101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So many scam giveaways is it because Bitcoin is moving up on: July 28, 2020, 10:40:44 AM
Do people notice that these scam giveaways are just happening this year after the halving and many social media hacks are happening
are all these planned because people are tempted to give in and fall in this scam giveaways because of the big bonus
Bitcoin is now moving up and so many social media of popular people are hacked, is this coincidence or planned.

Though there were some surge in giveaways this year, but this has been happening before too probably not with the level of scam with which we have now.  The truth is that, people are looking for money and a way of living and they are trying all possible means to get this.  You can participate in giveaways if you have spare time but DON'T put any of your money or asset there whether for claiming or something related because greater percent of them are not real.
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Gas fees too high on: July 27, 2020, 08:39:22 AM
This post is just to complain, i remember in the past - a year ago - a 10 Gwei Gas price would have your transaction confirmed in few minutes. Now it takes days... Average Gas is now 30-40 Gwei.
We recently paid 5$ on a contract with 10 Gwei Gas price, it has taken almost a week and the transaction still not confirmed, meaning can be rejected !
At least in bitcoin it's all transactions, and it does not pretend to be a chain for deploying or interacting with contracts!

If you have been doing transactions on ethereum Blockchain recently, you would have discovered that it's been some weeks now that the transactions fees has been skyrocketing.  Transactions that I used to do with $0.1 before has now turned to around $0.7. This could be due to the increase in the price of ETH among other reasons other members have highlighted.
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DeFi Anticipated To Reach $5 Billion In Total Value on: July 27, 2020, 08:08:50 AM
Are there really so much hype around Defi that it could really reach $5 Billion? Was really shock to read this article as the market really anticipated a huge boom with this Defi offerings around. And as coinmarketcap is already jumping as it it is already displaying it in their platform.

Quote
The crypto sector has seen a fair share of speculations over the past decade, but the recent decentralized finance (DeFi) boom has opened up new opportunities for crypto enthusiasts – to bet on DeFi’s development.

The Gnosis-based prediction market, Polymarket, created a betting opportunity for crypto enthusiasts to guess what will be the total value locked in DeFi before January 1, 2021. The betting started at $4.12 billion last week, but quickly jumped to as high as $5,16 billion, as of press time.

The predictions can be seen as PolyMarket being bullish on the future of DeFi.

Decentralized Finance usually operates by “locking in” a certain amount of crypto assets, primarily Ethereum but sometimes Bitcoin is locked too. In return, DeFi tokens and/or a promised interest are granted to holders. Interestingly, users are more and more interested in the DeFi sector, as its “locked-in” value rises exponentially.

Indeed, the total value locked in DeFi projects gained $1 billion dollars in just two weeks – DeFi struck the $2 billion mark on July 7, 2020, but as of press time the locked in value tokens increased to over $3 billion. However, this is not the first kind of bullish momentum for the sector, as three weeks prior to hitting the $2 billion mark the DeFi sector managed to make it into the billions.

Crypto experts are considering that a significant part of DeFi’s recent explosion is Compound’s governance token release on June 15, 2020. In just 24 hours Compound’s COMP token managed to surpass Maker and take the lead in the DeFi realm.

However, the experts are taking a rather cautious approach towards the betting, as there are little over $1,500 in bets, so a few large-scale bets could alter the prices and make them swing.

Furthermore, DeFi Pulse noted that the total value locked (TVL) has exploded several times before, but quickly rebounded. For example, the TVL went up from $692 million to $1.26 billion from January 1, 2020 to February 14, 2020. A month later, the TVL rate bounced back and went down to $600 million.

Meanwhile, the debate around DeFi token valuations divided crypto investors, as innovative protocols like Aave and Synthetix are with higher demands, compared to MakerDAO.

Investors are either undervaluing or overvaluing the DeFi sector. Some investors think that it’s a perfect time to jump aboard the DeFi social media hype, as the sector became the fifth-most searched crypto-related term on social media, as well as marking an all-time high in social media activities track.

https://thecapital.io/article/defi-anticipated-to-reach--billion-in-total-value-MCqdHmWPbfBSD0UY6YR

Recently there was a surge in the volume of DeFi projects and they are making it very big.  Early this week I checked the DeFi sections on the CMC and it was amazing how these projects are making waves. May be I will just give it a trial and invest in one more with the Oikos I've already invested.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The most difficult use cases to trust in crypto space today on: July 24, 2020, 03:26:23 PM
Here are two most difficult use cases to trust in crypto space today

1. Real Estate crypto projects

Scammers are the main reason why these use cases are hard to trust because it's easier for anyone to use this usecase to fool investors by stealing fake estates, houses and building pictures to deceive people

