101  Economy / Speculation / Re: If Bitcoin Repeats History? 5 Part TA Series On Descending Triangle Breakdowns on: October 22, 2019, 05:14:30 PM
Bakkt launch was an important event. It was probably the reason why the Bitcoin price took off in March. Something like buying the rumor and selling the news type of trading. As you can see the price fell from the triangle exactly on September 23. But the thing is unlike December 2017, the price is not yet in a parabolic move. I think the halving event will be the parabolic move.
I doubt you could push bakkt into the front as the reason. BTC was indeed hyped up when Bakkt announced its launch so a lot of analysts deduced that bitcoin could push for a bullish run after its launch. Sadly, the launch itself hardly had any effect on the market, and the market even went down to 7500 $ or so after the launch.

Id expect a close scenario similar with 2017 or the part 5 as indicated by OP. Well, halving is just around the corner and we all would expect the price surge once it happens. I'm gonna wait for the results for changes next week again. Still waiting for a part 5 repeat next year.

You don't understand. The day Bakkt launched, the event was already priced in as the price climbs from $3,000 back in early 2019. It is a trading strategy to buy something before the actual event - which can be a launch, opening, listing, etc. If the announcement never happened, the btc price could just be ranging around $3,000 - $6,000 until today.
102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin market dominance rising fast? on: October 22, 2019, 05:09:43 PM
I don't think altcoin will ever die, because more and more altcoins are appearing in the cryptocurrency world. some were destroyed, but newer ones appeared. In my opinion altcoin will still accompany bitcoin in the crypto market, but its popularity will not outperform bitcoin. when you ask, why is the dominance of the bitcoin market so fast. in my opinion because bitcoin is the best coin among other coins and bitcoin is more attractive to investors than altcoin. although bitcoin is one of the limited crypto currencies in supply with an exceptional development team, but in my opinion altcoin will always be in the crypto market and will never be obsolete. because there are definitely traders who use altcoin to make a profit.

Actually, altcoin's existence is important to cryptocurrencies. Let's say in a world where Bitcoin, the use of bitcoin, the trading of bitcoin is banned everywhere or somebody actually destroys the bitcoin network. People can move to other coin networks if tragedy happens. No one knows what the future brings.
103  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM: Bitcoin SV (BSV) - fake team member and plagiarized white paper on: October 21, 2019, 06:09:01 PM
Theymos, you may close this troll's topic. BSV has win in this discussion

BSV $105.57 +15.67%

Bitcoin SV Price          $105.57 USD
Bitcoin SV ROI           19.55%
Market Rank              #9
Market Cap                $1,884,951,630 USD
24 Hour Volume         $424,702,501 USD
Circulating Supply      17,854,986 BSV
Total Supply              17,854,986 BSV
Max Supply               21,000,000 BSV
If your definition of "winning" is a one day of 2-digit gains, then I suppose thousands of shitcoins also 'has win in this discussion' [sic].

Let's not forget that the market cap of BTC is much, much higher and you still have US$4.1739B of a difference in the gains made today.

A 10% movement in the DJA is much more significant than a 1000% movement in a crappy penny stock.

I don't know what market price action has got to do with BSV being legit and not a scam. Anybody and everybody can be fooled, just take a look at the Frye Festival. The most successful scams made billions of dollars. Onecoin could be called legit with this reasoning.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you always invest in top ranked coins? on: October 20, 2019, 04:52:12 PM
no, buying low rank gems is where the big profit is. I would consider buying top ranked coins if i have a fund like hundreds of dollar but in my current situation i would stick in looking for potential low cap coins/tokens.
If you have hundreds of dollars you can pick any low cap coins and tokens because highly risky investment and if you have less money you must concentrate the future profit and plan the perfect schedule. May be most of the investors are choose the top ranked coins in crypto market so better we can also follow the same way is right direction.

Low rank gems are the best ROI if you know how to lessen the risk of failure or loss. They can go 30,000% easily if you pick wisely. But of course they are the riskiest since 95% of all coins are worthless or scams. So that means out of 3,000 coins/tokens, only 150 are ok investment and only 30 will make you money.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: October 20, 2019, 04:42:05 PM
Well, I kinda agree with you using blockchain on in-game purchasing would be a game-changer. But I still think once ETH gets converted to the PoS mechanism we would see some good price movement. Maybe after that something innovative will follow lol
Actually, I'm quite intrigued on what will be the effect of PoS mechanism once its implemented regarding to its price movement and project growth overall. But, honestly, is there any timeline on when this will be implemented? I know that there are technical challenges but why are they taking so long?

Hey, I'm not negative regarding my comments. I just wanted some additional information regarding the planned POS mechanism.  Wink

As far as I know, they are planning to launch the phase 0 of ETH 2.0 on Jan 3rd 2020. As to why they are taking so long to I have no idea lol.

If you want to know more maybe you can read this article by the cointelegraph.

