1041  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are You looking for x10 x100 return in a months? on: May 24, 2017, 05:52:28 PM
With bitcoin scalling problem of transactions who doesnt confirms in 3 to 4days, Verge transactions are instantly. the dream for all bitcoin lovers.

There's quite a few coins/tokens with instant/near instant transactions.  What else do you seriously think differentiates verge that would warrant this, beyond it's low liquidity/market cap that makes it prime PnD territory.

I don't see this coin as an investment vehicle, but it does have the opportunity for whales to play with to make some quick cash, generally doesn't play well for the little fish though.
1042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner on: May 24, 2017, 05:49:00 PM
Is EWBF going to be ready to mine ZEN out of the box next Tuesday?  I've seen that miners are needing code updates for some newer Zcash forks, inluding ZEN.

This is the miner I've been using for all my ZEC derivative mining on Nvidia since it's rock solid and the fee is optional (even though I leave it enabled, the fact he allows us to disable without loss I find admirable).

1043  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: what is the future coin to start mining it ? on: May 24, 2017, 05:46:06 PM
Normally I'd say 1080s are WAY not cost efficient, but with the recent boom in prices AND the scarcity of lower cost GPUs they do present a very good option for those with the capital to plop down to build out rigs.  Plus they'll have a good resale value, even when all the 4xx/5xx cards start to get dumped later this year or early next year so that's advantageous too.

Only thing I dislike about my nvidia rig over my AMDs is their overall weakness on eth derivatives, since they are and likely will be doing VERY well for some time, it limits my ability to tap those.  I think unlike many miners though I don't instantly convert my mining proceeds to BTC, I typically hold.

With the rises I've seen in the past 6 months, if I'd held everything I'd mined since December 2016 I'd have A LOT more money than I do now, and what I have now is still a decent ROI.
1044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is ETHER really? on: May 24, 2017, 05:41:42 PM
I don't think so.  They aren't positioning themselves to be a future currency, but a future commodity, similar to oil.  Ether is planning to be the fuel to run the decentralized app future.  It's a little fuzzy to really see exactly how it will play out, but I think of it like trying to become the digital equivalent of the crude oil market of the current economy only for digital transactions.

So the same way you need diesel to get goods to market and gasoline to drive to the store, ether will be the token used to facilitate digital exchanges of goods/services.

I'm truly intrigued now that they're actively discouraging dumpers.  Could be a crafty ploy to push buyers to THEIR DEX listings, but it just seems to pass the sniff test more than every other WAVES airdrop I've seen.  Seems there's likely some tech/utility behind this token.
1046  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Where to find 220v PSU cables in the U.S.? on: May 24, 2017, 05:12:37 AM
Thanks Smiley  Fortunately I've done a fair bit of welding/shop work so I'm no stranger to 240v, and you're absolutely right, that stuff WILL kill.
1047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Where to find 220v PSU cables in the U.S.? on: May 24, 2017, 04:15:40 AM
I was about to install some new 120v breakers for adding systems, after reading this and given that my panel is in my room with my miners I'm going to forego that and set up with 240v now, this looks equally simple and more efficient.

Brilliant job breaking it out and explaining everything, THANKS!
1048  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking to build a small, 1 gpu (GTX 980) rig. on: May 24, 2017, 02:50:31 AM
I would not even look at a GTX 9xx series card for mining with any more, the 10xx series blows them away across the board by a lot.

I'm pretty sure the GTX 1060 6GB is pretty close to a tossup on mining performance for most coins vs. the GTX 980, the GTX 1070 DEFINITELY blows the 980 away across the board.

The only way I would even THINK about a GTX 980 is if it was very cheap - like $150-$200 OR LESS level cheap - and even then I'd probably take a pass on it.

Gotta agree there.  I had a 970 sitting in an HTPC when I started mining.  I ran it for a while but did some math and it was better to sell the card for cash on ebay and reinvest that into a 10 series card, the sol/s on the 1070s is almost double a 970 with less power used.
1049  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Should I be getting >24MHs stock? (480/470) on: May 24, 2017, 02:47:16 AM
27 is what i see people hitting with 470s after BIOS modding, seems 480s do 28-29ish.  It's kind of hard to tell for reference purposes reading threads here because it's not always clear exactly what model someone has and/or what mods they've done, plus I'm sure some is bragging about winning the ASIC lottery.

