. Again, he offered to help add some provisions to the poll in which will make it more fair voting wise.

Those extra rules as quoted by Theymos to me “ 1) only Member+ votes will count, where copper membership does not on its own count as Member; and 2) users who haven't made a post in the year between the time of this post and 1 year ago will not be counted. I'll post the adjusted results at the end. In case of a tie in the end, the candidate who at that time has more total merit in the art contest thread will win”.

So stay tuned everyone, we’ll open voting here soon!

The title "Bitcoin PUMPKIN Carving Contest" also contains the word Pumpkin, but in the rules, you mention that creation has to include some sort of a pumpkin, which should also be obvious from the title :)

I am not complaining, just giving you friendly advice that could help you to organize future contests in a more transparent way.

Thank you for organizing the event and good luck to all participants :)

Sorry for being late famososMuertos, but my most sincere congratulations for your story. Very creative!

And the green pumpkin, lmao, I guess that it is difficult to find the typical orange pumpkin in your latitude, adds an extra layer of originality.

https://i.imgur.com/6MpdBsK.jpg

He added some Tx, he told me that they are Tx id, transaction codes, I didn't understand him very well but it sounded very good...

Those Txs remind me of the laughter of The Joker in "The killing joke", when he goes like Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha...

Quite disturbing, but wasn't it the goal for Halloween? ;)

Voting has gone live for Contest #1- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5419254.0

Voting has gone live for Contest #2- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5419367.0

Contest #2- I thought I could post a second poll inside a thread that already had a poll, but I was wrong.  Therefore for contest #2 it looks like I'll have to open a separate thread.  (My apologies for clogging up the collectibles section with two polls.  Didn't think that would be the case.  Thought about waiting until poll 1 closed to start poll 2, but I think it is only right to post them both at the same time for timing reasons )

Edit: Chatting with theymos to see if I can put two polls in one thread ( I assume I can't since I don't see the option to allow for it, but wanted to double check).  If I can't then I'll create a new thread for Contest 2 as intended.  So stay tuned.

-I will be locking this thread-

A big thanks to Theymos/Cyrus and everyone else who helped out along the way!!!!

Sorry if this is off-topic...

Not off topic, thanks for sharing.

Again as for the winners bare with me. My house looks like a tornado hit it, so its taking some time going through all the boxes to gather the prizes. This plus work, and as as having thrown out my back is making things a tad difficult for me at the moment.  So please continue to bare with me as I go through this transitional phase in my life making everything 10x harder to accomplish.

It’s after Thanksgiving. I think maybe this post should be allowed to fade off into the sunset and the Christina’s Tree decorating contest to begin. Although I guess we could call them holiday trees or decoration subjects instead to be politically correct. With the end of the year rapidly approaching, I imagine some of you must have some Bitcoin festivity displayed in your living rooms.

According to tjtonmoy [HERE (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5436570.msg61645762#msg61645762)] Tanvi50_ is their sister and halim50_ is a friend

That alternate account belongs to my sister. It's Tanvi50_. So technically it's not mine, but I do have access to it.

My what strong hands Tanvi50_ has (notice the nails chewed down to the stumps and back glow?)

I have seen onions, orange, pumkins... Thought why not a potato!
Let's hope thia gets selected.

Very similar to tjtonmoy's own hands, wouldn't you say?

Can't find any pumpkins but thought this would be funny.

Trust the process

Same with halim50_'s hands and keyboard / backlighting...

Must run in the family.  ::)

Happy Bitcoin Pumpkins celebration
I hope you inspire me to do better things in the future.

You will be inspired by a variety of topics and discussions on bitcointalk. Unfortunately, you can't be inspired by it because you do not read the original posts and instructions. Take, for example, this topic. Even if you did not read the original post, you probably already know that Halloween and pumpkin festivals take place in November. Best of luck acquiring merits. Is it not that you are here for?  Your entire post history focuses solely on bounties without any meaningful discussion.

This thread and competition was a massive success, and still continues to attract attention
for better or worse but I think it should be locked at this stage, otherwise it will trundle along.

Thanks again everyone for a hugely successful pumpkin carving contest/event. It had it’s ups and downs but overall I agree it was a big success so I look forward to running it again next year (or perhaps a version of it).

Anyways, agreed, time to lock this thread. But just wanted to give everyone a final thank you. See ya guys next year !
