1  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Shares and Solo Mining on: July 12, 2011, 10:59:50 PM
If I remember correctly there are no shares in solo mining, since you don't need to track that you've done any work for reward distribution, which is why pools have the share system.

Depends on how much you weighed before losing 20 pounds. (Assuming average height) Weight 250 pounds and lose 20 = healthy. Weight 100 pounds and lose 20 = dying.

Yeah, I guess standing on a soapbox and trying to get everyone to think that bitcoin mining is over, disregarding basic math, ignoring simple accounting, and posting ten threads a day is quite complex.... oh wait. It's not.

How about I call you a ex-con every day, and see if it eventually sticks?

Because it's about as true as the BS you're alleging about me.

You just vomit what others have said, never rising above a elementary school playground level of discussion or reasoning (read: name-calling).

It only takes a few of you're doom threads to get a general idea of what your mindset is, and really easy to see that you disregard the very things I listed. There's a good reason why I don't try to discuss anything specifically with you, since every single topic started by you is all FUD and doom threads, which General section is full of. I'm sorry if you think that I have to reply to every single topic you create in order to have an opinion on this one, but luckily, for me at least, that's not how discussion forums work. I really don't know why I'm responding now, since all you do is cry when all your doom and gloom threads turn out this way.

It's also funny that you're accusing me of not being able to discuss, but you're counter argument/discussion/reply to my post was more name calling. You didn't even try to defend yourself or any of your claims. Maybe there's a reason why all of your topics result in your elementary school playground...

Here's some advice: Make a new account and stop with this nonsense. You might as well start bring up Y2K doom again at the rate you're going.

And you can try to call me an ex-con every day, but I doubt that'll go far, since you're reputation isn't the greatest around here. I also haven't done anything, maybe something along of lines of make ten threads a day about the same thing, to earn me renown like you have. I guess I'm not trying hard enough.

I don't really get the point of this thread. Anyone with half a brain can grasp the concept of supply and demand. Of course they're going down, everyone

who's mining for profit have stopped buying the cards at their current prices.

A lot of people aren't in it entirely for money so I wouldn't be all that surprised if the prices stay where they are for a while longer.
I don't really get the point of this thread either.  Pretty pointless, just like many other threads created by this particular member.   Roll Eyes

Grow up, please.

To be fair, he isn't making a new thread every five minutes screaming about the end of the world.
6  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do you rate your experience with Bitcoin on a scale of 1 to 10 ...and why on: July 10, 2011, 12:15:14 PM
Idk how I feel about it anymore.

My main problem, and I bet others are having it too, is that ALL of my transactions are ending up in the low priority queue and take hours to even show up as 0/unconfirmed, even though all my transactions are charging me fees (that didn't happen a month ago at all) and most of them are transferring over 1.0BTC. I look at the current queue of all transactions at http://bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin/ and see many normal priority with no transaction fee's, or some lower than the one I paid.

How is bitcoin going to be able to compete with credit cards, when credit cards are able to let me charge small amounts without making me wait for hours?

So at this time, probably 3/10, since using a credit card is still the easier and quicker option.

You didn't tell that each survey gives less than .01 BTC. The ones on there are like $0.50 worth of rewards for surveys that you might not qualify for.
where does it say that??

This is a rather surprising reply. Where does it say that? Have you even registered there? On the survey page, every available survey you can take is less than 0.01 BTC, in fact, they're less than 0.005 BTC.

Or did you just make an account, not look at anything, and try to referral spam like every fucking BTC related thing these days and think you can make tons of money that way?

Anyone think of the policy effect this would have on World of Warcraft?

In the Terms of Service for WoW, it states selling/buying Gold (currency used in the game, for those who are not familiar) is not allowed. Basically, trading their virtual currency for government-backed money is not allowed.

What effect would accepting a virtual currency, bitcoin, to buy game time and other services have? It'd be such a double standard. They ban people for trading Gold, but on the other hand, accept Bitcoin to pay for services. It's not like WoW players are a small and quite community either, you'd never hear the end of it.

