10501  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin needs to be in a bull market before the halving on: February 27, 2020, 02:26:46 PM
Just remember that folks.
The Bitcoin market was bullish before the two previous halvings (hence no clear correlation in my humble opinion). But if you believe there is a correlation then it's important to consider other indicators, and not the halving alone.

How much my memory serves me, and according to the official data from CMC price of 1 BTC on January 1, 2016 was around $400, and it stay like that next 5 months until halving. I wouldn't call it bullish, and therefore OP assumption looks like another worthless speculation.

Price growth is realistic to expect after halving, especially in the last quarter of this year, but the new ATH not before 2021.

10502  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: BTC transfer issue in Electrum - Help me understand what happened? on: February 27, 2020, 02:03:38 PM
The payment method he asked for was World Remit, which was new to me. Register and then use your Visa/Mastercard to send money. The seller said the transaction with World Remit would be complete in 1 hour.

In this case, contact WorldRemit as soon as possible and ask to try cancel a transaction :

How do I cancel a transaction that I have made?
If you wish to cancel a transaction you have made, please contact WorldRemit as soon as possible. After a transaction is paid out we may not be able to refund it, so it is important you contact us as soon as possible to minimise this possibility.

Or even better contact your bank and explain what happened, I believe they can get the money back. This is not a BTC transaction, which in most cases is irreversible; the whole thing works differently when you use banks/cards.
10503  Economy / Economics / Re: World Bank Pandemic Bonds - How To Make Money On A Virus! on: February 27, 2020, 01:47:14 PM
stompix,

Quote
According to the PEF, around $75.5 million had been paid to bondholders in the form of premiums as of August 2019. The full amount paid in interest and coupons has not been disclosed. The bonds are set to mature in July 2020.

It is still about making money, because of this above, bondholders have already received the money, you completely left out the fact that them (bondholders) receive " regular coupon payments they have received on the back of the initial purchase.".

It is not only a matter of realizing the conditions of the pandemic and the numbers of the deads, but about how the whole set-up thing is, those who bought the bonds have already made money on them, and will earn even more regardless of the pandemic.
10504  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: BTC transfer issue in Electrum - Help me understand what happened? on: February 27, 2020, 11:46:44 AM
I guess 611 EUR goes a long way in Colombia/Venezuela... Maybe from his perspective, it's worth skimming a European who doesn't have her wits about her.

How 550 EUR from the first post turned into 611 EUR? And can you clarify if this money has already been sent to the alleged seller and what was used as a means of payment? I don't understand why you agreed to the transaction outside of exchange, and why you pay for something in advance (if I understood correctly that the money is already lost)?
10505  Economy / Economics / World Bank Pandemic Bonds - How To Make Money On A Virus! on: February 27, 2020, 11:34:44 AM
For some to profit from someone else's accident and death is normal and it is not a secret, that's what arms, drug or human traffickers do, and we can without any hesitation put them in the category of criminals who will make everything on their way to profit. But what about legal and world-renowned organizations that are supposed to help people and create a better world?

Most have probably heard of the World Bank (probably mostly bad things), but I have to admit, it sounds pretty ugly when you read that they have issued bonds related to the outbreak of the pandemic. The initial idea was that such bonds would help the affected countries, but as it now seems with COVID-2019 only profit will be for those who have invested in such bonds on time.

I will just highlight some of the most interesting parts of the article :

Quote
Despite the fact that the so-called pandemic bonds look set to result in a payout to developing countries, critics have said the conditions are too stringent and that investors have already made money on them due to the regular coupon payments they have received on the back of the initial purchase.
Bodo Ellmers, the director of the Global Policy Forum's sustainable development finance program told the Financial Times the instrument was "useless."
"You obviously want to prevent a pandemic but it only pays out when it becomes a pandemic," he said.

According to the PEF, around $75.5 million had been paid to bondholders in the form of premiums as of August 2019. The full amount paid in interest and coupons has not been disclosed. The bonds are set to mature in July 2020.

