The instructions in the first post are about as simple as it gets.

What errors are you seeing?

If it's because of -O2 I'm gonna laugh because I've lost count of how many times someone has made that mistake.

Naw, I did read thru a couple pages and found that out. My RPI just doesn't recognize any usb plugged into it. I'm sure I'll come across a solution on this thread eventually. Only like 83 more pages to go tho.

My RPI just doesn't recognize any usb plugged into it.

Not sure I've come across that one. Not even keyboards or thumbdrives?

This is so frustrating. Lol. When I add dwc_otg.speed=1 into the cmdline.txt my keyboard goes dead but my USB mouse still works. And my USB hub still isn't detected. I wish I learned all this stuff when I was a kid so I wouldn't feel like such an idiot now.

That's great, but tech support doesn't really care. Maybe you should mention it in the sales board.

Is there a way to search for answers to what are likely common problems asked anytime in the 14-month history of this thread?

Yes there is.

A way to search for answers, I mean.

For your question, no you pretty much have to pull the stick. Might be possible if you know which points on the board to short across and jump-start the string, but it'd only work right under certain conditions. Best to just pull the stick and re-insert.

Believe me @sidehack, I did search to avoid such answer.

Now even after buying a good powered hub the 2pac keeps going OFF even after few days of running perfectly, with 2 fans directed on the single 2pac being used, I did try all sides of the voltage knob and yet I still get OFF issue!
Isn't there a more illustrated graphical guide to setting the correct voltage?

Or how do I detect the current-voltage needed for the 250Mhz or 150Mhz?

Too bad searching FAQ section of the first post for "OFF" or "voltage" doesn't turn up references to an illustrated graphical guide to setting the voltage. Also too bad there aren't charts in the first post that give you suggested voltages (and expected current draws) for given frequencies like 250MHz and 150MHz.

The answer to just almost every question ever asked in this thread is "read the first post".

If you don't feel like reading the first post, or any of the rest in this thread, try this: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=frequency+settings+gekkoscience+2Pac. The first option is usually the best.

thanks for the friendly response. i already landed on the first page on this thread before posting and i felt like i could not find the answer i was looking for. so by posting here i was hoping to someone i could engage in a conversation as there is bound to be further questions that i'd like to ask.

if new comers like me irritate you, why do you bother to reply at all?

i cant see on the first page that frequency is mentioned like so:
--gekko-2pac-freq 150

but i'm not sure of how to use this in practical terms. i mean... i was expecting there to be a config file to edit or something.

=================
=How to Run=
=================

Run syntax:

*nix [if not root level privileges, see Q&A]
./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://pool.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1BURGERAXHH6Yi6LRybRJK7ybEm5m5HwTr -p x --suggest-diff 32

Windows
cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://pool.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1BURGERAXHH6Yi6LRybRJK7ybEm5m5HwTr -p x --suggest-diff 32

OS X
cgminer -o stratum+tcp://pool.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1BURGERAXHH6Yi6LRybRJK7ybEm5m5HwTr -p x --suggest-diff 32

-- snip --

===============
=Basic Q&A / Troubleshooting=
===============

Q. How can I set a different frequency for the 2Pac vs the Compac?

cgminer will accept one or both parameters for the stick.
--gekko-compac-freq 200 --gekko-2pac-freq 150

Note how, in the run syntax, it gives you a sample command line to start. You edit this with your own pool configs. Note also the --suggest-diff parameter. Then note that setting frequency is --gekko-2pac-freq; does it look a bit familiar? Try adding that to your command line but change the number.

And if it still doesn't work, go read a tutorial on command line interface and try again.

Like I've been saying for over a year now, the answer to just almost every question ever asked in this thread is "read the first post".
