101  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: If you belong in the "Ivory Tower" how do you communicate with everyone else? on: April 05, 2018, 07:39:03 AM
Please note: My specific question has 'unique details' which are vital to a helpful answer, thanks.
In school I was accused/moderately abused (picked on) for being a "genius", but not like Satoshi, for example. My 'world class skills' are/were highly abstract creative thinking (i.e. advanced geometry), combining ideas, creating solutions which no one else sees.

First a "challenge" then a question:
Challenge (quiz / test / experiment)  Do YOU know, can you see it?
Not promotional, since anyone in the Ivory Tower should know the ETH Bubble Game has serious issues: I see an extremely obvious, simple way to turn the ETH Bubble Game into a better money machine which helps the working class, and slowly drains "their thing" while building something clearly better. To me the opportunity too help others while improving the Crypto stench is clear as day.

The challenge: What exactly am I saying, what is the "one simple project/change" which makes a huge difference?
Question: How do I learn to communicate with "normal people" when things are so obvious to me, but almost no one else understands?  // I once had a soul-mate who completely understood my unique sense of humor, but RIP that sadly ended unexpectedly over ten years ago.

Thanks for any answer to either question.  Smiley

Well, to be honest, it is confusing trying to figure out what you are wanting in your post. It isn't that people aren't smart enough to understand it, it is that you aren't communicating clearly/efficiently.

When things are obvious to you, but not to others you should try and view things from their perspective. This may be hard to do sometimes since you may not be aware of what they are capable of and not capable of, but it is a skill that takes practice to get better. If you are explaining something that others are unknowledgable about, drop jargon entirely. Also leaving out some details can keep people from losing interest or getting confused.

For example, if I am explaining a poker hand to a fellow poker player I may say something like this:

I was playing a $200 HU SNG online. 1,500 chip stacks each with 75 BB stacks to start. I minraised to 40 with J5s in the SB. My opponent, who was an aggressive reg, 3-bet to 120. Normally I'd fold here, but I decided -fuck it- and 4-bet to 285. My opponent tanked and finally called. Flop came Q73 rainbow. He checks, I bet 200. My opponent quickly called. Turn was another 3, pairing the board and giving me a flush draw. He checks, and I quickly bet 700 and my opponent calls. River is an ace, but it doesn't complete the flush. My opponent checks and I push all-in, 630 more to win 2,370. I figured he'd probably call, but I only need to win 1/4 of the time in order for it to work. Fortunately my opponent tank folds and flips over Q9o.

I may explain that same hand to a non-poker player like this:

The other day I was playing a $200 online poker game versus a single opponent. I made a bet and he raised me. I re-raised him and he called. This is a pretty uncommon spot to be in and normally you would want to have a premium hand in my spot like two aces or two kings. I had a garbage hand though; I was bluffing. I bet all three streets and was all-in by the river. My opponent only had a small amount to call at the end in proportion to what was in the pot, but he believed my bluff enough to the point that he folded a queen.

To someone who is very confused easily or doesn't like poker I might break it down even more:

Last night I played a poker game and ran a huge bluff. It was exhilerating.

Try and guage your audience's facial ticks and body language to try and see if they are understanding or not. If they seem bewildered start making it more and more general until they start to understand on at least some level. For certain things they won't be able to see them the same way you do so there will be limits on their understanding. You like advanced geometry which won't be of much interest to a lot of people and that is a pretty hard thing to explain. There are some people that have interest in those sort of things. They just will be harder to find. Take me for instance, I recently have learned about regular polytopes and now have a rough understanding of how they are constructed in higher dimensional space. If you were to explain advanced geometry to me you'd probably want to do something along the lines of what I did in my second explanation for my poker bluff. If you went with an explanation like in the first explanation I'd be completely lost.

Also, be as inviting to questions as possible. Try not to get frustrated or make sarcastic remarks, people will be much more willing and comfortable to understand things when they are experiencing positive interactions. I hope this has helped.
102  Other / Off-topic / The 7 deadly sins... which one are you? on: April 05, 2018, 06:24:15 AM
There are 7 deadly sins:

  • Gluttony
  • Envy
  • Lust
  • Greed
  • Pride
  • Wrath
  • Sloth

Which one suits your character from the most to least? Post below.

