101  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Real reasons to Why do you gamble? on: January 21, 2020, 05:27:45 PM
Exceptions might exist. There is a possibility that if a gambler is offered a specified amount of money then he would think about quitting gambling.

The possibility or chances of them quitting gambling right after someone offered a specific amount of money is 1/10, they are just going to stop for a while and think about if they really should stop or not, guess what, the urge of continuing playing gambling will be always stronger than the will of quitting it, that's the sad truth about them.

Because in my opinion gambling is itself a very tiresome and stressful activity.

For you maybe, but it will never be that way to those who treat it as a way of earning money and for entertainment, gambling will be always about risk and fun for them.
102  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lottery In Your Place on: January 21, 2020, 03:13:35 PM
What a waste of time, police is for crime not personal choices.   The government could be taxing the lottery while helping to ensure its run properly, instead they are wasting the countrys money chasing their own tails for no possible benefit.   Double negative, this is what makes a country poor because people will gamble on something or other anyway.   How would they view marbles for money  Grin

Even a simple crime like stealing is not assured by the police, much more if it was gambling. Not to mention if it really is banned in a certain country, I bet (no pun intended) there are a lot of corrupt officials that let these underground casinos operate--they bribe them in exchange for protection. It is indeed a waste of money, not a very wise decision. A bit unrelated but in the US, they even legalized weed, I don't have any "statistical" information to present but we know pretty well how it could affect the country--economic-wise that is.

I think you misunderstood what @STT has said, he didn't mean those police bribing gambling games to protect them in exchange, though there are something like but only for illegal gambling, just like what you have said, but @STT were trying to say is that the Government gives permit to certain gambling games like lottery and casinos, that is why police are in charge just in case if there will be crimes about gambling, since policemen are under of the Government's hands.

Quote
As I see it now, the point of gambling (as in gambling per se and not some kind of an odd or even regular job) is in fact to give you some stress at first, and then provide an experience of relief from that stress. If you win, then you will feel that relief. If you lose, it again depends on your overall attitude as the loss could actually bring you even more stress. And then you start chasing losses and get into the stress spiral

In short, it's a roller coaster ride. Hmm. Not bad I think. Personally I wouldn't really enjoy something like this. But hey it's just me, to each their own

That's because you are likely not bored to death in life (pardon the pun)

But when you are, and don't know how to spend your time, gambling becomes an appealing option. And personally, I don't consider it any worse than any other option out there as long as you keep it that way, as a small roller coaster to spice up your dull and uninteresting life. In fact, it works just wonders

But unlike so many other options, the problem with gambling is that it is highly addictive, and most people learn it the hard way, after losing something which they didn't expect and didn't plan to lose

I'm a person that easily get bored on whatever I'm doing, except when I'm doing something that satisfies me like photography and photo editing, but whenever I have a free time way back then, I always play gambling in BetKong, I don't know if it still legit to play there cause it's been a while since I gamble, but yeah, you're right that it becomes an option when you're really empty headed and don't know what to do to kill your free time.

The only difference is that when to took it seriously, your working hours would become your free time when got addicted to it, especially gambling games that have their own twist.
104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Daily Living on: January 20, 2020, 05:42:32 PM
Unfortunately, volatility is still a feature of these currencies, therefore it attracts speculators and those who believe in their long-term value more than ordinary traders.

Volatility is something that need to be addressed if we want to have a living on bitcoin. Within days bitcoin can have a jump of over 1000 USD. If we dont have stable BTC price we will continue to have BTC that will be only an asset of storage.
How do you control or address volatility? Kill all the whales and confiscate their hodlings? Of course, that isn't going to happen. Besides, volatility is what makes Bitcoin popular and what it is. Some of us need that volatility to excite trades. Without it the market seemingly stays down.

