1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sentinel Chain - giving power to the unbanked on: February 22, 2018, 12:38:27 AM
yeah its definitely one of the most exciting projects I've come across!
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Sentinel Chain - giving power to the unbanked on: February 21, 2018, 11:58:18 PM
Hey everyone

I'd like to share a unique project with you that I'm really interested in, called Sentinel Chain.  I 'm always looking for blockchain projects that aim to create social and economic change and to help those in developing parts of the world with less opportunities than many of us.

Sentinel Chain are on a mission to empower the unbanked with a B2B platform aimed at financial inclusion. There are billions of people in the world without access to bank accounts, let alone loans or insurance. Sentinel chain are enabling farmers to turn their livestock, which is considered 'dead' capital in to fungible assets. The implications of doing this are huge, and will give many under privileged people access to the things we take for granted.

Livestock will be tagged with RFID tags with all the relevant information about ownership etc. A huge percentage of farmers living in rural Asia use smart phones, and this is what will give them access to these services. Sentinel Chain are creating an app called CrossPay, which will make managing assets very simple for those not accustomed to some of the complicated aspects of blockchain technology.

The Sentinel Chain token [SENC] will allow various features to be used that offer services to the unbanked. Among these are insurance, loans, collateral, crowdfunding, community projects and e-payments.

Sentinel Chain are partnering with VeChain who already have a strong presence and an exciting future ahead.

“Sentinel Chain’s partnership with VeChain will preserve the right of every individual, particularly the rural unbanked and underserved — to have full access to quality financial services such as livestock insurance and microfinance.” Roy Lai, CEO, Sentinel Chain.

The project has a strong team, a solid and exciting road map, a low hard cap and a rapidly growing community following. I don't get excited about many ICO's, as so many seem to be short term projects aimed making money. Occasionally something unique appears and catches my eye like this.

I'm British but have spent many years in Thailand, and I've met many rural farmers for whom this kind of technology could vastly change their lives for the better. Opportunities to save, get loans and have some financial security should not be limited to the privileged few. I can't wait to see what Sentinel Chain deliver as the possibilities are vast!

Thanks. I just want to find the most hassle free way to keep on top of things

What do you think of Cointracker.io? Seems it does API and its free
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinTracking - Profit/Loss Portfolio and Tax Reporting for Digital Currencies on: February 13, 2018, 06:10:36 AM
Hey everyone

I've been searching for a good way to track my portfolio, and Cointracking seems to be the most highly regarded.

I am confused about a few things :

- If I got a pro account and used API, then as long as I did this for all the exchanges  I use it should give me a constantly updated and accurate portfolio. I heard people mentioning deposits and withdrawals, but from the website it seems to say that all the big exchanges have deposits and withdrawals with API.

- If you use the more manual CSV files, do you have to keep re uploading them to keep your portfolio up to date?

- The pro version says max 3500 transactions in the API imports bit, I'm guessing that means individual trades not each API import?

I don't want to pay for the pro version and then run in to problems!

Thanks in advance
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The simplest way to keep track of my portfolio, average coin prices etc? on: February 09, 2018, 01:59:03 PM
Thanks. I will look, but I was really hoping for something relatively well established, something that lots of people use Smiley
6  Economy / Service Discussion / The simplest way to keep track of my portfolio, average coin prices etc? on: February 09, 2018, 11:17:44 AM
Hi everyone

I am trying to find the right app/website for my needs. I am mostly a buy and holder, but I do buy in small amounts quite often, so I often have multiple buys at different amounts and different prices. then of course I want to know the average price I paid, so I know when is a good time to sell, if I'm in profit or not etc.

I also would like something I can use from anywhere, so with a login using email. Blockfolio is ok, but if I lose my phone its gone.

I am looking for something that is free, can be backed up, preferably used on a phone or desktop

Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks, yes the ICO was very unclear on what to do exactly.

I used MEW and it had a deafult of 21000 for the Gas limit. I just did that, I was only sending a small amount.

It's a bit confusing when i start reading about gas limits! I didnt know about any of this being new to it all

Thanks
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Some practical advice on entering ICO's, please help? on: January 29, 2018, 09:02:50 AM
Hi

I am looking into a few ICOs that are currently running or coming soon. Tradove, BABB, Current, Credits and Ochain.

I am just a little confused about a few things, and none of them make it super clear what to do. The telegram groups are just constant silly messages! So I thought you guys might be able to help.

Once I’m whitelisted, then when the sale starts I just send ETH, or sometimes BTC to the address they provide, and then wait?

People have talked about getting a screenshot of proof of payment just in case, can you explain what this would be if sending ETH or BTC?

I use my ledger nano s hardware wallet, but the BTC address changes every time for anonymity, is this a problem if I send to an ICO using this address? If so what is an alternative?

Should I use MEW to send ETH using my ledger nano s, and how much GAS should you use?

Sorry for the nooby questions, Ive read their pinned telegram messages over and over and asked questions, but its so unclear

Thanks
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! on: January 18, 2018, 10:46:39 AM
Thanks Tony

My worry is that its too diversified! Thats why I am wondering if choosing less coins might make more sense, but I am so new I cant tell.