For me I'd choose this order:

1) Greed
2) Sloth
3) Pride
4) Lust
5) Wrath
6) Envy
7) Gluttony

I'm pretty fucking greedy lol. I mean, I am in bitcoin after all. I'm skinny as fuck though so Gluttony is at the bottom.
103  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: A case for Bitcoin Champions on: April 03, 2018, 07:30:26 AM
It is hard to find reliable sources. The best way I have found to judge whether something is reliable, is to see how emotionally charged the source is. The more emotionally charged the source is, the more likely it is to have/be misinformation. The more famous someone is the less likely I am to trust them. If someone is selling something, they could be trustworthy, but still might not be. The best people to trust are the ones that talk about boring stuff that is directed at an audience that has a better understanding of what they are talking about. This is not to be confused with people that use jargon just to make themselves look smart, but people that aren't trying to get attention for fame or money.

No matter what, we have to sort things out for ourselves. It would be nice to see/hear something and know for certain that it doesn't have some hidden agenda behind it, but that is the way things are. Even in olden times I think it was this way, but today more people are aware of it.

Having a Bitcoin Champions isn't going to be a solution, because there is no way to determine if that source will ever be infiltrated with unknowledgeable/confused people. Find a couple of knowledgeable, down-to-earth people and listen to what they say. Always stay vigilant/skeptical, because even honest people can get things wrong even if they are an expert in their field.

I have learned a lot about Bitcoin/crypto currency just from this forum alone. I was able to sort through the bullshit. Well, hopefully. Who knows, I may be unaware of the misinformation I have been fed.
104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why it is so important to HODL in crypto!? on: April 03, 2018, 06:30:04 AM
When you sell you don't have to sell everything. A lot of people will say "I sold my bitcoin" or "I'm back in" Why not leave some coins for hodling and other coins for trading/doing what you want with. I know when Bitcoin went up to 19k that it was way too fast and my networth was too high for me to be comfortable with it all being in Bitcoin. I ended up selling 10-15%ish at 18kish and I have no regrets about it.
105  Other / Meta / Re: Don't beg to have merit on: April 02, 2018, 06:31:48 AM
You know why, because it is obvious to me that he really wanted it pretty badly.

You know why? Because it is...

Didn't get past the first line.

If anyone feels like giving me merit as well

I don't.

I gave you a merit too. You want to know why? Because underneath that post was level 2 begging for merit. You were begging and you know it. Don't deny it. You know you were. It is okay. You sound bitter in your post, like someone hasn't treated you right.

I gave you a merit because I'm thinking of those story book characters that are mean to people, but then a nice authoritative character gives them some random act of kindness and it changes them. I hope this happens to you while you receive my merit. (Gives virtual hug to o_e_l_e_o throught the monitor)
106  Other / Meta / Don't give me merit on: April 02, 2018, 06:06:21 AM
Guys, i'm making this post because I believe in something greater than myself. I believe in an ideological method of how this forum should operate. Please don't be alarmed, offended, or disgusted. I will announce it right now:

...Don't give me merit...

I don't want merit, because of what it does to us. Take a look into your heart and ask yourself who you really are. Can you live with yourself? Is this what you really want? A bunch of people come to this forum everyday. Long ago we all loved bitcoin and shared everything about it. Our knowledge, our questions, our ideas, our desires, our fears. It was a living breathing forum. Love filled the corridors of the blessed links. It was a truly beautiful place. The legendary folk knew they were important. The newbies understood how worthless they were. However, they also understood that one day they would become legendary as well. The forums were flooded with more and more important content. No spam, no hate, no fud, no making random posts to get money for sig-campaigns, none of that.

One day a snake was unleashed. Its fury bestowed itself amongst the bitcoin forum world. This snake was named merit. The merit infected the pure forum. Suddenly spam was present. People began begging for merit. Others were scolding those begging for merit while covertly begging for merit themselves. Those that were scolding were also scolded by others for their undercover merit-begging. Well guess what, those folk were begging for merit too. It was just 2 levels deep. On and on it went. People went further than 2 levels deep. I've seen some people more than 10 levels deep. More people came into the forums. More spammers and scammers. More beggars and broken-English posters.

