There is no doubt that Bitcoin is the King of cryptocurrencies. If we only focus on altcoins, ETH is the most successful smart contract platform that owns the largest base of fans compared to other altcoins. The current market cap of Ethereum is over $200 Billions and the this will be more likely to increase in the long term. Can ETH be considered as the King of Altcoins ? What do you think ? Please let me know.

Looking at the alt coin section, Ethereum will surely come to mind. Because its trading volume is close to 670 million per day. The most trading is in the Ethereum section. So without a doubt Ethereum coin can be called the king of the alot coin section. And if you want to invest in a second place other than Bitcoin, you must choose Ethereum.

I would have to say yes, it's a king. But as we know from the history, Ethereum also can we dethroned. Just give it a time.

When you think of any altcoins, any or most of the investors will first think Ethereum except maybe for the newbies who only know only one altcoin.

Now to answer your question, Ethereum is King of Altcoins? I don't consider it as a King or whatever it is at all. I think using the word "King" to an altcoin is kind of irrelevantat all. The word "King" is being used to a male person or maybe some animals, but not on an altcoin or any coin.

That's what the majority believes for Ethereum. While bitcoin is the king of all cryptocurrencies and the market then ETH is specifically the king of altcoins.

You may think of any other altcoins that's being considered as the king of alts but, the sole basis right now is the rankings that they get from websites like cmc that we used to visit and that's basing through their market capitalization.

Ethereum is the second largest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalization after bitcoin. And ethereum is one of the well-known and most popular altcoins because it is part of the choice of investors after bitcoin and also works with the help of blockchain technology like bitcoin.
so ethereum can be said to be the king among other altcoins although actually this is only because of the biggest market capitalization and also the top altcoin which is very popular and also reliable in terms of long term profits after bitcoin, and usually both are in relation to the market, Bitcoin is the father of all cryptocurrency currency and Ethereum is the mother of all cryptocurrencies.

i think ethereum is more than what you mentioned in leading altcoins. This is because there is not yet a single Altcoin that can compete with Ethreum. I noticed that Ethereum is worthy of mentioning the king of Altcoins.

Everyone's measure of success varies. Each altcoin provides multiple success stories of its holders or adopters, so they have their own favorite altcoins. After all, the competition between altcoins is not over yet and development is still continuing.

I think the title as "king" changes with every hype. During the nft hype, many creators were using smart contract PoS systems due to more sustain scalability, and then ETH surprisingly hardforked to keep up with the competition.

The funny thing is, over the years, there have always been a lot of new projects coming out and saying they will replace ETH, but so far, there has not been any altcoin that can replace ETH.
ETH deserves to be called the king of the altcoin market, and I firmly believe that, like BTC, its place will be irreplaceable. Even I am pretty sure that it will give better returns than BTC in the upcoming bull season. The 2021 bull season has already happened, so it's no surprise it will happen again.

We don't need an altcoin king, I lost interest in Ethereum the moment they abandoned the Proof of Work algorithm,  they decided to go centralized after they implement Proof of Stake and now the SEC is calling Ethereum a SECURITY, I somehow believe that this is a problem for the project on the long run,  Vitalik have given the government the power they need to trample on ETH. I thought the POS will fix the high gas fee but it still the same, they should have stayed on POW.

Right now yes, of course. It's the top 2 crypto for a reason, it was revolutionary and a lot of tokens work on its blockchain. But people are right, it can be dethroned, but I don't see any real competitors now.

Ethereum is definitely the Prince of the crypto world. Bitcoin is King & will never be challenged for top spot but Ethereum can definitely lay claim to being second in command. It’s a good coin with many trade pairings so lots of other alts run off Ethereum.

I see Ethereum having a long term, successful future. It is a safe investment which if you hold long term, i am quite certain you will be very profitable.

Actually for me personally when talking about altcoins I don't like to say there is another raj here because in my opinion everything is definitely the same, namely altcoins there are no kings or anything else.
It's just that I think everyone will agree when we talk about altcoins, then indeed in the minds of most people, of course, they will remember Ethereum there. But again there is no king in altcoins for me because everything stays the same.

How can no one will not say ETH is the king of altcoins when ETH is always become the second largest market cap before BTC? People consider second largest market cap is the king of altcoins, so whenever ETH didn't reach maintain the current position at top 2, you will see a lot articles and users in this forum will saying x coin beat ETH and it's become the new king of altcoins. There's a high chance a coin can overtake ETH, but it's impossible if BTC get beaten by altcoins.

