102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. MANDATORY UPDATE! on: March 29, 2014, 12:09:09 AM
Again, about NXT-E.

I summarize some of their points:

1. They thought it's the dev who create the fork and sold 15m FAC to cash out.

2. They thought the dev is Chinese scammer. He kept a huge amount of FAC to wait for cash. Funny is all staffs of NXT-E are Chinese.

3. They said they did nothing wrong. They said they were informed too late so it's the dev's fault.  (So Satoshi should pay for those losing their money on Mtgox. Mtgox did nothing wrong!)

4. They said unless the dev paid for the loss or "combine" the fork, otherwise they will stay on the forked blockchain. That means those users who deposit their real coins won't get their coin back.

5. You can see several pages before. There are several Chinese character posts saying FAC is dead and no exchange will accept it. They are from NXT-e working QQ group.

6. Likely,  they will blame me as they think I am another account of the dev.

7. I love their logic. But they don't love ours.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You got the idea.

That's what happen with exchanges operated by students in a garage. To be honest and a bit cynical, the only person to blame is the one who trusted them in the first place. Now take your losses and move on.

Stop giving your trust so easily, stop giving them a reason to exist.

Count for Coins, IPO, Exchanges, and pretty much everything involving money.

104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][IPO] Numus (Pow+Pos) - The Future has Arrived on: March 28, 2014, 06:49:17 PM
We shall not be using escrow for the IPO, simply due to the fact we have no guarantee that the individual who is providing the escrow will keep the funds safely and not take the funds that have been raised and run away with them.

Just ... LOL

And what guarantee do WE have that you won't run with the funds yourself?

Till now we saw many IPO scams but not many escrows running with the funds (if any).

Having a professional video, website or whatever doesn't make you more legit than other IPO scams ... it doesn't cost much to hire a freelancer and setup a website, a video and the whole thing ... compared to what you will earn when you disappear with all the IPO.

So please explain yourself why would we even trust you for a second.

Edit: Is there any reason some would trust you instead of this person who is running a successful escrow ... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=76380 ?

I will re-iterate the point which I made earlier. For escrow to work both parties must trust the individual providing the escrow service. We simply do not trust a single escrower with the sum of all the funds raised from the IPO.

Its not only a case of trust in the escrower, but also a case of security. We can't guarantee that the escrower will perform proper security practices to ensure the safekeeping of the funds. With funds under our control we can monitor them and ensure that any hack to steal the funds doesn't take place.

We have spent a great deal of time and money on developing and marketing Numus. We have tried to show you our vision for Numus and what problems we hope to thwart with it. We are trying to be as transparent as possible by releasing our whitepaper. Our whitepaper details virtually every aspect of Numus, and is 19 pages long. Ask yourself had we wanted to scam people, would we have spent so much time detailing the inner workings of a currency which would never come to fruition?

The marketing is good, i give you that. You don't trust Escrow, fine, we have not a single reason to trust you...work both ways.
The only way out is to reveal your identity or a legal entity to sue if a problem happen...not a big deal if you don't plan to run away with the funds.

What about that?

107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Ф365Coin - Your daily currency. ★FAIR 0% Premine★ ►SHA3 Keccak◄ Updated: v0.9.1 on: March 28, 2014, 03:01:12 PM
The average person likes to deal with whole numbers.  That alone will be a huge issue for 365coin.

Read up on the plan for the Bitcion "endgame" - when 1 BTC is worth a vast sum of fiat, holding whole BTC is stuff of legends, and most transactions are in tiny fractions of a Bitcoin. When that is the case, Bitcoin will be mostly quoted in Satoshi (0.00000001 BTC) on a daily basis. Buying a burger might cost 360 satoshi, for example. 365Coin is effectively like jumping straight to that stage in Bitcoin's development. Your "huge issue" certainly isn't a huge issue for Bitcoin, and wont be for 365Coin either.

Most people don't even know what a bitcoin is.

When i started using Internet, most people didn't even knew what it was, same with google, myspace, facebook, android..., and so on, same with a lot of things and sectors. To be honest most of techs enthusiast surely know about it, i hope?, they are those who drive the economy these days.
Even Sci-Fi TV series use it as a currency: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2654580/ .