So who will stand and fight. Who will fight for what they believe in. I will, who else is with me? I know the battle doesn't give us good odds, but it is important to be what you are. Be yourself and don't give up. Love, learn, and yada yada yada. I'm trying to think of more good cliché things that everyone respects, but we already know what that stuff is. It just isn't always so easy to put down in words. The English vocabulary isn't big enough for me to express my heart and my journey. Let us venture into a new era of quality content once again.

So...

...Don't give me anymore merit...

I'd like to take a moment and answer a couple of my fan's questions:

Quote
Yo TheGodson, why are you not accepting merit right now? You could be killing it with merit. You could already be a legendary by now if you wanted to. This is just so puzzling to me, because almost anyone in your position would be taking the selfish route to gather more merit. It is so weird to actually run into a person that cares so much more about things than just himself. Where do you get your inspiration from?

-Tom

That is a good question Tom. To be honest, I don't have all the answers. I wish I could tell you how I was able to develop such genrosity. The only advice I can give, is to search deep within your heart and find it. It is something on another level that even I cannot explain.

Quote
Wow you're so humble TheGodson!

The first thing I noticed about you is that you are so humble. I really admire that trait in a person. You are one of the most humble people I know. The fact that you are against recieving merit is so revolutionary that I don't know what to think. It brings tears to my eyes. Tears of joy. Such humility is overwhelming! How can I become humble like you?

-Sarah

Wow Sarah, thanks for the complement. It really feels good being as humble as I am. Very few people have probably reached my level of humility, but I don't blame them at all. Everyone is learning at different speeds and we should all be loving and giving. I truly have been blessed and I am not all that great. I really am not. I'm just like any normal person. I don't desire to be worshipped either. I am not a god. I am a mere mortal that is humble and recognize that merit is not a good thing to beg for. Guess what Sarah, you already have become humble by asking the question. You can't become a great leader of humility, like me, until you learn how to follow. A good leader doesn't give out orders. He/she guides his people.

Quote
Hey TheGodson, I was treated poorly all my life. Also, I know you don't want merit, but I'm going to give you some anyway okay. As a child my parents severed all my limbs. I would have died had it not been for social services and intense medical care. It has been a rough life, but it has also been an honor getting to know you. Even if not in person, I at least get to see your greatness through your quality content that you post. Can you accept merit from me please? I know you don't want it, but I really want to give you some anyway.

-Frank

Frank, I can't imagine the hardship that you have suffered. No child should ever have to go through that. That being said, I can't accept your merit. I have made it my quest to not accept merit.

Let me explain to all you readers out there. This is how you give merit:

Now that you know how to send merit please do not give me any merit. I really trully deeply do not want to receive any more than I already have. I don't want you all to worship me like how you have for the legendaries.

The only reason I showed you how to give merit is so that you would understand that you could and that it would be easy. I don't want you to mistake my post as a beg for merit, because it isn't. I think if you search within yourself you will find the deeper meaning behind the meaning. I like to post quality content just for the content itself and my many fans. I have altruistic motives and that will never change. Please be understanding in the fact that I absolutely do not, under any circumstances, want any merit. This post is already getting long enough as it is with all my amazing content.

I really hope you all appreciate what I've made here and also remember to not give me merit no matter how badly you want to give it to me. I know you want to give merit to me, but please resist the urge.

Thank you and peace
-TheGodson
107  Other / Meta / Re: Don't beg to have merit on: April 02, 2018, 05:11:07 AM
Guys, I gave him a merit. You know why, because it is obvious to me that he really wanted it pretty badly.

My 1 little piece of merit will have hopefully added joy to his life. If anyone feels like giving me merit as well so I can feel the same way, I won't object to it, but I won't beg either.

Guys, I am not begging for merit right now, but I am posting good content right now. Try and find a grammatical error if you can. Hah! That's right, you can't! My English is perfect right now. I just wrote a couple of sentences and it was good content. You don't have to give me merit either if you don't want to. You can though.
108  Other / Meta / Re: Activity, Merit, Politeness, fMerit, Imagination, Virtue, Coins, Karma, Posts !! on: April 02, 2018, 04:47:23 AM
I'm not gonna lie, I actually was thinking this would be pretty cool even though it is a bit ridiculous. It is now past April first and is still there. The stuff is probably calculated using a random generator multiplied with our activity level or something. I definitely was fooled by it. To be fair though, it was April 2nd when I first saw it.

