Social skills, to create contact with people who might be interested in SFR and could have skill required to improve the community

If members of the community want to create a team to help this coin survive, i have no problem being part of it.

So if you can't do anything to help this coin why do you bother posting in the thread?

Maybe to get the dev to post something? Since the price is only going down, that would be nice.

I'm doing my share to keep this coin afloat by keeping the nodes running, what you have in your config 90% of that is mine and I'm doing my buy and sell on Bittrex to keep this coin alive.

Cheers.

You're doing more than your fair share kid_brook and I don't think any of us have the right to ask any more from you either. I'm personally very appreciative for all that you've done and hope you don't lose complete faith in SFR.

As some know/could guess i'd probably fall under, the "loyal follower" category, and I'm okay with that. I've already stuck it out this long and honestly not much has changed for me over the past couple months. The logic I convinced myself of, once Rosh started to become a little more distanced and started missing deadlines, still holds.

Everyone who is still here, or has been here for a while, has stayed here for a some reason or another. The entire community was given every reason to lose faith in Rosh and SFR but for some reason a decently-sized group are still hanging on to a little bit of hope that Rosh will return, and as soon as he does, the project can begin right where it left off. Yes, some of these people may be bagholders only looking for the right price to exit, but there are others who saw and believe in the work Rosh was doing. It's why many of us got involved with SFR in the beginning and are still here today.

Something i always loved about SFR was our community. (Side note: I can't think of any dead coins with active communities) but crypto currencies typically gain their strength through decentralization (baring a few exceptions like ripple) and an active, diverse, and large community only aids in this endeavor.

I'm not going anywhere and will continue to post and contribute whenever I have time.

PS: Sku - thanks for posting that updated mining guide, definitely super helpful!! Tip: For those looking to get more involved with SFR, you can try mining some coins!

I never stop mining, in so doing, I might surpass some on top coin holders lists. Smiley

I  pray that somehow Roshan can have a time to post something here. Just to give some hope for those who have faith in this coin. It won't take him 3 minutes to do so.

I need to look into getting my own mining gear because SFR, among some others, are some coins i would love to throw a bit of hash for a while. Renting doesn't work too well for this but it's probably about time i get a scrypt rig or something Wink

I'm right there with you, it'd be really easy for Rosh for post a quick update and it would definitely do a lot to further instill some confidence. I have no idea why he hasn't/can't post updates as frequently (or at all really) as he previously did. I'm optimistically waiting along side you, but Rosh if you're reading this, a lot of us would really appreciate any update even one sentence long  Grin

Also is there still a working rich list? I know SKU posted an block explorer link but i haven't seen any rich list link in a bit. I'm definitely creeping up there too and even though i can't mine, i'm still trying to do my part:

PS. Bring on da dumps cause i ain't takin them down

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Goat [IGoat][HerdNodes][DPoS] on: July 20, 2015, 02:02:43 PM

We are almost at 100k blocks. Goat network is stronger than ever and there is 8 herdnodes up and running.
What new exchange would like to see add Goat?

I think seeing cryptsy add Goat would be nice. Especially too, considering Goat's low historic exchange volume, if we get added to cryptsy we won't have to worry about getting delisted because of low volume, because they rarely do that.

Just my two cents Smiley But obviously besides that, Bittrex, Poloneix, or Shapeshift would be nice.

Is there any working x11 pool ?

Not that I know of. I believe this was the last updated list of working pools:

Edit: Updated 26 May 2015

I decided to compile a list of pools still in operation for the 5 algorithms, and on the correct blockchain, as the OP is a mess of dead links, and bad pools.

SFR Algo Healthcheck
Groestl, Sha and Blake are regularly generating blocks and in good health as they have active regular miners.
Scrypt had generated barely any blocks since the 26 April 2015, due to high difficulty and not enough miners. Effort was made as of 20 May 2015 to start mining Scrypt again, and several blocks were found bringing the difficulty back down. Now the profit switcher at Hamsterpool occasionally mines SFR when the difficulty goes too low, which is creating a volatile difficulty level. Below about difficulty level 6, about 20-30 miners on the profit switching pool start mining on Scrypt, and push the difficulty up way high, before all leaving again. Generally though Scrypt is looking better now, as at least we are finding blocks on an irregular schedule, rather than none at all.
x11 has no working pools that I can find, and therefore apparently no miners, and the difficulty is probably too high to solo mine. We need a new X11 pool so we can start mining again and bring the difficulty down to a more appropriate level. No new X11 blocks are being generated at present.

The great strength of multi-algo coins, is that that despite 2 algorithms being in poor health, 3 have been in continuous good health, meaning the coin still functions perfectly. Multi-algo coins have always been under appreciated, and Saffroncoin is probably the best one out there, despite the lack of progress from the dev in recent months and a low price, it is still fundamentally a solid, well developed coin.

Working Pools

X11
No known pools!
Please try solomining or create a pool!

SCRYPT
Semi-active pool: https://hamsterpool.com/index.php?page=statistics&action=pool&coin=sfr_scrypt
This is a profit switching pool, and therefore doesn't always have miners. You can still use it as a dedicated SFR pool by pointing to port 3052. Solo miners also compete with this pool.

