The 4th round matches of the Turkish Cup start today. Super League teams will play starting from this round. The teams that finish the Super League in the top 4 places will participate in the cup in the next round.

I don't expect any big surprises in this round. Trabzonspor plays with Çorum FK. The rivals of other Super League teams are also quite weak. Let's see if there will be any surprises today.

Its not surprising to see lower teams hitting higher rounds in Turkish cup in my opinion. My favourite is obviously Galatasaray, but I think tight schedule of bigger teams make them rotate their squad and this can cause weird issues, like eliminating to weak teams.

In today 4th round of the Turkish Cup there were 16 matches and the first match today was between Alanyaspor vs Kocaelispor and ended in victory for Alanyaspor who could only score 1 goal.
Starting from the 4th round, there will be increasingly tight competition and later the entry of teams from the top 4 rankings of the Super League will present an even more exciting match because these 4 teams can be sure to dominate the Turkish Cup competition this time.

I think Galatasaray and Fenerbahce will be the favorites and these two teams have no doubt about the quality of their performance.
But for me personally, I would be more inclined to make Fenerbahce the favorite who has big chance of winning the competition and bringing home the Turkish Cup.

The 5th round draw of the Turkish Cup have been announced. In this round, 32 teams will play in a single-elimination format and try to qualify for the last 16 rounds. Matches will be played on January 9-10-11. Here is the draw results:

I don't think there will be any surprises for the big teams in this round, but we need to watch the matches. As a result, we may see serious rotations that will challenge the teams to compete in every tournament.

My favorite in this cup is Fenerbahçe because Fenerbahçe's squad has been expanded in the transfer window to be able to handle both league matches, European Cup matches and this tournament. This will be risky match I assume because Fenerbahçe focuses on Süper Lig for sure. Actually Fenerbahçe has very deep squad to rotate especially against weak teams like Adanaspor. I am expecting Fenerbahçe win as all others expect but I don't think score difference will be that much. 2-0 clean win may actually be good bet here. Or just 3-1. If Fenerbahçe has bad experience in match pretty sure they will let bigger names on pitch to secure themselves.

Galatasaray might not actually be the current leaders in the Turkish Super Lig but I still consider them as the strongest Turkish team at the moment and that's because I think they have greater number of top quality players than any other club in the country. Fenerbahce who currently occupies the first position of the Turkish league standings is the other strong team that's capable of stopping Galatasaray. So I think the two teams are my favorites to win the Turkish Cup this season.

There are literally no favourites for Turkish cup because when bigger Turkish clubs are not on their good day/form, they can all be very easily eliminated. There are so many disaster moments in Turkish cup rounds. Especially in first rounds sometimes, players are not well motivated. Also coach rotates team so that mean below average players playing. Those players very likely don't have any past match together so they will experience chemistry issues too.

Fenerbahce have won important matches in the race for the league title and they continue on their way without any problems. A new adventure begins for Fenerbahce in the Super League. Fenerbahce is strong in terms of squad depth and will rotate well in the Turkish Cup matches. I think they have enough squad for this.
Adanaspor have been inefficient this season and are up against a team in great form. Fenerbahce will have a comfortable win against Adana.

I assume that Besiktas fans must be really satisfied with this improvement in their performance as of Fernando Santos' arrival at the team.  :)  Because since he arrived they have been continually winning. They did the same against Eyupspor in the Turkish Cup as well by 4-0. I mean you know how amazing Eyupspor have been in the second league. This kind of teams can make serious difficulties for big teams which are having tough days. Maybe it was going to be like that for Besiktas if they didn't bring their new manager earlier.

I'm really curious about the future development of this team in Fernando Santos' lead.

I can say that the first surprise of the cup happened today. Anagold Erzincanspor, which is in the two lower leagues, defeated Adana Demirspor, the strong team of the Trendyol Super League, 6-7 as a result of the penalty shootout in the match whose 90 minutes ended 2-2. It was a really productive match for Fenerbahçe against Adanaspor today.  :)  We had 6 shots on target and all of them ended up with goals. Lincoln was finally back after having a really serious knee injury for like 10 months. İsmail Kartal put him in the starting eleven directly in this match and I really liked his performance as well.

Because despite recovering from a really bad injury he scored a goal and made an assist. There have been some speculations like Ankaragucu is interested in Lincoln but I wonder whether Fenerbahçe think of sending him from the team these days.  ???

Last night Beşiktaş and tonight Fenerbahçe won very comfortably. Beşiktaş won 4-0 and Fenerbahçe won 6-0. Despite both of teams squads consisting of reserves, both teams won comfortably in this round. It was a morale boost for the football players who did not have much chance to jersey.

Good choice, you make Galatasaray and Fenerbahce as favorites who will have the opportunity to win the 2024 Turkish Cup and of course that is the right choice considering that both teams are the top and strongest during this season.

I believe Tete is actually a quite skilled player. He is still 23 years old which is an age very open to development. I still can't believe how Galatasaray managed to sign him for free. Shakhtar filed a claim about this transfer but I guess there isn't any problem for Galatasaray side.

The format of the Turkish Cup has changed for next year and it will be group style next year. This seems a little better than the current situation. When there is a group, at least the big teams can go to other cities of the country. In the current situation, the big teams are seeded, so they become the home team and go on the field with mostly reserve players and beat the opponent. The Turkish Cup should be attractive for other city teams as well. Teams like Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray, Beşiktaş should go to cities like Van, Ağrı, Hakkari and Diyarbakır. There are many big team fans in those provinces, but this will be the chance to watch these football players in the stadium for perhaps the first time in his life.
As for the cup format, I like the format of the Spanish King's Cup. I think it can be a good example for Türkiye.

The only way for Anatolian teams and the players playing in these teams to play against big teams is the Turkish Cup. That's why I love cup matches. I assumed that It would be a simple match for Galatasaray. But things weren't really going on very comfortable for them in the first half of the match.
