Good lord! are they contortionists now or something?!   Heh, its just what I normally do myself when I've chewed through my distal phalanges. As said: as soon as I collect enough from the slack I'll post another TL:DR. There was a working windows binary posted in Slack so that seems to be out of the way. I think there are 3 ways in which you can currently launch a crypto project. 1: clone someone elses stuff from Github and pretend you're a dev. 2: raise a boatload of money through an ICO and hire blockchain developers who currently come at the same hourly rate as premier league football players, or just hire marketeers and skip the code part. 3: Code a foundation upon which the community and everyone interested can build on through hard work and collective effort. For as far as I can see the Helium team and the community members who are lending hands are pursuing the 3rd option. This means that there will be a perfectly viable future for Helium but it also means that launch dates and deadlines don't really do much at the moment. Having said that, I personally think this is closer to actually launching than it has ever been. |

3. In regards to the dual Helium entities, we have been aware of each other for some time. They are a hardware focused IoT manufacturer founded in 2013 and are out of the United States.
wow... well thats news to me. So who owns the Helium brand? Or there's now 2 entities? Thats gonna get confusing,especially since they are both blockchain related and tokens/coins are issued. From what I gathered about the IoT manufacturer that, rather recently, wants to incorporate blockchain into their IoT products: they're not really fishing in the same pond. I think consensus within the team and community is to just leave this be for the moment and deal with it when and if the time comes. There are more important things to deal with at the moment. I'll see if I can post another TL:DR later this week. For now rest assured that code is being coded and doings are being done. PIVX latest update is rather significant however and since Helium will launch with up to spec, clean, pretty and working code this means a fair bit of extra work for those amongst us who are currently head butting their keyboards and biting their toenails trying to get everything sorted. |

Thanks for the update Jason, I really dig it that you keep us informed here. If I understand things correctly, the SPR that were on Bittrex will be re-used as Treasury coins to finance development? And additionally, 250K HLM will be created to cover expenses like exchange listings? If this is true, there will be massive push-back from those who had their coins on 'trex and maybe those that fear dilution. I understand that without financing, the coin is dead in the water, but then I didn't have any SPR on 'trex.... I still hope HLM can carve out a niche of its own, but if the org/company is no longer striving to become a payment provider, it's truly going to be tough to find a distinct profile from PIVX and DASH - telling big and conservative companies HLM is going to help them in supply chain but not as a payment system will be tough. Fingers crossed and keep up the good work! The 250k that will be added on top is purely a precautionary measure in the highly unlikely event of a legit claim to the coins removed from the airdrop. The way the multi-sig treasury wallet is to be set up, with two keys held by the community and one by the leadership team, ensures that the community has decisive power over what is to happen to that 250k in the future. If fear of dilution turns out to be the main sentiment: the community can decide the coins to be burned. |

No exact date, but they have been targeting around 2-3 more weeks to get the chain up and stable. They've got some more dedicated devs to get this launched. It's a bummer that it has been delayed, but karma, graham and richy have kept plugging away at it. No one really knows if coins is involved anymore. I believe that may have been a major part of the delay, but I don't know for sure. He may be working behind the scenes on getting companies on board with the service nodes. If he'd chime in it would be nice. Regardless, karma is moving the boat along and it will launch. No date - year of delay SCAM NO date doesn't means scam, its just delayed for long period time  but, i still believe with this project, anyway, personally i didn't like with the delay i hope, the dev team will give an informations about the date as soon as possible a project that took so long, and I am still prejudiced positive with helium and following its development I do not blame those who say fraud because teams are more active on twitter and until now they still have not confirmed the date and time information after long delays the team also active on Slack and always give an updates on helium official website too there is no reason to doubt with this project, i hope as soon as possible i can see this coin alive and tradeable on exchange heliumlabs is not 'the official website' its just the website where the community keeps the faq and posts important stuff that was mentioned in Slack  I think the team will soon launch a new website as they are getting ready to launch the chain. Forking off the bittrex address was a good move those pricks have turned into scam artists anyway. The questions I have for team are: how many helium does forking trex address off network remove from circulation? Is it safe yet to say our coins on topia will be actively able to trade, stake, MN within 2 months? I figure within 2 months has to be a safe estimate if you include that investors have been waiting quite a sum of time at this point. This will be in the next tl:dr but team have identified 629k coins that were sitting in Bittrex wallets during the snapshot. Richyjames, who is currently coordinating development, mentioned on Slack earlier today that they're on schedule to have everything ready by the end of the month. Hold your horses: if team (Deo volente) manages to kickstart the chain in the last weeks of April this doesn't mean that trading etc. will go live at the same time. They'll want to make sure everything is stable and working as supposed to first. Well I'm definitely glad to see that team members are giving updates, but they need to be making sure they're coming to Bitcointalk so the majority of the project's followers can see... Need a(nother) community manager? I plan to deliver many great updates to our community here. When they are ready that is  I think at this point most of our followers are spectating the various Slack channels. Even if the majority of your followers are in slack, you should still update your thread for the few people who still don`t want to use slack for privacy purposes. I just gave you an update. There is also nothing against making a spoof email address for your slack account. |

There has been quite a lot of activity on HLM Slack recently. From what I've understood the community mailinglist is having some issues so an update may or may not have been sent out. This is a TL:DR from all what was said in the last couple of days: March 10th: gj (gjhiggins) wrote I'm lending Karmashark a hand with setting up the premine and the script to execute the ledger balance transfer transactions. Currently getting up to speed, nothing to contribute immediately, give me a couple of days.

So the fork was months ago and still nothing in the wallet ? What is going on with this ?
Make sure to read the FAQ on the (unofficial) heliumlabs.org website. The community also cross posts Team announcements there so you don't need to dig in Slack. Link to the mailing list can also be found there. To cut a long story short: it seems priorities and goals shifted a couple of times in the 9 months since the OP was posted. From what I gather personally: the HLM team wants to come out guns blazing with a working product and real-life partnerships and use cases from day 1, rather than launch the chain and start looking for partnerships and application afterwards. This is the best way to go IMO if you want to develop a product that suits the needs of the industry you are targeting. It also means that launch has been pushed back from Q4 2017 to a (preliminary) Q1 2018 and deadlines were missed. This sucks if you want to get rid of your airdropped HLM tokens ASAP but it is good news if you were in this for the long run anyways. |