Well we can't really do such thing like that, we have no power totally over the volatility of crypto currency have. The most funny part is that many people are complaining about it, but the truth is, it is a blessing in disguise for those who knows what cryptocurrency really is, by saying that, people are having a hard time making profits because of they misunderstood how cryptocurrency works.
105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What bitcoin ideas do you have? Share it! on: January 20, 2020, 02:33:11 PM
About 2 days ago, I made a thread encouraging us all to "Promote bitcoin....... It is for "us". I actually do my best to promote the platform and even about 10 mins ago, I helped someone sign up here on the BTT forum (I'll be tutoring him too).

However, on the thread I made lately, someone made a comment that inspired me more. Actually, I've always aspired to promote bitcoin in a bigger way (irrespective of the unavailable funds); by offering some services the average citizen of any country needs and requiring bitcoin as a means of payment. Or making people offer services and get paid in bitcoin.
Anything else is cool. I just want to hear your opinion. Someone else will need it too.

Most times we have these ideas deep down in us but we tend to hold it but we forget that speaking up is also a way of promoting bitcoin.
Let's all speak up!

Correct me if I am wrong but the main idea you have sounds like Fiverr or any gigs site for that matter. And personally, I have been thinking of the same because if we can have a platform where people can be earning Bitcoin in exchange for doing something (tasks) online then we can definitely spread the good news of this cryptocurrency and we can jumpstart the Bitcoin economy for the better. We actually need this one and the idea had been taken already by some projects before but sad to say not one of them succeeded and I think almost all of them are now dead. I really don't know why but maybe because of the problem of demand.

Correct me if I'm wrong but what you have said is the opposite of fiverr, fiverr runs services by professionals and people pay for that services, and what you have said is a platform that pays people if they completed a certain tasks, in short, the people (customers) are the one performing the job instead of the platform. On the other part or this discussion, if an actual platform do(will) really exist, only few satoshis would be given to people I think depends on how hard a certain taks they will complete.
106  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sending Bitcoin over Bluetooth? on: January 20, 2020, 01:38:55 PM
In the new age we are into right now is all about having fast things, fast cars, fast bikes, fast, computers, fast internet connection, and so many more to mention. I guess it is possible that way but using Bluetooth is too old fashioned, also the distance of pairing two devices is very limited compare if you're going to use Wi-Fi.

However, the risk by using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, especially when it's public, is very high, it could always be penetrated by hackers, anytime.
107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bought this stuff with Bitcoin, great way for people to become aware of Bitcoin on: January 19, 2020, 02:13:21 PM
Your idea is good but I think it is only beneficial for people who have no idea about Bitcoin.

Wait, what???

How come it is beneficial if they don't know about how bitcoin works, don't you think that it is so unfortunate for them, because clearly, they are wasting their profits without them knowing, we should feel bad for them. It will only become beneficial for them if they will do it the opposite way of what they do, instead of spending it to random things, like foods, they will save it and wait 'till they could sell it in a high price then cash it out, and then buy whatever they want.
108  Economy / Economics / Re: Do Not Blame Bitcoin, No Government Want To Make Its Citizen Millionaire on: January 19, 2020, 01:01:03 PM
When dollars and other currencies are free to be printed and their value will not be reduced even if they are printed a lot more, then which ant is enforcing and stopping the governments to force their employees to work in a low budget?
Most likely you don't have enough knowledge about economy. A country is free to print lots of money, but have you thought what will happen after that? There is some rules regulation with central bank how much money they should print to keep stable their economy system. They decide it based on so many things especially GDP (Gross Domestic Product). For example you are getting now $10 per hour for your job and you are paying your children's school fee $25 monthly. Imagine if government print more money and they give you $100 per hours then you have to pay your children's school fee $250 monthly. Am I right? Because salary will be increased for all citizens, not only for you. For example you have take a bag of money when you are going to shopping Korea. So what's benefit by printing lots of money? You should read an article Printing Money – Can a Country print Money and get Rich?.

If these governments want to make their people rich, they could increase their wages to upto 10 times, around $100/per hour. When wages will be high, more amount of money could be invested in Crypto.
I will refer again above, it will happen same for crypto-currency as well. If bitcoin price 10000 now on your local country when your wages is 10$ per hours. So it will be 100000 in your local country when your salary will be increased to $100, because I told you before if this happen government will increased wage for all over citizens. So this idea couldn't work.