@Minimila,
About the idea of using 365 in the real world, of course, every coins are waiting for that, Bitcoin included (most of them if not a derivative only).

there is a lot of dedicated website already for that, "Freelance Job", maybe approaching one of them directly could be a better angle. They have the infrastructure, adding a payment method is easy.
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [JUST LAUNCHED][STD] StandardCoin - Anti Pump And Dump - Permanently Rising Rate on: March 27, 2014, 10:32:21 PM
Nope, number of posts doesn't necessary mean anything, but some more experience with all the frauds going on here may just give you that edge. Also Tomatocage is pretty good at spotting scammers, he showed it over a long period of time.

Beside that I provided extensive (overextensive.... given the simplicity of the problem) explanation. No need to trade coins with him, his scam isn't based on trading trust. It's a ponzi, another thing. Matematically proved ponzi.

It's like saying "hey, send me your btc, I'll give you back (1-1)*(15-45sqrt9/4^(4/3)*13-2) btc"
"but that's zero btc..."
"shut up u noob you don't understand the system"
"scammer.... -6 trust..."
"omg abusing the system"

You guys are CUTE.

Over. For real this time.

They got enough warning. If they want to try...so be it.
Some are ready to trade their common sense and integrity for the fairy money..., you and some are not, that's a good news.

@pikimunga Maybe you should release all wallets in the same time : Sources - Linux - Win32 - MAC, waiting a 3rd party to compile it for others who can't could be a bad news. Nice improvements btw.

Im ready to support the dev but without a new coin/website/pre-ann it will be difficult, also, Tysat the ass guy from the Bitcointalk staff hate the dev of Fuguecoin, so...
That would be his third (or fourth ?) new coin... Unless it changes his name to something else than fugue (and use an other algo), I am done with this...
Don't understand what goes through the mind of some people, he had a good coin...

Agreed, the coin is not the problem. A good coin to clone/Fork. If a decent dev team with time and good com resources, read this, that's your free ticket to glory.

still .. the catch is that if everyone wants to withdraw there will be at some point no BTC to withdraw anymore.. so itīs a risky run .. who stays in longer ..make profit and can get the money out and who stays to long there

kind of like the system Smiley
I don't see any risk in the long run here since everybody can take their money out at anytime they like without affecting the GER, in other word: not affecting other investors. When somebody take their BTC out, there will be more STD for new investors, the only effect this action causes is: benefit the future investors.

the risk is .. what happens if there are no new investors comming?. then you will have STD to sell but no one to buy them back so that the system freezes
Did you know what they say about Bitcoin? What if no one want to buy Bitcoin, Litecoin, etc.. anymore? If it happens, your coins will worth nothing. Its value is 0.
StandardCoin is different, at least you know that your StandardCoin has some value even if no one want to buy it anymore. And you also know that your coin's value is rising continously.
StandardCoin is not just a coin. It's a system where your money is protected.
Gold Standard System didn't work well in the past. But Bitcoin Standard System, with helps from modern technologies, may work.

Ok let's play your game a second, just to get some fun out of this mess.
Ok, I imagine that no one want to buy some BTC any more and unfortunately the value fall to 0. STD is backed with BTC right? so?. Are you saying you backed up the coin will real money/silver/gold? Unicorn dust?

Quote
I suggest you read through the system first. If there is something unclear, I'll be glad to answer your questions.

You cute. I understand it, don't worry.

I am not saying any bad thing about Bitcoin or the cryptocurrency community. BTC in crypto world is like Gold in the real world. It has value because people believe it is.
Yes, STD is backed up by BTC, if BTC worth nothing than STD will worth nothing. Any other coins will worth nothing. The crypto currency community will collapse.

Not what you are saying here, make up your mind.

115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [JUST LAUNCHED][STD] StandardCoin - Anti Pump And Dump - Permanently Rising Rate on: March 26, 2014, 11:30:39 AM
Sorry, but however this coin's scheme sounds at least interesting, it makes no sense what so ever.
It is a shameless self pump, actually, or maybe I name it wrong, but it is a failed design.

Imagine this coin from thermodynamic perspective, where your particular system (this coin system)
is a closed one. Now you put energy inside- namely- BitCoins. The total potential (value) of a system
over any available amount of time, stays exactly the same
-not taking into account any loss, or dissipation.
Now your system translate the potential (BTC value) into its own new scale- STD. Now the most important
part goes:
no matter to how many (thousands or millions) you divide those BTC, the total potential
(value) of a system stay exactly the same. It always will.