I think we should get rid of merit. Nobody uses it and it hasn't made the forum any different than the old way of leveling up. Just my opinion though.
109  Economy / Speculation / Re: Falling is not a bad thing. on: April 02, 2018, 04:29:34 AM
Every time Bitcoin goes below 7k I get a yuck feeling in my stomach. I don't think the fall is a good thing, because I've lost a lot of value. I had just pilled up on Poly coin. Was thinking, meh, this may or may not be real, but the hype alone will bring up the price. I thought I was an early adopter, but this happened around the time of the crypto collapse. So yeah, I lost quite a bit of money and I don't see this as a good thing.

Overall a correction to 15k-10k area doesn't really phase me. Seeing 6k worries me though. I would not mind if Bitcoin went up slow and steady these next couple of years. Just so long as it doesn't drop to practically nothing. I'll admit it, Bitcoin gains have spoiled me quite a bit. Bitcoin would move up 5% in a day and I'd be thinking "that's all". Crazy how this market can affect people.
110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: faith on: March 13, 2018, 11:26:51 AM
I don't like using the word faith when telling others to believe in Bitcoin. I'm more of a probability guy. Faith implies blindly believing something. I think people should do their own research and come to their own conclusions. So far Bitcoin has done very well for us. Hopefully in the following years it will continue to do so.

I guess in a way we are using faith because we don't know what is going to happen, but I like to think that there is reasoning behind it all.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] POLYMATH: The Securities Token Platform on: March 02, 2018, 05:10:18 AM
I spent all day today finding common questions from the Polymath telegram page and then writing out answers. If anyone is new and looking into Polymath, then I’ve put all the questions and answers together on my site here: https://www.tokenanswers.com/c/polymath, I really hope it helps a lot of people out. It took me awhile to research into things like the token distribution and what exactly Polymath was trying to do.

What’s really cool about the site is you can select any question, and then copy the exact link to the questions page. If anyone asks a common question like "Has Polymath partnered with anyone", you can now quickly go to TokenAnswers.com, find the question, copy the unique url link, and send that to whoever asked the common question. One note: I’m still working on getting the exact roadmap the team is following and will add it the moment I get it from them.

Anyways, if you find any errors then let me know by sending an email to errors@tokenanswers.com or by messaging me on Bitcointalk, also, if you have any further questions you think I should add then let me know and I’ll add them right away. Thanks!

You're website is pretty cool. I've noticed that when I select "Where to buy Polymath (POLY) token?" as one of the questions, the "show more tab" actually makes it shrink a bit.

It is too bad that Polymath is one of the few coins that are down right now. It is at $1.01. Ugh, that hurts. Wonder why that is.
112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $70000 Lost, Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple on: February 28, 2018, 06:45:19 AM
I don't think it will affect the market. Well, at least not in a big way. People have been known to lose bitcoins for some time. It really is worrisome since Steve Wozniak is a brilliant guy. Someone as tech savvy as him to lose coins might ward off some new comers, but I don't see this hitting big news. People in the past have lost even more.
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is steemit a good way to make money? on: February 28, 2018, 06:33:54 AM
Is steemit a good platform to make money or is it a waste of time? My hunch says the later is probably true, but maybe if I put the work in it might turn out to be profitable. Anyone have experience working with steemit? I just sent an application today.
114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: growing the Bitcointalk.org community on: February 18, 2018, 08:43:09 PM
I've been here for a long time and this merit system is new to me. Care to explain what you know about it and how?
115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do if Bitcoin Price Crashes on: February 18, 2018, 08:36:35 PM
What would you do if Saturday Morning you wake up  and Bitcoin Price Drops to 0.89 cents?
Also I would love too hear opinions on what would it take for something like that to happen.
I imagine President Trump would have to outlaw bitcoin or something of that magnitude at this
point right  Huh Huh Huh Huh
or even better What would you do if Bitcoin Skyrockets too 2,5 million USD per Bitcoin  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked
HOLY CHIP!!! I would Buy my own Island and make myself The king and have hundreds of children with my hundreds of wives
because I would immediately divorce This one definitely trade her in  for someone who doesn't talk so much blah blah blah .....
and is always moving my damm shoes Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry
IF I PUT MY SHOES SOMEWHERE I WANT TO FIND THEM THERE IF I WANTED THEM IN THE CLOSET I WOULD PUT THEM THERE

If Bitcoin went to 0.89 cents I'd be devastated. I probably would buy like $500 to $1000 worth more just in case it goes back up. Maybe not though. If Bitcoin went to 0.89 cents I think that would be a pretty good sign that Bitcoin has failed in its mission.

