1021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your base currency if you trade in alt-coins? on: July 18, 2017, 12:01:31 PM
Your base currency, is the currency you have, when all your positions are closed. This should be the U.S. dollar. Let me explain. If all positions are closed you expect the market to go down. If the market goes down, you can buy more bitcoins with the same amount of U.S. dollars, for the next position. So, if you’re trading any crypto currency part with BTC as the base currency (like XMR/BTC, ZEC/BTC etc.), you should close all your position when the BTC/USD is in a down trend, since any other coin that has BTC as the base currency will go down too. Let’s look at some examples.

(BTC/USDT daily charts)

(XRP/USDT daily charts)

(ETH/USDT daily charts)

If you study all pairs, you will find out the all BTC base currency pairs are moving in the same direction as the BTC/USD.
That’s why I only trade crypto currency pairs with the U.S. dollar as the base currency. Poloniex offers 11 pairs I can trade on: BTC/USD, ETH/USD, ETC/USD, LTC/USD, XRP/USD, ZEC/USD, DASH/USD, STR/USD, NXT/USD, XMR/USD and REP/USD. So, I spread my investment over those 11 positions.

My base currency when all positions are closed is btc because I often trade on btc to altcoins or altcoins to btc market, and I have used USD markets only a few times on trading so my base currency is BTC. Like you said I try to close my position when BTC/USD market is in a down trend, but not all BTC base currency pairs moves in the same direction as BTC/USD, therefore, most of BTC base currency pairs moves in the same direction as BTC/USD market.
1022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you read news or updates for possible pumping of altcoins? on: July 18, 2017, 11:01:27 AM
Where do you read news or updates for possible pumping of altcoins?
Commonly I read news and updates for possible pumping of altcoins here on bitcointalk, coindesk and more. I just search google and pick the good and trusted resources to read. Also, you can read on facebook just join crypto related groups, sometimes they can be a good source of news but not all the time.
1023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will dogecoin pumped in 2018 ?? on: July 18, 2017, 09:36:11 AM
I was going through one post in our community (BCT) and i found one really interesting post saying dogecoin may pumped in 2018 because of year of dog in china . https://www.karmaweather.com/2018-year-of-the-earth-dog/.
There is a possibility that dogecoin will be pumped in 2018 but I doubt it, I guess it will just stay on it's current levels and I am contented just the way it is now. Dogecoin is one of my favorite coin to use in terms of gambling and that's all there was to it. Many use doge just for gambling too.
1024  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you deal with stress? on: July 17, 2017, 09:47:20 AM
Honestly I never dealt with exchanges before and this is all new to me but it's both fun and very stressful. I'm not a big time player, in fact I started out with nothing and just mined some Hush, sold that and bought ARK/Waves/Shift/Espers. I own maybe $500 worth of coins right now lol, but I plan to increase this.
However stress is getting to me. I keep checking the prices, trying to buy low and sell high and I do that at work now as well and even dream about it. I dreamed Espers was getting pumped and my exchange closed Espers trading and I woke up all pissed off and sweaty and cursing the non existent exchange.
If you really want to deal with stress just check the prices once or three times a day, and hold it until you get profit. Watch out for news about the exchanges you use, so that you wont get pissed off next time and lastly, have fun doing other recreational activities in real life besides trading and being in front of your computer all day.
1025  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: After Aug 1st and SegWit on: July 16, 2017, 04:48:48 AM
I see a lot of threads talking about the BIG date regarding August 1st.

But there are no threads about whats going to happen after August 1st. There will be an August 2nd (My birthday) so lets talk about that...

Predictions/Price/ etc...

I want to hear some thoughts.

My plan is to buy up BTC in the coming weeks and HODL

If you will buy bitcoin make sure that there will be no hardfork because if there will be, I predict there will be a dump after august 1 so if it started to stabilize by that time, buy. There is also a possibility of it going up to unimaginable prices if bitcoin hardfork is good so it is better to buy one week before august 1 but don't go all in on fiat.
1026  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about those altcoins? on: July 16, 2017, 02:37:27 AM
Hello guys ! I want to invest in those altcoin:

AMP ( Good update coming the third )
XCP ( Strong support (I mean by support, a straight light on graphic which "can" block a dump ), so pump will come soon? )
VIA ( I heard its a good coin but i want some advice )
Monaco ( Card release in end august ).
SolarCoin ( For long term, energy is the future they said xd )

Do you think they got some potential?

