101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: More child boards... on: May 09, 2013, 11:33:52 PM
Take a deep breath.  Sounds like you're having a pretty rough day & takings things a bit too seriously.  Sorry you got so wound up in the coin collecting / stamp collecting thing.

Anyways...just a heads up:  Namecoin does have it's own forum.  Lots of other alts do too.  No one is stopping you or anyone from starting up an alt-cryto forum.  There's just no need for Bitcointalk to cater to every single scam-coin-of-the-day.

102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: More child boards... on: May 09, 2013, 06:53:17 PM
Again, this is a Bitcoin forum, not a cryptocurrency forum.  The Alt fans should be thankful they're getting any space at all.

You wouldn't go into a coin collecting forum & demand the mods create sub forums for all the different types of stamp collecting.

If you want an alt-currency forum, no one is stopping you from creating your own.

Pardon me, but we've been discussing Namecoin on this forum since Satoshi was calling it BitDNS or whatever.

Coins:Stamps::Bitcoins:Altcoins?  What an atrociously bad, logically deficient syllogism.

Bitcoin and Bitcoin-like virtual cryptocurrencies are all Satosh's children.

At what point did we decide only his first born was worth of our attention and the rest should be confined to the "alternate" coin ghetto?

Litecoin?  That's just Bitcoin's crazy cousin.  We keep him locked up in the basement, even lower on the menu than Off-Topic.

Namecoin?  Well, Namecoin is Bitcoin's little sister so we let her run around, because she's got development problems and doesn't hurt anything.   Roll Eyes

This is bitcointalk.org, not cryptocurrency.org or altcurrency.org.  Not sure how to make it any simpler for you.

I have asked for the same thing and contributed to many further posts asking for child boards... the mods don't care and never will.

Maybe because this is bitcointalk.org?  Everyone should be happy there's even an alt subforum at all.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Introducing Pudding Coin (PDC) on: May 09, 2013, 03:51:57 AM
Heard from my cousin's history teacher that some guy told him his brother saw a post in the BTC-e trollbox concerning MtGox trading PDC within the month.

I mean, they already trade FTC & CNC, so I don't see why not.

Thumbs up on the super-fast, very easy trade...thanks Chuck!
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get 5 FREE BTC if you edit your post on first page of Ripple Giveaway on: May 08, 2013, 11:54:00 AM
Damn, that's a good deal; definitely take you up on it if I was on the first page...but I'm on page 90 or something.  Smiley
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Freicoin: demurrage crypto-currency from the Occupy movement (crowdfund) on: May 07, 2013, 10:28:43 AM
Am I looking at that chart right? 10^16 is a heck of lot more than 100 million coins.
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Buying Freicoin on: May 07, 2013, 01:35:23 AM
Just an FYI, Vircurex has relativity decent volume for FRC, and they aren't charging demurrage this month.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New coin FairCoin (FAC) Concept, needs ur opinion on: May 07, 2013, 01:02:11 AM
Change the name, it is too easily confused with fairbrix.

e.g. bitstart.sh, devstart.sh, fairstart,sh, namestart.sh, groupstart.sh startup scripts for starters.

Then on into greps and wildcards too, adding keystrokes needed to find stuff.

Etc.

Too close to Freicoin as well.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: That's it, I've lost hope in the future of crypto currencies... on: May 07, 2013, 12:51:40 AM
I think it's really funny that people have such a hard time simply ignoring cryptocoins that they don't like.

It's super easy for me...
+ 1

For me ignoring these new coins is impossible, the lost profiting opportunity is just too much to handle. New coins have made my mining operation many times more profitable than any BTC/LTC mining before.

Enjoy it while it lasts...the market is being flooded with a new alt coming out each day.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Freicoin (FRC) Issues - Global or local to that exchange? on: May 07, 2013, 12:46:41 AM
Vircurex isn't charging demurrage at all during this month, actually.
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FTC -> CNC -> Next coin please! on: May 07, 2013, 12:39:22 AM
Well i'm tired from seeing new coins everyday, they are not digital currencies they are some fucking joke.

I'll better stick to LR/WMZ etc.

Yeah, this subforum has so many threads it's tough to tell what the next pump-n-dump is gonna be.

114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's with value of Alts today? on: May 07, 2013, 12:31:46 AM
What goes up must come down, particularly when you're talking about highly speculative alternative currencies with no real world use.

Especially since they'll have another 50-100 types of altcoins to compete with in the next month.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Insta-mined on: May 07, 2013, 12:24:02 AM
Pretty much all of them are "insta-mined"

Good term, though.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will FTC die ? on: May 06, 2013, 05:41:33 PM
When a GOXed LTC goes for 10-20$ a piece, as it should be, then the need for a 1$ -2$ scrypt coin will become apparent.

It seems like everyone is expecting LTC to rise dramatically when it hits MtGox, which is exactly why it won't happen.

Contrarians make money in this game, not the ones following the herd.
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to pick a doomed Altcoin [hint pick FTC, CNC, TRC, BitBar, RUC] on: May 06, 2013, 04:41:16 PM
Thanks OP for the tips...but I'm curious about your thoughts on FRC?
118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will FTC die ? on: May 06, 2013, 04:31:02 PM
It won't technically "die", but the initial pump stage is clearly over.  Many people - including myself - bought some simply because we knew we could probably flip them for higher prices during this period.

There's no actual "point" to this coin outside of making a quick buck.  In a few weeks/months it will just get lost among the 100's of other alts that will be introduced.
119  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Going to Mexico...junk 925 Silver for spot+50 cents Available on: May 04, 2013, 01:28:23 PM

So, it's 92.5% pure?  What's the rest of it?
120  Other / Archival / Re: closed on: May 04, 2013, 01:04:35 PM
Having Google Authenticator on there as a security option would be the "bee's knees", as my grandma used to say.

Otherwise, great site.  Glad Freicoin was added.