I think in a sense, ETH can be called "King of Altcoins", when measured in terms of capitalization, cost and user community. Will it always be like this? Unknown. If another project becomes more popular and more expensive, and most importantly, finds a better application among mankind, then the "King of Altcoins" ETH will no longer be. So, this can be called a temporary and passing title, for the time being.

In fact, no matter how you call this or that project, the main thing is the acceptance of this by the user community and the presence of usefulness.

Looking at the last few years and also right now i would definitely say, that Ethereum is the king of all altcoins. As you say, you just need to look at the current marketcap of the cryptocurrency projects and it is already obvious that Ethereum is by far the biggest crypto project, besides Bitcoin itself of course. It's marketcap is more than 4 times higher than the one of Binance.
I also think that ETH is the king of altcoins for another reason. ETH was the project, that invented smart contracts, which was probably the biggest and most important thing that happened in the crypto space since it was invented. Without smart contracts we would not have Defi, NFT's, Tokens. Dexes and so on.

That's right, I can say that Ethereum is the king of Altcoins, because of him Altcoin innovations were raised and growing and making more developers able to develop their own tokens more easily and quickly.

    Maybe for now yes second or next into Bitcoin. But there are other altcoins that are ready to replace ETH in its rank now in my opinion.

Others have probably noticed this too, Some of those lined up in my line-up that can usurp ETH's position are Bnb, Solana at others.

it's not wrong to think this way, because for now, the best altcoin still belongs to ethereum. this proves that ethereum's position is still number two in CMC or CG. having a second place in that place means having a lot of advantages. So, if this is the throne, then ethereum can be called the king of altcoins for now. However, that does not mean that the king of altcoins cannot be replaced. this is the throne up for grabs. I remember that XRP also beat Ethereum on CMC. however, it was not for long. well, this is a contested throne and can change at any time. however, for now, ethereum can be called the king of altcoins.

I just think bitcoin is the king of cryptos and nothing else. I don't consider ETH the king of altcoins but it's okay for people to think of it that way because it's up to each person's perception. And we also can't blame those who say that because they must have other reasons.

We don't know whether ETH's position in the second number will be replaced in the future. So maybe at this time, ETH can be said to be the king for altcoins but still, all altcoins will follow the movement of bitcoin, including ETH.

I think yes because eth is coin number 2 in market cap moreover many people say eth is bitcoin killer but we have to know bitcoin is king of crypto we have to accept that but eth can also be said king of altcoins.

I mean yeah, its the top 2 cryptocurrencies so its probably the king of altcoins, Most of the altcoins probably don't come near to Bitcoin and Ethereum when it comes to market price so these two giants are just the best as a cryptocurrency and even on the investment, most of the investors would easily suggest Ethereum as an investment after bitcoin no problem. When bitcoin becomes a thing there are a lot of projects trying to replicate bitcoin's success, but Ethereum has a different structure, different supply, etc. and that's structure is probably genius having its own network, these days other projects are now replicating Ethereum creating new networks, etc. I guess its a testimony to Ethereum's success in making a genius structure that could possibly be a big thing these years.

Yes! Atleast according to me! The way bitcoin is considered as the king of cryptos because it has all started with bitcoin, similarly ETH is the pioneer in smart contracting. So it enjoys a huge support from the global community. So it is the king of altcoins for sure.

Also with the movement to POS algorithm, the fees has come down to an acceptable level. So it has all potential to stay as a king and most sought after altcoin.

It is a fact that Ethereum is well known crypto token that is on second number after bitcoin. It is very trustworthy like Bitcoin but it can never come more successful than bitcoin. Among altcoins Ethereum is the foremost option and everyone rushes in bearish season to buy Ethereum. for long period if time holding of Ethereum is very crucial for maximizing the profit.

Whether it's relevant or not is just an analogy, it doesn't refer to any gender. I also call Bitcoin the King OF Crypto because bitcoin is the reference for all altcoins in cryptocurrency.

There's nothing to complicate the term, just a nickname and anyone can call him whatever.

Ethereum is currently also a reference for all emerging network platforms, and ethereum has a Layer 2 to Layer 3 network, that's quite an extraordinary development.

It is obvious that ETH is the king of altcoins and there is little discussion to be had about this, there were other coins that tried to challenge that supremacy during the previous bull runs and they simply failed to surpass it despite some glaring issues with ethereum, like the high fees, and despite all of that ETH is still the king of altcoins, and now that its developers are actually trying to fix some of those issues then I see little hope of this changing anything soon.

