1001  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [340 GH/s] ABCPool.co 0% fee PPS - join now & get best payouts out there! on: December 09, 2011, 01:00:51 PM
That's unfortunate. Since all of these transactions have appeared in a block already, they should appear in your Bitcoin client eventually too.

You may troubleshoot to speed things up: Check that your client has more than '0 connections', and that the number of blocks reported is at least 156765 (the current block). Furthermore, verify that the addresses that the payments were made to are actually yours, and that the payouts occur in your payments overview at ABCPool.

I looked the transactions up in our logs for you; The last four payments are successful manual payouts associated with one user account; The first transaction you mention is not from ABCPool. It's not in our audit logs, not in our bitcoin transaction list and most compelling of all, the from-address is not ours.

... For larger miners (over 10Gh), getting a 5 btc payout twice a day does not work out at my pool balance would just keep rising. ...
... There are only two payouts per day, so set the threshold to 0.2. You will get the highest multiple of 0.2 as the payout. ...
Fred0 describes it well.

I've also just changed the wording on the account page to make it clearer how auto-payout is done.
1003  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [340 GH/s] ABCPool.co 0% fee PPS - join now & get best payouts out there! on: December 08, 2011, 10:08:18 PM
One simply question. I lock my payment address, but my automatic payment thresold is locked too. Is it normal???

Thanks.
Hi Mineriapepe,

Locking the payment address is recommended, so kudos for securing your account! Smiley

However, we don't have a function to lock the auto-payout threshold. There are a few restrictions to the threshold:
* The amount must be higher than 0.2 BTC. If you enter a lower number it will be changed to 0 (0=disable auto payout)
* The amount must be lower than 5 BTC. If you enter a higher number it will be changed to 5.
* You must enter your PIN. If you don't enter the PIN the changes won't be saved.

What is the amount you are trying to set it to? What is the message that is returned at the top of the page when you try?

MC you have a PM from me about suggested solution and my real ABCPool user. Thanks a lot.
Seen it, thanks for responding!

Workin like a dream again, thanks!
Earlier today there were some network issues that lasted about 30 minutes. Please check if your miners have reconnected to the pool.

Hi!

I tryed that but i still get the following error :/

In our logs I can see that you're successfully mining with cgminer now; what turned out to be the magic command to get it done?
1007  Bitcoin / Pools / Merged mining is no silver bullet on: December 04, 2011, 11:49:50 PM
Merged mining clarification: ABCPool.co still highest paying PPS pool
People seem to be focused a lot on merged mining rewards these days. We'd like to point out that Merged Mining is not a silver bullet that will double your income overnight.

Merged Mining currently earns about 2.7% extra when compared to traditional BTC mining. That number can be derived from the current difficulty ratio's, exchange rate, conversion costs and stale rates. Last week it was 4%. The NMC bonus was much higher at first (>120%!), but has steadily dropped without signs of stopping.

Consider this: Because of our 0% fee, ABCPool is currently the highest paying PPS pool out there at the moment, even though we do not pay rewards for merged mining!

BTCguild gives you the 2.7% NMC bonus, but then takes away 5% in fees. That adds up to ~2.3% fee, worse than ABCPool's 0%. There are other PPS pools, but they charge even more.

Other pools offer 0% Merged Mining, but keep in mind that they have high variance as they are *not* PPS pools. At ABCPool you will earn the same amount each and every day, until there's a difficulty change or you stop mining.

NB: ABCPool may offer MM rewards at some point in the future, possibly in combination with a higher fee.

Happy mining everyone!

Welcome to ABCPool Rizzler!

You'll need to add http:// to the URL. Give it a try like this:

1009  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1014 GH/s 0% fee SMPPS] ArsBitcoin mining pool! Come join us! on: December 04, 2011, 10:37:04 PM
Props to BT for running ArsBitcoin as well as he did. It's not always easy running a pool, that's for sure! I wouldn't be surprised if he turns up again to make a clean exit; he mentioned he had some personal stuff to deal with and is probably not able to monitor Ars 24/7. We'll see.

In the meantime, for those looking to relocate their hashpower with ArsBitcoin-like payouts, give ABCPool.co a try! Pure PPS and low invalids at 0% fee. www.abcpool.co

I missed the predictability, even if it's not a maximization versus some other methods.

I'm back in your warm embrace.

I said, I'm back... yeah. That's right. Embrace me.

Embrace me tightly. Don't mind that tightness. Just go with it.
LOL Smiley
I almost fell off my chair reading this..

But hey, welcome back!

We've recompressed some rediculously bulky images on the site earlier this week. People using a mobile connection to check their stats should notice that ABCPool.co loads much faster now!

FYI

"payout history" field of the JSON API not being updated.
Hi Fred0,

Can you clarify what you mean by not being updated? I looked at your account, and the payments reported by bitcoind and those registered in our database are exactly the same. The total amount is equal to the amount reported on in the stats section, and also equal to what the API reports when I plug in your key. There might be a caching delay of a few minutes sometimes; maybe that's what your seeing?
All the numbers for the account are fine...simply, the lifetime numbers("payout_history") are stuck when using the JSON API call.

