101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MON | Monocle | Merge Mined on VTC Vertcoin - No Premine - Scrypt-N on: July 07, 2014, 03:57:26 PM
Yes it´s a tragedy, both VTC and MON are high quality coins and they get no attention anymore Sad

It's just a case of holding, really.

If they truly are high quality, they will stand the test of time. I really wouldn't want to see the type of "marketing" that has exchanges taking BTC for votes, just for the coin to reduce even further in value after getting listed.

If the coin's worth having, then people will buy/mine it.

I didn't mean marketing by paying any exchange for votes.  If people do not know a coin exists or it's purpose, why are they going to buy it?  I have a big pile of both VERT and I continue to pick up MON on the cheap and I do really like the stealth addresses, but any word about the coin or it's future would be great to show to the public.

because the trust about this coin is made on Bittrex name , not an anon Dev..

now they start allowing scam Ipo coin, tomorrow they will just use the hack lost coin argument...

if iceberg not a scam, then Bittrexs should express why they are supporting it.

All Bittrex is doing is holding the IPO so people do not have to send their BTC to anon dev BTC address.  This way it assures that people will get the coins they paid for.  Now.....after the dev gets the BTC from the IPO, that's when the fun starts and will determine if this coin will float or be a scam.

@Joshycoin

Not a problem on the mention, while hooking me up on t for that would be great, at least let me pay for the shipping which i know will probably cost more than the shirt itself because Canada. We'll have to talk once they are done and you start shipping.

And you spelt my username correctly this time Cheesy

@Squidsin

While this change appears to be good for OctoCoin as there will not be coins like before that pay 8-14BTC for an instant top 5 spot, it will definitely start encouraging users to manipulate the votes in any way possible. I sure hope that Mintpal is at the top of their game and paying close attention to votes coming from a botnet.

How would you get a bot to solve a captcha though?  Actually, I guess it could be hacked.

Anyhow, the more pressing concern is that there will only be 9 coins taken between now and when voting stops for good.... and we are 12th.  Based on current observed voting patterns we should be able to take PolishCoin easily as it's pretty much static.  Probably GridCoin too.   That would leave is with one more place to make up, assuming of course that nothing comes up from below us.  But... the others around us are breaking away faster (EnergyCoin, Aiden, Kittehcoin, Stability Shares).

Kittehcoin being above Octo just makes me shake my head. It's a coin with 25 billion coins, down from 50 billion as it's re-launch, which will be worth nearly nothing if it gets added.  It's worth less than 1 satoshi on Cryptsy and has shown nothing innovative since it's launch in Feb.  How they have so many votes, I have no idea.  A coin with no future and a ton of coins being added over a quality coin with a future and great community would just be a tragic event IMO.

That being said, I just picked up another 4900 OCTO and voted on Mintpal.

make a petition thread

if iceberg is a scam i wont never use Bittrex again so they think twice before adding it

Why would that be Bittrex's fault?  If the coin ends up being a scam it lies solely on the shoulders of the dev.

MON got delisted from BitTrex today.  Undecided

Not enough volume.  Poloniex barely has any volume either, and the price is super low!  MON needs some marketing! Something to get the word out!

"We want to be 100% transparent, so there will be a public address holding the investments."
That by itself does not mean anything. They can still move the funds without any worries, all it means is we will see when exactly it happens and how much coin was there. And that does not even change the amount of dev's profit.

The amount of blind trust that people show in the alt coin world is mind boggling to me.  The amount of money people are willing to throw at an idea makes my head hurt.
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DISTROCOIN X11 / WALLET UPDATE / DEBIT CARDS SIGNUP / MACOSX WALLET on: July 06, 2014, 11:21:53 PM
Yes we are still working on it, there will be V2 of Distrocoin soon.

So....16% pre-mine of the POW coins.  A pre-mine that is seemingly gone.  The price of the coin is in the toilet.  The only development we ever heard were always secretive and behind the scenes....but very big and unique and now it's just going away towards a version 2?  Lol.  A scam from the beginning.

What is even the point of a 2nd version if this first version did nothing? Why would you even need a 2nd version of a coin that is less than 90 days old?  All seems overly fishy to me.

We regret our ongoing troll infestation.

Please bear with us as we starve them of attention

Remember: DON'T FEED THE TROLLS

Are they really trolls if they what they say is true?  Dev sold off his pre-mine, has had 3 posts in a month and has been inactive for over a week, community is silent, price and volume are in the toliet.......instead of not feeding the trolls, you should not feed irresponsible, greedy devs your hard earned BTC.

hope we get some news before the coin is on this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=635824.0;topicseen

I'm still holding my 120k distrocoins  Wink

Any news would be good.  I know how some secrecy is good, but releasing SOMETHING wouldn't hurt.