I could tell you examples of several coins that went from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake here in Bitcointalk but they are all mostly mining pump and dumps. The scheme was coins were either pre-mined, allocated or developer-biased mining. Miners mine for the first two weeks or so and then switches to PoS. Of course, because the insider miners received the most coins, they pump up the coin in Bittrex or Poloniex upon coin listing and then dump their large stacks onto unsuspecting buyers. But in ETH's case, it is already years of PoW before switching to PoS. I think at first there will be hype and then back to the old prices.
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XRB]Cryptocurrency's killer app: RaiBlocks micropayments on: October 20, 2019, 04:33:22 PM
Yep i still love Nano ! I just made a deposit from my personnal wallet to Binance and transaction was nearly instant  Shocked Sometimes it takes few minutes due to Binance, however. But this time , wow ! As fast as lightning  Wink

This is one that I like about Nano, the transaction is so fast especially when it is a deposit and it's very flexible if I'm not at home with a wallet on my computer.

There used to be a simple Raiblocks gaming platform that showcases the lightning-fast transactions of Nano. Once you send the Nano and instantly you know you win or lose, the platform sends back your bet and winnings in seconds. I don't know where it is now.
107  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM: Bitcoin SV (BSV) - fake team member and plagiarized white paper on: October 17, 2019, 04:25:13 PM
Tone said he was "jumped by them" and they took thpse pictures. He called Craig out later: https://twitter.com/swissborg/status/1184444664847450113?s=19

Can't trust Tone. I rather like the lady calling him out with passion. Though I don't understand the reference to pumpkins, tomatoes, etc and a super big farm. Anyone? Was Craig a farmer once?

108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SONM • Decentralized Fog Computing on: October 16, 2019, 05:51:11 PM
I don't understand what Andrey Voronkov is saying. He said, he talked to Kucoin and they promise not to delist SONM. He added that DAO will be more active on Kucoin when formed, but that the trading volume of SNM tokens should be higher in Kucoin. Anyone?

I’m the asshole who keeps inventing things that other people need. I’m not the good media personality. You think I’m gonna complain because I only get to keep $6 billion? And I’m the only surviving member of Satoshi? The judge ruled it was a partnership. I’m the asshole Satoshi. And Dave was the nice one. So have a nice day.

There are a handful of people I've come across who I just sit back and think 'what made you? How did you end up like this? How can you possibly think you're awesome?'

I know every man is a hero to himself, but there comes a time where it crosses over into something incomprehensibly peculiar and dark.

Craigy is definitely a prime example. Boasting about non existent funds doesn't really make anyone look cool.

Anyway, the conference is now rolling.

He was also giving away these t-shirts, not just wearing one  Grin

Good for him, this is a respectful amount of effort in shaming Faketoshi and his bullsh*t.

Meh, Tone Vays is just a showman. Here he is, laughing it up with Faketoshi and best bud.  I don't understand these people's need for attention, are they planning to monetize on their infamy?

110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A rise on Bitcoin addresses that holds 1k BTC or more is a bullish sign! on: October 15, 2019, 02:11:06 PM
Am I crazy or just glancing at this chart gives zero indications that the two are related? I don't see paired spikes or anything that shoes upcoming spikes or dips.

This is the spike the OP is talking about. Sure, it could be coincidence or "more rich people chopping up their vast amounts into several addresses." Hmmm, many Bitcoin holders are truly aware of good security practices, I guess the space has matured.

111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 15, 2019, 02:01:13 PM

Y'all do me a solid, will ya?  Favor?  Just let me know WHEN is really the 'ahem' Right.Time 'ahem' to GET BACK IN!  lolz

When altseason comes you should get back in. How do you know alts are back? A 10x coin happens every week with large trading volumes. That is usually the sign that traders and investors are back - a "throw a dart with a blindfold" moment.
112  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM: Bitcoin SV (BSV) - fake team member and plagiarized white paper on: October 15, 2019, 01:51:37 PM
Nice socks. Hey Craig, where can I buy such ones..?  Grin

They seem to have become his trademark. Perhaps he'll turn them into a cottage industry. I'd vastly prefer to be known for my snazzy red socks than my pathological delusions.

And Tone Vays gave him his very own shirt too - https://twitter.com/PrivateHenkie/status/1184070550056034304

Holy shit! Tone "Count to nine" Vays did what he promise to do. Lol, what a sick burn "except Craig Wright shirt." I never like that pompous Vays guy but this is a thumbs up for him. What a stare down. The things people do for attention.
113  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 4 reasons why Bitcoin has bottomed out on: October 14, 2019, 07:36:46 PM
I thought the Bitcoin bottom was $3,121? Anyway, for this current push up from the yearly low, Fibonacci retrace of a little more than 61.8% (from the weekly chart) is typical of Bitcoin.

So this correction after the breakdown of the descending triangle seems to be over and it is also very oversold. I expect $8k to be held strongly and maybe some sideways move.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Sugarexchange.io will ever come? on: October 13, 2019, 08:06:28 PM
May be my statement was unclear. Sugar has started already and their token is called sgr. All I want to say about sugar exchange. They planned to start their own exchange. There was no ICO, no IEO, started as airdrop. But they were listed on exchanges and was being traded with good volume. People invested on this project due to unique features of the upcoming exchanges, they promised.