If Bitcoin went to 2.5 million. I would probably buy a house, put some in other markets so that I can generate cash doing nothing. I'd probably quit my job and explore more interesting aspects of life. I think if Bitcoin went to 2.5 million USD that would be either a really good sign for bitcoin or the possibility of economic collapse. If it was the latter I'd consider leaving the country.

That's very sad that you would divorce your wife for making you take care of your shoes. She's helping you be responsible.
116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Message to all people who panic when crypto price goes down! on: February 06, 2018, 07:59:33 AM
A lot of people bought crypto without knowing exactly what it was. I convinced my brother to get Bitcoin. He did, but he has no idea what it is. I think a lot of people are doing just that. They've bought in without knowing what they are buying and now those same people are exiting. Honestly, it is pretty depressing. I'm still up from when I got in, but it just hurts really bad seeing all this money drop.

This is also the first time that Bitcoin has gone mainstream. This truly may be the beginning of the end for bitcoin and cryptocurrency as we know it. I'm hoping not though. I still have some more buy orders for lower with the money where I sold when Bitcoin was at 18k. I only sold 11% though. Every day feels like it is getting worse and worse.

I have a tab at the top of my computer right now. $5,930... $5,922... $5907... $5902... $5900... $5887... $5877.01 It just keeps dropping lower and lower.
117  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC to Crash further till 1000$? on: February 06, 2018, 07:48:08 AM
Down to $1170. That is where it will go before it goes back up. That represents a 94% drop from 19.5k.
118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Suicide due to losses due to investment in virtual currency on: February 05, 2018, 01:27:44 PM
So which is it? He won 200 million or 200 thousand? Wait no, he lost that much? What you wrote doesn't make any sense. I assume you've made some typos and meant to say he lost a shit ton of money.

That is sad. He was only 20 years old which is a pretty young age to kill yourself. I've seen some other people post suicidal thoughts in the forum. Some of the mods even removed a couple of them for some reason. I don't understand why people want to sensor such things. Even though things are uncomfortable or unpleasant it is important for people to understand the truth about what is going on. Also, if people are announcing suicidal thoughts it is a call for help. Even though it can be a bit annoying, it is still worth it to keep it and possibly save someone's life.

It is too bad this kind of thing happens. Imagine how many of those suicide victims didn't leave their private keys around for their loved ones to have. There are probably a whole bunch more bitcoins out there floating never to be seen again.
119  Economy / Speculation / Re: CAN ANYONE PLEASE SHED SOME LIGHT? WHAT'S WRONG WITH BTC? on: February 05, 2018, 01:17:32 PM
What is wrong with BTC? Well quite a bit at the moment.

Governments are cracking down on it. Scaling is a nightmare. Transactions take way too long. Fees are ridiculously high. It has also become centralized.

Bitcoin has become everything bad that it has tried to fix. The chances for it to succeed are very slim, but the risk reward is worth it. So I still think it is wise to aquire Bitcoin.

I should also mention that if the market movers manipulate it to inflate it to a much higher price you can sell some of your coins at that time and buy more when it drops lower. Always keep some off the table so you can ensure profit in case things go south.

I invest in Bitcoin and love the vision, but let's be honest right now. Bitcoin is struggling like crazy. Its main value is that people believe it to be decentralized when actually it isn't. Bitcoin is centralized.

Bitcoin is at risk to a better coin/money philosophy. It is also at risk because of government intervention. People say the government can't control it, which is true to an extent, but they can make it difficult to use simply, essentially ruining its overall usage to most everyday people that aren't computer geniuses.
120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happened to bitcoin will it going to die on: February 05, 2018, 01:01:07 PM
Most likely yes, it will most likely fail. However, there is a small chance it will succeed. If it does we will all reap huge rewards.
