I just think that at this point some other coin overtaking ethereum throne as it is right now will be hard.
the disparity in market capitalization alone already reflects how difficults its gonna be for some other coin that hasn't even as established as ethereum to overtake it.

I think Vitalik has built a near-perfect system... Of course, we have some problems. As a simple example, the fee problem due to scaling problems might be one of them. However, even though we have scaling issues, we are still in a safe haven. I think Ethereum is the king of altcoins, but once Vitalik manages to overcome some minor issues like scaling and privacy, Ethereum will be the undisputed king of altcoins.

If ETH puts itself together by addressing scaling and privacy issues, then yes, it will become the undisputed king of altcoins. But it's hard to deal with the "blockchain trilemma" without sacrificing centralization in the long run. You'd have to choose if you want lower fees at the cost of centralization, or keep the high fees while retaining decentralization and censorship-resistance.

I think ETH will choose centralization given the measures it has taken recently (change to PoS, and developers' proposal to increase the minimum staking amount). It's a pity because ETH once stood for crypto's original values. Fortunately, not all hope is lost. The original Ethereum chain (Ethereum Classic) is still with us, so the community has nothing to lose. This chain still uses PoW and it's currently far more decentralized than ETH. Who knows if it grows until it becomes the third-largest chain after Ethereum (ETH)? Just my opinion

ethereum has become the king of all altcoins to date and so far only BNB has been able to disrupt the movement of ethereum, and even then BNB still has no ability. as you said that until now if we look at the market cap it is clear that ethereum is still at number 2, only below bitcoin. the most important thing is of course that investors still really like ethereum as a very attractive investment, so it really deserves ethereum to be the best for altcoins.

Ethereum is the second largest cryptocurrency after Bitcoin. No other ultracoin compares to Ethereum.  I have always considered ETH to be the king of Altcoins and I believe ETH is the most successful smart contract platform that other altcoins have yet to create such a successful platform. And anyone who prefers Ethereum to invest in Altcoins has the biggest fan base.Ethereum is very popular and I think if the gass fee can be reduced then its investment will increase.I always invest in Ethereum and hold some my wallet.

With upcoming network upgrades aimed to improve the Blockchain's transaction capacity, one would expect ETH's position to solidify in the market. The vast majority of alternative smart contract platforms use the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), even though many of them claim to be the next "Ethereum Killer". It's like saying Edge will "kill" Chrome even when it's based on the same engine. Ethereum essentially became the dominant smart contract platform because of its innovations. Not to mention, it was the first Blockchain to offer the ability to write and/or execute smart contracts.

ETH has first mover advantage just like BTC, so it's practically impossible to take it down as the world's second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap. Who knows if many altcoins will die, leaving us with ETH and a few oldies (LTC, DOGE) "to play with"? Just my opinion

Well, long time ago, I think Ethereum has position 1 in the altcoin world. Not even BNB can surpass that. many altcoins have functions like Ethereum, such as BNB, Matic, and others which have several advantages, but until now there has not been a single altcoin that can exceed Ethereum.
It's just that, even though Ethereum currently has the first position in the world of altcoins, it could be replaced by other altcoins in the future.

And what's good with ETH is that it's able to make a lot of better coins today and had owned their own mainnets as well. One perfect example is BNB.

It came from being an ERC20 token and when it has been cultivated and grown, it had launched its own chain and then it's now like an ETH that has its BEP20/BSC network.

Presently we could call ETH the king of alts. It's arguably the second most popular crypto after bitcoin and as of market valuation, they are on second spot among volatile cryptocurrencies for years now without any viable competition.
The market valuation of ETH is now 6 times that of it's next competitor BNB. That's a hue gap for BNB or any coins to fill in coming years. Though I believe it's likely for ETH to lose it's position rather than ETH replacing Bitcoin, but it could take 10 more years.
