101  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Ebit e9 miner with 6.8Th/s from Ebang company a new rival for existing producers on: January 28, 2018, 05:11:58 PM
Had my E9+ 9T up for a week now, I'm not home much, nicehash has my hashrate all over the chart, from 1.0 to 14.9, but it's averaging .001 btc/day, which seems about right, so I wasn't too worried about it. A couple nights ago I walked by and the bad red light was on, the controller, but it cleared while I was looking at it. Today I saw it happen again, it was down for 9 minutes, then restored itself, during that time could not see it from my pc. Inside the box there are green lights on the outside boards, the one in the middle has a tiny blinking red light.
a - I suspect I have a bad board. Do I?
b - Anybody know where I can get a replacement?

Thanks.

PS -  bassdun read my post right before yours if you haven't solved it yet. Do what HaggssFIN said, use the ebite mini tool to get the miner ip, change your computer ip to be in the same range, then log into the miner and enable dhcp, reboot it, and you can revert your pc ip, all will be good. It will give itself something in your router domain. You will be able to see it in the web browser.

Without xnsub each new job/change/coin/pool that the renters are pointed at.. as nicehash shifts your miner around it has to reconnect .. even with xnsub your miner will STILL show varying hashrates because nicehash goes by what work ACTUALLY gets done.. so lets say one minute your miner is pumping out shares like crazy and the next it just can't figure anything out you will see higher than normal hash and then lower. See what I mean?
best bet.. point to a pool that doesn't switch like crazy or has no need of xnsub.
90% Likely NOT a bad board. So there is that.

I didn't understand this right away... then it clicked
Basically, when nh switched you to a new pool, your hashrate shows as zero until you get an accepted share, and that can takes several minutes. Your machine is not down, it's working fine, you just have to wait.

Thank you.

I'm still hashing around 6-7, never 9, but at least when my s9s arrive I won't be freaking out over it.
102  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: January 28, 2018, 05:03:15 PM
A sr member on another thread was talking about mining when it was 1k, and it dropped to two hundred, he was mining at a loss for a bit, but he held on and hit it when the price went way up again. I think that was good advice. Personally, I'm mining and holding everything, if I cash any out it will be for another machine. I'm targeting 2020. What will the btc price be then? What will the coins you mine today be worth then? I bet a lot more than 11k per. Go to work, mine, hold, everything is going to be awesome..... eventually. So far all the new machines are smoke. Even the ebang 18t/Hs haven't actually been seen yet, and that's a real company at least. Until some new ones start getting delivered, out of the smoke and into the real, the s9 remains king.
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer A3 earning $500 a day mining SIAcoin . .WHAT?! Results & Stats on: January 28, 2018, 04:40:13 PM
I can extrapolate the yield drop from my 2 580s rig.
before hard fork at block 139,000  1 sia per hour
right after  .5 sia per hour
now .2 sia per hour

Yield has dropped by 80% since the fork.

I like xmr stack for etn. Difficulty is going up. I also think cell phone mining is a pipe dream, but if cell phone payments ever take off this coin could go way up. They seem to be aggressively marketing in south America, I'm still thinking about my opinion of that, maybe it's a good plan, I don't know.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain to offer $800 discount coupons to those who have preordered from Obelisk on: January 28, 2018, 04:26:02 PM
small miner here, 2x 8gb 580s. I'm getting driven out. My 2 cards went from 1 sia per hour to .5 and now to .2, looks like I'm out. My even numbers make for a pretty clear understanding of the difficulty increase. sia is now officially an ASIC only coin. Devs or no devs. At that value, for .2 per hour, what's the point? Even as my -dcoin it's way better to get decred. And it's unlikely that sia is going to reach the kind of value decred has, at least not for a long time. If the obelisk project is killed bitmain is going to have a monopoly, at least for now. I'm curious though, sure bitmain has money to burn, and obviously they're shooting kill shots at obelisk, but what does it mean? Is it just to burn a competitor because they can? Or is bitmain putting a huge bet on sia coin for the future?

She answered:

Your order hasn’t been cancelled and as soon as we have a unit ready to ship, I will get back in contact with you to collect money 😊. Till then I'd rather the money stays in your wallet.

Whatever. They can't charge that card again. I wonder if they're going to hit me up later for a "urgent" btc only payment or something. If that happens I'll let you know. Other than that I'm done with it.

Oddest scam ever. A 51 year old smoke show female bodybuilder selling fake miners.

It's funny because I've seen more senior members take a flyer on new miners that might not exist, and people said how awesome it was they were checking it out for everybody.
Like the other obvious scam in this subtopic that is only still ticking because some legendaries got duped into believing they are real or are shilling for the product themselves?

I just don't get all the hostility. I get you don't want people getting scammed, you want to warn them, and people did, that's awesome. And I get you don't want anyone shilling for a fraudster, that's cool. But I haven't done that, and I totally acknowledged that it was prolly a scam. I'm not selling anything. I don't even have a big stupid campaign sig.
To be honest I'm still not sure what their game is. Now they've changed payment processing from square to PayPal. It says that the payment goes to oussha@aol.com. That's a name, Oussha Shlaimane, she's a hot milf with a book out on living a healthy lifestyle. Weirder and weirder. They don't even take btc.

