1001  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Typical scenario when you are losing on: August 22, 2023, 05:30:50 PM
I would recommend if anyone has to go through this many different things while gambling, then you probably shouldn't be gambling at all.  I have never had any situation where I start to lose because of outside factors.  It's always because I made the wrong bet, or my luck just didn't pan out.  Has never had anything to do with outside factors.  Hard for me to grasp really.
1002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 22, 2023, 05:23:50 PM
Woj is reporting this morning that the NBA is fining James Harden $100,000 for his comments about Daryl Morey being a liar. The drama continues as the Sixers are moving forward with the understanding that James Harden will be on their team this year. I wonder if Harden will be a man of his word and sit out if that happens.

I've only partially looked in to this whole ordeal, but it doesn't surprise me, I feel like Harden is always in the  news for the wrong reasons.  I mean theres a reason he bounces from team to team.

I doubt he sits out the whole year, he's getting old and every year counts for him big time..so I just can't see it.
1003  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What micro games is best for you? on: August 22, 2023, 05:15:00 PM
Complete waste of time in my opinion.  Any time I'm at a casino or playing online where there's nickel slots or whatever, its kind of fun and all to play, but the odds of winning are just so low that I see it as a complete waste of money.  I would personally rather invest that money in some shitcoin with some potential pump upside.  I guess they can be fun, but mostly a waste IMO.

Diamond Guardian..absolutely love this one. Very relevant with the current times of UFO/UAP alien stuff going on. Thanks Max!!!

1005  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Crash may take bitcoin to 1M dollar on: August 20, 2023, 07:10:02 PM
During economic crashes, EVERYTHING sells off.  I mean, everything.  Let's go back to 2008..nothing was safe.  I remember selling a nice Rado watch because I simply needed the money for like 25% of what I paid for it, because that the best offer I could get.  All collectible items were dirt cheap for years (still regretting not buying a Babe Ruth card I really wanted, plus the Michael Jordan rookie card..they were dirt cheap).

Bitcoin is still a highly volatile asset.  Not only am I certain it will crash, it will crash harder than most asset classes.
1006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrong way to accumulate. on: August 20, 2023, 07:06:57 PM
People should simply utilize the DCA (dollar cost averaging) system and stick with that, otherwise you're simply trying to play market timing.  The biggest mistake I see people making is buying bitcoin when it starts to really take off.  This of course means you're chasing highs that may end quickly, and then you just bought at the top.  This of course is exactly what NOT to do.
1007  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling effects on LGBTQ+ People on: August 20, 2023, 07:03:51 PM
lol this is pathetic.  I'm just going to bluntly say this because it needs to be said, if you're a homophobe and treat people differently because their gay, then you're small minded scumbag.  Period. I have no respect for people who can't accept others.  I know there's plenty of people on this forum from backwards ass nations where being gay can mean penalty of death and it just boggles my mind that we are still having to deal with this nonsense.

Equality for all, black, white, man, woman, gay, straight...who the f cares!  We are all humans, but all of our genetic makeups are different and how people can't understand that I will never understand.
1008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Collective bets in local lotteries on: August 20, 2023, 06:56:02 PM
It seems to me that lotteries still exist only because participation in them has become something like a tradition. In today's fast-paced world, it would never occur to anyone normal to buy a lottery ticket and then wait several weeks for the draw. I think that over time (when modern young people take the place of modern older people), lotteries will finally go into their narrow niche.
On the past lotteries were a form of tax, so if the local government wanted to build a new road and they did not had the money then they will organize a lottery, people bought tickets not only because of the possibility of changing their lives but also to support the construction of this new road that will benefit them, and even if most countries still have their national lotteries and the money is used to fund some projects this idea of supporting your community has been lost, meaning that sooner or later people will realize how bad the lottery is and if they want to gamble they may as well consider other options.

