What do you guys think about having a backup button to our server. Where you just click it once, and everyday it will send a backup to our server automatically, and will keep multiple copies of your wallet. Its actually safer than a cloud server as we dont actually have your funds, and your wallet will be encrypted or it should be. Just an idea. If many will use it, we will add it as an option for those that want it to turn it on. With this option we can make it add multiple wallet.dat files in your flycoin/roaming folder locally too or point it to an external device. Let me know if you want this. Vegas
I think an 'auto-backup' feature, similar to what TX and DASH wallets have would be an excellent idea. I am not sure if sending the info to a central server is too cool tho. That idea is best left to the individual to decide, and protecting our wallets is up to us, not Team FLY. You guys have enough going on without taking on another responsibility. Getting the no-fee withdraw wallet is being tough enough on your Team, but 'auto-backup' would be cool because so many of us forget to do that. Keep up with the ideas Team FLY, CapnBDL I pretty much agree; also, if i understand wallets correctly, i only need to back up my wallet once... not every day, right? I mean if i create a backup on the day i install a new wallet, it is good forever, cuz the info is in the blockchain, my wallet just gives me access to it... ... so put a backup in my local "safe deposit box" and good to go, don't need to back it up like daily... I could install my old wallet, let it re-sync, and "voila", there's my current wallet again. Now, i hope that's all true, lol If not, i better get enlightened, cuz that's what I do! That is almost true. But that backup doesn't take into account things like you added a new address/es. So, personally, I backup once a month. Some ppl do more often, but, for sure, you would want to do a backup if you send coins out, to catch any new addresses your wallet may create with returned change, etc. Again, it is all up to you to protect yourself. The newer the backup, done to an off-line device (USBstick, Mem card, Another computer, etc, the better the chance of retrieving a lost wallet.dat. Hmmm... damn, just when you think you've got it all.....lol So even though the blockchain keeps track of transactions, it never associates a "sub address" with a "main address", so one would lose the corresponding amount of returned change, cumulative, I think is what you are pointing out... reason enough for me to change my habits. I thought if I manually created a new address then I would need to backup, but never realized (until recently) that every send transaction probably generates change (and an address for that change) which is subject to being lost with my system.... Thanks again! Learned another lesson for the day...that's about 372 so far, lol Thank you!

Darn, no cheap XDE for me!
Early bird didn't get that worm, lmao
You will see...we cannot hind every swing by some skilled daytraders in few weeks...so make smart buyorders and I am sure, the time will give you some wealthy XDE II! Well, since i was the very first order, and no sell orders were posted, i couldn't resist in putting in at least a respectable order, albeit a small one, just in case.... also thought it smart to keep the order small, as I didn't think there would be a rush to sell.... it will be interesting to see what happens; i'd love to see the sell orders hold up, at that price.... of course if they do, then i'll just wish i had more....can't win, lol

FUCKIN A KIKLO IT WORKED!!! Woody suggested this to me as well but i had yet to do any research before you recommended it as well. That was entirely too easy! HiggsBosunBlues and fallout4 please remove my new address from your staking. Instead send ME a pm with a FLY address. As i stated above if it worked i would split my stake savings between you two for being so kind to help me out. Kiklo and woody pm me a BTC address and i will send you both .01 for helping me recover my coins. Sorry, its not much but i want to offer you guys something.. This community never ceases to amaze me. Thank you thank you thank you!!! haha.... I know EXACTLY how you feel !! Glad to hear the good news!

Well everyone, i am absolutely certain that my coins are irrecoverable.
I took a break from crypto for a few weeks because my cat had an extremely rapid decline in health. He died saturday morning. I felt terrible doing anything other than spending time with him in his final days so i shut everything down for the time being.
Sunday i decided to fire everything back up and move on. I wanted to get my mind off of everything..
My FLY wallet kept crashing so i took it upon myself to try and get it workig again.(which ive done many times before.) Accept this time i accidentally over wrote my wallet.dat file and like a dumb ass never made a backup.
DO NOT USE THE -SALVAGEWALLET COMMAND. It will overwrite your wallet.dat.
I'm out 125 FLY. Losing my kitty was terrible but based on these recent events I'm somewhat conditioned to "losses".
Im so insignificant here anyway, its not like i matter. Enough of my sob story because I'm sure none of you give a fuck anyway...
With this, for now, i bid you all farewell. Thank you to vegas and woody for being so aswesome. Hopefully one day I'll be able to buy back in.. until then. Its was good while it lasted..
Very sorry to hear about your kitty...... i know you will miss him---he will always be in your heart and memory.