Because I am new I dont want to put much into many small cap coins, as it seems like a huge gamble, and you never know which will succeed. That is something I will get into in due course, but thought starting a bit safer might make more sense.

Also because of this big correction, I just want to get back out of the red before gambling too much!  Its been a  worrying few days

Thanks

I wasnt asking for people to analyse each coin, more to look at the portfolio as a whole. Do you think its too much to have this many coins in a portfolio?  If so, I just cant work out how to narrow it down when they all seem good!

I'm not asking about specifics on each coin, just do you think there are any mistakes in my choices?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! on: January 18, 2018, 09:50:50 AM
I am in no way meaning to be disrespectful!

I have not picked a load of random coins and asked you to research them. I am saying that after all my research these are the main coins Im interested in, and wanted to get some others opinions, and see if maybe I missed something or if people had some advice for me?

I hope you dont take it the wrong way
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! on: January 18, 2018, 08:25:42 AM
I just invested most of my savings in crypto, and I was very unlucky with timing as the market crashed/corrected the day after. But there is nothing I can do now but wait and hope. I am trying to plan my portfolio...

I have been gathering info and researching for weeks, but the more I research the more I find new coins, and it gets a bit overwhelming and confusing. I have quite a few coins I am interested in but probably too many. I just can't decide!

I am looking to hold things long term for the most part, and only leave 10% for speculative trades. I don't want to watch charts all day like Ive been doing and lose my life to crypto!

So below is my proposed portfolio, but very open to change. Any suggestions welcome, especially if you think I have one coin that is almost certainly better than another and in direct competition.

BTC – 4000
ETH – 4000
LTC – 2000
XMR – 800
NEO – 800
OMG – 1000
ICX – 1000
STRAT – 700

XRB – 600
VEN – 300
WTC – 150
WAVES – 200
REP – 200
XLM – 250
REQ – 150
IOTA – 200
XZC – 150
ZEC -100
GNT – 230
ETHOS – 200

Any help very much appreciated.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Safest coins to hold during the crash/correction? on: January 17, 2018, 01:19:50 PM
Unfortunately I bought in the day before this huge correction began. It was very unlucky timing. I put alot of my savings into the big coins and various alt coins.

As BTC is dropping a lot and other alt coins are too, what is the safest thing to do? I was considering selling all my alt coins for BTC, but also not sure if I should just hodl everything.

I bought some alts which went up a little before the crash and are a similar price now. So I thought to sell them and buy into BTC which is low right now might be a good idea.

Any advice for a noob?

Thanks
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Who knows why every crypto is falling? on: January 16, 2018, 10:01:16 AM
yeah I put most of my savings on recently in the dip after it hit 19k. I thought I was getting a good price. its dropped over 4k euros since I bought, which is very painful to experience. I wish I had waited, but then of course its easy to say in hindsight and if it had gone up I would be saying the opposite

I'm not feeling good right now as I'm new to all of this so it feels like I've made a big mistake
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: High quality Telegram, twitter, facebook feeds to follow? on: January 13, 2018, 10:46:31 AM
thank, will check them out!
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / High quality Telegram, twitter, facebook feeds to follow? on: January 12, 2018, 05:02:09 AM
I'm looking for some good feeds to get up to date info about Crypto. I'm mainly looking for well thought out market analysis and recommendations to check out interesting coins, new projects etc.

I am not looking for ones that claim every shitcoin is going to the moon! Although of course I don't mind if they make recommendations about coins that may be on the way up.

Any recommendations, there are so many!
Thanks
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Zcoin/XZC not arrived after 20 hours, I'm worried, any help? on: January 07, 2018, 06:20:52 AM
Thanks

Is it too soon to do that, or does the fact its got confirmations mean it should be there?  I looked at the address I sent to on Binance, and this is what came up, can you tell anything from this?

https://explorer.zcoin.io/address/aB4jjdBQWQ23ZsaNmzTSzA9MtcYCuWvgGH

Thanks a lot for the help
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Zcoin/XZC not arrived after 20 hours, I'm worried, any help? on: January 07, 2018, 05:20:55 AM
I had some Zcoin(XZC) in my Coinomi android wallet which I transferred from Binance, that worked fine. I then sent some back to Binance, and it's been 20 hours and its not showing? It shows it has left my Coinomi wallet and it says its had 121 confirmations. The address is definitely right, I've checked it 10 times!!

Any ideas, I'm a bit worried?

Thanks
19  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S question, changing receive address and offline sends... on: January 05, 2018, 03:27:01 AM
Thanks

But if they are changing addresses each time for security is it best not to store an old address to use when I am not near my Ledger Nano?

I'm quite new to all this Smiley
20  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Ledger Nano S question, changing receive address and offline sends... on: January 05, 2018, 02:26:27 AM
Hi

I have just set up my Ledger Nano S. I have a question...

- Is it ok to store my receive address on my computer so I can send BTC to my Ledger without having it with me? I guess if I dont have the receive address and the ledger is in its safe place there is no way to do it. I know that each time you use the receive address it is changed for security reasons, but does this mean I shouldn't store a receive address for use in the situation described above?

Thanks