We can consider it as the king of altcoins since we’ve seen ETH to be on the top spot for more years now and there’s no altcoins that seems to replace that spot even if they claim that they are ETH killer.

This altcoins has improved a lot and i know there’s still a of things that needs to improve with ETH, if they are able to do this most probably they will grow more and stay on that spot especially on next bull run.

It wont be ranking as #2 if it wasnt, yes of course we could really say that it is king of altcoins considering about its overall marketcap and daily volume which means that the community do mainly supported it.Speaking about use case then there's no doubt that it is indeed the best altcoin that we do have today but somehow the only thing i do complaint about this blockchain is that it does have some huge fees whenever you do make out transactions.If ever this one would really be solved out then for sure it would rise up its price even more.
Although it cant make out some guarantees that it wouldnt be overtaken by much better altcoin in the future.

I think it is the king, if we talk about altcoins and its rank on the different ranking/tracking platform ethereum is still the largest altcoin, it is always next to bitcoin so i think the king of altcoin is ethereum, there are many new altcoins like polygon, fantom, doge, etc., But still ethereum is number one in rank even if there is a gas issue in Ethereum platform but still many people use Ethereum because they trust it.

If being on top of many can be considered as a king, then most probably yes.
ETH is still a good altcoins for almost 5 years now, though I remember XRP replace ETH on top but it didn’t last longer for some reason. There’s still a good update to come with ETH, let’s just wait and see if they are going to address some issues with ETH and improve their network.

of course it is, all of the popular smart contract project which currently dominating the ranks of top altcoins are all derived from ethereum using EVM exactly the same like ethereum even though some might be different, but still ethereum is the one that proposes the smart contract first, it could be considered like that because its dominance is also quite big enough but doesn't mean ethereum could always hold its position it have bigger chance of getting replaced by other coins that's trending since it has been overtaken a few times.

yes, of course Ethereum has no rivals with other altcoins and Ethereum deserves to be called the king of altcoins. besides having a large market capitalization, the ethereum platform is also widely used in the development of large and successful projects. I think ethereum deserves the nickname you mentioned.

Perhaps, your insights are right. We already know that ETH had played an important role more than any altcoins in the market. Not totally I would say it was the king among altcoins but considering its huge participation in raising the crypto market together with Bitcoin, we can say that it was a big factor to think that ETH deserves to be in its current position next to Bitcoin. And no other altcoins could ever take that place or be even more valuable than what it did to the crypto world.

as long as there is no higher quality altcoin like ethereum, both in terms of decentralization and from the largest market capitalization funds obtained by ethereum on the exchange. what I know now is that ethereum is a very high quality Altcoin and has the largest holder among other Altcoins. and it seems very reasonable if Ethereum is mentioned as the king of Altcoins

yes, it is possible that the bull season will repeat itself like the previous year, we hope it will be like that again. talking about ethereum, it's true as you said that there are parties who really want to replace ETH. but that will never happen with Ethereum. I am of the opinion that no Altcoin can replace the tremendous growth of Ethereum in the market.

I don't like the expression "king" in a decentralized cryptocurrency. It somehow does not harmonize: the king is a symbol of the complete centralization of power, and I do not think that this word is appropriate to use in cryptocurrency. Here, for ethereum, you can use the word "altcoin leader", it will be more correct. Ethereum is a well-deserved leader of altcoins in all respects and has been for a very long time.

Just to make it a bit more clear, ETH is the second one, and if we ignore USDT which is not a crypto currency but a stablecoin, then we could say that BNB is the third one and they have less than 25% of their marketcap, imagine the fact that your closes rival is not even four times smaller than you, it's even smaller. On the other hand the next biggest one after that is XRP which has 19 billion marketcap, which means it's even less than 10% ethereums market cap as well.

This type of big differences should make it clear for everyone that ETH is solid at the position it's in and there is no cryptocurrency that could take its place, not anytime soon at least and for many years.

since ethereum was launched it seems that ethereum is always at the highest level above other altcoins, in other words ethereum always leads altcoins with no other competitors even though many other altcoins want to compete with the Eth platform. but until now ethereum has always been the king of Altcoins as you said

Why would you even think there would be any other altcoin that would have that title, and what would be the properties that would give that name to any other coin out there.

