Since it is the nature of threads like these that critics will be louder than supporters I just wanna chime in to say that I support this organization and believe that it'll be a good thing for Bitcoin. Thanks for the work you put into this guys.
A lot of people seem to be hung up on the word "THE". From what I can see it is only referred to as "The Bitcoin Foundation" in Gavin's post, on the site it is just "Bitcoin Foundation". Perhaps one of the founders can confirm that they will use the name "Bitcoin Foundation" without the "The"?

Very good. Would you give me permission to translate it to Swedish and publish it on bitcoin.se? Obviously with proper attribution and a link back to your original blog post.
Absolutely! Again, no permissions needed on this, but thanks for asking. Use as you see fit. Oh, I guess I didn't read the part about "Copy, paste, edit, and redistribute at will.", I just clicked the link. Well, I'll certainly link back to your post anyway.

Issues #2 and #3 arrived in Sweden today. Will come back with comments after doing some reading.

The official twitter account seems to have kept good pace right up until the conference was about to start. I understand that they're busy running the conference but that's still a bit disappointing.

I'm not sure where this came from originally, but this is the standard I've used... from https://bitcointalk.org/adrotate.php?adinfoThe Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.
That is also the convention that has been generally accepted on the StackExchange site. Basically everyone seems to accept it, there was never any debate.

I just have one question: Why is this not stickied?
Because the people that won't follow it tend to ignore stickies anyways. Yeah, good post theymos, but it won't help much I'm afraid. I'm sometimes amazed at how some people don't even follow the most obvious conventions. Like in the press forum where almost every post (except the stickies) is formatted as "YYYY-MM-DD Source - Article title", yet everyone once in a while someone pops in and uses a different format.

One is that it's impolite to everyone else who uses the site, you're draining resources away that people who want interactive exploration of the block chain need, for a very simple functionality.
Well, they do provide an API that lets you do exactly what OP wants. I don't see how it can be considered impolite to use that API, especially if you only poll it once every few minutes. Your other reason is very valid though.

I am going to request that thread be deleted or archived.
~Bruno~
Thread is only to be deleted if all replies are deleted by their respective owners as per forum rules. You can lock this thread though. Suggestion to Phinnaeus Gage: In addition to locking the thread, delete most of the stuff from your own posts so that innocent people won't have this page show up in Google searches of them.

I haven't read through all this but just FYI Loopia is one of Sweden's biggest web hosting providers, a very reputable company. The domain piratkopiera.se was registered using Loopia. Jimmie Eriksson is Loopia's contact for their own domain loopia.com. I'll read through this thread later to understand what you're trying to find but it seems that you're pasting a lot of irrelevant stuff.

As to why some people dislike the idea of Bitcoin, a lot of it depends on how you initially introduce it to people. I've not encountered anyone who's turned off by it, but I don't ever introduce it as a kind of investment or way to make money. I don't try and sell Bitcoins to them or get them involved. I just describe it as a bunch of people experimenting with a new financial system that doesn't need banks. Then typically they are quite receptive to the idea. They won't sign up tomorrow, but maybe in a few years.
So true, and not only for Bitcoin. Most people don't like being "forced" into new ideas. Make them curious and they will investigate it on their own. Any critically thinking person will be sceptical if you tell them that you know something fantastic, something amazing that will revolutionize the world.

Perhaps some organizational sponsorship or something like that?
That's kind of what I was thinking. Some sort of funding that would allow more people to work full time on the project. Would be nice.

Hi Ben, The following question was posted by someone on StackExchange. Just thought I'd repeat it here since I don't know how often you read the SE site. I know that there is a github public repo, but I'm not seeing a license file. The Android client is GPL3. Anyone know about licensing for the main site's code?

I assume it's the private key that's under your finger. Without any additional security measures, how can one be sure that a paper coin is unspent?
The idea with these is that the receiver of a bill scans the private key, immediately moving the funds to another address. The bill can then be discarded.