Even if some developing nations do end up receiving pandemic bond money, it will be a relatively trivial sum when compared with some estimates of the economic damage a sustained coronavirus pandemic would do to developed and developing economies alike.

https://www.dw.com/en/investors-flee-from-controversial-pandemic-bonds-with-coronavirus-set-to-trigger-payout/a-52539926

As you can see in the above, investors have already made quite a lot of money, and they will earn even more, which of course will not even be made public. Those for whom these bonds were supposedly invented will get some dust, maybe ...
10506  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: BTC transfer issue in Electrum - Help me understand what happened? on: February 27, 2020, 10:33:29 AM
Hanna, for start check your balance in Electrum, 550 EUR is not small amount and if your wallet is sync then you should see that your balance is changed and you should see that transaction in Electrum history tab.

These are things that can be proven very easily, do not pay anything, regardless of the merchant's alleged reputation. After you post the transaction link and determine that your receiving address is indeed part of your wallet (click address tab in Electrum - do you see that address?) we can conclude what really happened.
10507  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling a batch of iphone 11 and iphone 11 pro on: February 27, 2020, 10:14:45 AM
I hope you understand now why such a price

I totally understand what this is about, and no matter how much you try to portray it as legal work, it's pretty far from that. After all, ask yourself why someone would buy a device from you at almost the same price for which he or she could buy it legally at his or her local store?

I hope you understand why things like this don't attract customers, at least those who think logically.
10508  Other / Meta / Re: List of advertising shills. Mods please review and ban as appropriate. on: February 26, 2020, 02:55:17 PM

This seems at first glance to be an alt account of :

User:   JessicaVL
Shills a variety of projects, including "tap.global", "eToro.com", "4king.com" and "vertex.market". Starts a lot of copy and paste threads in Bitcoin Discussion. Also makes lots of low value posts in other user's threads simply to include a link to one of the shilled projects.

ElizabethA is start with posting same links as JessicaVL, only 3 days after JessicaVL is stopped, maybe the reason is ban. Either way, this way of advertising no longer pass under the radar, and all who go down this path will face the same fate.
10509  Other / Archival / Re: First Newbie of 2019 who received 1000 merits !!!! on: February 26, 2020, 02:38:28 PM
Congratulations on your achievement, you are proof that there are exceptional members who can get over 1000 merits in less than a year.

I would also like to dispel the myth that merits can only be earned by a pro, techie or if you know and are friends with sources of merit. Again, I will say by my own example that I came to the forum in the local section, I didn't know anyone, I came here not to share my knowledge (except for trading), but to receive it.  I am not a techie, not a developer, or a bitcoin expert. That's why it doesn't matter. What is important is your contribution to the forum.

What I notice is that at least 90% of yours merits is come from your local board, which shows two things. The first is that the board is quite active, and the second is that your local members appreciate your work. So I think you are a specific case, and you have found a way to build your reputation in the local forum board.

As for some recognition on other parts of the forum, I have to admit that you are completely unfamiliar to me for obvious reasons, and probably some other members will confirm this.

The conclusion would be that such success would be much harder to achieve if you only post in the English section of the forum, but not to misunderstand me, I do not diminish your success, local boards are very important for forum.
10510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UEFA Tickets to be distributed via Blockchain! on: February 26, 2020, 02:17:51 PM
What would really be news is that UEFA makes it possible to buy tickets with Bitcoin, then it would have something to do with crypto and would be worth discussing. This looks like some sort of attempt to control ticket sales, and that the whole process as many automates and to save on paper ticket production.

Those that do use it, do have to install a specific App and activate their Bluetooth in order to allow for the steward to activate and validate the ticket at the gates. I wonder what the B plan is if someone who purchases a ticket and uses the App has issues with the Bluetooth pairing/permissions …

From what I read, there will be no need for staff to activate tickets, they will activate themselves when the visitor approaches the stadium (if BT is on), and staff will only check QR codes on mobile phones.