When you look at the development, adoption and just a number of layer 2 projects are been build on top of it. It's would be insane to give that title to any other project.
Now one could argue that their project would be working better than eth, but that's whole another issue and most likely based on a populist lie.

no doubt the ethereum platform is the best by giving birth to big and sophisticated projects, different from the others. almost 85% of projects with the rare ethereum network fail to develop their projects, no wonder the cost of ethereum is comparable to the altcoin erc20 which keeps getting expensive

I wonder what is that other altcoin who also has the title of king of alt? But if I can guess, it was BNB? Because this alt is backed by the number 1 exchange (Binance) and also has lots of supporters but if we look about the date of creation and other details, ETH can still win the competition.

People based on the rankings, that is because rankings does not lie and before CMC ranks a coin, they have done a lot of calculations and analysis. If the cryptos has gender I think it will sound better to call it a queen than king because ETH sounded like a feminine name. Don't worry because queen is still the same as king in terms of ranking. It was still number one.

considering the emergence of many second layer solution still says that ethereum is relevant and gonna be relevant in the far future, it's the same case like bitcoin where it reigns over the other coins, ethereum too have its own category where it reigns that is the smart contract and EVM based platform.

Everything you said is reasonable. ETH won't be matched by any other altcoin in the short term, probably never in my life. I admire ETH's dedication and contribution to the crypto world and despite all the success, it is still serving the space well. Mind you, not many big names can live up to their reputation when they become extremely successful. If we see the whole crypto world as a Kingdom, of course it is reasonable to call Bitcoin the king and ETH the queen. The titles do not really matter but the good thing is that we all agree on their status and importance.

Yes, Ethereum is the king among altcoins that made many investors to continue to chose Ethereum as their first choice to invest among other cryptocurrencies despite the high fees involved. Obviously, it's design is very much different with Bitcoin. Nothing to prove that ETH is the king of altcoins but based on its rank and the function of the said platform, we can say that it was deserved to be called that. In fact, we can't argue the potentiality of the project even though we can see that fees are to high compared to other platforms. Yet, it was to know that with the solid foundation of ETH and the supportive developers/team, we can therefore say that it was worth to be on top among altcoins after Bitcoin.

With a large market cap in the area and no rival projects, Ethereum is ranked second on the list. The project is reliable and existed before some alternative currencies. It is completely inappropriate to compare Ethereum to BNB because Ethereum has a Blockchain that stands out for facilitating crypto transactions in the market and is made up of a robust network, whereas BNB is a native token that originated from the Binance exchange. Different influencers, Vitalik is the master mind behind the Ethereum project while CZ is the CEO of binance, they both shared interests in common.

Excellent point. ETH and BNB are fundamentally different in terms of type and positioning to the entire crypto world. ETH has a higher level of trust among investors than BNB and the market cap is of course way bigger than BNB's. I agree with you, because now there are many altcoin that have the same project as ETH and the one that has a great chance to replace ETH in the future is BNB (becoming the king of altcoin), because for now many investors and projects are starting to invest and use blockchain from BNB, so that's what makes me sure if one day BNB has a great opportunity to replace ETH.

In the topic of discussing alt, there is no doubt that it is taking a big position in the current cryptocurrency space. I've also been an early ETH investor so I can see the problems they're having right now. Maybe in the future there will be new candidates strong enough to take this position, but before that, ETH was too strong.

BNB is a coin which has gained a lot of support over the years and yet it is still far away from taking the spot of ethereum as the most popular altcoin, and while the change from POW to POS has made ethereum a centralized altcoin, BNB is even worse in the sense that it is backed by an exchange, and even if their position as the most powerful exchange around the world seems to be unshakable, we must not forget people thought the same about Mt Gox and look at how it ended.

I would say yes, basically because the majority of these other altcoins go through the process of the Ethereum blockchain. Moreover, we've seen a lot of other project installations copying Ethereum designs and layouts. It is no doubt the mother of altcoins.

The development of ethereuem give rise to the bird of altcoins since most of the altcoins at that time runs their smart contract on the ethereuem blockchain which is the only available chain at that time that aids altcoin scalability.

the answer is kinda easy as long as there is always many tokens that is in the ethereum blockchain, its value will always rise, unfortunately many have switched to layer 2 and side chains, but regardless these are called that for a reason basically just to help the existence of ethereum, basically giving a way to solve the fee, but they'd still copy the system of ethereum like EVM and smart contract.

Exactly. BNB is still far away from ETH in most aspects and personally I don't think the day of BNB overtaking ETH will come soon. It's like the comparison between New Money and Old Money. Those most wealthy families in the world have intricate relationships with all powerful men/governments that last for many decades or centuries. A businessman, by whatever means, earns billions of dollars within a few years can never live up to that status of Old Money. It's never as simple as a number game. To be honest, I like CZ and Binance very much but do they have a chance of becoming the king of altcoins ? I don't see that coming any time soon.