Do you think maybe when they got listed they dumped their premine and fucked off with the BTC?
you should know thats a VERY popular tactic for shitcoiners

-Promise the world, get community to fund your exchange listing  (sometimes they even pay the listing themselves with previous scam money)
-Dump premine, go dark, as you therefore have no more skin in the game once your premine is dumped
-Rinse and repeat

Sounds to me like thats what happened man

And it's a real strong possibility that what you said is true. Just look at the about page, "Sugar Exchange was started in 2017 by a pair of like-minded cryptocurrency investors." That's it. It is so easy to go with the wind and be gone forever without repercussions.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 13, 2019, 07:56:59 PM

This looks very painful to watch. It is very clear where this is heading for.
How is pre-2017 time relevant? If you look at the chart since 2017 it doesn't look so pessimistic. I don't think 2015 and 2016 are relevant - at that time, the only users of Monero were dark web users and some small scale home miners.

By this logic ETH is going towards 0.005 as well ($60). Not a chance!

I might be trying to contort myself because I didn't catch a falling knife. But even looking from a distance I can't imagine XMR below 0.005 BTC.
You think it's realistically possible?

The next support is at somewhere around 0.006. If it gets breached, it is all empty till 0.003.

XMR jumped from 0.003 to 0.025 in 25 days in 2016.

0.006 is a critical number, If what I fear happens, you better prepare yourself. Hopefully none of you here are overinvested in XMR, right?

*I bought some back in the day from 0.017 and it isn't very pleasant for me to say these.

TA works. Whoever pumped this from 0.003 to 0.025 has the power to reverse the action in the same short time frame.

Here we are. It is half way happened.

The next support is at 0.003. Are we shitting our pants yet?

Based on your chart, I see Monero's price hitting 0.0042btc and then a sharp recovery back to 0.006btc. I don't think Monero's price action will differ much from the rest of the top 10 altcoins - they move in sync these past years.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PASC] PascalCoin: Deletable blockchain - Like Bank accounts [SAFEBOX] on: October 11, 2019, 06:20:54 PM
It's a temporary problem. As long as the community is still intact and the developing team is still coding, you shouldn't worry especially if the coin's use-case is quite compelling. Exchanges delist because of costs - no or low volume means they are hosting the trading pair for free. But when altcoins come back, the volume will return.
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] (QTUM) - A Scalable Smart Contract Platform w/ Proof of Stake on: October 09, 2019, 10:31:13 PM
My friend Ibai worked at Qtum and also confirmed they would fake funding. Then they fired him simply because they found out he was my friend.

You see, if Qtum says it raises X million dollars but didn't really raise that much they get free coins. Then when they wash trade they dump it on the market. They get very, very rich off that and they had not done any work to deserve that. Even if they work after the fact it does not change how they stabbed people in the back to get it.

Strong accusations there, David. I don't disagree with you about Dai being a shady character. Hell, many people here will stab you in the back for money. It is the wild west of crypto. But from an unbiased, neutral view of a trader/investor who is willing to take a risk, QTUM looks good on paper.
118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I access my BTC and other wallets on Public Internet Cafe on: October 09, 2019, 10:15:24 PM
If you have no other choice but to use other people's computers like the very public and probably full of trojans Internet cafe PCs, I suggest you bring your own bootable USB with a Linux OS. That's what I do to isolate some wallets. You just plug it in and you have your own desktop and harddrive source. I use Ubuntu. These Linux USB drives have universal drivers for video, audio, and network.

This is a good option for OP if he don't have any choice although accessing Bitcoin wallets on different or public computers is not advisable as it's likely you get hack by the owners or other user of the computer. I've never try using a USB with a Linux OS on a public internet cafe so I'm wondering if you will still get the virus by just plugging in and boot to it?

No virus by booting in to your own OS. Thinking of it this way - you made a brain transplant to a person and that person will not be the same person prior to the brain switch.

It won't work.
Those computers run behind a management program like "MyCyberCafe" not only you won't be able to enter the boot section because the employee there will instantly notice but even if you do your os won't be able to connect to anything.
It's not like renting a car, it's taking a taxi.  Grin

Anyhow, I'm surprised nobody advised the OP to stop using webwallets also. Not your keys...not your coins.

Ah, the sophisticated Internet cafes. In my area, there are still shops with no network management. Anyway, if no other choice, I would never in a million years, expose my wallet or private keys in a public computer.

One of the most obvious attempts I'd say!
1) No one is crazy enough to gift away a big fortune to random people.
2) The user is account named "ArthurMaIU89" and has changed their display name to "Vitalik Buterin".

These new scammers are hard at work in trying to beat Twitter and avoid scam tweet detection. If you haven't noticed, the occurrence of scam ETH giveaway replies has reduced significantly after Twitter's algo update.
