101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PRIVATE KEY - Nobody in the universe can break it. on: March 14, 2018, 03:09:10 AM
The verb TO OWN never was fully expressed since blockchain came to existence.
You own the private key, you own the funds, period. There is no force in the world yet (later maybe quantum computer) capable to break it.
That is one the reasons why bitcoin will kill banks. We will simply don't need them anymore.
That's really good to know, it calmed me I really thought that hackers will be able to break my private key. Although there is not that good sum of bitcoin, it is still mine, I worked my brain out of it. Thanks for the information shared.
102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin As a subject in school on: March 13, 2018, 02:34:42 AM
How about if there's a subject added in school
For crypto trading?
It could be but I think it will be more appropriate to student towards junior and senior high school. Graders should focus on foundation and character building. When they arrive in junior and senior high they are old enough to handle consequences (whether good or bad), risks and profit in crytpocurrency.
103  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Before and After Bitcoin came on: March 13, 2018, 12:51:18 AM
How did you know bitcoin? Did it greatly influence your way of life now? Is it a game changer or just something temporary? Feel free to share your thoughts. I read but I don’t judge.
Before bitcoin, I am struggling daily on managing my salary with lots of deductions from the government, loans and other insurances. Here are my answers to your questions:
1. I've known bitcoin from a colleague of mine. Before, I am ignoring bitcoin because it might just be a scam. After he received his first BTC, I was encouraged to join.

2. It has influenced my way of life especially during weekends and when it comes to load and data usage. Since I don't have internet access over the weekends, I now buy load to I can answer topics in this forum and update my posts and shares on the bounty campaigns I joined. I also became alert in some ways and more keen to my posts and shares so I can follow the rules of each bounty campaign. So yeah, it influenced me.

3. I cannot answer it yet since I haven't receive anything from the campaigns yet but I do hope it will be a huge step up in my life. Since nothing is temporary, I will still do BTC as long as I can. Before bitcoin, I am struggling daily on managing my salary with lots of deductions from the government, loans and other insurances.
104  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin as your main income? on: March 12, 2018, 04:46:00 AM
Bitcoin is a currency. Bitcoin is a solution to many problems. Bitcoin is bringing questions and new problems to this world.
Some people find this as a ride to boost your income, not specifically Bitcoin but also the whole crypto market.
I think it's a great thing! But what are you actually looking for? Bitcoin itself (the currency) might not be your solution.
If you want to "conquer" the world, you can't do it with Bitcoin. Like you can't conquer the world with the dollar itself.
You need to focus the technology. The blockchain along with it, bringing a new economy generation with freedom and decentralization.
It's something that should be written a new bible about in my opinion. Before you learn Bitcoin, learn economy. Once you master this skill, own Bitcoin as one of your cards.

I would like to hear some of your opinions and hear some smart words because I believe people think investing Bitcoin will make their life done financially but I honestly think it's not true.
Your  salary is more stable than bitcoin. BTC will help you pay bills but still salary is your primary source of income.

106  Economy / Services / Re: A simple bitcoin Q/A. Learn new and interesting stuff about bitcoin. on: March 09, 2018, 04:13:58 AM
Hi pugman and bill gator! Thanks for this thread. I hope I can read every answer and quote here so I can also learn. While reading this thread, I thought that there are lots (as in lots and lots) of things i don't really know about bitcoin. At first, I only thought of how to acquire activities so I can rank higher ('cause higher ranks mean higher stakes and token for bounties), join as many bounties as possible to have stakes and tokens so I could sell them and have money.

But since the merit system was implemented, I learn to control myself in posting (though it's not shitposting for me) and read articles in google to provide quality posts. I also learned to read threads that are very informative and look into other threads that are interesting. However, obtaining merits became hard for me. I hope I can research and answer well to be worthy of those sMerits of yours! Good luck to me!

107  Other / New forum software / Re: Add a notification feature for posts/reply's on: March 09, 2018, 02:52:02 AM
From what i understood this is the tread where we can make suggestions (if not then please move or delete this post)

Hi all,

I would like to suggest that when people reply to your topic or quote your comment you get a notification so you can see it.
Somewhere between Profile and My Messages there could be an option that says notifications.

When this is pressed it opens a page where you can see all the reply's/comments and if you have had enough of notifications from a specific post you can simply press mute. (which would obviously stop notifications from coming through from that topic).

I would like to hear what you have to say about this.