Bitcoin will always be the king of crypto. But with having a marketcap of almost $210 billion it is safe to admit that ETH is the King of altcoins.
This marketcap is more then 4 times of next Altcoin BNB. So I do not think there will ever be another Altcoin to have the volume that Ethereum does.
Add to this it has a use case and dapps and this only makes this statement stronger. Bitcoin always going to be number 1 of all the crypto with Ethereum behind it. 

If new projects always use Ethreum Network then ethereum will be the king of altcoins as it is today, with the current amount of daily trades, ethereum is ranked 2 cmc, I still remember when XRP was ranked 2, will it happen, I expect a lot of projects new with lower transaction fees than Ethereum and a good security network

it can be said that ETH is indeed the king of altcoins for now, but no one ever knows the development of the crypto world in the future, because there are very many competitors from ETH which in my opinion are as good or even better than ETH, for example BNB which is now very ahead of other altcoins

If we are talking in a general sense and market capitalisation then yes you can call it whatever you want to in altcoin world as it's still trading above $1800 while all other are at very less price.But their positions can be shifted anytime but ETH has huge market cap with most of the tokens using its blockchain so they are sub parts of it.If anyone is interested in investment then it's comparatively safe because it's not going to collapse all of a sudden unlike most of altcoins.

Since its the number 2 in the overall marketcap and its the number 1 on the list of all altcoins, isnt it considered to be the king? I think they have the rights to be called as that. See bitcoin everyone knows its the number 1 in all crypto and it shown in the information. In terms of other aspect, many tech surpass bitcoin but we are talking about proven worth, and its only can be measured by its value. So is eth.

Although it must be admitted that BNB is also a good altcoin and outperforms other altcoins, it is extremely difficult to surpass ETH. Similar to what we are talking about ETH overtaking BTC, it is still possible, but it is an impossible task and will take a lot of time to accomplish.

Perhaps they are a lot of them but something we know is that ETH is one of the more well-established platforms of any of those competitors. We can't neglect the chance for one there is another project that will replace ETH on its rank, just like it happen before when XRP did it but it only happens for a couple of od days. Well no doubt about that, although many altcoins out there have a good smart contract either but in the journey Ethereum takes almost all events in the market and still standing until now. I hope that Ethereum will keep at good performance since there are a lot of new competitors out there if Ethereum can't keep up then it will step down from being the top altcoin.

For me, I accept Ethereum as the king of altcoins. So far, Ethereum is always following Bitcoin. If there is a second on to bitcoin it should be litecoin. Similar structure just faster, and not as expensive to pass it on.

However, the decision to move to PoS from PoW took away their miner support and left ETH as not being any more hardened than other altcoins. Some, like Polygon are even more advance while being cheaper and handling more volume. ETH may continue to be the most valuable altcoin, but only because it’s holders are rich enough to keep it that way.

Well said. What's keeping ETH afloat are none other than whales. There's a lot of money invested into this cryptocurrency, anyways. It may have turned into a PoS "shitcoin", but it's still a better option than BNB or Solana. No other altcoin comes close to ETH in terms of user acceptance and market demand. Maybe ETH is the best altcoin right now because of its use cases, trading volume and market capitalization. But before ETH got into that, it was overtaken by XRP a few times. For now, this is the most likely altcoin that is worth to DCA other than Bitcoin. However, it does not guarantee that ETH will be the best for long.

And speaking of that, I did DCA some ETH back then when it was still hovering around $1k or more that time but eventually because of my ignorance and not transferring it to my hardware wallet, it ended up got hacked last month in my Metamask without having any clue at all.

XRP doesn't have smart contracts, and it's not as widely accepted as ETH for the payment of goods and/or services. Your points are great but speaking of buying and holding ETH, I bought some when the price went high as $2.1K but afterwards price has been declining to $1.8K as of now. Well, I know one day the price will surely rise again but seeing that I bought at such high price, I still feel bad somehow. I don't think it's debatable if any other coin could possibly be the King of Altcoins.  I think market cap speaks volumes for itself and no other coin is close.  So many other coins also take advantage of Ethereum's blockchain to process their tokens, etc...  What would the altcoin market even be without ETH?  How would things like USDT and Polygon even work without ETH?  I also think the amount of regulators that are in bed with ETH already will make it difficult for any other coin to reach that level of success.  People have begun shutting doors behind BTC and ETH to lock out any newcomers.  Big money has spoken.