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a paradox? on: July 09, 2011, 06:47:02 PM
Given we're already off-topic. Just because of the curiosity: why did you referred to me as "Ampk"?. Instead of "amp" or "ampkZ"?.

My user name is base64-encoded pseudorandom-generated data, BTW Smiley.

Because moving the mouse to copy& paste, or somehow navigating a rich text box with arrow keys was not something I wanted to do; nor was tying out a full base64 encoded pseudoramdom-generated name. I pretty much typed out ampk, looked at the rest of the name, and said fuck it. Happy now, ampkZ?!?  Tongue
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a paradox? on: July 09, 2011, 03:54:49 PM
Where's the paradox?.

I was thinking the same thing. There's really nothing contradictory there.

Kinda funny how long the thread is, and Ampk is the first one to point out the original post has nothing to do with paradoxes.
12  Other / Off-topic / Re: Regarding passwords on: July 09, 2011, 03:29:20 PM
KeePass is pretty nice for long random pass that you don't have to remember. It just needs one offline password to open your key database files, which are encrypted.
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never reach $20 again on: July 09, 2011, 03:22:39 PM
It is remarkable how often the word troll is used around here.  Truly amazing.  And, we have a poll where something like 1/3 of the people here expect Bitcoin to grow 7-fold to over 100 by the end of the year, and they are seen as the reasonable ones.

Welcome to the hivemind.

Usually why I don't bother with speculation threads unless I'm bored.

I got too, so it is going out to all the MtGox leaked emails.
15  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: "TripleMining is a scam..." DiabloD3, can you please prove it? on: July 08, 2011, 07:08:03 PM
Saying that someone is stupid to believe that they can actually make up to 3 times more from triplemining is by far the worst arguments on this thread. Why the fuck even call yourself triplemining then? Why not just call yourself mini-pools or something not so damn misleading?

You pretty much are saying "You can't make 3 times as much, that's just the ceiling/You'd be dumb to believe that you can reach that/It's UP TO 3 times..." Then saying that you're not a scam, although the domain name implies that you're going to get triple something and make more than any other pool.

It's like if I went to get internet service from superfuckingfastinternet.com and found out their dial up. How is that not a scam? They're misleading people to believe that they're service is super fast, yet it's the slowest around.

Also, you should feel something is amiss since the triplemining people are the most fan-boyish people on this forum. If someone called BTCmine/deepbit/BTCguild/slush a scam, it'd probably end in a few post because no one needs to defend those pools since they don't need to acquire a mass of peons to mine rewards for them. You guys are acting like a gay person walked into your mega church.
16  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: "TripleMining is a scam..." DiabloD3, can you please prove it? on: July 08, 2011, 03:45:29 PM
Maybe the scam part is about triplemining misleading people into thinking they'll be able to make three times more than at other pools. For someone running an average MH/s mining rig, this would mean that:

Σ(Referred Members's Income * 0.01) = Miners's Income * 0.99 * 3

For a Miner's income of 0.050:

Σ(Referred Member's Income * 0.01) = .050  * 0.99 * 3 = 0.1485
Σ(Referred Member's Income) * Σ(0.01) = 0.1485
Σ(Referred Member's Income) * 0.01 = 0.1485
Σ(Referred Member's Income) = 14.85

14.85/50 = .297 -> 30% of the reward is taken by that single pool, so a maximum of three people can get triple rewards off off 0.50 income in that round.

Read the wikipedia entry again.  It has the word 'may' in it.  Just because it's capable of different things doesn't mean it is used for those things.

I really don't want to bring this down to the personal insult level, but seriously, RESEARCH before posting nonsense. You're more stubborn than talking to a brick wall. There's nothing bad about being wrong about something, buts it's bad when you continue to try to spread misinformation even though many are weighing in.

I doubt you even googled VRAM usage, since I found many results that I looked at before posting that explained what VRAM is used for these days.

P.S. Stop watching the news, they own it.

Great advice. Sadly, news channels, as far as the USA goes, are just political outlets.
