1021  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed transactions, but very soon, high priority on: December 06, 2016, 08:28:46 AM
I have 2, the second a test, but 6 hours without a confirmation, despite paying the tx fee set as default in the wallet.

I feel paranoid about sending anything from hereon.

Can you post transaction IDs please? The "default" used to be a good suggestion, currently its better to use the dynamic fee slider.

Dear Manager,

I would like to draw your attention ...

lol

But f...ing confirm please.

We have informed the Bitcoin CEO.

Confirmation today was also delayed for me. I had a txn that took 10 hours before confirming. It really depends on the fee you used. You can not rely on the high priority status you can see on blockchain.info. You may want to remember that you need atleast 90 sats /kb fee to get your txn on high priority.
You're txn will woon be confirm just be patient.

Thats true, its based on the concept of "priority" (the longer bitcoins are unused the higher their priority) which no longer plays a significant role. 90 Satoshi per kilobyte would be too low, I think you meant 90 Satoshi per byte. According to cointape[1] a good fee is between 70 and 100 sat/byte the last few days.

Oh my, that's my problem I'm not that knowledgeable about the specifics, I don't know if what should I copy and paste or whatever. Anyway in case of electrum, I'll try to download it and see how it goes. Thanks Shorena

For starters try signing a message like this:

Code:
This is zero1ten from bitcointalk.org and today is 2016/12/06

with just any of the electrum addresses and post it here so we can try to verify it.

Hi Shorena, I think electrum is not available in my country or maybe not in ios. I'm just using an iphone and I don't usually have the time to use laptop. Is there other wallet you may suggest preferably an app wallet? Tnx again and my apologies if I'm bothering you.

AFAIK electrum is only for desktop/android. I rarely have access to an iOS device, but mycelium is available for iOS[1] and on android it can be used to sign messages. It has the advantage that it even does the formatting for you, so you can just copy to clipboard at the end and paste the entire thing here.

Ok thanks again, I'll get back when I'm done downloading mycelium.

Hi again Shorena, finished downloading and here is my address from mycelium 1tyg1zSVXL22vsXoV8yfuWi97XipC734E

Try signing the message in the above box with it, Ill see if I can verify it.
1023  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Miners fee on: December 06, 2016, 08:09:56 AM
Well When i take the recommended Fee its more then 10%.. like 0,006 btc to transfer 0,05.. thats almost 5 dollar for a 32 dollar transaktion..

The. Fee. Is. Not. Related. To. The. Amount. Transfered.

TX 1 -> https://blockchain.info/tx/9aa34515c17a5bdfe264ba81a0ee3a100858a45b0adba9c475138d9a8afcdf13
Amount transfered: ~0.001 BTC
Size: 225 bytes
Fee: 0.0005 BTC
Fee per BTC: 0.5 BTC per BTC, ~50%
Fee per Byte: 222 Sat/Byte (overpaid)

TX 2 -> https://blockchain.info/tx/8e36b4616469a52093dd2e9f2f7e8318ace3ed6246f71987fb4e23c8843de545
Amount transfered: ~10.456 BTC
Size: 963 byte
Fee: 0.00322706 BTC
Fee per BTC: 0.000308 BTC per Byte, ~0.03%
Fee per Byte: 335 Sat/Byte (overpaid)

If your transaction is large (in byte) because you use a high number of inputs you have to pay a high fee (in bitcoin/satoshi/etc.). This is usually the case if you used faucets or otherwise received small transactions (>0.0001).

So I probably understood, do you confirm that anyone could say whatever publicly in this forum even if this is a lie?

I can confirm that.  People post lies here on an hourly basis.  They know nothing will happen to them but possible negative trust.

There are a few exceptions though, e.g. dead threats are against the rules.

I need this signed message thing but I'm not that techie when it comes to this kind of stuff, so I'm really confused on how to use it, I have an airbitz wallet, but I can't find the option for signing message, I guess it doesn't have one. So do I just need to change wallet? If so what is the best and secured wallet to use with sign message option? Thanks anyone

I never use airbitz wallet, so I can't help you to sign message from there..
Very good desktop wallet - that i use over two years - is MultiBit Classic (not HD).
I don't like MultiBit HD just because is more comlicated to recover.
I'm almost sure that after instalation, you will not need any help to sign message from MultiBit Classic. Smiley

I wouldnt suggest using mutlitbit classic just because its no longer maintained (besides critical bugs). It will likely no longer work properly when SegWit is activated.

@zer01ten as you can see from the first post there are several wallets that easily allow you to sign messages. The question is whether or not you need to sign with a specific key, for a specific address. If thats the case, it might not be possible. If you can sign with any new address, electrum is probably the quickest to setup.

Hi there,

I want to send some btc from blockchain to coinbase but I wonder wich fee i should use to get it confirmed if i want to send about 0.05 btc. There is no rush to send it. I think the recommended fee of blockchain is way too high.

The fee is not based on the price, but on the size of your transaction in byte. Currently 100 satoshi per byte[1] should get you a quick confirmation.

