1001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What was your biggest cryptocurrency return? on: July 22, 2017, 07:29:09 AM
Have you ever spent $1 on cryptocurrency and got $1000 in return or something similar?
I have got a nice return which is similar to that at ethereum. When it was still in it's early stages, I bought some ethereum when it was still l around less than 1$ in price. Looking at it at the time that I sold it, the price was 0.143 BTC and I'm glad I sold it at that time. I held it for a year or two though. I'm lucky I didn't lost it while I was waiting for the right moment to sell.
1002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why doge still a thing on: July 22, 2017, 02:56:32 AM
What does DOGE coin means to you ? Why it's still being traded with no development ?)

To be exact, doge is still trading even if it has no development because many people are still using it even if it was created with an intention of it being a joke. Also, it is one of the most popular coin to use in gambling and as well as others, because there are some platforms that still accepts doge ad payment. Also, even if there is no development in doge at all, it still has it's community going strong.
1003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WAVES on: July 22, 2017, 01:31:59 AM
Maybe there will be a competition between waves and ethereum. Ethereum would be supported by Russia, waves would be supported by US.
Good theory, isnt it? Smiley
Who is the developer of waves by the way?
The developer of waves is Sasha Ivanov. If you want to know more, search about it. Your theory is good, since sometimes I think that waves is better than ETH, since it has built in token exchange in it's wallet. It is also a lot more convenient to use sometimes when it comes to token tranfers, and a more convenient way to store tokens because you won't need to add custom token when the token you will receive is new.
1004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Happy Dumping Weekend :) on: July 21, 2017, 11:08:34 PM
Hello,

The weekend is here again. How much will the market dump this weekend? Im saying 15% drop minimum across the board...
Happy weeked to you OP, Like you im also hoping for a dump this weekend, because I want to rebuy again and i have made a good sum of profit in the last dump a few days ago. Im guessing that bitcoin would not dump this weekend but I expect one crazy dump later on next weekend before August 1 because uncertainty on crypto market and btc hardfork is still there.
1005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: newbie spec. short portfolio on: July 21, 2017, 10:01:49 PM
I have created short portfolio with leverage 1:1 as below.
Expexting to hold till end of this month, maybe longer:
20% ETH short; 20% DASH short; 20% LITECOIN short; 20% RIPPLE short; 20% MONERO short;
Hedge thru BTC;
Considering current volatility it's applied leverage is 1:1;
It is a really bad idea to short now on the altcoins you have chosen above, since some are not that volatile right now and if they were, it would only be up just a little and diown again, it will not be a good thing to short it that way. I guess you should hold it for weeks more or months before selling it, and sell it only when you have a good sum of profit already.
1006  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Litecoin (LTC) dominate Bitcoin(BTC) on: July 21, 2017, 12:39:19 PM
Litecoin was announced in 2011 with the goal of being the 'silver' to bitcoin's 'gold'. At the time of writing, Litecoin  has the highest market cap of any mined cryptocurrency, after bitcoin.

The main difference is that litecoin can confirm transactions must faster than bitcoin. The implications of that are as follows:

  • Litecoin can handle a higher volume of transactions thanks to its faster block generation. If bitcoin were to try to match this, it would require significant updates to the code that everyone on the bitcoin network is currently running.
The disadvantage of this higher volume of blocks is that the litecoin blockchain will be proportionately larger than bitcoin's, with more orphaned blocks.
  • The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks – this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.
  • A merchant who waited for a minimum of two confirmations would only need to wait five minutes, whereas they would have to wait 10 minutes for just one confirmation with bitcoin.
[/list]
Ltc would never overtake bitcoin in terms of it's usage. It wouldn't be able to because litecoin is created to be a silver in cryptocurrency in the first place with bitcoin as gold at the time it was created. Also, even if litecoin is faster to use in sending money, it would still dominate unless all bitcoin users decided to use litecoin as main cryptocurrency to be usef instead of bitcoin. The chance of it happening for now is very low.
1007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Invested everything in Crypto on: July 21, 2017, 11:09:57 AM
I have invested all my money in Cryptocurrency which is about 20k because I think the reward outweighs risk. I am going to hold for a long time. 🤑
You made a good decision OP but I hope you have left some money for yourself to spend to buy the things you need for daily living. I wish you luck and I hope you profit big in the investment you made. Just a word of advice, sell when you see a good sum of profit because market is very unpredictable, you might regret it if you hold it for too long. It applies not only to bitcoin or top coins, but it applies to any cryptocurrencies out there.
1008  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: A reversal effect on BTC and ETH. on: July 21, 2017, 10:13:27 AM
Will ETH rise when BTC fall before this incoming August 1, what is your prediction for this guys?
I think ETH won't rise when btc really falls before the incoming august 1, since it's movements are also like btc chart and is just an asset bought for investment purposes only, without real use unlike btc. Also, if people were going to hedge funds in the firsy place, I think many would rather hedge in form of fiat rather than hedging in eth. For now I'll say that there is a slight chance that btc will fall that hard before august 1 and maybe also after it.
1009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DAO 2.0 - Ethereum Hacked! on: July 20, 2017, 01:01:27 PM
The name of the thread is clickbait  Cheesy
Ethereum wasn't hacked, it's all about parity wallet
Even if that's the case, more drama and fud will spread because fudders will take this opportunity to try to push ETH prices to lowest possible one. Like OP, I expect that the bearish movement will continue, tanking down probably to below 100$ but there's a possibility that it might not reach sub 50$ as OP said. That being said, it might still recover so I take this as a good opportunity to buy a little of ETH again.
1010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Eth buy or wait? on: July 20, 2017, 12:10:52 PM
Hello,

