Someone has figured out that bitcoin can be pumped indirectly by pumping several alts simultaneously. We will probably see this several times while China is down, and until a new exchange arises with no fees and no ID verification. India is no go. Probably somewhere in Latin American.
Hmmm. speculation based of speculation based of your speculation... bitcoin sounds about rite. Umad that the history of bitcoin is the same as a typical scammy penny stock and the current altcoin scene? Only difference is regulators usually shut down penny stocks before they explode like bitcoin, which is primarily the result of shady exchange activity that is outside of regulatory reach (for now). ps. if you don't believe bitcoin's history is identical to the current situation w altcoins, review posts in the speculation section of this forum from several years ago. Countless reports of manipulative trading and tips on how to avoid walls, etc.  hmmm more speculation China restricts fiat deposits. Price on BTCChina crashes slightly, but recovers and nearly hits previous high. Then BTCChina starts requiring ID verification. Price crashes dramatically over 60%. BTCChina dies and its volume moves to BTCe and Houbi. ^ Yup, pure coincidence. Volume migrated from Gox and Stamp as they began enforcing ID verification. Gee... i wonder what's going on. |

NB...its interesting that rather than just list positive events most users want to talk about the negatives of fiat or present personal opinion - I'd suggest the internet has made people pretty feeble minded in respect of disciplined thinking. 2014 will be terrible for btc. It won't be a good year after all the chinese exchanges are shut down and arrests are made for price manipulation. I give it until the end of Jan.

Might be most of them retrieved their bitcoin instead of trying to sell and cash out? Or 99% of the trading was by 1-2 individuals who have moved their coins to an exchange that doesn't require ID verification. |

A 51 on bitcoin would almost certainly result in the dramatic rise of an altcoin. Enormous profits to be made if you buy up a bunch of alts before the attack.
Do you suggest Dogecoin for example? Yes. But others will do. Everything in the top 10 scrypt would go way up. FTFY. Proof of stake coins would be appealing too. |

BTCGuild released 4 blocks in less than 5 minutes, very likely suggesting they are doing Selfish-mining. This is BAD, BAD VERY BAD. No one is doing shit about mining corruption, currently expanding like a cancer. I've been following the pools lately: https://blockchain.info/poolsBTCGuild 28% Today's evidence points to Corruption. Ghash.io 24% Proven corrupt. They sat at 33% just one week ago. These nasty cats are alert, and listening to people's disgust. On Dec 24 they switched off (I was watching the pools graph as it happened) 5% of their power which then instantly reappeared as Unknown. They either sold a part of are just masking it under another private pool. These last couple of days, another 4% chunk moved to (apparently) Eligius. Unknown 19% As stated above this secret lot grew by 5% a couple days back. I would assume even more of it is just Ghash's extra power, in hiding.. BROAD LARGE SCALE DISHONEST MINING CORRUPTIONWhy are so few people saying anything about this and even less doing something (I know there isn't a clear thing to do tho..)?? How many of the early adopters are in on this? Is this why this is being kept on the low? We are sitting right now at 52% corrupt network.... Get ready for a year of record breaking artificially high prices. Just remember - Bitcoins aren't real unless you're holding them in your own wallet. I expect no end to Wall Street's bad behaviour, and I expect lots of people are going to get burned, but at least with Bitcoin it is possible to protect yourself. yeah, but people do invest in the Gold ETF. there might be manipulation down the road, but with that much money pouring into it... its going to the moon first.