GROESTL
Inactive pool: https://www.miners-pool.eu/#!/pools/saffroncoin-groestl
No one uses the Groestl pool very often, but it is working if you want to give it a go. The difficulty is low, and the algo is being supported by solo miners even when the pool is dead.

SHA-256D
Active pool: http://ispace.co.uk/coindetails/?coin=sfr
Active pool: https://hamsterpool.com/index.php?page=statistics&action=pool&coin=sfr_sha256
Two competing pools, both finding blocks. Also competing with solo miners.

BLAKE256
Active pool: https://www.miners-pool.eu/#!/pools/saffroncoin
This pool finds all the Blake blocks at the moment.

Mining Rewards
The current block reward is 21 SFR. Each algo is targeted to generate a block every 450 seconds. Each algo therefore can produce 4032 coins per day, for 20160 total new coins a day across all 5 algos. The actual amount of new coins a day is less than this, as not all algos, particularly X11, are being mined. The true number of new coins a day is between 12-16k a day, depending on Scrypt blocks found.

When POP on Cryptsy ?

I'm not sure how often Crypsty selects voted coins either. Looks like POP is about 7000 votes above the next two coins on the list. So hopefully crypsty adds POP soon Grin

Big Vern if youre listening, id appreciate if you'd add POP to crypsty please, it's been number 1 on the voting list for a while and its much deserved. Thanks

Thats Basically What We need to Do now that POP has been #1 for about half a month now, and we are up by 8,000 votes now,

We just need to make some noise and hopefully they will here us and add us!

From what I have noticed the POP users are not necessarily the most vocal, they are more looking at it as a long term investment, not necessarily a pump/hype and dump,..

Sooo,

We still need to make some noise and let Cryptsy know it is time to add POP!

delisting on bittrex

I believe SFR is on the "verified developers" list for Bittrex and if i recall i thought someone mentioned, if a coin is on this list, they are exempt from delisting but I'm not exactly sure. I've personally already moved the SFR i keep on exchange from Bittrex to Crypsty, as Cryptsy has a SFR/BTC pairing and is not threatening to delist, but that's just my personal preference Smiley

 removed on Jbittrex Grin

Still works for me friend Grin

Edit: Just tested with a buy on bittrex so def not removed.

Hello,
The Saffroncoin Team is back together and we have some exciting news. Last year, we spoke of building an exchange to benefit SFR traders.

We had thought of the name cryptoxindia but we are now going with cryptexworld.com.

We can't disclose much at this point but i can assure you that this is going to be one of its kind exchange. We are designing it by taking account the flaws in other exchanges. We are dead focused on security. The security we are implementing are best industry practices. We are integrating the latest bitcoin technological security advancements which most exchanges fail to imply. This is the only exchange that would give you complete control over your crypto, so you can sleep well knowing your funds are safe!
Henceforth, we boast CryptexWorld to be the most secure altcoin exchange and wallet service in the world. You would know exactly why, once we reveal more.

A special thanks to the community for believing in us. We have some huge things in the pipeline.

Do keep following this thread for more updates.

Regards,
Roshan

Sounds good (I guess), what is in it for the SFR holders ?

So back some months ago when the idea of Cryptoxindia (or CryptexWorld) was first introduced we only began brainstorming ideas on how to directly benefit SFR holders. This was around the same time where we began talking about SFR Elite as well, both of which could be easily linked and mutually beneficial. At that time, nothing was decided or written in stone, but ideas such as 0% fees for SFR holders, percentage of stake or fees from the exchange for SFR holders, etc. I'm not sure if Roshan has continued to think down this line or if he has some other idea(s) in mind but thats just where the community discussion left off.

I'm sure Rosh has a very thought out plan of his own, but i don't see how it could hurt for the community to continue toss around ideas so feel free to share if you have any Smiley

New Logos:

Main logo, will be used on website, exchanges, wallets etc.

Alternative logo to be used for sign printing etc where detailing of the car would be expensive/time consuming etc

App Button

24,000PKB has been transfered to crush from my wallet, the original bounty address will stay in cold storage with the premine.

I will start arranging the upgrade of the wallet, logos on the various websites and revise the ANN post over the next few days.

Should also get a couple more stars from Coinssource as POW has ended and PKB has been on an exchange for 45days.

Awesome, all solid choices!

Congrats crush!!

Sweet!! I love the logo choices, I think they look great!! Great job Crush you definitely deserve it Smiley

So I understand the premine is to be used as an incentive for partnerships with parking companies and I'm cool with that, but are there any plans to target incentives geared towards the end user?

I'm not sure if you're familiar with the navigation app Waze, but they've always had this social aspect of their app for their end users that gives them achievements for specific things  like miles driven in a day, incidents reported, etc. So users can use Waze for the intended use case of turn-by-turn navigation with crowd-sourced data, while at the same time also complete against their friends and other Waze users for a higher ranking.