It is funny how people think that printing a lot more money will solve the problem about being rich and to make the economy growth, they didn't even know the monetary policy that which the Government will decide how much money should be printed, and according to the article that you referred, it will cause inflation which is the opposite of what we wanted for our country, because that will just make things worst for all of us.

And for OP's title, that no Government wants to make its citizen millionaire, is a line which is already been used so many times by toxic citizens that put all the blame to the Government even the are the ones who should be blame for being misfortune, because they are lazy to find a job and raise their families.
109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No one ever sells, nor buys anything in BitCoin.. Think this is wrong, read on! on: January 19, 2020, 10:16:09 AM
We have the same mindset, but people think that if they spend bitcoin in a store that accepts it, it will help the bitcoin adaptation (how I wish) maybe a little, like 0.00001 percent, like the percentage of you winning when you play in the lottery. It is like over spending on to something that is cheap, or will be cheap when the time comes that bitcoin's price will take a come back.

Just like what you have said, if you guys bought something at 1 bitcoin, for example a small house or apartment in a third world country, then after a year or two, it will make you regret the fact that you spent 1 bitcoin on it, I mean I would rather use fiat because it is not heartbreaking since it is not volatile like bitcoin.

Why it appear moved and not sent?

and also the betting site where i deposited say the coins has arrived???

https://imgur.com/a/QZlt3T6

the thing is that the bitcoins i have send to that adress i dont think they are stolen but the address of the betting site that i sent was a little strange, it was beginning with bc1qa................................................

I was using the bitcoin.com mobile app as wallet.

Anyone any advice?

It was moved and already consider as sent because you sent it to a Segwit bitcoin address, you don't have to worry about this since you could send bitcoin from a non segwit bitcoin wallet to a segwit bitcoin address and vice versa, you're safe. Smiley

112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Much Money You Need To Win To Stop gambling, Is This Possible. on: January 18, 2020, 05:00:17 PM
No one will ever stop their gambling activity if they are keep making more and more money.

Money is the only thing which never satisfy a human no matter how much they have got, even after they got money which can't be spend in their entire life time won't stop them from making money.

So having a money limit to stop gambling won't work.
Honestly , it is very hard to stop, since we all know that when you already creating a money no matter how you do that will be very addictive, you will never stop playing and gambling because you felt the joy and emotion  , and you will think that when you play it will satisfies you, the thing you need is moderation and control in yourself so that you will not be addicted.

That's right, as long you can control your emotions you don't need to stop, ever, even after winning a really big amount. For many people(and definitely for me in particular) gambling is not a way of making money. It can help to make money in other fields, providing you with relaxation, but it's not a money making tool in itself. If I found an ancient golden coin worth tens of thousands dollars while snorkeling, would I stop that activity? No. And the same goes for gambling.

It is not about controlling your emotions, it is about the feeling within whenever you win in gambling, the more money, the more happy you would be, and that is what drives us more crazy about gambling, that feeling would never make you tired, you will long for it everyday and that is when we take ourselves in addiction, it could be either or bad, it is good when you are winning everyday and bad when you lost everyday but still you keep coming back to play.

When it comes to number, humans would never be satisfied, because we like to accept things in our lives as long as we need---want it.
113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone here dream of achieving their financial goal in life through gambling? on: January 18, 2020, 04:29:27 PM
It would be unwise to fix a financial goal through gambling. A game of chance has a luck factor. It is not a daily earning method but a risky one where losing more than what you earn is always possible. One can win a jackpot but the amount of losses they would have to endure before winning it would be giving them a net loss.

This hidden desire to become rich is what destroys people while gambling. You would not be rich by gambling, only the casinos owners and their investors, affiliates will become rich. Those few big winners that you see are one in a million. Chase after that and you are sure to end up nowhere.