While annoying as hell... at least bots can't vote on MintPal anymore. Well, unless they can solve 3 piece puzzles.

I noticed votes came crashing to a halt for everything except Octo as soon as they added CAPTCHA. Aiden was getting 20 votes/hour now they've gotten 5 votes in the last 5. If this actually stops the bots it will certainly work in our favor.

One more vote to tie BitCoinTalk Coin for 11th!

Wow, it's crazy to see people talk about their holdings of over 1M. I'm happy if I can even break 100k Tongue.

They are cheap right now! You can buy almost 15K for .2115 BTC!  15K OCTO for $137 US?  Steal!
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NYC] New York Coin FORUM on: July 01, 2014, 07:19:17 PM
In bitcoin, too few people believed.
However, now worth $ 600!
I procured and bought for $ 20. History.

I work with kripto coins a year. Congratulate me.
There are two higher education in computing and economic issues, and most importantly experience.

There is no specialist who consider themselves can not.

However.

In LTC and VTC too few believed.

Actually earned.

Coin, unlike the other has a great chance of success. It has many advantages.

Here in a few words explains difficult.

Personally, I have no time today - need to restore mining equipment.

Community has more than 180,000 exactly. look explorer.

For use in the NYC - the most promising.

It has no advantages whatsoever.

Just because bitcoin was a cusses it doesn't mean that every coin will reach the same level.

I doubt even 0.01% of new yorkers have heard of this clone coin.

You claim that you worked with cryptos from one year ago.
Bitcoin was 100 one year ago not 20.

Stop with your lies.

The problems with a coin like New York Coin are there are going to be 100 billion coins and it brings nothing new to the table, not to mention it's just a plain scrypt coin. You have seen how slow it's been to implement BTC in places and now trying to have a city implement their own currency?  Right now it's the chicken or the egg type problem.  In order for the price to go up, someone needs to implement as a payment type.  The problem is 1 coin is worth, fractions beyond fractions of one penny.  I don't even think 1M of them equal 1 penny do they?  Anyways, I wish you guys lucky, it's going to be an uphill climb.

Lol you guys got crazy much, I only got 25k. Cryptorush screwed me over back in march.

I have about 75K sitting in Cryptorush right now.  You can check your balance on their site right now.  They have been tweeting somewhat recently too, hopefully that means they will be up and running sometime soon.

Best post I've seen on a thread on this site.

I share these sentiments: This is the greatest fucking altcoin ever made.

Onward and Upward!!

Is there going to be a webcam on all that gold sitting around?

Webcam Smiley Somehow funny.

Seriously, gold is secured by reputable partner and not us. Can fully understand your concerns.

Will be able to track gold transactions?  See that it's there?

Since when did OctoCoin get to spot #12 on Mintpal?

Looks like i must've blinked  Shocked

I have been following this coin, mintpal removed votes from all coins where votes from multiple accounts coming from same IP address, 888 obviously had a lot less of this but you can see the bot votes Zimstake has been getting have not been removed as they use different IP addresses for each vote.

So if anyone is creating more accounts and voting from your same machine, don't, as they will be removed. I tried this with other coins so I know Smiley

I would say there is no rush at this point to get on there.  We can see right now but looking at hash and price that 888 is in demand.  Who knows how high it might skyrocket once it hits Mintpal.  That being said......I should buy some more!
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ENOUGH ALTCOINS???? DO WE NEED MORE NEW COINS???? on: June 27, 2014, 04:46:27 PM
There are over 800 altcoins already. 90%  or more of them will die sooner or later.
New coins trend is likely going to continue until people will finally start to realize that there is no money in quick pump and dump. Thats where truly innovative and professional coins will start to shine and all shitcoins will be quickly forgotten.
Im looking forward to that time.

I agree with you.  We have already started to see exchanges really crack down on adding so many new coins, which is really the only thing that gives a coin value.

The problem is:

New shitcoin introduced.
Offers bounties for wallet, translations, block chain etc.
Same people do this to receive free coins.
Pools add coin and charge a percentage....for free coins.
A small group will always get in right away, get large amount of coins and stand by coin no matter how terrible or worthless it is.
Group will petition every exchange to get added so their coins are worth anything.
If it ever does get added, most will be dumped and volume will be low.

Look at Poloniex.  57 coins ATM with a 24 hour volume of less than .1 BTC and another 8 with volume less than .1 LTC .  Why?  There is no want or value for so many coins out there.

Exchange volume is not an indicator of if the coin is good or bad. The best indicators are the coins topics, developers posts and github sources. Many the most professional coins are extremely underrated because they have long mining periods which pump and dumpers do not like.

In certain situations I would say that's true.  I'm curious to see where we will be in say 4-5 months.  I would be willing to bet the number of new coins coming out goes way down, because the pay off simply won't be there.
