Just got notification that my two new avalon miners should arrive Monday. But my hosting place just informed me that they are full. Does anyone know of any reliable hosting with available space, preferably here in the US. PM me so as to not tie up the thread.

Did you have to pay in BTC?
i got my first miner few weeks back and paid by wire transfer but now they want btc payments only...
I did pay in BTC. But that is my preferred method. I didn't even ask about alternate forms of payment.

As for the miners, I talked to my hosting place and he's gonna squeeze them in. So, hopefully they will be up an running on the pool on Tuesday.

It seems like the easy way is to just signal segwit. The hard way is to block it until the chain splits, and the users are driven to the segwit chain. And its not unlikely that the segwit chain will have different PoW so you cant even use your miners on it. You will be left in the dust.
Actually it seems the easy way would be for core not to ignore what the group who built bitcoin wants and stop trying to ram segwit down our throats. Segwit is not the way forward, except for it's developers. It's a long term solution for them to funnel all the bitcoin into their pockets as block rewards halve.

Ethereum is now trading above $300. Thanks for crippling bitcoin! Smiley
You're Welcome!  Kiss

Though I don't think trading at about 7 times what it was last year is exactly what most would call crippling.  Tongue

I can login fine, no problems seen here...  Huh

Edit- sure you're using the correct Username, not Workername, right?

I am using the correct username. I filled in the password reset form to see if maybe I had the wrong password but have not received a message yet.

Edit: It might just be my email, as I've also tried logging in to my Blockchain wallet and the verification email hasn't come for about 20 minutes now
This came up a while back and as I recall some free mail servers like hotmail and maybe gmail had erroneously put the domain our mail comes from on a spam mail blacklist and would not accept messages from the pool. If you are a using a free mail account I would suggest another email addy.
107  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150+ PH] SlushPool (slushpool.com); World's First Mining Pool on: June 02, 2017, 04:51:24 PM
If you change the parameters on top to 24 hours, it will change the hashrate distribution, right now the 24 hour hash rate is 0, so it doesn't even show slushpool.

Terahash/sec rate went from 4,500,000 to over 5,000,000 rather quickly. A difference of 500,000 TH/s is equivalent to about 37,000 S9s coming online.  I've linked the hashrate for 30 days below, very sporadic swings.  I'm not sure why the sporadic nature of the chart is like that, I would expect something more linear.

https://blockchain.info/charts/hash-rate?timespan=30days
Read the top line of that page "An estimation of hashrate distribution amongst the largest mining pools"

This chart is only an estimation of hashrate based on blocks found. It assumes that since your pool found 'x' number of blocks in a 'y' hour period, your hashrate is 'z'. The calculations are based on the pools having exactly 100% luck. Which we all know never happens. Take a look at Kano pools luck it says it went from 1.8% to 3.7% in the last 24hr period. The hashrate there did not double, the pool simply had a lucky streak. The same thing applies to slush when there is 900+% block, the short term calcs are wildly skewed since they are based on 100% luck. Fortunately blocks like this only happen 1 in ~8000 blocks.

The pool has been failing over a lot lately, Many dropped connections  Embarrassed , sadly these S9's fail to handle failover properly
Yeah a bunch of mine just failed over to johnny's pool. They are starting to come back home now.

Looks like luckyant is failing over again. Wonder if we'll beat the hashrate from yesterday and if he'll find a block again!  Grin

wow 110PH ) Go Kano!
It got up just short of 112ph when I was watching. Pretty sure it was just a failover though. Luckyant with about 41ph.

Wish I had that kinda hash! Makes my 140th seem small.

thanks GAMORA
all my old stuff is pointing @ bravo-mining just fine, but my new s9 is showing Jonny's pool as dead yet in the second place it is connecting to bitminter  Undecided
and I cant get into Jonny's website past the dashboard page, things just won't load Cry
I had a similar problem with mine once, but I forgot to add the new miner name on the pool miner page.

No, the Bitmain bmminer code hides stale shares.

It's supposed to send them to the pool and let the pool decide, but they have a hack during the share processing to discard them and not count them.
It makes people think they're miners are better than they are.

The problem of course is that every single S9 in a data centre of 10,000 S9s isn't talking to a bitcoind to verify the network state, that's the job of the pool sending out the work and getting the shares ... ... ...

It's the same with HW errors, they intercept and don't count a lot of them to make your miner look better.

Yes this is fact, not here-say or exaggeration, you can see it in the bmminer code.
I wonder if Ebang is doing something similar with their E9 miners. I have 4 of them running on the pool and they report about the same stale rate as the S9/T9's

I'm running about 120ths with 0.133% error rate. The majority of which are also stales. I'm assuming from machines returning work just after a network block change. I've a mixture of machines from Bitemain, Avalon, and Ebang. The bulk of which are colocated in a data center.  I wouldn't stress too much about your error rate.

Yeah, I'm not stressing over it. The stales just seem to be a little higher than normal. Might have been an ISP hiccup, network hiccup or my network itself. Or a combination of all three - plus other gremlins. Who knows.   Grin

My miners put out a total ~51-52TH has rate. (One S9 is only running 2 of three boards. Then I have an S7 (F1) (one-fan miner) running at the end of the hallway. It keeps cool by the breeze through the bedroom window. That miner behaves and keeps cool very easily.
As long as BTC is high, that miner is still profitable for me to use that S7.

Ready for a BLOCK-A-LANCH!!!!!!  Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool

COMEONBLOCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy :

The pool average for Invalids is 402.4k (0.36%) · 3.9G (0.34%) so you are well below that.  My 145TH/s is running at 0.196% invalids but most of that is coming from my 2 Avalon A721's which are at 0.796% for some reason.  It never seems to hurt anything so I just keep on mining! Grin
Funny my 721 is way higher too, at 0.733%, almost five times as high as any of my other miners.

Pardon me if this might be construed as "off-topic", but it is about my miners on Kano pool.  Cheesy

Between my one S7(F1) and my four S9's, I have an error rate of 0.153%. Most all of that error rate is because of stales when I look deeper. Is there anything I can do on my end to decrease "stales"? Is it possibly a network issue? Would restarting my cable modem and router be of any help?

Or am I making a mountain out of a mole hill??  Tongue

Currently, there are four lap tops connected via wireless in my house. Two of the laptops are doing nothing. One laptop has Core running on it. And the final laptop is my main/everyday use laptop. It's the one I'm typing on here.
The Internet here is cable with 10GB up and 60GB down, I doubt I'm using a fraction of that between my laptops a four S9's a one S7.

Any comments or suggestions welcome! Thank you.  Cheesy

That would totally depend on the cost of your power. Anything greater than .05 cents/kwh would make it impossible to ROI.

Go to this mining calculator https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator and plug in your costs to find out.

Kano, have you ever considered putting your own Bitcoin proposal together for a future plan that we can all live with? I like the 2 minute block idea you had, combine that with a 2mb blocksize and I think that would sustain bitcoin into the foreseeable future. I know it's a lot of work, but I think it's something that would be a far better alternative to the proposals out there and one that a lot of people would get behind.