Now second most important part, that make me see this as a self pump: because of value of single
particle being connected with a fixed divider of the total potential of a system (value), you will gain
most buying those particles early/low (accumulation) then waiting for others to participate (add potential
to a system), and then dumping your particles
- namely- STD, which in turn render other coins to have
less total potential. After all, if you consider the edge of the example- someone will stay with ALL coins,
that has exactly 0 potential (0 BTC in system)
. It is the starting state of the system, and will be the
ending point of a system, like everything in nature.
The most important thing is to know, when to
go out, but you can easily use a half-life point of a system to get most of potential out with you.

If above is not working- then it is even worse! At this point it would be not only a fail, but also a scam.

Many people do not notice this, but as long as the whole chain of work-money-spending is not running
directly in alt coin, the whole system, and each and every coin is exactly the same scheme.

And a simplified version: obstructing the market laws in an encapsulated system means it is dead on arrival.

But I do not mean to hurt anyone, it is really refreshing to see something new.

Also not wanting to lie that I undermined your ideas without any means of profit- soon you will
see something of a true value, something that will not try to hide the fact that it is designed to
scam BTC from others; but not from people who participate (investors, miners), but from the whole coin market,
mostly the ignorants, pump&dump'ers, lazy, and stupid people.

Nothing new under the sun, that's a good old Ponzi.

Two major flow to add:

- They can't centralize the exchange forever, it will leak sooner or later and there is nothing they can do about that.
- If miners leave the game for some reasons, the coin die.

Panic with a 75% premined coin (heavily controlled), ends up with tears.

First you launch this coin with more than 2Billions supply, with an intentional fixed difficulty of 0.285 and a 5000 CC reward/bloc.

Then you claim there is a difficulty issue? and relaunch it 2 days later with 2.4 Millions supply and 12.5 CC reward/bloc, when there is already minimum 71000 Blocs at 5000 CC each in circulation...

Are you serious?!!!!

And what about the coin you launched here and never finished: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=519138.0

Stay away from that guy...

Is it possible to not go over 250Ko per img, otherwise the forum proxy won't follow and the page will not load properly. Thx.

Hey BTCspoon - really good point.

I tried to find some forum rules that explicitly say the threshold is 250kb - do you know if this is a rule or a recommendation?

I'm also having trouble seeing any of the submissions that have been sent in the last 24 hours.

Would everyone mind updating their posts with < 250kb images and see if it fixes this up?

Cheers,
M

Hey mate, more a recommendation, let's say more an empirical finding: page with a jpg/png over 250ko in it, load properly ~40% of the time. Some sort of proxy timeout? not sure.

Cmon folks, its not their fault they want to make a fortune out of their crappy exchange ur willing to play with =]

Running an exchange is not only running an easy cashing machine. It's a responsibility!. The more coin you add the more hazardous it become..., and as an exchange owner you have too acknowledge that and take the risk to pay the price.

Customers don't care about technical issues and honestly they don't have to...they pay enough fees for that.

A 20 lines script checking the balance and locking withdrawals automatically could have prevent the drama...

If you are not ready to be on your stuff 24/24 7/7 and audit the coins you add properly, please, don't open an exchange, for the sake of all the cryptos world...GOX was enough.
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ADC] AirdropCoin | Actual airdrop from a plane | IPO has started, JOIN NOW on: March 24, 2014, 11:11:55 PM
Daily update from the AirdropCoin team:
The first 24 hours of the IPO have passed. We're off to a good start; so far we have raised 2.25 BTC. We'd like to thank all participants who have decided to invest so far.

The IPO will remain opened for another 7 days. Please note that early investors get a bigger reward in ADC (higher multiplier). Please see our website for more details on the IPO.

We're currently putting all our efforts into the cryptocurrency itself, which will be released in 7 days. The code is close to final and we will soon be ready to start the premine.

We've had 128 location votes so far, see below for an alternative view the voted locations (we display a heatmap on the website):

We've had some negative reactions from certain members of the community, but it was anticipated. This is a very ambitious project in a scene that is surrounded by distrust. At this point, we can do nothing more than to ensure the community that we will go through great lengths to successfully delivering what we have set out to do. It will be easier to show our good intentions further down the road. Please note that there is a plan B in the worst case of not being able to execute the airdrop.

Airdrop commences in 73 days, 13 hours and 4 minutes at the time of writing this post.

Thank you to all supporting our project.

So far so good! let's air-drop this! already
