101  Economy / Exchanges / Re: COINBASE UNSENT ARRR on: December 05, 2017, 08:55:41 PM
There should be a place on coinbase where you can view the actual BTC transaction, like where it said there were 6 confirmations.
102  Economy / Exchanges / Re: COINBASE UNSENT ARRR on: December 05, 2017, 08:50:46 PM
What's the txid for the transaction?  You can look that up in blockchain.info and hand verify the destination address to make sure it was right.
103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase Not Sending Transactions?! on: December 05, 2017, 08:45:34 PM
Bank transactions don't happen instantly and deposits to brokerage accounts aren't available instantly (at least in the US).
I've done ACH transfers from my bank to my account at Interactive Brokers and had to wait 3 days before I could use the funds.  It's just business as usual it turned out.

BOOM Cheesy
I had a feeling it was going to happen today, and there it is! My heart skipped a beat when I saw it Shocked
Did you detect a disturbance in The Force?
105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase Not Sending Transactions?! on: December 05, 2017, 08:00:01 PM
Still sounds like Coinbase is waiting for the fiat to clear.  If there's no txid then they haven't done the BTC transfer yet.
Coinbase is pretty reliable.
106  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase Not Sending Transactions?! on: December 05, 2017, 07:50:16 PM
Maybe the fiat deposit to Coinbase hasn't cleared yet.  How did you deposit the fiat and how long ago?
107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: International Governance of Bitcoin on: December 05, 2017, 07:25:21 PM
Bitcoin *itself* cannot be regulated.  Sure, governments can write laws banning this and allowing that.  But they can't stop me from sending you BTC in exchange for any goods/services you've provided.
The best they can hope for is to shut down exchanges that allow cashing out in fiat.
108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: International Governance of Bitcoin on: December 05, 2017, 07:20:37 PM
The US Dollar has been and continues to be the #1 choice for illegal transactions.
When's somebody gonna do something about that? Cheesy

Scheduled maintenance is BS.  What exchange would schedule maintenance during normal trading hours?
110  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Which online wallet for bitcoin is safer? on: December 05, 2017, 04:32:05 PM
Just don't use web wallets!  They're unsafe because you do not have access to your private keys!

Use one of the thin clients like Electrum.  Very easy to set up and you own the private keys.
111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in the classroom, yes or no and why? on: December 05, 2017, 02:53:46 PM
Kids already know about BTC.  They learn about it through word of mouth from friends that bought drugs in dark markets.
112  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-04] The Winklevoss twins are now Bitcoin billionaires on: December 05, 2017, 02:23:14 PM
Being a billionaire in BTC doesn't really mean that much.  BTC remains inconvenient to use and is basically not fungible:  You can't reasonably expect to buy a car or house with it.
(Yes, yes every now and then you see a news item where someone bought a car or house with BTC but those are one-off occurrences.)

Imagine buying a penny stock and having it shoot up 1000x overnight.  Congrats!  Your position is now worth $10,000,000  However, getting out of a position like that is very difficult in the OTC market.  I actually knew a guy this happened to.  BTC is not unlike a thinly traded penny stock.  When the price shoots up the buyers disappear and then you can't sell.

Post once per day but don't post garbage (i.e. copy/paste etc).  Posting garbage will cause moderators to delete your posts which will decrease your activity count.

3QZdCKifY8vyiboDzYfNJzBffnSiuvGh4g my bitcoin wallet, its better to late than never  Smiley
and i can't sign coz i use coins.ph
Download a thin client like Electrum and create a new wallet.  Even if you don't have BTC in your wallet you can still sign a message like everyone else is doing here.
In fact, it's probably best to transfer your BTC from coins.ph to your newly created Electrum wallet.  That way you have *real* possession of your BTC with your own private keys.
Entrusting your private keys (and BTC) to online wallets is considered bad practice.
115  Other / Meta / Re: How my custom DDoS protection worked, and how it could've been improved on: December 01, 2017, 07:56:31 PM
That was actually pretty interesting.  At least you learned a lot from the experience!
I will say the site is very snappy now.
116  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How Many BTC with an AntMiner S9 on: November 13, 2017, 08:37:03 PM
How many BTC can you make now (nov 2017) according to the new difficulty factor with ANTMINER S9?
All you have to do is go the the link I posted above, type in 13.5 TH/s for the hash rate.  The calculator already knows difficulty, block reward etc.
117  Other / Meta / Re: Where can I report this kind of situation? on: November 11, 2017, 01:46:18 PM
Today when I open my account my posts keeps falling and my post/comment on a thread won't add up to my post count. Can anyone help me where i can report this. Cry

Quickly get to a mirror and report this at once!

You can find your "lost" drafts here:

119  Other / Meta / Re: How do you raise your activity on bitcointalk.org and become a hero member? on: October 12, 2017, 12:44:42 PM
I don't recall doing anything special.  All I did was make (generally) relevant posts to constructive threads.

I did most of my posting a few years back and then slowed down.  Back in the day we were all talking about mining which I found very interesting.  Now everyone's all hung up on what kind of member ranking you have and how long it takes to advance.  I don't remember knowing or caring about that.
