The other mistake is, where did you conjure up cgminer 3.7.2? Why would a cgminer version about four years old work with hardware designed last year?

You can find the appropriate version by...

drum roll...

=================
=How to Run=
=================

Run syntax:

*nix [if not root level privileges, see Q&A]
./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://pool.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1BURGERAXHH6Yi6LRybRJK7ybEm5m5HwTr -p x --suggest-diff 32

Windows
cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://pool.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1BURGERAXHH6Yi6LRybRJK7ybEm5m5HwTr -p x --suggest-diff 32

OS X
cgminer -o stratum+tcp://pool.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1BURGERAXHH6Yi6LRybRJK7ybEm5m5HwTr -p x --suggest-diff 32

-- snip --

===============
=Basic Q&A / Troubleshooting=
===============

Q. How can I set a different frequency for the 2Pac vs the Compac?

cgminer will accept one or both parameters for the stick.
--gekko-compac-freq 200 --gekko-2pac-freq 150

Note how, in the run syntax, it gives you a sample command line to start. You edit this with your own pool configs. Note also the --suggest-diff parameter. Then note that setting frequency is --gekko-2pac-freq; does it look a bit familiar? Try adding that to your command line but change the number.

And if it still doesn't work, go read a tutorial on command line interface and try again.

Like I've been saying for over a year now, the answer to just almost every question ever asked in this thread is "read the first post".

It is a silly question, unless you're consulting the 2Pac Support Thread.

1045  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R808 Miner Official Support Thread on: March 13, 2018, 01:25:08 PM
Nothing about this Terminus is working as well as I had hoped. To be frank, that includes the power brick. I'd hoped by going overspec on the current it'd be able to handle a little better but they're kinda junk. Soon as I have time I'll be tracking down a source for better, and then I reckon if someone's brick sucks it can be returned for an improved replacement.

I guess the "silver lining" is, all these kinks should already be worked out by the time I have a newer better pod available one of these days.
1046  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Has Bitcoin mining ever been so unprofitable? on: March 13, 2018, 12:40:50 PM
Alright, now factor into that the average cost of 1TH. Four years ago 1TH cost a couple thousand bucks, now it's about $100. I bet the graph gets a lot flatter if you normalize against that.
1047  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: March 10, 2018, 06:51:10 PM
Too bad searching FAQ section of the first post for "OFF" or "voltage" doesn't turn up references to an illustrated graphical guide to setting the voltage. Also too bad there aren't charts in the first post that give you suggested voltages (and expected current draws) for given frequencies like 250MHz and 150MHz.

The answer to just almost every question ever asked in this thread is "read the first post".
1048  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: March 10, 2018, 04:18:48 PM
...uh, what?
1049  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: March 10, 2018, 03:48:32 PM
Is there a way to search for answers to what are likely common problems asked anytime in the 14-month history of this thread?

Yes there is.

A way to search for answers, I mean.

For your question, no you pretty much have to pull the stick. Might be possible if you know which points on the board to short across and jump-start the string, but it'd only work right under certain conditions. Best to just pull the stick and re-insert.
1050  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: March 09, 2018, 08:16:10 AM
That's great, but tech support doesn't really care. Maybe you should mention it in the sales board.
1051  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R808 Miner Official Support Thread on: March 08, 2018, 10:59:59 PM
That's not very many errors. If you think of it as a percentage of accepted shares (all of which are in the neighborhood of 5.3 million) and also as accumulation over 3 full days, it's almost trivial.
1052  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: March 08, 2018, 08:14:35 PM
From a hashrate perspective, yeah. However, the power systems within the miners are different. The 2Pac has 2 chips in series so the main regulator has to double the voltage but not the current. This means the regulator, which is rated for around 17A, can push the chips well above 400MHz if you can keep them cool. The Terminus is 8 chips in series pairs, so it runs four times the voltage and double the current. The main regulator is limited to 20A, which means 10A per chip, hence why it can't hit the higher speeds like a 2Pac can.