For me your stash is good for at least a month or two but it won't be good for long term investment. Monaco is good until the expected card is released by the end of August and among them, I think solarcoin is shit but other coins are good.  My tip to you is to sell your stash when you got a profit already don't keep it for long.
1027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stolen ETH. Please help. on: July 15, 2017, 12:20:09 PM
I've mined 2 ETH in MyEtherWallet and yesterday when I opened my wallet I saw that my balance is 0.

You can see my transactions here:
https://etherchain.org/account/0x7f4657C9809eA11126a9EC25A9e361bD9077B8bb
https://etherscan.io/address/0x7f4657c9809ea11126a9ec25a9e361bd9077b8bb

I've made the two transactions for 0.07 Ether and 0.001 Ether ($0.19) to my Kraken account for testing purposes and the transactions arrived in my Kraken account, but I didn't make the other two transactions for:
0.9987912714717137 Ether ($185.97)
0.9270678301823185 Ether ($172.62)

Is there any possibility to get my ETH back or at least trace where the ETH was send?

Thank you in advance.
You can't get your eth back if the receiver won't send it to you back but you can at least trace where your eth has been sent. If they really ended up on Kraken hot wallet like what Anno MMXVI said, you can at least email Kraken support team and ask them if they could return your eth to your wallet or credit it into your Kraken account. If it sent to others there is no way to recover it, just assume you lost it on gambling the one who stole it won't return your eth to you if it was really stolen.
1028  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Need help in Bitcoin talk posting <URGENT> on: July 15, 2017, 10:18:33 AM
Dear All,

I am newbie to this forum. I have created Crypto currency for one of my customer. We wanted to market it.

I want to post images and other activities. And also wanted to connect with our reputed community.

Please help me in this.

Thank you in advance.

For starters refer to others' announcement thread, and make an announcement thread of your own and think thoroughly of what other contents you want to put in there but don't forget an introduction about your altcoin, what use will it have, what benefits will people get in investing onto your ICO, and a roadmap. If you want to refer to a particular announcement thread, refer to the announcement thread of OPUS in my signature I think their announcement thread is well made.
1029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in ICO, still promising? on: July 15, 2017, 05:51:30 AM
I am a person that gains profit from investing in ICOs but now I'm having second thoughts. I know some ICOs are potential scam so I am really picky to where I put my money.
Anyway, considering with what happened to Ethereum price and with the nearing Aigist 1, do you guys think that it will still be profitable to invest on ICOs mostly on ERC20 tokens and those accepting btc payments?
I don't think that august 1 decision is not an issue whether if one will profit into ICO's or not, but all I can say is that there are still some ICO's that are profitable right now like OPUS. If you dont want to invest into OPUS, there are still some out there that is good but be sure to pick those who has good roadmap and dont go for shitty ones.
1030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: are these coins good for long term? on: July 14, 2017, 10:52:26 PM
hi guys right now im currently holding

stratis, ioc, steem, sys and zen(mining it)

im also thinking about ark and monero

are all of these coins good or is it just a pump and dump ( obviously i dont suspect monero of pump and dump )

This is just my opinion, but replace ioc and sys, I dont think they are good for long term holding. Ark is the best among the choices because it has a lot of support from it's community and monero are sometimes used as a payment method. Stratis, steem and zen are quite good too but always be on the watch for news about them so that you can dump when you needed to.
1031  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do with tokens after launch? on: July 14, 2017, 09:40:30 AM
Hi I'm new to altcoins. Can people explain why you are interested in purchasing ICO tokens? How will the price discovery work?

I saw some projects where token holders are married to the project. Some are not liquid and some are traded on exchange and the price goes way up. Can you cash out or its project dependent?

I think a lockup is normal for this kind of VC/ICO investment but otherwise I'm confused where people find ROI on their ICO principle if you can't cash out the tokens when you want.

