1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How we can start crypto currency trading on: April 20, 2018, 06:30:44 PM
Many of the concepts that are well known, and used in traditional markets are applied here. So I guess you should start by a good trading website, like https://stockcharts.com/
There you will find a section called ChartSchool, that is quite useful for beginners.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: March 27, 2018, 09:11:14 AM
Can byteball offer free transaction fee for a year or two? To increase adoption. Or maybe offer it indefinitely. It works for Iota and Nano.
I know fees are very low but as a marketing campaing it is powerful to say, it is fee free.
Why not!
I don't think it's possible, and the reason is spam.
To be quite honest, I don't understand how Iota and Nano will manage to avoid that kind of practice, but if it is a plausible solution, I see no reason why we could not discuss it here.
3  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: finish college or keep playing bitcoin? on: March 27, 2018, 08:18:25 AM
Ok, you could start by explaining what do you mean by "playing Bitcoin".
If you're not yet involved in some serious job or project related to Bitcoin, you should just finish your college, because in the worst of the scenarios, you could still find a job out there.

If you are in fact involved in a serious project, then ask yourself if you really need to quit college to have success on it. What is your chance to succeed? Have already a Plan B? All of these are questions that should be answered.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: my portfolio, your thought please on: March 27, 2018, 07:47:09 AM

Do you like it?

NEO             29.32%
IOTA            11.38%
NANO           17.51%
ICON            5.82%
VECHAIN       6.19%
OmiseGo        7.24%
ARK              5.42%
OysterPearl    3.49%
Req               1.40%
Deep Onion     1.24%
NAV               4.69%
iExec              1.78%
COSS              0.57%
Groestl            3.33%
MyWish           0.29%

No. From what I see, most of them are ICOs or highly centralized cryptocurrencies. Not meant to discourage you, but to me it makes no sense to hold all these cryptos, and no Bitcoin.

Anyway, that's just my opinion, so don't take it as trading advice.
.  Most of them are third generation coins. Bitcoin is not decentralized as u think. Lightning Network looks like a network of several centralized hubs . Big expectations and poor results are going to crash the whole btc ecosystem.
Not sure where you got that information, but Lightning Network actually increases decentralization in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Even if you think it is centralized, you are not forced to use it, because it's a second layer solution.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you had to put all of your money into only 1 crypto, which would it be? on: March 27, 2018, 07:36:45 AM
I would choose Bitcoin. It is the most decentralized, it has the best developers working on it, and it's adoption is growing day after day... There are even some countries where people are being able to buy goods and services using only Bitcoin. I guess there is not yet an altcoin that gives you that kind of benefit.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction fee just 1 cent for 10,000 dollars on: March 27, 2018, 07:25:08 AM
Now the transaction fee has become such lower that we are now able to send even 10,000 dollars for just 1 cent as transaction fee.

Now the transaction volume has gone down to just 135k transactions per day.

Is this change in transaction fee due to segwit activation or due to decrease in crypto hype which is noticed nowadays?

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/87819l/bitcoin_transction_fee_10000_for_1_cent_cheaper/
I think so, since there was a huge increase in the number of SegWit transactions in the last few months.

And note that such results are without Lightning Network.

I guess that, once ready, LN will give a hard time for altcoins out there that have low fees as their main selling point.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is better than Cash. on: March 27, 2018, 07:12:46 AM
Nice list, but I could make it even simpler.
With Bitcoin there are three things that can't be made with fiat, and probably not with anything else... and that is: censorship resistant transactions, permissionless value transfer and borderless value transfer.

9  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin in 2018 will be at $50,000 on: March 27, 2018, 06:36:45 AM
It is clearly going in another direction right now, but I think it is short term trend. Lightning Network can make Bitcoin much more usable and scalable, and that brings the potential of a lot merchants adopting Bitcoin as a transactional currency.
We have plenty of reasons to be bullish Bitcoin in the long term.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you choose to hold Bitcoin or Ethereum? on: March 27, 2018, 06:29:31 AM
ETH will have infinite supply, and Bitcoin has a fixed cap of 21 million coins. If you know what the word inflation means, you can understand that Bitcoin is a better store of value.

We could also mention the scalability problems that exist when you try to build heavy applications on top of a blockchain, but at this point there is plenty of material out there explaining that part.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What are the best coins to buy right now? on: March 26, 2018, 11:59:27 PM
What are some of the best coins to buy right now?
When investing in cryptos, I refuse to buy coins that try to repeat what Bitcoin already does.

For me, a good cryptocurrency must bring features that wasn't already in the market and that in fact solve real world problems.