really strange stuff going on with wallet
This morning my computer was locked up and had to hard boot it. Fly-qt file was missing from roaming folder.
Downloaded new wallet file, and upon running got error message:
"Assertion failed! Program (path to flycoin-qt.exe) File: src\kernel.cpp, Line 431
Expression: pindex ->pprev||pindex->GetBlockHash()==(!fTestNet? hashGenesisBlock: hashGenesisBlockTestNet)"
Hope this means something, maybe it will help the wizards find the issue with the wallet.
this error message is a sign of a corrupted blockchain u have to sync chain again computer hardcrashes can cause such a corrupted state of blockchain good news lot lot backups existing of the blockchain eavery FLY user have one on his PC and all will help ya and share the blockinformations so u can restore the blockchain thats the power of blockchain as decentral database u have to be never afarid of the blockchain only about ur wallet.dat and ur private keys because that info noone can give u blockchain everyone can give u I knew something was getting corrupted; I have fly installed on another computer, so i just copy everything from the roaming folder from it, (except wallet.dat of course) and it solves my problem.... didn't know which file it was, so if it happens again, i'll try just the blockchain, whichever one that is, haha

Ok, not to worry.... wallet is unlocked for staking, it maybe is just a bit tired, like the Patriots right now, lol
|
|
|
Ok, I knew i probably wouldn't get anything, but the "mode" would change to staking, is what i thought.... either way, i don't get anything, lol If it isn't indicative of anything with the wallet, I'm going to not worry about it....
|
|
|
Hmmmm... maybe I don't understand how staking works; i'm still not staking, wallet says because I don't have mature coins.......
but i had coins as of 12:10 our time yesterday, and the minimun stake time is 24 hours, right? So, even if i don't receive coins yet, shouldn't this message at least not be there, and the wallet should be staking?
I know i'm not losing out on anything, as it will be a very minimal stake, but just concerned things are working the way they should....

Metamorphin: Nice job promoting XDE on Yobit chat... seems like a lot of negativity there, but there also seemed to be a lot of interest. Doubting Thomas's I guess... I hope we get listed soon, and we can kickstart things... I saw what was happening to Cube, so dumped most of that, so i can maybe buy a little XDE2 I certainly have mixed feelings, I want a good price for XDE2, but i also want a good price to buy it at, haha.....

In order for people to buy on the exchange, there needs to be some for sale. If community agrees, I would suggest sending a small amount from community wallet to the exchange to kick start trading.
I was thinking the same thing, Woody; it would also help to establish the initial price!!

So I sent 2 coins to everyone as my way of apologizing for 2 updates in such a short time. We did not send any to any team members , only community.
Thanks for understanding.
Vegas
Thank you very much, that is extremely generous! Make all the updates you want, lol

yep staking works , just staked 0.00000001 XDE2
Wow, min stake age is 24 hours, so you were Johnny-on-the-spot! That is super fast. I thought I would be staking soon, but I still am not, because I don't "have mature coins"... they should be as mature as almost anyone's, lol I'll keep an eye on it, there's a couple hours before football starts, haha

So I have re-installed the 1.78 and let it sync up, replaced the new wallet.dat with the one that holds my address, and then when I goto start the wallet, the FLY images come up telling me its loading block index, the loading wallet etc. But instead of starting it just vanishes and dose not start ?
Any ideas people ?
You have to dump your privatekey from wallet v177 and import it in wallet v178! You know, how? If he's having the same problem as I had, you can't get far enough to import or do anything....the wallet never finishes loading to the point where you even see the main screen.... it's a strange occurrence.

That happened to me yesterday too! I have another computer with FLY on it, so i re-copied everything but the wallet.dat file back to my machine, and that solved it.... something was getting corrupted... also had a weird message about keys or addresses may not load correctly, or something like that...