As altcoin that being used massively no doubt that eth can claim that title. Everyone has used eth in quite sometime and still been using to interact to famous dapps that runs to its ecosystem. In terms of transaction I think its way more than bitcoin. Bitcoin only used as peer to peer currency and some accepted it on some establishments but its the same for eth. Bitcoin doesnt have ecosystem for other project unlike them that they can be used for defi and other medium. I think Vitalik has built a near-perfect system... Of course, we have some problems. As a simple example, the fee problem due to scaling problems might be one of them. However, even though we have scaling issues, we are still in a safe haven. I think Ethereum is the king of altcoins, but once Vitalik manages to overcome some minor issues like scaling and privacy, Ethereum will be the undisputed king of altcoins.

If ETH puts itself together by addressing scaling and privacy issues, then yes, it will become the undisputed king of altcoins. But it's hard to deal with the "blockchain trilemma" without sacrificing centralization in the long run. You'd have to choose if you want lower fees at the cost of centralization, or keep the high fees while retaining decentralization and censorship-resistance.

I think ETH will choose centralization given the measures it has taken recently (change to PoS, and developers' proposal to increase the minimum staking amount). It's a pity because ETH once stood for crypto's original values. Fortunately, not all hope is lost. The original Ethereum chain (Ethereum Classic) is still with us, so the community has nothing to lose. This chain still uses PoW and it's currently far more decentralized than ETH. Who knows if it grows until it becomes the third-largest chain after Ethereum (ETH)? Just my opinion :)

Well, long time ago, I think Ethereum has position 1 in the altcoin world. Not even BNB can surpass that. many altcoins have functions like Ethereum, such as BNB, Matic, and others which have several advantages, but until now there has not been a single altcoin that can exceed Ethereum.

One of my turn off about Ethereum is because of the high network fee that makes it expensive for users to trade with it especially when swapping within the Ethereum Blockchain.   That's what I was thinking before, but this time I can't say that ETH is the king of all altcoins here in this field of business. I see a lot of things that are better than ETH, to be honest, and I also see that ETH is outperformed by others because of the expensive transaction fee it has, while others are lower, but the flow and status here in the crypto space are also good.

  There are many other altcoins that are more useful than ETH, in my opinion, such as aptos, Trc20, BEP20, and ARB. These are just some of the ones that I have seen that are more advantageous than ETH.

Yeah, no doubt that the fees for transactions are no longer cheaper but one of the reasons why many have liked it is because for having a very cheap network fee before.
Well, time changes and when a network has promised before to be cheap in transaction fees can no longer stand its promise because of how clogged and high demand transactions on it.

We should not use transaction fee to invest in a coin because if the coin or the project will cause traffic in the future then definitely it create network congestion and once the network of the particular cryptocurrency is congested then the fee must be increased to meet up the traffic. Now that Ethereum transaction fee is very low is because the number of users in the Blockchain are not much as Bitcoin. Bitcoin is recording millions of users while Ethereum is recording hundreds of users so the different is always clear.

If anyone is investing in Ethereum let the person should invest in Bitcoin too because the time when you want to harvest the Ethereum Bitcoin has already given you more profit already.

Like btc is the king of altcoins, for me ethereum is the queen but let's say for now, in the future everything can change, why is it the queen? because it has a good smart contract the highest number of ERC20 tokens, the only negative thing is the fees for transactions which can sometimes be very high

Cheaper than Bitcoin yes but there are other coins that are cheaper than ETH in terms of fees. But no need for any argument on this, I like ETH but sometimes we can't stand the fees when there's congestion as it goes crazy and becomes more than a dollar or five or even ten.

I agree. Before anyone invests in Ethereum, let it known to invest first with Bitcoin and then go ahead to ETH or any other altcoins. A lot of investors do forget to buy Bitcoin because they're too distracted by the influencers, friends and hypes that they can see on the market.

NO! Let me explain. The government is after every cryptocurrency and that's why they are shoving CBDC in civilian's throats forcefully. Even if Ethereum manage to break all the record and become the best in altcoins, it will become the government's target alongside Bitcoin. And as we know, Ethereum is centralized and with that knowledge, we can easily say that, if the government wants, they can control it. We don't want that.

Ethereum in every expect is the optimal candidate to be called the king of Alts. Atleast for the time being.
Ethereum was the pioneer of sidechain network, smart contracts and decentralized applications. There were already the ideas and Ethereum was the first to implement it.
So, it had a head start than other altcoins. Most people who only considered Bitcoin as a crypto came to know of the Ethereum as an alternative.
Though not the first alt but it was the first alt to get huge institutional investments. And marketcap wise, it's 2nd for most of the crypto history.

