Also, should we be trying harder to stop the BTC black market?

Here here! Ron Paul 2012!
I'm sorry but... Never apologize for your opinions. Look at how things were before we had an educational system and look at countries where the educational system is not effective.
I suggest you look at how things were before we had an educational system. Things were not as desolate as you might think. Not sure what you mean by "education system". When the pilgrims stepped off the Mayflower there was an education system. It was called a "one-room schoolhouse" or even "homeschooling". Either one is completely legitimate.

Guess what, the US department of education opened shop in 1980. Are you saying that the quality of education has increased since then?
Yes, you need some centralized system to pay your teachers and maintain your buildings, equipment, etc. No, it doesn't have to be run from 500 miles away.

Nonetheless it was an interesting read.

...the simple fact that it removes all risk on my part as a vendor. Once the payment is confirmed I have that coin. I don't think that's entirely true. If you're a vendor on SR or BMR aren't there escrow mechanisms to prevent a "take the money and run"?

This is of course one of many "what will happen after halving day" threads. However, it should be very interesting.

hi, can anyone tell me how long i need to wait to get my unpaid balance? i stopped mining more than a month ago, and my unpaid balance has not yet been received ...
I was in the same situation. Stopped mining at eligius and had an unpaid balanced that never cleared. I kept watching if I'd enter the payout queue but my address never appeared there. So to kick the payment loose I had to start mining again.

Third time's a charm for Steve G! (Count me in)

because if I scam, no one will buy from me anymore, what would you suggest I do?
Come up with a different business plan.

Haha. Business plan: epic fail!
"Trust me. I won't remember the private key. I swear."

I'm still unclear what OP is proposing be actually done about the "problem"
Black markets have existed since the dawn of time and will always be present.

this looks great, but i`m still looking for a solution to get this kind of info from my miners, with them beign behind a firewall
Is it a firewall at home or work? If it's at home you have to set up your router to forward port 80 to your web server. If it's at work I doubt they'd want you running a web server on their network.

Still waiting for a moderator to point out the posts that caused the banning. All we have so far if a very confused user pointing to July.
Meh. It's a web site. The owners have full dictatorial rights over whatever is posted here and don't have to answer to anyone for it.

In case there's a rapture, can I have your car?

Wow that's horrible advice ...and advising someone to disable their security to allow a trojan in, isn't? Look Mr. "9 posts" if you'd read the cgminer thread you'd realize that the windows version does in fact give false positives for perfectly explainable reasons. It's completely safe and you can safely add cgminer to the anti-virus whitelist since it's not a threat. This has been covered over and over again in the cgminer thread.

I hate to be a filthy capitalist but the best measure of Bitcoin adoption is the price. The more goods and services exchanged for Bitcoin, the higher the price is. It's really simple.
Price in relation to what? Fiat currencies? That means nothing. But I do agree that the more goods/services exchanged for BTC the better.

I've been running the Satoshi client for some time now and don't plan to stop.
I'm not sure the number of listeners is any indicator of BTC growth.

How would they find out? Simply cracking a WPA key is undetectable. Now, actively accessing someone's network with that key is another matter...
There must be a lower threshold for probable cause in Germany than in the US.

There is only one reason for a normal person to want a Bitcoin - to break rules, laws, and regulations...
Baloney. That's the sort of reasoning behind Executive Order 6102 (Roosevelt's gold confiscation order). I would argue that forward-thinking people seeking protection from economic collapse are looking at BTC as well as gold. If some criminals are seeking tools to carry out their illegal activities then BTC will certainly be one of them. But good old-fashioned USD greenbacks are the mainstay of illegal activity, not BTC.