Quote
The new state-of-the-art mobile ticketing system will provide secure ticket distribution and help prevent the replication and duplication of tickets, with QR codes only being activated by Bluetooth once fans are in close proximity to the stadium.
10511  Bitcoin / Press / Re: Swiss municipality (Zermatt) tax office now accepts-bitcoin! on: February 26, 2020, 01:49:49 PM
And when in other countries this will begin to do?

Firstly there is no need to quote the whole OP, and secondly try to be a little more constructive with your questions/answers.

Other countries may never follow the example of Switzerland regarding Bitcoin, because they are still far from the degree of democracy and human rights that rule there. What most of the world regards as democracy is in fact an apparent democracy, in which people decide every 4 or 5 years in elections. Switzerland is far more advanced than that model, the people deciding whenever they want through referendums.

We can also say that they do not see BTC as a threat, unlike most others, so it will take some time for some other countries to move in this direction.
10512  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling a batch of iphone 11 and iphone 11 pro on: February 26, 2020, 11:37:29 AM
I work at customs and recently arrived a container with apple products.  And by chance, a small amount of iphone 11 and iphone 11 pro fell into my hands.

I see you are smart!  Who said that they were confiscated, and not obtained in any other way?  The MARKET price is really like that, they are all sealed, I can activate and show that it is normal and the world guarantee from apple

I do not know how any person working on customs can come into possession of a shipment that was sent to someone unless the same shipment is seized for some reason? If something fell into your hands, in a specific case I do not see that it could have happened in a legal way.
10513  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Flaws in 4G/5G - Interception of calls and messages! on: February 26, 2020, 11:11:28 AM
Stedsm, this is about the interception of mobile data, which with the help of special equipment can be used for illegal purposes. So everything that travels by air can be intercepted in some way, which does not mean that any data can be misused because they are encrypted. However, I think that such flaws (and some other unknown ones) are mostly used by the secret services of all countries of the world in spying on bad people, but of course there are abuses as always.

Regarding one-time password (OTP) via e-mail, it should be much safer than 2FA SMS. Although they are known cases that some users of blockchain.com (info) are hacked no matter what they used e-mail verification. But this probably has nothing with this flaws in mobile networks standard.

Some may say that I am too paranoid, but for all sensitive operations I use exclusively my landline internet connection, although in exceptional cases I need to use a 4G mobile network, but only thing that I'm worried about is crypto security. So no 2FA over SMS, and hardware wallet (Nano X) as mobile wallet provide me with a satisfactory level of security.
10514  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Flaws in 4G/5G - Interception of calls and messages! on: February 25, 2020, 03:50:09 PM
Bttzed03, as I mentioned earlier, these are the attacks in which the victims are targeted, which means that you have to be relatively close to someone, have the necessary equipment and knowledge to carry out such an attack.

As far I know Google codes can be sent via SMS, by voice call or via mobile app, which would mean that they are in part vulnerable to such attacks. If you are interested in the technical details I suggest you read the article and also the link at the bottom of the article that leads to the previous research.

There is no room to panic, this is just a warning that the things we take for granted are not exactly what they seem.
10515  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 25, 2020, 03:30:59 PM
I agree, I don’t care what anybody says. It wouldn’t surprise me if this whole thing is some government bull shit to cover up a massive trade deal disagreement between China & the US.
Don’t believe everything you see in the news, it’s there to brainwash normal people.

We live in a world where very few things happen by chance, and those who analyze the situation a little deeper see that there are a lot of illogicality that are constantly being sold to us as truth. Everyone who is inclined to think critically is said to be developing conspiracy theories.

