Its not surprising to see lower teams hitting higher rounds in Turkish cup in my opinion. My favourite is obviously Galatasaray, but I think tight schedule of bigger teams make them rotate their squad and this can cause weird issues, like eliminating to weak teams.

Galatasaray might not actually be the current leaders in the Turkish Super Lig but I still consider them as the strongest Turkish team at the moment and that's because I think they have greater number of top quality players than any other club in the country. Fenerbahce who currently occupies the first position of the Turkish league standings is the other strong team that's capable of stopping Galatasaray. So I think the two teams are my favorites to win the Turkish Cup this season.

There are literally no favourites for Turkish cup because when bigger Turkish clubs are not on their good day/form, they can all be very easily eliminated. There are so many disaster moments in Turkish cup rounds. Especially in first rounds sometimes, players are not well motivated. Also coach rotates team so that mean below average players playing. Those players very likely don't have any past match together so they will experience chemistry issues too.

Fenerbahce have won important matches in the race for the league title and they continue on their way without any problems. A new adventure begins for Fenerbahce in the Super League. Fenerbahce is strong in terms of squad depth and will rotate well in the Turkish Cup matches. I think they have enough squad for this.
Adanaspor have been inefficient this season and are up against a team in great form. Fenerbahce will have a comfortable win against Adana.

I assume that Besiktas fans must be really satisfied with this improvement in their performance as of Fernando Santos' arrival at the team.    Because since he arrived they have been continually winning. They did the same against Eyupspor in the Turkish Cup as well by 4-0. I mean you know how amazing Eyupspor have been in the second league. This kind of teams can make serious difficulties for big teams which are having tough days. Maybe it was going to be like that for Besiktas if they didn't bring their new manager earlier.

I'm really curious about the future development of this team in Fernando Santos' lead.

I can say that the first surprise of the cup happened today. Anagold Erzincanspor, which is in the two lower leagues, defeated Adana Demirspor, the strong team of the Trendyol Super League, 6-7 as a result of the penalty shootout in the match whose 90 minutes ended 2-2. With this result, Adana Demirspor was eliminated from the cup.
In the match, Erzincan team was ahead 0-2 and while they thought the match would end like this, the match went to overtime when they saw 2 goals in the 89th and 90+2 minutes.

Lincoln was finally back after having a really serious knee injury for like 10 months. İsmail Kartal put him in the starting eleven directly in this match and I really liked his performance as well.

Because despite recovering from a really bad injury he scored a goal and made an assist. There have been some speculations like Ankaragucu is interested in Lincoln but I wonder whether Fenerbahçe think of sending him from the team these days.

Last night Beşiktaş and tonight Fenerbahçe won very comfortably. Beşiktaş won 4-0 and Fenerbahçe won 6-0. Despite both of teams squads consisting of reserves, both teams won comfortably in this round. It was a morale boost for the football players who did not have much chance to jersey.

That is really sad especially foe for football lovers expecting a little bit more competition. Adana Demirspor is literally 5th strongest Turkish team right now if we compare squad quality. Its gonna be not enjoyable to watch other teams continuing into next rounds. I suppose its gonna be one of 3 big İstanbul teams winning tournament again. I hope at least Trabzonspor will become more successful and challenge big 3.

Good choice, you make Galatasaray and Fenerbahce as favorites who will have the opportunity to win the 2024 Turkish Cup and of course that is the right choice considering that both teams are the top and strongest during this season.
It just that we will have difficulties if we have to choose which one of the two will win the Turkish Cup later, they each have advantages and can always get satisfactory results from each match.
There is no other team that seems capable of matching and competing with Galatasaray or Fenerbahce, so it is not impossible that other team will be eliminated by themselves in this competition.
Besiktas is the only team that might be able to compete and be able to hinder Galatasaray and Fenerbahce in the race for the Turkish Cup, but if you look at Besiktas matches and performance in the Turkish Super League, it is clear that they have not been able to match their performance with Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.
Maybe Besiktas will only be the third team in the 2024 Turkish Cup competition.

In Adana Demirspor, I think the change of coaches upset the balance of the team, they couldn't have any stability in this regard and the players were dragged into a complete tactical confusion. I don't think there is any other explanation for playing so badly in such matches and getting eliminated.
Adana Demirspor could have been the favorite but since they were eliminated, as you said, Trabzon is now the favorite as well as the 3 istanbul teams.I honestly think that Fenerbahçe can win this cup when Fenerbahçe is doing so well.Even with the reserve squad they are doing really great things.

The favorite in the Turkish cup and the Turkish league at the moment remains fenerbache. in terms of the squad of players and finances, fenerbache is currently the strongest team in Turkey. because it can buy top players in the top European leagues including being able to buy Mauro Icardi from PSG and the players are interested and want to join fenerbache. this indicates that fenerbache is considered an attractive club in Europe.

Konyaspor managed to defeat Goztepe at home. There were not many positions in the first half and it ended in a goalless draw. The second half was more exciting. Goztepe scored the first goal of the match and took the lead, but Konyaspor managed to equalize. The match went into extra time and Konyaspor managed to win the match in extra time and defeated their opponent.
Trabzonspor vs Manisa FK match is going on right now. Trabzonspor managed to dominate heavily against their opponent in the first half. They managed to close the first half 2-1 ahead and most probably they will defeat them.

I was having some doubts about Galatasaray when I first saw their starting 11 for the Umraniyespor match. For now things aren't really going on very comfortable for them. They were 1-0 behind first but now it is 1-1. It is like Barış Alper Yılmaz is the only player doing something on the pitch. Because he was shown a yellow card first after that an own goal by him. Right after that he made up for it by scoring an equalizer. 


Just now Galatasaray have got ahead by 2-1.    It is a goal for Tete which must be some help for his self confidence at the same time. Because Tete couldn't score a single goal until now since the first Copenhagen game in the Champions League group stage.

I believe Tete is actually a quite skilled player. He is still 23 years old which is an age very open to development. I still can't believe how Galatasaray managed to sign him for free. Shakhtar filed a claim about this transfer but I guess there isn't any problem for Galatasaray side.

Galatasaray had a comfortable win tonight. They beat Ümraniyespor 4-1. The game ended as everyone expected.
Barış Alper scored the only goal for Umraniyespor. Barış Alper scored a goal for both teams tonight.

Trabzonspor also won tonight, didn't allow any surprises and advanced to the next round.