(English is not my strong point, sorry)
I also think this can be added, hopefully. Honestly, I am used to facebook and instagram on notifications. At first, I expected a "notification" that somehow, somehow replied or quoted my responses, but alas, no notification. So, i needed to search for the thread and my response once again. I got tired doing this so I stopped researching for the threads and for my responses. Anyhow, I hope this will be added in the future.
108  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk user grade lifespan on: March 09, 2018, 02:07:56 AM
Why should they automatically get a higher rank when they haven't even been active? Isn't the date registered enough for that? Not much point in giving something out merely for date registered or all these old hacked newbie accounts with only a few posts would be Legendary (or whatever). That's why the current activity system is a good indicator because if you haven't been actually active here date registered means little.
Agreed. They should actually be ashamed. They have been members for years but haven't acquired higher positions because of their inactivity. Members who are active, give quality posts, given merits even if their accounts are months old should be given higher ranks. It also means that they are not really serious or they are not into this forum.

110  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Stat from theymos data on: March 08, 2018, 06:02:10 AM

But as time goes by, these sMerits have been exhausted, or people gradually slow down in giving sMerits. Let’s take for example the Legendary members who give a total of 3,131 sMerits on Jan 25 down to a total of 233 on March 1 which is 97% decrease. Below is the table of sMerit sent decrease per rank:

It is notable that Hero Member decreases their rate of giving sMerit at almost 98%, while on the other hand Jr. Members only decline by nearly 94%. Maybe because of Jr. Members are not given sMerit to share with others. The results seem disturbing that is why I created this second graph which shows the Moving Average of sMerit since its inception.

Thanks for this analysis. Good thing I went here in Meta and I found this thread. It has been a question for me if the merit system is effective, given justice or members who give merits just give it to those they like.

If there is a gradual decrease in the rate if giving sMerits, I hope the Admins, Staffs, Legendary and Hero Member create a thread to give their justifications with such actions. I know they have their own reasons why they stopped giving sMerits. Were they fed up in giving merits? Were they exhausted? Can't they find quality posts now? Or what? So members like me will be informed about their reasons and expectations for me to have merit/s.
111  Other / Meta / Re: Does merit really helping the forum. on: March 08, 2018, 05:20:42 AM
Merits helps a lot in this forum. but the system cannot garuantee a 100% that all spammers will not post out of topic or un useful post especially the higher ranks (full member up) they didnt care about merits. They post for the sake of their bounty campaigns to get rewards. But this system are doing better nowadays it lessen the shit posters.
I agree. I believe that the merit system somehow helped bitcoiners to provide quality posts in order to gain merit and get into higher ranks. Also, it avoided other members of the forum to flood quotes and responses. Although, there are still bitcoiners who doesn't really think about other members. They just posts and post since it's fine with them because they are in the higher ranks and have lots and lots of merits since, they were full members, hero and legendary before the merit system was implemented.

Merits are also misused. Others give merits to low-quality, not-so-very-understood and grammatically wrong posts. There are also members who waste their merits to those who doesn't deserve to have one. I may not be that worthy to have merits but I hope the admins will see to it that the merit will be given to those who truly deserve it.
112  Economy / Economics / Re: Thank you Bitcoins . on: March 07, 2018, 07:10:39 AM
My country exchange control is the weirdest thing you have ever seen. They are quite comfortable with you importing all sorts of junk from overseas, and paying with your credit card (via PayPal), but receiving money is a problem. Quite the opposite from what one would expect to be rational.

EFT (Interbank Transfer) is probably the best, but there are high transaction costs, so it doesn't work for small amounts - you may have to pay between USD30 to USD50 per transaction, and a fee on this side. There will also be Exchange Control paperwork on this side, you should discuss that with the bank before you go.

But I’m glad that I have bitcoins because I can send bitcoins or received bitcoins in a flash and the transaction fees is very low. You even don’t have to show your identification card like you must do at your bank.

Really, thanks to bitcoin. That is on the advantages when we use bitcoin. No hassles, no transaction fees, no need to write on so many paperworks and no waiting time. I hope everyone gets the best of bitcoin. Good luck to all of us and happy bitcoining!!