I bought some eth a while ago and took my profit when it was ath.
I was thinking about buying again when it tanked that low (relative).
But now its back to 250...
I couldn't buy when it was 140.. because my fund were 'locked' in other coins which I dint want to sell (with losses).

I deposited more fiat to Kraken...
Buy now or will it tan again?

Kind regards

If I were you I will wait a little more before buying ethereum now, because it still has a lot of potential to be bearish again in the next coming weeks because of the current hack that have happened. The chance of it being bullish in the next coming weeks is very low, so wait a little more and buy at a price between 70$-130$ if possible there is a probability of price tanking to those price ranges so wait for that.
1011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IOTA and GBYTE on: July 20, 2017, 10:49:52 AM
I am planing to put in some investment into either one. Can someone give some advice? Smiley
For me both coins you are trying to invest into is good and has a lot of potential to grow more in the future but I think IOTA has a better potential to grow in the future. If I were you, I would put investment on both coins dividing it into 50% each of the coins you said. That way you won't have to worry which one you would invest more money into.
1012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ethereum $110 million hack; Will we see another rollback and ETC.2? on: July 20, 2017, 10:03:09 AM
I hope they do fork, if they do I will buy the pre-fork dip and enjoy having the ETH + ETC2 afterwards!
It doesn't sound like it is ETHs problem though, they can't hardfork everythime anyone using their system makes a mistake.

Also $35mil is a drop in the ocean now, the DAO was everything for ETH back then, this isn't.  I still feel for those who were robbed though.
Too bad for those who were robbed, Is there a chance that they will still get their money back? Either way there will be a rollback in price for sure that is incoming , and this one dump might make eth fall back to it's original price. For now, A hardfork might be a good solution but they must make sure that this kind of thing will never happen again.
1013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How market will behave during this (21-23 July 17) weekend ? on: July 20, 2017, 08:56:42 AM
Market have been fluctuating quite a lot recently. Past few weekends were all red and btc has recovered from a massive dip. So how do you guys think market will behave this weekend ? Will the old pattern of weekend bloodbath will continue ? or fomo will kick in and we will see a massive gain this weekend ?
I guess it'll go green.
I guess bitcoin price will or might fluctuate down again this weekend. There is a big possibility of this happening, unless there will be news by tomorrow that might affect bitcoin price movement. For now ill say that there is a low chance that fomo will kick in for us to see a massive gain this weekend, but let's hope there will be one.
1014  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Dogecoin? on: July 19, 2017, 08:57:07 PM
Which is more profitable and most preffered by the many?
For me bitcoin is still better than doge. It is also preferred by many people than doge because people see doge as a joke. Also, doge still survives the market, after all it can be used in gambling and some are accepting it as payment method so it might still rise a little in price. That being said, bitcoin tech is still better than doge in many ways and bitcoin is still the safer one to invest into.
1015  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which 'solid' altcoin took the worst hit? on: July 19, 2017, 02:01:57 PM
Hey Team,