2. Gold backed crypto projects

This is even more popular today than real estate projects, honestly if this use case are real imagine how many regulations this will need to proof to the world that an actual crypto project is backed by gold form a real gold company

The truth is this use cases requires good proof to investors before they can actually belief that the projects are real, many have lost money to fake real estate projects and fake tokens claimed to be backed by real gold

Well, that might be so difficult to invest in actually.  Firstly I know of a real estate property that I was part a couple of year named Max Global Property (MPG) and still doing well today.  In the other hand, I hardly found any gold backed projects thriving today, many are all shits and fakes.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CRYPTO GIVEAWAYS REQUESTING YOU TO SEND FUNDS TO RECEIVE ARE SCAMS on: July 24, 2020, 03:14:36 PM
Few weeks ago, the crypto community received a major hit of scam perpetrated by evil people through the Hacking and hijacking access to major world notable individuals' tweeter accounts. These accounts were used to announce crypto giveaways requesting people to send a sum to receive multiple folds of whatever they send. It all ended up to be scams.

Currently, a similar post of ETH giveaway is going round on the Facebook page of crypto.com and it is obvious that it is another scam being perpetrated by the scammers.

I just want to implore guys to note that nobody who conduct a legit giveaway will first request you to send them fund first.

Except for those just coming in to the crypto space, I want to believe it is crystal clear to almost every existing ones that giveaways or airdrops requesting processing fund from you are 99.99% scam. Don't fall for it, scammers are just full out there to rake in even as little as $0.1 from individual, if you now multiply this with let's say 10,000 individual, definitely something will enter their wallet.  Likewise, let's also be careful of self drops.  Those are the avenues by which many people become victims of these scammers.  Thread with cautions!!!
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Governments cannot control Bitcoin on: July 23, 2020, 02:33:49 PM
The governments can't control Bitcoin because it is decentralized. It wasn't made in favour of a centralized system where one person or authority can have full power and control over its transaction. The farthest the governments can go is to impose regulations on Bitcoin transactions especially on the exchange sites.

Well it us true that different government's power has limit in controlling Bitcoin. But let's come to think of it that government has the ability to make policies that will affect digital currencies in one way or the other.  In fact regulations of governments have been fingered in the low adoption of cryptos in many countries.  For example, the anti graft agencies in my country recently were arresting anyone with crypto related stuffs on their phones or PCs. They said, they categorized them under internet fraudsters.  We need more favourable policies that will support the mass adoption of Bitcoin and altcoins.
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty or Airdrop kill project? on: July 23, 2020, 02:21:39 PM
I dont know what you think guys but i think airdrop and bounty kill the project let say after the project finish the ico all the bounty and airdrop hnter sell their coin/token , this make te price go low.Since all of bounty and airdrp hunter did not care about the project.

That's not true buddy.  Bounty campaigns are ways of promoting the new or existing crypto projects.  Many might not have heard of a particular project let alone investing without bounty campaigns.  Likewise airdrops is another way of promotion.  The caution is just that, bounty and airdrop pools should not be too much compared to the total supply, especially airdrop to avoid immediate dumping after listing.  It will be difficult to totally remove bounties from crypto projects, because that's the lifeline of promotion.  There are other ways projects teams can employ to checkmate things that kill their projects.
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Never invest in any cryptocurrencies! on: July 22, 2020, 02:01:49 PM
I think most people approach crypto in the wrong way. With "get rich quick" approach.

If you come to crypto with such an attitude, you should never ever invest.

On the other hand, if you actually had to earn it while doing whatever you are usually doing anyway, that involves money?

Examples:
You get crypto as a token of gratitude after making donation to some project. (crowdfunding)
or
You are paid crypto as a bonus to your salary.
or
... (any other examples come to your mind?)

Wouldn't the whole cryptoworld be way more healthy? What do you think about it?

The fact us that, I have always advice people that approach me and say they want to venture into crypto. I ask them about their motives, that if it is about making it quick then they should forget about it unless they have millions of dollars they want to risk for daily investment.  There have been many losses resulted from impatience.  Crypto space is neither an abracadabra nor magic place.
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin dominance falling, time to bag in some alts? altcoin party? on: July 22, 2020, 01:54:21 PM
There was an upward channel pattern which was being followed by the BTC dominance since past 2 years and it recently broke down below 65% and is currently down under EMA 100. Seeing the charts very carefully, I believe that some alts are definitely going to rally super hard and BTC dominance will fall down more in order to let the party continue.