Anyway, I wanted to make sure i'm clocking in the right neighborhood since I've seen my total shares dropping while the profitability is through the roof, just wondering how much more I could push them realistically without spinning up more rigs.
1050  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Should I be getting >24MHs stock? (480/470) on: May 23, 2017, 09:59:18 PM
I have a mix of 480 cards from MSI and XFX and one lonely sapphire 470.  My 480s seem to not be willing/able to pull more than 24-25MHs no matter what OC settings I attempt in Trixx/WattMan/Afterburner.  I either see no change in hash rate/power OR the system becomes almost instantly unstable and I see zero hash rate.  With settings bumped I still get about 23.5 MH/s out of each 480.  I've tried putting the 470 into a standalone tower to play with to see what I can make it do and can get that up to 20MH/s with Trixx/Afterburner but that seems to be it's max.

I know the 27-30 range is reserved for strap mods, which I have great difficulty with since ATIWinflash gives me "no discrete graphics device found" on both mining rigs and in the standalone tower, so I haven't even attempted those.  Although I figure if I can't get the OC to work first, why push it with strap mods that may just make them even more unstable.

Thoughts/input/suggestions/snide comments?  Any input is appreciated, I'm a little frustrated.

For details sake:
MOBO are a mix of FM2+ boards - asus extreme series
All systems have 8 or 16 gigs of memory
running win 10 and have tried win 7
have patched the driver with atikdmg patcher
1051  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: By 2020 the top 50 coin worth $1billion each on: May 23, 2017, 09:50:27 PM
The way things are going I give it till September

Lol, if the trend keeps up unbroken maybe.  I think 2020 is a bit pessimistic honestly, maybe late 2018 to early 2019 barring a MAJOR downturn in the markets.
1052  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: TaaS — Tokenized Closed-End Fund on: May 23, 2017, 03:11:51 AM
MAYBE the developers were busy... developing their platform and didn't put as much urgency into a bounty program as the hunters felt should have been.  Seems clear that part of this was mishandled but seriously I've been popping into this thread for weeks and seen nothing but incessant complaining about this bounty program.

I didn't participate in the bounty so I don't really know what level of rewards are potentially forthcoming, but honestly it's FREE money in effect.  Bounties require minimal to nil effort to collect tokens/coins.  Chill out and let's talk about the token, the cryptographic audit they're developing and the potential for TAAS, rather than hammering the same thing over and over.

Once they've paid it out, AND you didn't get what was owed, THEN we have reason to gripe, ICOs are effectively Kickstarters, you don't always get delivery on time, what matters is they DELIVER.
1053  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PIVX] - PRIVATE INSTANT VERIFIED TRANSACTION - POS 2.0 - ZEROCOIN PROTOCOL on: May 23, 2017, 03:04:17 AM
In this world all things ride in waves.  When there are insane pumps in X Y and Z, A B and C dip HARD.  PIVX seems to be the loser at this point, although logic would dictate it's not unlikely this is the time the whales are priming their coffers so that when it catches it's next trade wind they can snipe in and pump it through the roof for some quick profits.

OR it's a dead in the water DASH clone that finally failed to get traction.

Take your pick.
1054  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zclassic - early split with 50% drop on: May 23, 2017, 02:09:45 AM
ZCL pumped leading into the fork, the drop is just an over-correction to that.  I'm confident it'll rebound , doubtful it will fully revive for a while though.
1055  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FACTS] You are a profiteer if ? on: May 22, 2017, 10:58:00 PM
There's plenty of ways to make money in this game.  You can be a die hard supporter and hold until the cows come home and that may pay off in spades (NEM millionaire??).  You could day trade or even just market trade casually buying in lows and selling on highs.  You can bounty hunt on here and tap faucets across the web to develop a slow and steady net worth, and you can mine/stake to grow your net worth and support the coin(s).