I agree, you have to build more ways when it comes on earning money, it is not bad to take risk in playing gambling but it is bad when you exert all of your funds on it, putting all the eggs in one basket will never be a good idea. It is like having many plans, Plan A, Plan B, and so on, if plan A didn't work, then proceed to Plan B, don't stop until you find the right plan that will help you to build a lot of gold in your pocket.
114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can we overcome our gambling addiction! on: January 18, 2020, 03:49:42 PM
Application, willingness and will power is a must if someone wants to overcome gambling addiction.

Easy to say isn't it but if there's no application and there's no action being done, forget about the goal of overcoming the addiction. You actually don't have to quit, you just have to minimize and reduce the exerted time.

If you will only reduce the exerted time you put when playing in gambling, then how could you say you overcome your addiction, this will only become "minimizing your addiction", if I'm not mistaken, and then what, after a while, you're going to berserk again in gambling when addiction kicks in because your body misses the feeling of it. Minimizing will not be able to help you to overcome your addiction, just quit it completely by distracting yourself whenever you have the urge in playing gambling again.

Crypto is my favorite for paying for services such as buying mobile data and airtime. It is very easy to use and with it you have no fear as you can use it anytime you want. Just like Fiat

You could use it like fiat but they are not the same, using crypto instead of fiat if you could use fiat on buying mobile data and airtime is a waste of profit in my opinion, yes it could help to promote and raise awareness to others that cryptocurrency exist because most of the population doesn't know about it, all they know is fiat. But, if you are comfortable with it, I guess I can't make you stop doing it for your profits, your cryptocurrency, your choice.

117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's in the game, after all? on: January 17, 2020, 05:14:13 PM
To be explicit and begin with, by gambling I mean playing only the games of chance (think dice here), i.e. games where your skill doesn't matter, where the outcome is determined by luck alone
(......)
For me, in gambling, it's not totally luck alone.
It also comes with your emotion doing in gambling, like in trading, has risk management.
What is exactly meant and understood by this "personal enjoyment" generic category?
Yeah, quite confusing this but for sure, it's totally something self pleasure when doing gambling, more entertaining our ownselfs

Self satisfaction is sometimes the reason why people gambled. They can feel the joy and contentment when they play, it is somehow a challenge for them too it makes them to think wisely and make some good analysis

Is it? too much sarcasm on that.

I mean, on the other side of this gambling opinion we each have, I think it don't help them to "think wisely and some good analysis" as you were saying, because if it really is, then why in the first place they are playing in gambling, if they good at it, then why they can't analyze the fact that gambling was not a game where you could earn money just by your optimism that you could pull some trick and surprise, you win, NO, it is not.
118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone here dream of achieving their financial goal in life through gambling? on: January 17, 2020, 03:58:53 PM
Just like the majority of the earth's population that wants their lives to be wealthy and stress free, I also like to end the struggle I'm having financially, where I could buy anything without looking at the price tag and just live like a king, though working hardsmart is the key for that. I didn't think about gambling would solve my problem about that, so I never included in my choices about taking big risk in gambling in order to find out if it is the best way to earn huge money and not work anymore.

Because it could be your worst nightmare, instead of just struggling, you might end up struggling even more at streets being homeless.
119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can we overcome our gambling addiction! on: January 17, 2020, 03:00:37 PM
I could say I was also a gambling addict, from using money from my work salary, borrowing money, I also had to sell some gadgets, laptops, and other stuff. But now I can overcome that by controlling my emotions and no longer borrowing money and selling things to play gambling. Also, reduce my gambling activities.

A progress is still a progress, I salute you for lessening your addiction in gambling, you might overcome it totally if you will continue to dedicate yourself in quitting gambling, instead of still playing gambling, though you reduce your activities on it, as you said, try something that is not like gambling at all, because there is still a chance that your addiction would come back at you running fast if you build up too much confidence in gambling by winning big on it.

Why not try to travel with your friends, family, or even yourself, go out of town and disconnect to the gambling world for a bit, maybe you'll realized something.