It is clear that bitcoin is known as the king of crypto market therefore second largest coins with greater percentage of success is known as ethereum so if bitcoin is a king of all crypto coins then it is also true that among altcoins ethereum is on top which is consider as a king among all altcoins as its rate of success is higher than that of other altcoins.
If someone hesitate to put money in altcoins due to disappearing nature so if they see the past of Ethereum then surely they will trust other altcoins too. Exactly, we can consider Ethereum as the King of Altcoin. Ethereum is the second largest coin since I started like way back 2017, ETH is still the second coin in the ranking. Ethereum have a lot of potential, I think it will have a good run as long as Bitcoin is still moving forward. I will also agreed to you that Ethereum is the most successful altcoin. Yeah Ethereum will not gonna surpass Bitcoin even in a million years.

I can't really tell if ETH is that good like what almost everyone is saying, I have a friend that invest both in ETH and bitcoin anytime I ask him about his investment he will say fine and have not notice him having problem with both coins.

From what have observe he has never made any bad comment against ETH so I will say ETH is also good but not compared to bitcoin. From my little knowledge ETH is more cheaper to buy compared to bitcoin so ETH give room to investors that cannot afford bitcoin.

We can all accept that bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrencies while ethereum the king of altcoins, because it is next to bitcoin and not only that, it always has a nice performance just lime bitcoin because it's also reliable, but using other indices as an indicator, we may also say that only the altcoins that currently has a nice performance of recent time should be the king of altcoins and any other that has a nice push could also have the opportunity of taking the best from the previous well performed coin.

eth is one of my favorite coins.  but what is certain is that I'm not the only one who likes eth.  every cryptocurrency trader and user will love eth.  This is all inseparable from how big and developed ETH has become over time as a long-term investment medium apart from BTC.

Of course, apart from BTC, there is ETH which is the favorite and has the most potential for the long term. For me, of the thousands of altcoins available, Ethereum will see a significant increase in value. Right now Ethereum is in upward momentum, and over the last week ETH managed to experience a significant increase in value. So it is very suitable for ETH to be used as a long-term investment besides BTC.

Binance chain is just copy of Ethereum chain.. The popularity of BSC chain is due to Binance exchange.. People trust BSC chain and number of partnership of big projects are because of high demand of community. Bsc chain is good to save fee but there is no project still launched which will be competitive of the Ethereum..

Solona was known for Ethereum killer and now Solona CEO denied this which clearly shows that no project is competitive of Ethereum..Layer2 project Arbitrum, Optimism and even Matic are so far to reach despite of low fee and many new features.. Ethereum is Long term project and only altcoins we could trust after btc

I think this statement is only temporary and could possibly be interpreted as just an expectation. Automatic and Sol have proven to be good in performance but it takes a long time to get there.

The reality is, eth is only the pure altcoin among available cryptocurrencies. Others cryptos will come and go, keep changing but eth is still on its position. After btc, eth is the only crypto that ensure you best investment. Many L1 altcoins already in market, considering them ether killer but eth is still dominating the market & hold its existence since a decade with favorable blockchain network and advanced technology

Ethereum is really worth the investment, since it is the most highly correlated with Bitcoin we always expect the price to keep soaring high as long as Bitcoin experiences a pump including also during the DIP but there is a correctness of continuity in the market unlike other Altcoins.

Ethereum is big because of its ecosystem, BNB tried to go the same path but couldn't. As long as more crypto use Ethereum blockchain it will remain on the top of all altcoins. Solana is doing it differently and that is why it has grown so fast. It will be able to challenge BNB but it will take a lot of efforts to beat Ethereum from.where it sits now. I don't think a future without two cryptocurrencies the first one being Bitcoin and the second on is Ethereum.

For now Ethereum is the father of altcoins and there is not disagreement about that. Ethereum had been in that market for years now and it and been maintaining a good atmosphere and supporting projects but the problem is that the transaction fee is too exorbitant. There should be something to be done to prevent the depositing if the coin. Maybe in the future something might be done to help more users to join the project. After Bitcoin, Ethereum is the next project with huge market capitalization.

This is the reason most people are not yet convenient with Ethereum even Litecoin and XRP withn lower market cap has a lesser fee. If not for the versatility of Ethereum I don't think it will be the king of Altcoins due to high gas fee and lower transaction speed compared to Bitcoin.

