We will be receiving a small batch of risers that will be for sale on Sunday.

New risers will have a yellow connector instead of blue. We will have 50,60 and 100cm risers instock. We've also upgraded our QC process to QC 100% of all our risers!

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Hello all,
Sorry to post it here but can't find support anywhere else for this problem....

Indeed, I bought the model shown in the first post, to a local supplier (that bought where ?).

I didn't manage to put more than 2 GPU on the mining rig, with such risers...

As soon as I put 3 of them, mining irg either shutdowns immediately after starting ming or shutdowns after a few minutes...

I tried multiples configurations, add an extra PSU, etc...

The problem really seems related to use of USB risers...

Testing configuration :

Asrock H61 Pro BTC
Intel G1620
4Go RAM
4x VTX 280x
Lepa 1600W
BAMT

Can't find any feedback about such risers.... So, can't define if functioning is approved...or not...

BUT, I found this thread describing the SAME problem... :

http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php/topic,7322.msg56082.html#msg56082

Thank you for any help...

Sorry to OP to post it in a "commercial" thread...

Sincerely,

It sounds a configuration issue or a defective 1x PCI-E card. Do all three cards work in 2 configuration?

I received my order today, very fast shipping! Thank you.

Sounds good! I will be offering more risers by the end of next week! Limited quantities!

It appears my inventory system needs to be worked on. We took in more orders than we can fulfill. I'll be sending a message to anyone affected by this. We will issue a refund immediately and offer a huge discount for our next shipment (basically at cost).

EDIT: 2/3/14 - We will receive more inventory towards the end of the month. We've learned a lot over the past few weeks and will be implementing some changes in our ordering and manufacturing process. Stay tuned!

Please PM me if you have any questions.

Darn, just missed the cutoff.  Subscribed for when you get more in stock.

edit: care to make a "wait" list for those of us interested in your bundle reserved for RMA purposes?

Yup, we can do that. Just post here or PM me with your desired amount and I will work on a first come, first serve basis.

We're out of stock! I've saved about 20-30 risers for RMA purposes. If there are no RMAs within the next week, these risers will go on sale.

Thanks guys! You can expect more inventory towards the end of February / start of March.

Looking for 1 USB Miner. Anyone wanna sell theirs?
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Blew up 2 mining rigs with riser cables on: January 30, 2014, 09:40:36 PM
I've been running a few mining rigs, which are basically just motherboards crammed with cards.

Due to heat problems, I've been looking to get some risers - and they finally arrived. I got 100 cm flexible USB cable risers, with SATA power. They look impressive 3 filter caps and a VRM on the riser board.

Anyway, the first thing I found was that no cards would be detected on the risers until I set the mobo BIOS to PCI-e v1.0.

So far, so good. So, one at a time, I transferred cards from mobo onto riser cables, and after a few false starts, I had 2 cards running on risers, and 1 on the mobo.

That's when I start to get adventurous, and connect a 4th card to a 1x PCI-e slot, and power it via a 2nd PSU. All the connections are double checked. The riser is in the slot the correct way round, etc.

Link the PSUs with a dual PSU adaptor, and power up.

*Sizzle* *Pop* *Crackle* <Burning smell> Cue sparks and smoke rising from the 1x PCI-e slot. The mobo is totally dead.

I recheck all the connections, and they are definitely correct.

Thinking I made a mistake, I decide to have another go.
This time, I connect directly a 1x PCI-e slot with a 4th card, after triple checking everything.

*Sizzle* *Crackle* Sparks. Another motherboard now dead.

I don't get it. I've built dozens of PCs in the past, and built a heap of mining rigs, albeit without risers. I've done dual PSU before.

What could have happened? What was cause sparks and sizzling and burn out a mobo. I've looked at the PCI-e riser design, and the power pins are not connected on the riser, so I don't see how a power surge or something could have come from the 2nd PSU back feeding the PCI-e slot.

Any ideas? Could it be a bad riser card? I've run a multimeter over it, and there don't appear to be any shorts or anything. I'm completely baffled.

Where did you get the risers? Do you have an image of the burnt 1x PCI-E slot? If not, where did the crackle/spark happen?

I apologize if this was answered and I've missed it - but do these have the presence lines connected together? (pins A1 and B17)

Yes, all USB risers have it built in. We have about 100 left of the 50cm risers and after that we'll be out of stock until March.

Cheers,
John
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 2x 280x on 750w G 80+ GOLD PSU??? on: January 29, 2014, 07:54:52 PM
Hi, I am going to take out my 7950 and put another MSI 280x gaming twin frozr in. I have a Corsair RM750 80+ GOLD PSU. Is this enough power?

Currently when using one MSI R9 280x my Belkin Conserve energy meter shows that the psu is taking no more than 350W (this includes CPU, Heatsink etc).

So, is 750w psu enough for 2x MSI R9 280x's?

Way more than enough. Your system will most likely use around 650-700w from the wall with another gpu.

All packages have been either shipped or packaged for tomorrow. If you haven't received a email or pm with tracking please contact me ASAP.

Inventory is dwindling down pretty quickly, I will not be able to get anymore risers in until the first week of March.

is there a difference in quality with the fatter powered risers and the smaller ones ? i can use these on x16 pci-e slots right?

is there a difference in quality with this guys ? http://www.magicgrowing.com/bitcoin-mining/pci-e-powered-riser-card-100cm-40-usb-cable/ thanks!

The 50cm (fatter) are the latest generation of USB Risers. The main difference is that it has 3 caps for power filtering while the older generation 60cm (skinny) has 2 caps for power filtering. Honestly, either are fine, I actually prefer the skinner versions as they look a little neater. You can use these on any PCI-E slot, so 16x would work.

As for the difference in quality, I cannot comment. Most likely they're the same since these are only manufactured by a few companies in China right now. However, I can comment that 40% of our risers are QC at the manufacture level and I personally QC 10% of riser batches.

Cheers,
John

I say let the new guy try to do some business with these.  He's obviously invested into this now if that's truly how many he bought in the picture.

-Fuse

Agreed. It is supply and demand. There is demand for these and supply appears to be limited. I didn't mean to rain on anyone's parade.

Agreed as well. This might retail for $xx but since there is a huge demand for them the market price is $xxx.