I was just thinking it might be useful to think about implementing something like this for PKB. Even if it's not a fully developed feature when presenting to parking companies, I'm sure just presenting the idea in a white paper would be of interest to them. Maybe even implementing messaging in the app, so PKB users can send messages to each other on the blockchain might be interesting.

Just spit balling some ideas Smiley

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Blockchain Usecase: Accountability & Transparency for Elected Officials on: June 01, 2015, 01:20:13 AM
Greetings all!

I'm not sure if this is the right/best place to post this but I would love to get others' opinions. I was having a discussion with someone regarding applying blockchain technologies towards growing efforts to promote accountability and transparency among our elected officials, of which my original post is the paragraph below. I provided a follow-up response after their initial question (which is bolded and italicized). Everything I wrote is simply an idea based on my own opinions and assumptions, but I believe that some people in the US would be interested in a such a project. Hopefully it's not too lengthy, but feel free to give it a read, ask any questions, and let me know what you think Smiley

-----
Original Post:
I believe one of the bigger issues with California elected officials, as well as other federal and state elected officials, has to do with their accountability and transparency. It is a common feeling amongst young adults, which is the demographic i fall into, that the government is something that we have no say in or influence towards policies passed. It'd be hard pressed to provide an example to show otherwise. Our version of democracy, primarily designed by John Madison and others in the "Federalist Papers" describe a representational government, in which the American People elect officials who will represent their best interests in Washington. It is assumed with this process that a certain level of transparency and accountability must by evident between the elected official and their constituents. However, many of these elected officials fall prey to the current environment, and while many may have good intentions to follow through on what they promised to provide/support, overtime they primarily either become victim to larger party plays or pressure from financial donors. My idea is simple in nature, as the technology already exists, however the application and acceptance is what remains the biggest challenge. My idea is to develop a decentralized ledger, based on existing blockchain technologies that will increase transparency and accountability between elected officials and their constituents. It would essentially be a ledger tracking the positions, policies, and legislative voting history of each candidate and current elected official. This will allow the American electorate to become more educated and able to make better decisions on who they elect. The ledger will be bipartisan in nature and allow for unbiased information to reach the American public. An informed electorate is an essential part of representational democracy. It will also provide a platform where elected officials will be held responsible for the promises made to their constituents.

-----
As you stated, the biggest problem is application and acceptance. Who's acceptance are you seeking? You will have a difficult time with the Representatives. Do you have any ideas?

-----
I'd be more than happy clarifying what I believe the biggest obstacles for my idea to succeed. I agree that seeking acceptance by these elected officials would be next to impossible, without at least some pressure from the general public. If elected officials were willing to adopt a solution similar to the one I discussed, then we wouldn't be in the situation we are in now.

I rather meant acceptance or usage by the American public. All decentralized applications rely heavily on the strength of the network of which it is comprised, because without support from a central institution or organization, a strong network is essential in order to be less susceptible from attacks or from being manipulated.

Simply from a technological standpoint, in order for this ledger to exist and serve it's original purpose, the network would need to consist of an extensive community of miners to verify entries on the ledger, as well as the commitment from individuals who pledge to connect their computers as nodes for the network. However, this is more of a Bitcoin issue than one specific to my idea.

Building the ledger on top of the bitcoin blockchain would make the ledger susceptible to all the risk and issues currently faced by bitcoin. While the alternative of creating a new separate alternative blockchain, separate from the bitcoin blockchain, would allow us to fix upon some of the issues currently existing within bitcoin's protocol as wells edit specifications of the code to tailor our needs. But the issues of network strength and security, are much more prevalent in alternative blockchains, as most of these new networks lack the miners needed to keep the network stable.

There are technologies, specifically referring to BlockStream's "Side Chains" concept, that are currently in development and will actually allow the best of both worlds. It would allow us to take advantage of strength of bitcoin's network, while still creating a separate network and blockchain, tied to bitcoin's network that would allow us to still edit the bitcoin codebase to better fit our needs. Further information on BlockStream's "Side Chains" can be found here http://www.blockstream.com/sidechains.pdf.

In addition to technological acceptance, there needs to be a certain level of usage by the American public for the idea to succeed. Just as network strength is important from a technological standpoint, the strength of the information and dissemination (or sharing) network is equally as important. Even if the technology is sound, if the information being captured on the ledger is not being widely accessed or shared by a large portion of the American people, the idea as a whole would fail. Centralized ledgers, or any centralized information hub, have the benefit of being able to disseminate the information in a “top-down” fashion, essentially pushing which/whatever information they deem important to the public. Social media would be an example of a technological centralized ledger or information hub with a decentralized dissemination method. A social media platform could have great technology, but if no one is using it, then the information being shared on the network is pointless. Both my idea and social media platforms require a similar sort of acceptance by the American people. Meaning while information always has some degree of value, under examples in which the dissemination of the information is decentralized, it is more important than ever for the information to be accessed by a large enough population as possible. Even though the decentralized ledger would always be accessible to the public and contain the same information, if people are not accessing the information, then the information becomes useless.

In sum the acceptance of, or the larger the network of people accessing, using, and inevitably sharing the information to others provides the ledger with the only opportunity to truly live up to its intentions.