In my country there were even more interesting "lotteries" - for example, government bonds where the lucky ones could also get a serious increase in the amount they contributed. But in the end it ended with the fact that all the bonds were frozen and no one received anything  Grin Therefore, in my country, everything that has the prefix "state" is associated with scam. And by the way, now lotteries are held by private companies, but the license is issued to them by the state and it seems that something like 50% of the fees also goes to the state fund. In short, the lottery is a scam anyway (in my country).

Damn, that's fucked up.  US Treasury bonds are considered the safest investment on the planet, so I would never worry purchasing those, but I can say our state/federally ran lotteries are often rife with scams.  Even my own state of Illinois wasn't paying out winners for a period of time.  I mean it's a rigged game, everyone knows the host keeps a % and the winner gets the rest...so it's a set dollar amount for both.  How that could get misappropriated just shows no gov's can be trusted.
1009  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Between futures trading and gambling on: August 20, 2023, 06:52:47 PM
Stick with gambling.  I say this as a financial advisor who's got some familiarity with futures contracts, also having lived a stones throw away form the the CBOE in Chicago for a few year and having gotten to know some of the options/future traders I learned a bit (outside of the learning I did while studying for the Series 7 , Series 65 and other financial exams).

Futures/forwards/options contracts is serious business and you've really got to know what you're doing...it's too much work for me to be interested in personally  At least as of now. I could see myself shifting to that sector work wise eventually.  But for now, simply sports gambling and casino games it is for me.  I take enough risk market wise in stocks/ETFs etc.
1010  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Titan Mint Coins- Serious Issue- Titan Mint Bitcoin Coins ***NEW UPDATES*** on: August 18, 2023, 10:22:29 PM
What a wild turn of events.

Anyways in case anyone cares I'll also throw my hat in here and say I redeemed a PK 2017 0.1BTC Titan coin recently with no issue whatsoever. I hated cracking the slab and peeling the hologram as I really loved the coin but didn't want to risk it. At least I secured the sats.

It just not worth the risk.  I am glad to see Tim doing what he's doing now, at least he's attempting to correct his wrongdoings, but he fucked over a lot of people, and has obviously shown he absolutely can't be trusted.  I think anyone not redeeming their Ttitan PK coins are nuts.  I know a lot of collectors here are filthy rich and the loss of the btc wouldn't hurt them in any manner, but still..it gets taken that's money that could have gone to a charity or something.  Obviously for those that would take a big hit if they lost their Titan PK bitcoins, it's just a no brainer.  This hobby is taking a turn and I wish people would wake up to that (not that many haven't).

Anyone join the webinar yesterday.  Has anyone gotten a link to the recording?  Please share if you've got any info!
1011  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: August 18, 2023, 10:11:23 PM
~

Lol, wrong thread, try this ghost: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5229970.0

This thread is about real football, manly football, not soccer.  Tongue

Could have been worse. At least he was in the same ballpark. Better than when I posted something completely off topic a few months back lol.  I can't remember what it was, but it was kinda funny lol ( I think we both blamed in on alcohol  Cheesy )

On Justin Fields, do not underestimate him, according to my gameboys he is 6th in the top rankings for quarterbacks and Justin Herbert on 7th.

It also appears the we need to update our cheatsheets. Dalvin Cook was traded to the Jets and Zeke Elliott was traded to the Patriots. How does this impact Breece Hall and Rhamondre Stevenson? This might move them down the rankings, I reckon.
I will have to check more closely what is happening around Fields, I had plans to draft him since last year the guy literally saved my ass just when I needed it the most and basically won me two straight games almost single-handedly, but if he does not have anything to work around him then he may depend once again on his legs to make things happen and this could risk him to injury.

I am not going to share my thoughts on Dalvin Cook going to the Jets and Zeke going to the Patriots until after that draft  Tongue ..this would be giving away strategy (not that anyone necessarily gives two shits what my strategies are lol).

As for Fields...here's the thing, as a die hard Bears fan I'm excited as all hell when it comes to his potential and upside..but...he's yet to prove he can be a legitimate pocket passer, and I'm scared that might still end up being the case.  He's got a great receiving core (DJ Moore, Mooney, Claypool..though he is hurt atm...and TE Kemet has big time upside).  He's also got an upgraded offensive line.  There won't be any excuses he can make after this year is what I'm getting at.  Also a solid backfield.

