101  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it still profitable it to mine? on: April 11, 2014, 01:54:42 PM
Two weeks ago 7 TH/s would give me 1 btc.  Now you need 12 TH/s to obtain 1 btc.
Two weeks ago the price was in the 500 USD per btc coin.  Now it is in the 400 USD per btc
Mining equipment decrease by $500 in those two weeks.

Is it still profitable to mine bitcoin?

No. It has not been profitable for a long time. You have to depend on price increase more so than buying coins to make money. Your mining equipment will depreciate in value as difficulty increases and electric costs need to be made up in the price increases.

They will become heaters in Nordic country

I had 3 Block Erupter Cubes running through February and March and they kept my large living room at about 72 degrees consistently. My heater never kicked on.

I bought the three off Ebay for $1040.00. I sold them for $795. I made .24BTC. I paid ebay 10% of the $795.
-1040+795-79+(.24*450current BTC= -216.00

Not Profitable at current BTC price!

BTC was around $800 I think. If I bought 1.25BTC for $1000, I would be underwater $440.

Less Profitable at current BTC price!

It's a gamble either way
103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why satoshi doesn't come forward on: April 06, 2014, 05:42:17 AM
This is what we know.

Satoshi created Bitcoin.
He was a very active member to the community even in his last post which was build 0.3.19.
He then disappeared to never be heard from again.
His coins still sit untouched.

The 3 most reasonable reasons for his departure are:

He died. Totally possible, would explain why the coins are untouched and why such  an active member would just vanish without warning.

He contracted a debilitating disease. He could no longer maintain his pseudonym/alter ego without his caretakers or family's help.

He stopped giving a shit. Most unlikely because of how active he was to the very last post.

104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to bitcoin when the lights go out? on: April 06, 2014, 05:18:03 AM
In the U.S. we have had major power outages that last several days, see the NorthEast Blackout of 2003. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northeast_blackout_of_2003
While this doesn't happen frequently, it still seems to be a problem for something that most people want to replace fiat.

How does bitcoin today benefit anyone if that happens?

Paper coins that can be printed by anyone still rely on confirmation. Otherwise rampant counterfeiting would take place and the coin would fail. Anyone else see this as a problem?

The network is completely reliant on the power being on at all times for any transaction to be confirmed. Not only power, but it must also have an internet connection. Would you say bitcoin is centralized around these two factors?

It's a global network.  Non-issue.

I am not talking global scale.

You are missing my point. It doesn't matter where it happens. What does an American, Egyptian, German, Russian, Australian, Insert any country or people, do when it happens to them locally. You have no physical currency that can be traded, right? If you needed food on day 2, you couldn't buy anything from a neighbor or whoever.

106  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's 21million total coin supply hinders it immensely on: April 03, 2014, 04:39:24 AM
Hals post to Satoshi on sourceforge the first week of bitcoin was speculating each coins worth to eventually be $10 million. That is just insane and ridiculous. It will never get there just for the fact that Satoshis coins are dormant and most likely belong to him/them. Giving them astronomical wealth. That to me is what most likely could doom bitcoin. 1 man has too much for nothing.  And every person who wasn't there today and every day since will not adopt because the are disadvantaged.

107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [PSA] MemoryCoin 2.0 Dev abandons coin on: April 02, 2014, 11:57:37 AM
I pointed out a mountain of scammyshit from that guy long ago and no one cared.. the scene is a joke period.
and sorry i am sick of having to repeat myself when they will just keep scamming and name changing and spamming coins to wear us down..
give it a bit and the douche will have Memorycoin v3 out (as long as he has a financial advantage / incentive)
am i the only one getting sick of the scammers that just won't leave and keep pushing shit on us ?

I here you. I could smell this from across the ocean. The problem is as long as there are people willing to follow, he is going to get away with it. It's sad but he will most likely debut a new coin under a new name and no one will know until it's too late. I suggest people stick to the classic coins. The tried and tested ones, but with the prospect of cashing in on a new fad coin, this ain't gonna happen.

FreeTrade has been missing from the forums for the last month and the MMC community didn't notice until recently and decided to vote him out. He then said that it was the true test of a coin to survive without its founder. Wtf? With MEC, he said that the coin couldn't last without the founder, contacted bter, had coin removed and then walked away to Dev PTS for another group and then MMC.