I could have made it faster by adding in more series pairs, which increases the voltage but not the current. The practical top-end here is about 7 pairs (limited by the regulator's maximum output voltage). Adding more chips would require a larger board, larger heatsink, more fans and make the whole thing more expensive. The practical limit for this size miner is 8, maybe 10 chips.

Before shipping out, every Terminus pod is run for 1 hour at max voltage and 200MHz.

On the next one I'll be using a custom main regulator that should be good for more power, and of course it'll have more efficient chips so a much higher hashrate will be attainable. Also it'll integrate software voltage adjustment so people who don't have meters and screwdrivers (which is to say, lame people) can still do the tweaking.

Product-specific questions should probably be addressed to the support thread, now that a product-specific support thread is available.

From the Q/A section of the first post of the Terminus Support Thread:

Q.  How fast do these things mine at?

With the default settings, this miner should produce 66Gh/s @150MHz.  more details

The "more details" link above gives us:

100MHz (44GH) 660mV/node 2.64V total; 12V 1.4A for 16.8W/0.38J/GH
125MHz (55GH) 660mV/node 2.64V total; 12V 1.7A for 20.4W/0.37J/GH
150MHz (66GH) 660mV/node 2.64V total; 12V 2.0A for 24.0W/0.36J/GH
175MHz (77GH) 693mV/node 2.77V total; 12V 2.5A for 30.0W/0.39J/GH
200MHz (88GH) 715mV/node 2.86V total; 12V 3.1A for 37.2W/0.42J/GH
225MHz (99GH) 755mV/node 3.02V total; 12V 3.8A for 45.6W/0.46J/GH
250MHz (110GH) 770mV/node 3.08V total; 12V 4.4A for 52.8W/0.48J/GH
275MHz (121GH) 770mV/node 3.08V total; 12V 4.9A for 58.8W/0.49J/GH

I think 275MHz is reaching the upper limit of the main regulator.

USB2 or USB3?
1055  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: March 07, 2018, 09:10:29 PM
My RPI just doesn't recognize any usb plugged into it.

Not sure I've come across that one. Not even keyboards or thumbdrives?
1056  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: March 07, 2018, 07:32:31 PM
The instructions in the first post are about as simple as it gets.

What errors are you seeing?

If it's because of -O2 I'm gonna laugh because I've lost count of how many times someone has made that mistake.
1057  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R808 Miner Official Support Thread on: March 07, 2018, 10:38:49 AM
Is it a good enough hint that this is posted in the Bitcoin section?
1058  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R808 Miner Official Support Thread on: March 07, 2018, 04:14:50 AM
The error, and to a certain extent its solution, is here:

Code:
[2018-03-06 19:09:37.494] USB init, open device failed, err -3, you don't have privilege to access - BSC device 1:8
[2018-03-06 19:09:37.494] See README file included for help

I bet if you look into cgminer's included README file for that error you'll find some advice.

Or you could check the FAQ section, which includes this little tidbit:

Quote
Q. How to get past "USB init, open device failed" ... "you don't have privilege to access" error.
Code:
cd ~/git/vthoang/cgminer/
sudo usermod -G plugdev -a `whoami`
sudo cp 01-cgminer.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/
sudo reboot

That's one of the small-order price breaks available when ordering direct from laura@gekkoscience.com
1060  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R808 Miner Official Support Thread on: March 06, 2018, 05:08:31 AM
The "make -j 2" line is where it compiles the program. Once that line runs, your terminal should be pointing to the folder where cgminer was compiled.

After that, you run the "./cgminer -o"whateverelse line like under the "How to Run" part of the post. With your pool configs instead of the sample ones.

If you're following the directions and somewhere you think you're required to click on something with a mouse, you're probably doing something wrong.

Also what you're doing is not coding, has very little to do with coding, so coding knowledge is mostly irrelevant. What you want to learn is how to navigate a Unix/Linux terminal. Basically equivalent to DOS shell in Windows, just a whole lot better.