Ethereum have been managing to hold the top altcoin for many years now(at least since I have learn this forum) so how can we ask this question when it is already obvious about them being the top currency? and besides Vitalik will do everything for this coin to remain this high.

I think that it is still valid to call it the king of altcoins nowadays. It's based on its current market cap and the contribution that it did to the market. Knowing that it's where the smart contracts came from or if not, it's the one that has got a lot of projects that have used it until they've got their own mainnet. Until now, there's still too many projects that chooses to have their chain on it but they're no longer the only option nowadays as there are also a lot of interesting projects that have copied the style of ETH on how it became successful.

if we are talking about king of altcoin i think even though arguably it can be crowned to ethereum, lets be frank here, even though each altcoin has its own uniqueness, but it still somewhat derive from the smart contract system that are presented by ethereum nowadays.
despite there are some that uses different engine than EVM but arguably they are still using the same concept as ethereum, smart contract, and also ethereum is the most widely used altcoin right now, the fee alone is a proof that there's not any lack of people using it instead people always soght after it, overall if i were to choose which coin deserve the title of a king from these alone i would easily say without the need to think that ethereum definitely deserve to be called that.

As Bitcoin, is king of all the cryptocurrencies, Ethereum, is the undisputed second to Bitcoin, and in altcoins category, it's the undeniable king, the fact is still there to proof it, so it's not about personal opinions. Whether Ethereum, can be detroned in the future is where opinions comes in, because there are other too altcoins in the market too, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. We've seen Bitcoin ETF, hopefully in May, we'll see Ethereum, ETF, then other top altcoins can be jostling for positions, after the number 1 king and the number 2 king have passed the hurdle.

I think Ethereum will be replaceable in the future. Maybe it will take a very long time. The only coin that will not be replaced is Bitcoin. Ethereum and other altcoins will compete for position as first. Currently, many people have started to use other coins for transactions such as LTC, ADA, DOT, Matic and even BSC. Even though there are some that are layer-2 of the ethereum system, coins such as matic and bsc can provide much lower transaction costs than ethereum.

Bsc chain is also popular due to its low charging fee and how some projects are built under its Blockchain. The authentication of ETH over BSc arise due to much fake projects built under BSc. Most investors highly trust projects built on ETH Blockchain to that of BSc. This has given ETH more upper hand than BSc in the crypto space.

I don't think so, but ETH is already the king of altcoins. especially if you look at market capitalization and ethereum developers continue to improve themselves so that ethereum gets better. that alone is enough to make Ethereum the king of altcoins.

if we are talking about the gas fee in which maybe the developer can do something about it then I guess, i guess it somehow could raise the ethereum position as you have stated earlier.
the thing though there have been many efforts and overall the current problem are nowhere to be solved.
the l2 instead of taking off some transactions instead making eth fee high as well you see the contract that these L2 used to submit their transaction to the L1 its always becoming among the top gas guzzlers, though arguable because of these L2 people could make their transaction in the L2 and get cheaper fee but it doesn't resolve the problem that ethereum L1 is having.
the gas fee right now minimum is 50 gwei floating around that to 100 which is kinda massive. to be honest not to mention ethereum nearing all time high just make things worse.

for now there is no doubt to say ETH is the king of altcoins, but in the future there may be an altcoin that can beat ETH and become the new king of altcoins. nothing is impossible because technology continues to develop and innovation continues. Every time there are new altcoins that emerge bringing the latest innovations and more sophisticated technology. yes I know it probably won't happen in a short time but in the world of crypto nothing is impossible.

If you may permit to say this because I believe we are all here to learn from each other, for me I don't see anything wrong with use of that work king as attributed to ETH as the king of altcons reason being that words has contextual meaning and denotative and kind in this concept is referring to it's contextual meaning, that is by the way ETH has significantly second Bitcoin from creation and in market capitalization and has stayed long enough without being dump unlike some abandoned projects but has consistently follow Bitcoin back to back in the market capitalization that is one of the reasons why it has been considered as king of altcoins.

Ethereum has been one of the best performing cryptocurrencies or altcoins in the world since the beginning of 2017, and is also the best coin after Bitcoin which is the choice of many investors to create long-term profits. And ethereum deserves to be the king of altcoins now and in the future, because nothing can match it and only speculation will exist and there are altcoins that replace ethereum, but they don't work.
And what I see is that the price of ethereum right now is almost close to $40K and this is an all-time high and it will most likely go even higher. And investors still believe and there will continue to be investors who consider ethereum to be the best investment after Bitcoin in terms of long-term profits. And I'm talking about profits and also popularity, which is exactly what it is.