I'm looking into investing into some alt coins which took big hits in the crash, but havent recovered as well as some of the top alt coins. I was looking into investing into stratis while it was hovering around 3, but missed my opportunity. Any other coins you guys see that are down 3x or so?
I suggest litecoin to you, I think in the next few weeks, it has a lot of potential to go up in price. Next is ethereum who took a big decrease but investing in it now is quite risky considering that the last insane pump that happened is because of successful ICO's running in eth. I think it will go down more but it might recover so better secure a position now. Lastly, look at top coins who took some dump going the same direction as btc chart.
1016  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 'Ethereum Co-Founder Says Crypto Coin Market Is a Time-Bomb' on: July 19, 2017, 11:49:22 AM
Ethereum Co-Founder Says Crypto Coin Market Is a Time-Bomb (BLOOMBERG)
Finally, even the Co-founder of ethereum said that the current rise in price by ethereum is powered by ICO's. Soon I hope ETH devs would have a way to regulate ICO's, because if this continues, we will see yet another hack on ETH chain or more bugs. For now I think ethereum will show it's real value sooner or later and go down more.
1017  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: There is no doubt that the crypto world is a game of the big whales on: July 19, 2017, 10:58:45 AM
Look at the charts, suddenly all green and pumped a lot
This is not good to the ecossystem of cryptos in a long term, the big whales are playing a lot, this is not the "organic" market

we have to evolve a lot if we want the cryptos to be in real world, used by people in general

What do you think guys?
Crypto world is really a game of big whales, but usually they can only manipulate a coin temporarily so when someone tries to manipulate the price, just ride in. This is the organic environment of crypto now, but even if that's the case big whales can't control it forever. If it would be widely used though, those big shots will have a really hard time manipulating the market, so when that time comes, maybe you will see your ideal organic market.
1018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Unlimited?? on: July 19, 2017, 08:56:32 AM
On the contrary, people are not thinking that a segwit will give them bitcoin unlimited. If you only observe a little more, most of the people are shaking afraid and panicking and even panic sell their bitcoins even at a loss.

There is no unlimited bitcoin as the amount remains the same. But there is no split, I am almost certain about it. There is only an upgrade happening.
A segwit implementation will not give people bitcoin unlimited because segwit and bitcoin unlimited are completely different bitcoin upgrade proposals. You are right though that many people panic sells their bitcoins now even at a loss, so at the end of the day, those people who panicked might regret their decision because bitcoin will recover anyway. For now I'll say that it is not certain if there will be a split or not, because the upgrades are not yet implemented.
1019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: For ICO, which platform better (Omni, Waves token or ETH?) on: July 18, 2017, 09:23:45 PM
I would like to open a discussion on pros and cons of the competitive platforms for token issuing: ETH, Omni and Waves. Any suggestions?

I see Omni advantage in dividends, however ETH has deeper market and more followers.
WAVES and ETH are good in issuing tokens but I like waves better. Even if ETH has more investor support, I just simply liked WAVES UI and it's built in exchange, wavesdex which is already in the wallet. That way users of a certain token can convert it into bitcoin and back easily without needing to send it to another exchange's wallet. Sometimes ETH tokens are more prone to hacks I think than waves issued tokens.
1020  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Critique my altcoin portfolio plan on: July 18, 2017, 02:07:35 PM
I'm late in the game to actually invest in crypto, just been keeping a casual eye on Bitcoin for years. I've done some research, but would like the help of more experienced investors.

I'm putting in only money I can lose. Plan is to do a lump sum investment this month, hold for years, and buy more positions monthly using Dollar Cost Averaging. I will not be trading, except potentially taking out a fraction in fiat whenever I realize doubling of value of a coin, or perhaps annual rebalancing.

Below the six coins I'm considering, and their share of total (crypto) portfolio. First three I see as growth plays, and the last three as more speculative. I've tried to pick coins which have strong fundamentals with good potential for long-term value appreciation vs Euro, and are available on Kraken.

Code:
Name         Ticker	Share	Notes
Ethereum ETH 25% True platform with active development, partnerships, and variety of potential uses
Litecoin LTC 20% Mainly a diversification play
Bitcoin   BTC 15% Low portfolio share due to limited growth potential (high price and strong competitive pressure)
Ripple   XRP 15% Huge growth potential if it becomes widely adopted
Dash     Dash 15% Despite suspicious launch and outrageous block rewards, strong on-going development
Monero       XMR 10% Privacy and anonymity will be in increasing demand

Any critique is welcome. Keep in mind I'm brand new to this!
Your portfolio plan is nice, but I if I were you instead of putting 25% on ETH, I would put it into ltc and I will just use 20% with ETH.  I would also try to decrease my portfolio on dash by 5%, adding it on my bitcoin portfolio or maybe monero.I doubt dash and xrp but they are worth a gamble anyway they have a room for growth, but I would try to keep my portfolio on them as low as possible to get decent profit from them.