An Italian cryptocurrency exchange called BitGrail says it was hacked and some $170 million worth of a currency called Nano is missing.
Hackers are very annoying, really. They challenge themselves so they hack as many as things as they want to know there limits. It is really sad to know that these hackers exist. Instead of helping the economy, they let it fall. I sure hope that bitcoin won't be hacked to save our money. This is one of the disadvantages of cryptocurrency.
115  Economy / Economics / Re: So, you want to be rich? All of you ? on: March 06, 2018, 04:19:09 AM
Just imagine. If ALL OF US would be rich, that means we would live our lives out from dividends, or any passive income of at least $1k a month. Then it would be jawesome, right ? Well, but then I do have a question.
WHO on this Earth would bake the bread for ALL OF US ?
Robots, you might say?
OK, nice idea.
But then, WHO on Earth would maintenance these robots ?
Another robots ?
I don't think so.
Even if so, even if there would be a Skynet of robots, who would not just bake the bread, but also harvest the grains, transport it, deliver to our doors. What then ?
We could eat for free, as much as you want?
Cool, but what about overweight then.
Doctor? But hey wait, NO ONE on this Earth work, so we have no doctors.
OK, we have Doctor Robots.
Who would teach our kids? Robots! Who would change the diapres? Robot!
Even if humans would master all this, we would need to have all the knowledge to teach our robots to work for us. To be slaves for us. (no minds, just pure robotic hands/arms and so on, Tesla's and autopilots)
But even then, there is one huge problem.
I do not want to touch any country, or race, or group of people, but imagine, if you put infinite amount of resources to any kind of animal (including humans), they would reproduce themselves to infinite. Because they simply can. Because parents do not need to parent their kids anymore, because we have robots! So we would need a limit of reproducing, no right to reproduce as much as you can handle (infinite resources), because we would simple have like 50-100billion people on this planet, and there would be no robots who could grow so much grains to bake bread. (perhaps hyper dense pills could be the away).
So, back to the original question, why do people believe, they all can be rich ?
It was, is, and will be, ALWAYS about that who is going to earn more, not enough, but more than the others.
Why?
If there is only one mansion on the Bahamas, which is large enough, sunny enough, sexy enough, there is no freaking way, ALL OF US could buy it. Just one. 1. One. And if only 10 buyers come with their million, to who would seller sell this mansion to? First ? But second also have million and ALL OF US want to be rich (own that one mansion). So second would have to offer 2 million, right?
Wrong.
No one would want to sell such mansion in the first place, as he is already rich. We all are.
Honestly, I only want to provide something for my family. Not that really rich but nothing as well. I grew up where my parents needed to loan to give us a good education. Good thing my Unlce shouldered our school fees and boarding houses so my parents give us allowance weekly.

I finished studies thinking that I needed to provide for my old parents when I land a job after studying. I now have my own family and my only goal is not to be rich but be able to provide everything for my children, bot luxury. I also want them to learn to earn and inculcate the importance of knowing how to work hard for themselves.
116  Economy / Economics / Re: Spending Bitcoins on: March 06, 2018, 03:08:50 AM
To grow the adoption of bitcoin we need people spending it as a daily currency.
In my country there is not much I cant buy with bitcoins.
Granted not a lot of retailers accept BTC yet but with all the services available now they dont need to.
A bitcoin debit card can be very handy.

Nowadays if I need to pay a bill then I can pay any bill via a site called livingroomofsatoshi

Please list any reasons why you could not use bitcoin for day to day expenses and maybe we can find a way.

It may seem to be very convenient to use bitcoin in paying bills and buying things but Bitcoin is still starting in my country, it is not that famous yet. It may still be hard to cash it out. It is fine with me that stores and other establishments are not using bitcoin. Actually they may not be knowledgeable on bitcoins.
117  Economy / Economics / Re: short term investment or long term invesetment on: March 05, 2018, 05:42:01 AM
When it comes to the investment, many newcomers or people with frequent requirement find it difficult to invest for longer amount of time. Here by short investment i mean any investment which is less than year old. That investment has been cashed out within a year. And by long term investment I mean investment which will be kept for more than year ( ideally 10 years or so).
What do you think which is more beneficial short term investment or long term investment
According to Investopedia, Investment is defined as "in an economic sense, an investment is the purchase of goods that are not consumed today but are used in the future to create wealth. In finance, an investment is a monetary asset purchased with the idea that the asset will provide income in the future or will be sold at a higher price for a profit". Key terms are future, wealth and profit. We invest for the future's wealth and profit.

According to www.edwardjones.ca, "long-term investments are those vehicles that you intend to hold for more than one year — in fact, you generally intend to hold them for several years. On the other hand, you usually hold short-term investments for one year or less.". Regardless of the duration of your invest, it is good enough top think and act on investing for the future especially. Moreover, long term investment is advisable especially to the profits one will get. It may take several years but the satisfaction, profit and use will be all worth it.
118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Women in the cryptocurrency industry on: March 05, 2018, 01:18:12 AM
Every so often I run into an article that talks about how few women are involved in this industry compared to men. My suspicion is that there are more women involved than anyone realizes; they're just not putting their gender front and center.

What do you all think?

https://moneyish.com/ish/all-the-reasons-why-women-can-be-the-future-of-cryptocurrency/
I believe that there are many women involved in the cryptocurrency world that are not really recognized. Somehow, there are still who are gender sensitive and sees women as inferior. However, many women are being recognized because of their contributions everywhere including bitcoins and the like.

"Travelling leaves you speechless, then turns you into a story teller" a famous quote.
the world is book and those who do not travel read only one page. What you people think about traveling is worthy for life or not?
i am in love with travelling because in the end we only regret the chances we didn't take.
Travelling has been one of my greatest dreams. I want to travel around my country, Asia and even the world, even for the famous places only. I want to see the beautiful creations the world has to offer. The people, the food, their culture, I want to learn new things from the people I will meet. I want to appreciate the wonderful things He created. I hope someday, somehow, I will fulfill my dreams.