CANT WAIT
1012  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTT / in search of] Bluebits 0.005 BTC (blue-colored?) chip 2017 on: August 18, 2023, 10:04:18 PM
Interesting. Not sure I’ve seen these before. Though it’s very possible I own some lol.

I know I’ve got other funded chips besides these I’m posting below, but not sure which. I will check in the coming days and let you know. I also know someone who would likely have this blue chip you seek.

Obviously these were made by the same outlet..

EDIT: LMAO, I legit didn't even pay attention to who's thread this was.  You are the go to guy for these chips on here and who I was going to reach out to, pretty sure you sold me these chips that I posted here and others.  Do you remember if you ever sold me a bluebits chip?  Cheesy   I'm an idiot.
1013  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling by financial dependents. on: August 18, 2023, 10:02:53 PM
I think this one is pretty simple, the mother needs to cut him off period.  I know that this may seem hard/harsh, but it sounds like if she just keeps feeding him money, he's going to just continue to use it to gamble, so cut him off and see how he likes that.  He's of age where he can live and work and fend for himself on his own..so put him to the test.

This is what I would do anyhow.
1014  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling discussion effect on: August 18, 2023, 09:58:06 PM
I have not even participated in any gambling games in real life and it is in this forum that, I am participating in gambling. Gambling has been a very difficult thing for me to understand even here in the forum. As others have said. It was also here in the forum that I came to understand and know and play gamble. Gambling is not something one understand and play within a time frame but it takes some times. And for one to understand gambling activities he or she has to participate in the gambling board frequently although there are some campaigns that didn't allow their participants to post in gambling but even at that, you can still participate to improve your knowledge on gambling.

Gambling Discussion here have impacted enough knowledge to me. It has given me the full knowledge of gambling. Now whenever place I go at least if they are arguing on the particular gambling discussion in the area and I know the topic, omen, I will put mouth and take what is needed there.

Well my advice would be to not gamble if you're really not that in to it.  It kind of seems like you may not be? If you are, and there are games in particular that you really like, I'd highly recommend reading books about them.  Take Blackjack for example, there's countless books written about how to play that game.  Most people think a lot of these types of games are mostly luck but they aren't and there's plenty of reading to be had that will bring you along!
1015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin best option to invest on: August 17, 2023, 09:30:12 PM
Theirs so many investment to invest but many people are seeing bitcoin as the highest place to invest their money but I'm not seeing bitcoin as highest investing plan ever, I don't know people have not invested in bitcoin is thinking of bitcoin as investment you can make millions dollars when you started, I'm preaching to change our people mindset of bitcoin investment so that they will not hope that bitcoin investment make somebody to be rich the way they think of it.

Some people have not known that so many people who are investing in bitcoin doesn't fully depend on bitcoin as most generating income, they are using bitcoin as their side hustle, let us reduce the mentality of people and sense of humour by not seen bitcoin as the shortest way to make money, And if they should continue with such believe they may commit suicide when they put all their money and problems in bitcoin and lose by the end of the investment.

We have other investment that we can make money with, importation and exportation and also real estate management and also gas plant business that will be given weekly and monthly income depends how broad is the business and management, sometimes people do teach their children bitcoin and its not bad but let us teach our children other investment that can profit them as we think that bitcoin will profit then in future. Whoever that is having bitcoin as major source of income should spread it source of income and make bitcoin a side hustle.

It's good to invest in bitcoin but let us remember that it's a virtual and any money and profit we make in bitcoin should be directed to establish another business that will be seen physically and be managed physically.

You make some good points here.  As a financial advisor this is something I speak about with clients all of the time.  My message to them is always the same...bitcoin is first and foremost a digital decentralized cryptocurrency..it's NOT inherently and investment.  Now just the same as any fiat currency, it's been turned in to an investment, and if your bitcoin value increases dollar wise, of course it acts like an investment, but that's not what it is.