Edit - found this from 2014 - http://shockermichaelmooreflsfordivorce.blogspot.com/2014/04/white-collared-mining-technologies-vs.html?m=1

I have not had any contact with kryptmine since the email reply I received and posted earlier in this thread. Today I received the following email:

Hi Rick,

We've gone ahead and issued a full refund back to you because we don't want to hold your money. Once your order is ready to ship I'll get back in contact with you to make payment then. Sorry for inconvenience.

Regards,

Glenn

Now a couple of things struck me about this, the English is not as perfect as the previous email ("make payment then", "Sorry for inconvenience") The syntax indicates probably Chinese, but not 100%. Also, I never asked for a refund. Odd, that. Now the refund address for kryptminer llc was NOT in Long Beach, across the street from Towerjazz semiconductor, one of the few foundrys in the US, instead it was 3195 spectrum st, in Irvine, Ca. Looks like a townhouse or condo. I checked the kryptminer website again, it's still taking orders, and still says shipping in early February.

I replied:

"Glenn, I don't understand, I didn't ask for a refund, I wanted the machine. Early February is next week. Has there been some kind of delay?"

I don't expect to hear back, but you never know. I conclude vaporware. However, I still think it's theoretically possible to use an achronix speedcore eFPGA as a hardware accelerator in a combined chipset ASIC. People are doing it in machine learning projects, just not for btc miners. That debate will apparently remain theoretical for now. On the plus side, I'm relieved that Chinese mining conglomerates are not in fact buying kryptminer powerservers capable of 2,560 T/hs when fully stacked.

My card has already been refunded, meaning he did it at least 24 hours before sending the email. I have never known a refund to that card occurring sooner than 24 hours, it's generally 48-72 hours.

And that's all I got. No penguins or tarantulas were harmed during the making of this thread.

Just checked my rig, was getting one sia per hour, now I'm getting .5, its begun.
Asicpocalypse?!

Lols, nah, difficulty increase I believe is how you say it. Maybe it is I don't know. Block reward is the same, I think. The pool I'm mining has a minimum payout of 500. That's going to be like forever now. I hope they reconsider, given the decrease in yield. It's just my claymore -dcoin but I was going to keep at it until I got 500, now I have to reconsider. No hurry. I'm nooby, so I've never seen a coin get blowed up by asics before. I'm watching this like a hawk because it's interesting as F#%@*k. I'm hoping they pay my 270 out and the price goes to the moon, but only the former seems probable. They better drop payouts or they're going to have 20 dudes w/a3s owning all the sia, and that's not good for anybody.

Just received 2 x E9 T after waiting a month and a lot of pestering. I am in the US.
One seems to run fine the other flashing red light and does not show up, searched with advanced ip scanner and nothing.
Tried  about 50 times to call hotline for service, get the recording and then it drops the call.
Has anyone dealt with their service. Says a whole lot of impressive things. Is any of it real?

Advanced IP scanner won't do anything if the machine is on a different subnet than your desktop.

Download Wireshark, run it, and look for ARP requests coming from the miner to get what IP it is assigned.

Once you have that IP, change your IP to match that network and connect to it.

I have IP of the unit, that part was easy.
What I can't find anywhere is how to change to the right subnet.

IP address of miner is: 192.168.103.175
I've tried configuring my IPv4 manually. Setting IP as 192.168.103.63
And subnet as 255.255.255.128

What am I doing wrong here?

I dunno, worked for me. I think my subnet was all 255s though. You only need to get into the machine long enough to enable dhcp.

I got lucky, bought 2 8 gb 580 saphires before I even knew they were hard to get, amazon, 269ea. On the profit thing, I think it's been said, don't sell your mined coins right away, you'll maka a lot more. If you try to calculate based on coin worth at time of mining you're limited, if you're using nh same thing because payout is always btc. I mined 1k etn at .06, did I earn 60 usd? No, because now they're worth .12 ea, and I'm still holding them. That's 120. Pretty big difference.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What cheap coins can be mined on laptop? on: January 24, 2018, 08:06:21 AM
Try cryptonote, I like electroneum long term, but who knows what will happen. At least you could get some coins. It moves between .06 and .16 last few weeks. .12 right now.

my 2 580s are putting one sia an hour into my wallet, just waiting to see what happens (-dcoin, claymore dual miner). It would be ironic if the claymore secondary coin I chose ends up being the one that the price blows up. I didn't even know about the obelisk project when I picked it.

Artix? That is their "faster than ASIC board"?  Roll Eyes Head to the Xilinx site... Also, a board with a single FPGA? What is that? The controller? Anyway...

I don't think it's possible with that board. However, it might be with the achronix speedcore. I'm still reading.
119  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: KryptMiner - 20th/s @ 800w (a new magical miner / scam?) on: January 24, 2018, 05:05:03 AM
So I think I located the board, I believe it's this opal Kelly xem7310-200. I'd be interested in feedback on the board itself. It's incorporating an xilnis artix-7 fpga.

He's leasing miner centers by appointment now. Seems like a pretty elaborate scam for just cc #s, you can just buy those things by the ton. You're all probably right,  but I'm still going to let it ride.