Here is a screenshot of what I am seeing. Maybe the field name changed, idk.  Everything is reported correctly on the website.

Hope this helps.
Ah, now I understand what you mean! I think you may be confused about the meaning of the payout_history field. That is understandable, since there's no explanation of it anywhere. So what does it mean?

The payout_history field contains the total amount of all payouts done to you. It increases only after a payment is made, either manual or automatic payout. It is therefore normal behavior that payout_history is the same number for a long time. Want to see for yourself? Then try calling the API, the do a payout, and then call the API again. payout_history should have increased with the exact amount of the payout.

If you have any further questions please let us know,

MC

Do you offer merged mining?
Hi Element51,

The extra income from merged mining has been around ~5.0% lately, as can be calculated from difficulty levels and exchange rates. We do not offer merged mining rewards. We do have 0% fees, making our payout level about the same as BTCGuild. An extra advantage of mining at ABCPool is that you do not have to worry about managing an NMC wallet and exchanging the NMC for BTC: All your payouts are conveniently in BTC.

Thanks for your interest!

And.. payouts are up again too! To make the process of restoring from a bitcoind crash a bit faster in the future, we'll be creating some scripts that make nightly blockchain backups.
EDIT: Improving the pool bit by bit: Backups of the blockchain are being made now Smiley
1016  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [301 GH/s] ABCPool.co - 0% fee PPS & 0.1% invalid shares! on: November 11, 2011, 11:21:31 PM
Hi, another update on the load issues: the primary bitcoind went down, which caused the initial issues. We then took it out of the loop to restart it. Sadly, it needs to reload and reverify the blockchain. That takes a lot of time and calculations, which is why the load is still higher than normal. During this time your miner may idle for short periods of time. It's hard to say how long reloading the blockchain will take exactly, but it will at least be several hours. During that time payments will be unavailable, but mining can continue as usual.

When the blockchain has been reconstituted, the bitcoind will start accepting payment requests again. While stats are already operational again, some shares have not been added to your balance yet. We're now working on adding them manually.

Thanks for your patience while we resolve this!

We're experiencing high load at the moment, so your miners might be idling now and then.
EDIT: Resolved; lasted about 10 minutes.
1018  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [301 GH/s] ABCPool.co - 0% fee PPS & 0.1% invalid shares! on: November 11, 2011, 12:27:03 AM
Looks like the pool went down after i started bringing my hash over. Sorry if i crashed the pool.  Grin
It's always a good stress-test for a pool when you come around Smiley

Regarding the instability when you joined: The limit for the number of open filedescriptors for the pool backend was still in its restrictive default. That number also governs maximum TCP connection count.

We were already seeing some strange log readings, but you coming to knock on our door made us really hit the limit, and that's probably where it went wrong.

We've increased the limit to a more sensible value (60000) a few hours ago, and all indicators are back to normal.

Could you try again?

1019  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [301 GH/s] ABCPool.co - 0% fee PPS - Payouts resumed! on: November 09, 2011, 08:08:48 PM
Any plans for a stats signature? I wouldn't mind changing mine Smiley
btcstats.net
USERBARS: Twmz, owner of btcstats.net, was nice enough to create a userbar for ABCPool.co. Using your API key and BTCStats.net you can show off your hashrate! They look pretty cool:

Thanks Twmz!

Caveat Emptor: I'm not sure if it is still possible to put these userbars in your signature at bitcointalk.org, since they seem to have disabled sig-images for new signatures. Sad

1020  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [301 GH/s] ABCPool.co - 0% fee PPS - Payouts resumed! on: November 07, 2011, 02:29:50 PM
Initially this went on unnoticed, but then Thursday two users notified us of suspicious payments in short succession.

I actually noticed it much sooner. Not having the payout history is a security flaw in itself and prolonged the attack. I noticed immediately that something was wrong early October 29th, but either thought the pool was down, the shares were not being calculated correctly, or my balance somehow got payed out automatically to my wallet (I didn't check, I was busy). I never even considered someone else was draining the account. But, with no way check where the funds went, I didn't say anything, and the attacker got five more days to steal people's bitcoins until November 3rd. I highly suggest keeping payout history for everyone, allowing quicker discovery of a hack.

On the bright side, hashing rate has returned back to normal. I still think this pool is the best around, and it's only a matter of time before it'll be in the top 3 (BTCguild and especially deepbit are hard to shake).
As an experiment we decided to ask for a donation to use the features added over the past month, to see how that would affect donation rates. Payment history is now freely available again. You're right to say that security is increased by being able to check payment history. It's a good argument to keep at least some form of history available for free.

I think we might be able to come up with a compromise that does not give all info right away, but enough to notice that something is wrong. Like listing only the addresses and their period of use for all your payouts.

Until we have figured out how to do that without it impacting security, we'll leave access to the payout history unrestricted.