Thanks.
In my case I dump straight ahead after ICO when tokens got released unless I believe that the particular ICO I have invested to has a lot of potential more to grow and still has a good roadmap in it. To answer the highlighted question quoted above, the only lockup of tokens is when distribution takes too long and if it is finished, buyers of those tokens can sell it anytime so it is really up to you.
1032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Waves Vs. Ethereum on: July 14, 2017, 07:16:46 AM
Does any one thinks that Ethereum can survive with the rising of Waves? I've heard that "Waves will be the next Ethereum"
If you ask me which is better to invest too right now, I guess I will choose waves over ethereum because it still has a lot of room to grow. ETH is just overpriced right now I think and it is just natural that it would take time to recover unlike waves which I think is in a price just right. Even if that is the case, waves would not be the next ethereum probably.
1033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH!! on: July 13, 2017, 09:25:06 PM
Suddenly ETH is big dump but now slowly pumping. In this month most probably not big pumping I think.
I don't think that ETH would recover easily anytime soon, because of the hacks that have happened where user's balance is disappearing, so it would take at least a month or two before things recover. Also, big ICO's are converting into fiat now according to cointelegraph.
1034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining vs Buying Altcoins, which option is better? on: July 13, 2017, 11:03:48 AM
Always buying.

If you are dedicated and having cheap electricity,.... mining may be better.
In general, buying is the best.

The best is actually to HODL.
You are right that in most cases buying is better but I think mining some altcoin specially fresh new ones is a finer choice. It is better in terms of the capital you will use in buying some mining equipments since the funds would not only go to one cryptocurreny. If the coin you are mining grows, you will gain more than what you invested easier, and getting returns on your investment. If the coin you mined didn't got a good value to sell into, you can still choose another altcoin to mine for profit after all, you got the equipment and the only thing you will have to deal with is how to have cheap electricity.
1035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The 10 Oldest Altcoins on: July 13, 2017, 09:47:59 AM
litecoin and ripple still relatively cheap. anyone think its a good time to enter? or shall we wait until after 1st august to enter?
sorry cryptonoob here
Id say that it is a good time to enter ripple if you want because price is still at 0.00008532 BTC which is cheap and it has a lot of potential because it was launched just 2 years after bitcoin launched and it is still alive now but for litecoin I guess it is not a good time because price is not that cheap at all.
1036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: My day just took a turn for the worst on: July 12, 2017, 09:34:42 PM
I have not heard about cryptsy before. Was it a big exchange? I can not believe that an exchange can turn into a scammer after one night. Damn. If we can not trust the exchange, how can we trade our coin and make profit with it? how can we buy other cryptocurrencies without an exchange?
Cryptsy was not that big of an exchange but it was a really good one when it was still up. This story is pretty usual in cryptoworld so don't trust any exchange in storing your coins but still you can trade and make profit with it. Just remember that if you plan to hold long term, put it into a safe wallet that you control/ own the private key of the specific wallet.
1037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why whole market stay on 0% on: July 12, 2017, 10:12:35 AM
Hi,

Anybody know what it is? Every coin have 0% change https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/all/
To make it simple, every coin have 0% change if not all then most is because of some various reasons. Probably the main reason why market stays on 0% is because of the upcoming scaling solution at August 1 of bitcoin, where changes will occur that might result in a big dip so many are converting their stash into bitcoin and at the same time hedging and putting their money back into fiat while some are buying hedging their bitcoin stash to altcoins or buying bitcoins just because it might make profit.
1038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's is this mention about August?? on: July 11, 2017, 09:36:04 PM
Why are people worried about coins being on an exchange?  They simply going to disappear? I have multiple coins such as sia, Ether, Digi, ect.  I should pull all these coins out to a paper wallet?
People are worried about bitcoins on exchanges because if a split were to occur at August 1, exchanges might not give others their bitcoin classic balance. They will not disappear probably but in the case of altcoins, I think it is safe to put it on exchanges because it won't be affected by bitcoin changes in August 1.

Haha, so you were chinese? What happened. Anyways we plan to use this to our advantage and expand into the fresh chinese market (Which doesn't have a streaming service like Spotify right now)
I also like the idea because it is unique and it already has a working product already at it's disposal before even having token presale. It is rare for an ICO to already have a working product even before ICO. So what actually made OPUS different than other streaming services like Spotify besides it being uncensored, decentralized and free?