Coins that compete with Bitcoin for electricity have much lower chances to succeed. But if it is something really new, like a DAG cryptocurrency, chances are much higher. That said, Byteball is the one that I consider to be the best at the moment, because it fits in all these criteria, and I really like the way they're trying to distribute it to as many users as possible.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's stopping people from using crypto currency? on: March 26, 2018, 11:45:38 PM
There are people who don't want to deal with it because it is something they don't understand. There are also people afraid of regulatory problems.

None of these are good reasons for people to be afraid of Bitcoin, since understanding its use is quite simple, and in most countries in the world Bitcoin is not illegal.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What altcoin will make us rich? on: March 26, 2018, 11:37:50 PM
I want to invest about 500$
any suggestions what will go very high?

Thanks
Getting rich with only 500 bucks is really difficult these days. There are good cryptos in the market that could make you a lot of profit, however, they're not so cheap as they were 1 or 2 years ago. You would need at least a few thousands dollars to see significant return on your investment.

However, there is also the possibility that new cryptos, with innovative technology and useful features, are still to be created. So you need to constantly update yourself regarding what is being developed in this space.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: February 19, 2018, 08:02:08 PM
I bet there are people who cry that tonych holds a big percentage of the total supply, meanwhile they are invested in ripple. Even coins that are not "held" by the devs, are premined or instamined (like dash) and nobody seems to give a fuck. The double standard is very high in crypto. I have never been disappointed in tonych, he never under delivered, he didn't promise you airdrops, he promised to announce whether or not the airdrop will happen in march. I was in support of stopping the airdrop before the summer as it did not increase the user base at all. Burning the rest of the coins is a bad idea, locking them for development/marketing/bounties is the way to go. Look at dash, pivx, decred and a million other projects that directly take a percentage of every new block (and have huge instamines that happened years ago), if people agree with that, then I have no clue why people cry here? I wish byteball was never freely distributed, as much as I hate ICOs, I wish it made one, would never have the "problems" it has now.
If Byteball was an ICO it probably would have a better chance to succeed,if it was an ICO it would have already finished the distribution one year ago iota had an ICO and it doesn’t have the distribution problem now Railblocks (Nano) had free distribution and they have finished the distribution byteball doesn’t seem to want to move on either do a damn ico or finish the free distribution just do it and move on to the next step obviously he can’t do an ico now because that will crash the price and that won’t be fair for people who bought byteball so the only option left is to finish the free distribution ASAP and with new distribution methods it will take forever.

It's trying to follow Metcalfe's law, so ICO would not be a good idea.

From the OP:
There will be no ICO, no crowdsale.  I believe the success of a currency depends on the number of people who own it, in fact Peter R’s research suggests that historical marketcap of Bitcoin follows Metcalfe's law: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=572106.0, i.e. it is proportional to the square of the number of active users.  That’s why I want Bytes to be in the hands of as many people as possible

Thanks. These are useful links, although it is too early and I think not so many people are using the MP system.

Otherwise, I would like to suggest the creation of a page dedicated to this.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 12, 2018, 12:39:37 PM
Byteball's price is flying!!!!!

Byteball fair value is ~ USD 5,000 per GBYTE
I guess it depends on what you consider to be a reasonable fee. And that can be a good thing, as speculated by some user:

Regarding the discussion about the Coin Supply. The current supply is 1,000,000 GBYTE which is not high in my point of view.

You can not multiple the current supply with billion and say we have 1,000,000,000,000,000 Bytes as supply. As this is not usable due to the fees per transfer (583 Bytes per usual transfer)

Recently i have tested the wallet and made some micro (1 byte) and small (1,250,000 = 1$) transactions.
I have paid 588 Bytes fee per transfer which equals to 0,0004664 $   (800$ per GByte / 1,000,000,000 x 583 fee)

If we assume that highest reasonable fee is 0,01 Cent. Then Gbyte should maximally rise with factor 21. The maximum price for 1 GByte would be then 16800$ per GByte
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: In your opinion, whats wrong with the current Crypto-Community? on: January 11, 2018, 06:52:02 PM
In my opinion, the problem is the lack of legit and good services.

In its path to become a global currency, Bitcoin is giving to people opportunities to create real businesses, and I see very few taking advantage of it.
19  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: can gambling give you lessons in life? on: January 10, 2018, 02:05:06 PM
Everything can give you lessons in life, but it doesn't mean that you need to expose yourself to insane risks to learn. Listen to what people with experience have to say about it, or learn by seeing what happens to people who gamble.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people are holding Bitcoin? on: December 22, 2017, 09:36:59 PM
Maybe the fact that despite the high volatility, it is still a much safer form of money than fiat. If you can't see right now, try seeing it through a long term perspective. Inflation has always made fiat currency lose a lot of value in the past, and the same will continue to happen for a long time.