Yeah I also took keen note of the reduction in the usual dominance of the Bitcoin.  Some altcoins are actually doing very well and they are also gathering up potential to compete with Bitcoin.  The fact is that, it's not about BTC alone, there are many altcoins worthy of investing in too.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I hope this helps new crypto investors, do not hesitate to read on: July 21, 2020, 01:46:22 PM
Many members must have spread this countless time on this forum before, we need to keep doing this because of the new users joining this forum almost everyday, There are some do and don't that newbies need to avoid if they want to buy coins, this are few warnings from me

1. Beware of low marketcap coins, they are more profitable but less reliable, they can die real fast

2. Forget website designs and max supply, focus more on real use case (utility) than anything else

3. Make sure teams are really who they claim they are and make sure they have two or more knowledge about crypto

4. I prefer well know coins or project, it doesn't have to be old altcoins, for example Wazirx token, Tezos, Comp, Cartesi, these coins are popular and new but still popular

5. Stay away from projects that are listed on rubbish exchanges, these exchanges are token killers with wash trades and fake volumes, e.g p2pb2b, exmarket, latoken, vindax.

6. For trading lessons or try outs be more friendly with top exchanges, they have better interface, highest volumes and highest liquidity

7. You want to make profits and you don't want to wait too long? I suggest IEO, make sure you follow top exchanges social media groups to stay updated about new IEO, especially binance and kucoin, it's always profitable

8. The best time to buy bags of coins and tokens is when bear attack the market, do not buy coins and tokens when price is surging or pumping.

9. Check projects github, make sure it's active and well updated from time to time, you can easily spot bad projects through their github, some don't even have GitHub

10. Crypto investment is risky, always invest what you can afford to lose, we are all humans and we can never tell what will happen between a project team in future, anything can happen.

I hope this helps

Yeah, nice one from you.  And I can see some improvement upon the one posted before.  Newbies investors need to be warmed expressly even on a daily basis to invest/trade with extreme caution.  Just an addition. If you have an experienced and trustworthy person in crypto space, you can also move closer to them for some guidance.  It really helped me a lot.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CoronaCoin More drama, third exit scam and discord deleted on: July 21, 2020, 01:23:35 PM
https://www.publish0x.com/boyka/corona-coin-another-exit-scam-yes-it-is-the-third-time-xklnxp?a=l9avrPVaG1&tid=scam3

It is the third time 1 developer exit scams, they are making a new coin for a third time, i also think the developers have another project called Proof of Nature. Be carefull.

It's no more news that the project was a big scam.  There were lots of warnings on this platform to everyone that wanted to invest in it then.  Several projects developed then with respect to the pandemic including some people asking for donations were all pure scam.  This is just the beginning, it's possible some of them are still planning the same. Just be wise!
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Day Trading or Long-term Hodl? on: July 20, 2020, 10:05:57 AM
Before now, I have always been getting it wrong about cryptocurrency. A friend recently opened my eyes to see how I could have increase little coins I have to fortune overtime by day-trading. But I am no that type. I had always thought I could only make fortune in crypto by hodling a certain coin for long.

13 months ago, I bought SNTR worth about $100 hoping that in few months I'll wallow in milliions of dollars like Ian Balina , but the reverse is often the case in the subsequent ones I bought. Sad fact, $100 worth of SNTR 13 months ago now less than $2.

Recently, I watched several videos of how to analyse a coin or token to invest in, gained some good knowledge of the basics. I discovered day-trading tokens like DX token and AWC could have actually make me what I hope to be If i had the right information. But its never too late. Yet, I am drowned in mentality that hodling for long can only be the fortune I hope for. Reason I need help.

Both day trading and long term hodl are good based on individual purpose and plan.  In my own opinion, I do recommend day trading to those that are experienced in crypto trading and those that are have enough money for trading.  Because buying small quantity of a particular token/coin is not profitable for day trading.  In the other hand, long term hodl is good for those that do not have enough money for trading provided the prospect of the project to be held has been ascertained to be good.
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum fees are becoming like Bitcoin fees on: July 20, 2020, 09:35:01 AM
Lately ETH fees have been skyrocketing and I have been paying 50 cents for a normal eth transaction and over $1 for contract functions. Used to be a few pennies at most to get your transaction confirmed quickly.

Honestly, transaction fees on ethereum block chain have become somehow unbearable nowadays.  Transaction that I used to do with just $0.01 before can hardly go even with $0.3.  And it is not that the ETH price is on increase like that in order to justify for it. Hope it will be rectified promptly.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Three phases bounty distribution on: July 17, 2020, 07:09:23 AM
It's a good thing that few bounty managers are now limiting participants for bounties but another problem I'm bounty projects are dumps, one way that bounty managers can help to avoid dump is three phase distribution, many would probably hate this but c'mon we all want good $$$ from projects we promoted right? Controlling dump this way works, what do you think? I've seen bubbalex doing this and even COVIR that plan to use bitforex to raise funds plan to distribute tokens in three phases

Yeah... I do support this plan of distribution at least to mitigate the effect of hasty dumps, especially in the part of the hunters that cannot even hold for a day.  Projects that have applied this in the past actually recorded some outstanding success.  However, my concern is that, there shouldn't be too much unbearable space between each phase of distribution. At most I suggest 1-2 months in between phases, this is just to avoid losing trust in such project .
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sometimes late bounties can still pay rewards on: July 16, 2020, 08:27:30 AM
the project you promote 2years back can still come up and give you awesome reward, delays takes place sometimes that makes project team keep postponing listing on exchanges,  imagine promoting a project in 2018 paid you big reward in 2020 after you've already zero your mind that it's over? I want bounty hunters in the house to verify this, true or false??