For me it is completely unprofessional that quarantine is carried out in a way that thousands of people are evacuated from China, and that doctors adhere to the assumption that the incubation period is 14 days, which of course turned out to be completely wrong. People can develop the disease after three weeks, and all the while are carriers of the virus. Protective measures are literally ridiculous, these protective masks that people wear cannot stop viruses, but are intended for bacterial protection.

It is an indisputable fact that China has the greatest damage from the virus, their economy is working only at 50%-60% capacity, and I think the rest of the world is pretty much affected by this situation.
10516  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling a batch of iphone 11 and iphone 11 pro on: February 25, 2020, 03:10:36 PM
I cannot claim with complete security, but if something was seized by customs, then there is something wrong with those goods. It is very likely Chinese copies that someone tried to smuggle into the EU, and such things are usually destroyed. Even if it were originals, would you buy a device that has no warranty?

Price for iphone 11 pro is from $999, and iPhone 11 Pro Max is $1099 - OP price is $1050 Roll Eyes

10517  Other / Beginners & Help / Flaws in 4G/5G - Interception of calls and messages! on: February 25, 2020, 02:56:11 PM
Although various researchers have already warned about security vulnerabilities in the 3G network, it seems that problems continue to be detected in 4G and even in the 5G network, which should logically correct the flaws from previous standards.

If one wonders what the consequences are for users who may become victims of 4G/5G network hacking, read the following :

Quote
Torpedo opens the door to two other attacks: Piercer, which the researchers say allows an attacker to determine an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) on the 4G network; and the aptly named IMSI-Cracking attack, which can brute force an IMSI number in both 4G and 5G networks, where IMSI numbers are encrypted. That puts even the newest 5G-capable devices at risk from stingrays, said Hussain, which law enforcement use to identify someone’s real-time location and log all the phones within its range. Some of the more advanced devices are believed to be able to intercept calls and text messages, he said.

From this it follows that the greatest threat to crypto users is intercept of SMS which some use as 2FA on crypto exchanges. Of course, this is a targeted attack that does not require excessive knowledge and requires equipment that can be purchased for as little as $200. Unfortunately, repair of such flaws is only possible by replacing the hardware on the part of the operator and on the part of the user, which of course is completely impracticable at the moment.

Advice for anyone using mobile networks and crypto is to be on the lookout, especially if it is public knowledge that you own a significant amount of money in crypto.

10518  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reminder for staking!! on: February 25, 2020, 02:22:19 PM
I remember staking my bitcoin address there but can't find the post. I don't know where I saved the private key for that address too!

Searching by your name khaled0111 in topic listed in OP, there are no results for your profile. That means you never post there, or your post is for some reason deleted. Another possibility is that you changed your name.

All in all, you don't seem to care too much about the security of your profile, which means that in the event of a hack, you have exactly a 0% chance of getting your profile back. Fortunately, you can easily change that, just sign the address and this time don't forget where the private key is stored.

10519  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Having secondary/multiple accounts purpose is..? on: February 25, 2020, 12:22:31 PM
I can agree with a good part of what is stated in previous posts, and it definitely makes sense to me that for some situations an alt account is quite appropriate. I'm not personally logging into this forum on my smartphone, but if I were to do that, I'd definitely make an alt account for security reasons.

I understand some other reasons for alt accounts, but I personally do not support using alt accounts and participating in signature campaigns (regardless of the fact that this is not the same campaign), because if one user takes say 3 places in 3 different sig campaigns, is it fair to someone else? From an ethical and moral standpoint it is definitely not, but the world is a cruel place, and the forum is no exception.
10520  Other / Meta / Re: Ban evasion (account fxsurfer) on: February 25, 2020, 11:56:46 AM
It's probably the same person, but without solid evidence, no one will ban him regardless of what he posted on the forum, or his opinion on what Bitcoin really is. As I see the user in question can not be accused of ban evasion through connections with an address, but he/she maybe is not using TOR/VPN, so admin can check is there any match in IP address.

In the meantime, it's best to use the Ignore option, any further interaction really doesn't make sense.