It looks as though his interest is in creating a DAC for Bitshares. I am guessing he spent the last month creating a new persona and will use this to release a new coin under the guise of Bitshares which enables a premine distribution to their holders and more than likely will benefit himself more than any other PTS or AGS Bitshares holder.

Proceed with extreme caution.
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [PSA] MemoryCoin 2.0 Dev abandons coin on: April 02, 2014, 05:24:08 AM
Freetrade was finally voted out and is abandoning the coin just like he did with Memorycoin 1. Stay away from this developer. This was predicted in this thread. He will most likely attempt to have the coin removed from exchanges as he did with his previous coin. He succeeded in having the coin removed from bter previously with MEC (memorycoin 1).Proceed with caution.

Good luck all. I advise you to be careful here.

Can anyone help with the location of cgminer.exe? Why is it missing from version 3.7.2? The Readme say antivirus might block it but I have it all turned off?

Any coin that wants to be successful needs to gone thru stress tests before lunch. I was the number 25 to be assigned to a wallet and to receive a bonus. Needless to say that I was there trying to mine in the first second that this was available. But now I am not only disappointed for the waste of time and energy, since all I did was good for nothing. I must say that if I coin is launched with this much error, it will not become anything good and it is not worth my effort. Many will be there for the second time, but I bet 2 BTC that this will happen again, maybe within just few hours after relaunch. There is zero chance of success if a coin doesn't work as son it is released. I had faith....it's gone now.
Better to stick with the ones that are out there and working. Sorry guys...you should have made sure that everything went smooth waaaay before release. But I wish you luck.

And now you are writing........

Thank you everyone for trusting us. We really appreciate it

Hello CRA team.
I asked this question before but did not get an answer.
I was one of the first ones to sign up for a wallet (autocoin #25 on the list)
How is that gonna work exactly and how will I receive my first 80 coins?
I'm supporting your guys effort and I can only wish you all the best.
Please let me know. Regards,

If it were up to me I'd say you lost your 80 coins. Then again, it's not up to me.

For 1BTC I will show you how to clone coin by directing you to 2 different websites that will spell it out step by step. Not a coingen.  It's as easy as copy paste. You don't need to know coding, just need to know how to read. There is a reason there is 100 turd coins being dropped everyday here. You just need to take the time and know what tools.

He doesn't know the sites I know. One shows you how to clone in Linux and one using windows. He will also get my 2 cents.

115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk Road 2.0 hacked through malleability, ~4000 BTC STOLEN on: February 14, 2014, 05:45:46 AM
Come on! How does a malleability attack steal their all coins 'SLOWLY' and they don't notice it until all of them are gone?
They stole the coins themselves and took advantage of the malleability situation as an excuse.
agreed!

117  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today, We all saw how weak bitcoin is on: February 14, 2014, 12:50:12 AM
I disagree.
Its one of bitcoins strength that the price reflects the market immidiately, and nobody can change it happening.
In fact, this particular property of bitcoin is the closest you will ever get to devine intervention

The stock markets do this as well. At least in today's age.

Not always.  News after hours isn't reflected immediately.  "Circuit breakers" will halt trading for a "cool off period".  Exchange regulators will often freeze trading if there are unsubstantiated rumors.

Bitcoin markets are probably the closest thing to a "free" market in the world.  That might not last long though but you can tell your grandkids about how you traded when the exchange rate was set solely by supply and demand.
you obviously dont follow the stock market. news is reflected instantly. see any Google or Aapl earnings announcement. stocks trade after hours every day. news is relayed to trading programs within millioths of seconds, see fomc statements and releases.

The other positions are currently filled, but any board member may be replaced with sufficient votes from the shareholders.
FreeTrade

I think he meant to say, "I can replace any board member I want because I have over 200,00 coins from my pre-mine and over 60,000 coins from holding 2 offices since I am the largest coin holder besides the exchanges and I can't be voted out. I am actually going to create some fake user names and new voting addresses so I can hold all positions because I am a greedy stubborn fuck who wouldn't step back to let the coin thrive eliminating the conflict of interest or wouldn't give away any of the premine. But if this coins price keeps going down, I am going to walk away because that is what I did last time my coin failed. Anyone interested in memorycoin 3.0?"
