When you boot up your system for the first time, the GPU will be displayed as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. This will indicate that the system has recognized the GPU plugged in the system and after you install the dedicated driver for that GPU, It'll display as RX 580 in Device Manager.
Thank you. One related question: Should I plug in both GPUs (currently I have two) and install the driver or install one-by-one i.e. plugging in first install driver and then plugging in second and install driver? Secondly, do I have to install the driver from executing the .exe file or from the Device Manager individually by right clicking on the device entry? For two cards, there is no difference (except for time) that you put in the card system together or separately. Nuances can be used when installing 4+ cards. On the drivers: if it is exclusively mining then it's easier to install the driver from the *.inf file. In this case, no additional software will be installed (Control Center, HDMI audio). If for a full-fledged work, it's better to install from the *.exe file. I got only the .exe file from this link: http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-Edition-Beta-for-Blockchain-Compute-Release-Notes.aspx

Hi,
Quick question:
Would Sapphire RX 580 would show in Device Manager > Display adapter if I plug in GPU and riser and power on the machine (for the first time) OR would it show Microsoft Basic Display Adapter?
Do I need to install the driver (I would install Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition Beta for Blockchain Compute driver) so that its shown in the Device Manager?
Looking forward and thanking you in anticipation.

Rizwan

Hi,
Need assistance:
I have AsRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0, RX 580, and Windows 10 Pro.
1) In BIOS Advanced > Chipset Configuration > Primary Graphics Adapter: I set it Enabled (I was not having display when it was disabled).
2) I removed power of all (right now I have two of them) RX 580s.
3) I powered one GPU.
4) I powered riser (I have one cable powering two GPUs).
5) I started the rig and went into the Device Manager.
6) In Display adapter it showing Microsoft Basic Display Adapter (first entry) and Microsoft Basic Display Adapter (second entry) with a yellow mark
Notes: a) I have not installed Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition Beta for Blockchain Compute driver as yet. b) The fans of GPU (that has been powered) is spinning c) The light on second GPU (that is not powered) is ON because riser has been powered d) My risers are connected on PCIe 1x slots on the motherboard
Seems Windows 10 has not detected my GPU.
Do I need to install Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition Beta for Blockchain Compute driver so GPU could be detected?
Looking forward for the solution and thanking you in anticipation.

Rizwan

Hi,
A basic question:
I have 2x RX 580. I intend to use Radeon Crimson ReLive for Blockchain Compute driver.
Do I need to install one card and install the driver and repeat for all cards OR install all cards and then install Blockchain Compute driver once for all cards?
Looking forward and thanking you in anticipation.

Hi,
I have RX 580 on AsRock H81. What are your views on using Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition Beta for Blockchain Compute driver instead of standard one.
I wish to mine Ethereum along with other cryptocurrencies.
Your expert and experienced opinion would be really beneficial for me.

Hi,
What antivirus are you using for Windows 10? Or using antivirus is not recommended?
Thanking you in anticipation.

using usb to boot from is a shitty idea, use the ssd. rig will boot best on that. not to mention usb sticks were never ment to be treated as a hard drive and be used 24/7, eventually it will just die. seen people talk about it enough
Hi I need to boot from USB in order to install an OS on SSD.....

Hi, Managed to setup rig and powered on with no blast or smell BIG THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND HELP!!! In BIOS (UEFI Setup), as per Main, I have AsRock H81 Pro BTC R2.0 P1.20 board. On Boot there is only SSD entry ( AHCI P1: SAMSUNG....) but no options for USB. Note:
In Advanced > USB Configuration, Legacy USB Support and Legacy USB 3.0 Support are already EnabledIn Boot > CSM (Compatibility Support Modules) > CSM is already EnabledIn Security > Secure Boot is already DisabledIs there any issue with the board or am I missing something? Or do I need to update the BIOS from Tools > Easy Driver Installer option? Looking forward and thanking you in anticipation. Regards, Rizwan

The risk is directly proportional to the coefficient of the organic matter in control of the rig.
Your comments are motivational for me. I am building rig from zero experience in assembling/hardware

Any specific experiences with RX 580 8 GB and 6-pin riser on single cable?

Hi,
Did you ever experience fire/smoke issue with RX 580 8GB and 6-pin riser on the same cable? Please share your pros and cons.

1709 fked my H81 rigs up running nvidia cards. Almost impossible to get more then two gpu:s deteckted.
The reason why i wanted to go 1709 was to be able to get full hash in ETH.
I had to reinstall my older version to get all cards detected again. Just a heads up.
Thanks. So which version/update of Win10 do you suggest?

Actually I am looking for build 1703. Read in post here that H81 might give GPU detection issue for more that 2 GPUs in Win10 non-1703 update. Also read in Reddit post that Win10 FC is stable. I am trying to get 1703 but couldn't get 1703. If you know 1703 installation link then please let me know. Thanks http://bfy.tw/FYwJDo you need someone to wipe your ass for you too? How the hell do you make it through the day? Your comments have been reported to the Admin. Try to maintain decency.