It's specious to say one is better than the other for any one person.  Do what works for you and what you are interested in or are good at.  Personally I dabble in all of the above.  There's some projects I genuinely want to support and have and will continue to offer my support for them because they either have great tech or a good vision.  Others I could care less about (ripple comes to mind) but still fares well for profit taking on the exchanges.

Why should someone pass on an opportunity to make money easily if it's there while still pursuing your interests and supporting the projects you believe in.
1056  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Black Swan Scenario on: May 22, 2017, 10:52:39 PM
I think many of the smaller fears I've seen listed so far like: terrorist attacks (of a small scale), virus spreading (electronic not RNA), regulation, scams/dumps are all accounted for to some extent in daily exchanging.  These things happen and will continue to happen and will have regional / coin specific effects.

It would take something of a global or multi-national nature to be a true black swan that could tank the entire crypto market as it is today.

I think the realistic scenario is more like what is upthread, with a continuing boom for several months to a year with a downturn of several months to a year to follow the end of that which will culminate in a new rise that will bring the market caps of the larger currencies to the point they can now no longer be dismissed and the government WILL step in at that point.

My thought is with the whales controlling the markets as they do now, and the overwhelmingly simple market manipulation they can twiddle out to make profits on top of profits they (the whales) are doing what they can to curry favor and/or suppress regulation.  Once the market is of a tangible size that market shifts could have real world economic impact that will come to an end, and much of what's been enjoyed AND cursed of this scene for the past 5 years will slowly fade into IRS/SEC/SS bureaucracy.
1057  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins in 2020 on: May 22, 2017, 10:43:10 PM
i think a lot of them are gonna be superseded by better ones. the amount of knowledge is growing by the day and the amount of weaknesses in current ones are too.

more brains are coming on line as the space grows bigger. they will come up with some amazing new stuff.

Agreed.  Although I'd say if you're going to bet, look at coins with large and strong development teams.  With new tech/use cases coming every day it seems, it's the coins that have the engineering heft behind them to implement these new ideas and systems that will succeed.
1058  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ScryptWaves 🅱 Combine the best of Waves and Scrypt Algo 🅱 Airdrop + Crowdsale on: May 22, 2017, 10:37:40 PM
Can someone please enlighten me how Scrypt would have ANYTHING to do with a WAVES generated token?  WAVES tokens are created and exist in the WAVES ecosystem and on the WAVES blockchain.  Scrypt is an encryption algo used for PoW/PoS coins and is distinct and separate from WAVES, indeed quite different algos altogether.

Combining these two things has ZERO inherent benefits beyond name recognition.  Will this token become mineable/stakeable?  If so, how do they propose to do so.  What is the actual use case here at all?

I don't want to be all FUDy but seriously, so many "hope for the best" "great project" comments are annoying at best and deceptive at worst.  I have yet to see an airdropped WAVES token campaign outside the "verified" projects on WAVES that hasn't been a complete sham.

I'd hope for this to be the BTC killer if I got a few thousand free tokens too, but what on earth distinguishes this token from WAAH, or Cinco de Mayo, or FACEBOOK, or any of the dozen other useless tokens I've received in WAVES??
1059  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QAU] QUANTUM PROJECT - Connecting markets on: May 22, 2017, 10:16:39 PM
Has the ICO began paying for anyone?  I'm seeing people have received bounties, but all I received was an email saying that redemption info was going to be forthcoming for redemption.

Just want to make sure this is still legit.
No one yet. I also received an email about the end of pre ico but no instruction on how to get the Quanrum tokens. The bounty paid to everyone is through BTC like in quantu signature campaign and the team have said that earlier to avoid possible dumpers to dump coins in the market so I think the bounty paying you said is through btc as well.

Thanks for the reply, and that's actually very exciting to hear about the bounty.  That makes SO much more sense than paying in the ICO token/coin.  It would be great if more projects took that approach.  I understand the PR need for bounty campaigns but the hunters can be problematic for investors to say the least.
1060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Who has rx 570's in stock? on: May 22, 2017, 04:09:25 PM
I was looking for most of the weekend and found nothing.  The best I saw was Amazon but they had a one month lead time.  Ended up getting some 1060s instead.