I wish people would focus more on the breakthrough technology that it brings to the table.  That's why I fell in love with it many years ago.
1016  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is regulations among the key factors that affect the price of Bitcoin on: August 17, 2023, 09:26:29 PM
Is regulations among the key factors that affects the price of Bitcoin

It absolutely is.  Here's the thing, technically every country on the planet could ban bitcoin but that would not shut bitcoin down, of course, since it's a decentralized cryptocurrency.  You've got decentralized exchanges as well as always OTC sales/trades (over the counter) which can be done and the government can't do anything about it (I guess unless you get caught).

However, if say the US gov banned bitcoin, it would spell a major disaster for bitcoin.  This would mean no exchanges would be allowed to operate in the US, and a very large portion of bitcoiners would never buy bitcoin again.  Most people need simplicity, hence why so many people use Coinbase (Con-base) and then simply leave their coins on the exchange.  People are also lazy, so finding alternatives will drive a lot of people out.
1017  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 17, 2023, 09:22:53 PM
I’m not sure I understand the point of the in-season tournament but I did just see a suggestion that the winner of the tournament get an automatic playoff berth. That’s interesting…

I’m more 76ers updates from Philadelphia, James Harden is now saying he’s open to play for a different team than just the Clippers. He wants out…

I think it's a cool idea, but for different reasons.
If I read correctly, every player of the winning team of the tournament gets 500000$ in prize money.
So imagine you are a rookie or whatever, on a minimum contract. The 500k make a HUGE difference in your annual salary.

The big names of course couldn't care less but for the bench players this is a nice pay day. Of course the journey is long, but it's a nice opportunity.

I haven't looked into it yet but how would they get an automatic berrth?  Wouldn't that leave an uneven amount of teams from the eastern and western conferences.  And I guess about the money you are right.  You might see more of the young guys balling out in that game for that money.  Imagine the guys who are on a 10 day contract or something lol.  They'd be balling in those games

This would be kind of fun.  Say an in-season tourney for rookies/sophmores or something like that.  Which we sort of get already with the NBA rising stars game during the All-Star weekend.

But this will NEVER happen because no teams want any of their players to be at risk unnecessarily.  Doing an in-season tournament might be fun for us, but I highly doubt any team owners are interested in anything like this.
1018  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What resources do you have for members who may be dealing with addiction? on: August 17, 2023, 09:18:57 PM
Here in the United States we've got all sorts of gambling "hotlines" where you can call in and talk with someone for free about your gambling addiction and they will help guide you.  It's essentially the same thing as when you've got a drug problem.  Our country offers programs/websites/in person help etc for free, which in my opinion is tax money well spent.  I feel for those who've got a serious issue.
1019  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What you will do? on: August 17, 2023, 09:16:55 PM
I typically have a pretty set schedule when it comes to gambling in terms of how much and how often I do so.  If I'm going on a trip, say to Lake Tahoe where gambling is legal (Nevada part of Tahoe), then I'll set aside an amount that I'm willing to lose and won't spend a penny more.

If I'm making weekly NFL bets, then I typically stick to the same amounts gambled, but if I'm really hot and winning a lot of my bets, I'll ramp it up a bit.  I never go over any amount I'm scared to lose.  Ever.
1020  Economy / Economics / Re: New Research found Work from home workers to be less productive on: August 16, 2023, 12:38:13 AM
I work from home and absolutely love it.  Here's the thing, if I do my job well, it doesn't matter if I take a nap during the middle of the day (and I absolutely do sometimes), or if I stop working around 12-1pm on Fridays (which I typically do), as long as I'm getting my job done and it a good manner, my boss doesn't care.  It's nice to work for a job that's like this, as I know some jobs mean there's always work to do when you're clocked in..so I could of course see people that work from home being less productive in a position like this.

I also work on the weekends sometimes, as well late in to the afternoon..so there are some trade-offs.