Anyways, do not underestimate projects you promote a year or two years ago, they can still pay up and secondly do not leave or exit their telegram channel no matter how many years it's been, if you do you might be denied of your rewards

You're right, there were many projects far back as 2017/2018 that I have even lost all hopes on it.  Many of them I have tagged them as decorative tokens/coins.  All of a sudden some of them just got listed at good price even beyond my expectations.  I've really learnt you don't just lose hope completely on any project especially the one still undergoing development.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ethereum (ETH) Price on Course to $300 on: July 16, 2020, 07:16:23 AM
An article on cointelegraph  hurts that eth will rise to $300, how do you think?

Quote
Essentially, Ether is currently acting above the 100-day and 200-day moving averages, which is a bullish indicator. Alongside with that strong signal, the volume has been increasing as of late.

Often, volume precedes price, and combining this fact with the sideways range ETH has been in, an increase in volume shows accumulation.

Similarly, the price has been in an uptrend since March 12, as the cryptocurrency is continually flipping the previous resistance into support. The former support/resistance flip was done with the $217–$222 area.

Such an S/R flip implies further upward strength, with $250 as the next target. The price of Ether is staying fairly close to this resistance zone.

If ETH breaks $250, then the $290 level may not hold like last time, as that’s not a significant resistance zone. More likely, ETH/USD may see a quick rise to $330 or even $360.

Quote

This is highly anticipated even before halving.  With the look of things in the market, it's very much possible that ETH crossed $300 line before the end of the year.  Highly optimistic about this.
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Future of Crytopcurrency on: July 15, 2020, 09:04:06 AM
We can see that crypto is currently developing and many countries in the world are already using crypto as a means of payment, of course with advances in technological development all countries must accept crypto as the main payment maybe 9-19 years from now we can see crypto ATMs where -where.

Not must accept but maybe crypto will be one of the major payment methods in the next 10 years. Fiat will still be dominant as not all people are tech savvy or interested in new technology. But of course, crypto has future as more and more companies are integrating blockchain technology within their operations.

The future of cryptocurrency is as bright as the noon sun.  Crypto adoption has really moved from where it used to be back in 2009.  We now have more adoption now, which will definitely be on increase.  Even some governments that are against it before are now in support.  It's real time usage is on increase.  To me, I see a very reliable future in cryptocurrency.
118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Texas man charged with using coronavirus relief funds to invest in crypto on: July 15, 2020, 07:22:50 AM
This is kinda funny though, may be the man wanted to make quick investment hoping for a quick returns so that he can return the fund ASAP.  Notwithstanding, that's not good enough, this is a space where all the fund can be lost withing few minutes/hours. What will now be the lots of people that have been ravaged by the pandemic.  All in the name of investment, we shouldn't do things at the detriment of others.
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vindax Scam on: July 15, 2020, 07:07:09 AM
I don't see this Vindax exchange as a good one since the time I have been transacting on crypto exchanges. It's a pure scam exchange so also any project planning of holding IEO or listing on them.  They have different bull shit story to tell when you become a victim.  I've once been told that I can't recover my fund because hackers stole coins worth $22m on their exchange.  If you want to avoid story that touches the heart, then stay away completely from this exchange.
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Newbies are safer with top altcoins on: July 14, 2020, 01:50:06 PM
Seek for more crypto knowledge before investing in new projects, it's not always that easy to choose, as a newbie it's better to stick with old top altcoins on coinmarketcap, why? Because many newbie are in rush to make fast returns, if you are this type pls go for better top coins, 90% of new coins aren't serious at all, they are here to steal money from investors and give fake promises in return

Newbies are safer with top altcoins until they start learning how to choose wisely, do better diggings on new project to avoid scams

Cov-19 have been used to scam many newbies and even Corona virus coins are built too which have no real use cases

Play safe and be willing to learn

It's a good advice though. As a newbie in crypto investment, it's a good advice to look for projects that are already established in the market, for example those in the top 10 on coin market capitalization.  Without some experience and ability to do some research, it's very risky investing in the new projects as a newbie to avoid huge loss.