I am not complaining about the ratings, infact mine is just a request to remove the public offtopic accusation that are based on nothing.
These words have been reported and quoted here.

Quote

Doesnt matter, it will not get removed.

I never cheated anyone or forced anyone to buy or tricked neither (example selling something that isn't what I stated or doing worst things like the public offtopic accusation that are in that forum)

Tricking means literally "an act or procedure intended to achieve an end by deceptive or fraudulent means".

I just tryed to sell an account using a different channel that wasnt bitcointalk and I didnt succeed selling it neither. Why should I receive scam or worst accusations?
1031  Economy / Reputation / Re: To admin or a global moderator on: December 04, 2016, 07:15:20 PM
Did or didnt you promote "s-coin"?
1) No I didnt promote s-coin and I didnt went in bitcointalk to promote neither I cheated on anyone here or elsewhere never.

2) He was refering to an altcoin account I put for sale that wasnt coinspace neither and mainly was put for sale in another forum (inforge.net)

Of course I never removed any post of something I never did.

The post given by both as reference has been removed.

Scary isnt it? DNS is an open system though and you can use an independent server if you want.

Yes the email was changed by hackers!

At the very least click the "Report to Admin" link at the lower left and ask them nicely to confirm the message is not faked here.

1034  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: Transaktions- Fee... Infos für Anfänger on: December 04, 2016, 02:25:36 PM

1035  Economy / Reputation / Re: To admin or a global moderator on: December 04, 2016, 02:19:11 PM
Hi everyone,
I had been victim of a user who used words like "truffatore" (transalted to italian it means literally the derogatory of trickster or crook).
His statements are made without any legal certainity and he refuse to confront myself in terms of legal matters, mainly these statements which are mostly lies doesnt matter with any bitcointalk activity.

His statements are expressed behind a nickname of a person who just own an anonymous domain.

I reported his activity to an advocate who told me that there is a better chance I could ask someone here if he could kindly remove this slandering.

I wish like a global moderator or admin could remove completely his words used against me that attempt to attack my own fairness just because he tells lies.

Trust ratings are not moderated. Lies or not does not matter. Solve it with the person that gave you the rating.

I had never been reported by this lier named "truffacoin" to real life authorities (police station or else) so he could give value to his allegation and he never would because this way I could even know who he is and begin legal action myself.

Trust ratings here are just valid here, why do you think it matters whether or not someone reports you to the authorities?

Additionally using these kind of words is forbidden by the state where we are hosted, that's why he use them and hide behind a nickname inside a forum.

AFAIK this forum is hosted in the United States of America.

The slandering starts here:

Please would be very appreciated if this request could be reported or if anyone could suggest me a way to report or make something about.

Thank you in advance for any help

Did or didnt you remove the post in which you did?

1037  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How many addresses can I generate safely in Electrum? on: December 04, 2016, 10:00:26 AM
The gap limit is the number of addresses that will be derived from seed and can be empty. Its what makes electrum stop deriving more addresses. You can derive any amount, but past 1000 (or was it 10000?) the performance might suffer because there seems to be a limit on most of the servers.

Dynamic Fees auf ELECTRUM - Stand am: 03.12.2016

a) in the next block = 0,00136 BTC/kB = 0,98 €
b) within 2 blocks   = 0,00091 BTC/kB = 0,65 €
c) within 5 blocks   = 0,00069 BTC/kB = 0,49 €

1039  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Stuck at block 441207 ? on: December 03, 2016, 07:24:01 PM
There are torrents which have archived versions of the Blockchain.
However, you're still re-downloading the whole blockchain in a way even if it's faster.

Starting from scratch in the wallet gives you less space for error.
Better do something that's long than not take action on something that doesn't work.

The torrents are slower unless you have a very unusualy setup. While the download itself might be faster, you cant verify the blocks while downloading them via the torrent.
1040  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it required to download the whole blockchain to normal BC-wallet/user? on: December 03, 2016, 02:00:28 PM
Hello forum!

Even I am a absolute BC-novice, I am asked to teach/demonstrate some lessons(2 hours per week only) about BC in my school
(limited bandwidth and time, computers are turned off after the lessons).

Question:
How long does it take to become functional after starting the bitcoin-wallet software the first time on a PC (Windows or Linux)?

Depends on what you mean with "the bitcoin-wallet". There are many variants as you can see e.g. here -> https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

Among the most commonly used are Electrum and Multibit HD neither takes long to setup. They usually run within a couple of minutes If you want to teach about bitcoin in class I suggest you the testnet. AFAIK neither of the two wallet supports that, but the bitcoin wallet for android does. If you cant expect your pupils to have a smartphone you can use an emulator.

Any feedback is appreciated very much. Thank you!

Joe

PS
As much as I do know, running a normal wallet does not require to download the whole blockchain
of about 80GB)

-snip-
Yes, if you want to run the bitcoin core wallet, you will need to download the entire chain.

Best you teach your class about online wallets.

Cmon Vod, there are wallets between core and web wallets.
