So we have ranged between 43k and 62k for 40+ days.

well from 2/8 to 3/22 is 42 days.

so if you use that as the range we are closer to the top number 62 and not the bottom number.

For me as a miner it is stupid good to stay in this range as long as we can.

It simply looks sideways with an upwards tick.

Much like a banana looks more like a banana than anything else.

We can read what ever we want but this is what I see.

O.k. It seems that we largely agree about what we see, but surely have differing ways of attempting to describe it and also differing ways of anticipating what remains probable, possible and/or likely to happen next.. and yeah, none of us have a crystal ball exactly, but it does remain important to consider both macro circumstances in which ongoingly peeps (including new ones) are getting into bitcoin (retail, already richie peeps and institutions) and also that since about September the "banana" or whatever you want to call it has been "happening."  So, yeah there might be a number of days or weeks or even close to month gaps between each time that king daddy has been touching upon new ATHs (starting since about November/December).

So, yeah, it seems important to consider when the last time an ATH had been reached and surely are we going to have another ATH soontm.. or are we going to coil for a while before attempting to strike the ATH again. or are we going to trickle down for a bit and have a correction...

So, yeah, I will also quibble with you a bit too Phillip in regards to your using $43k as a kind of measuring point in terms of the "range" that we are in, currently... because sure, at one point $43k was a place that we had needed to break above but we clearly broke above it about 6 weeks ago, and whether that price point really has any significant meaning at this time, besides being pulled out of your ass (hahahahahahaha), seems to remain a question future happenings rather than something that is actually grounded in the current dynamics of our lil king daddy fiend.. sure something might happen in regards to $43k... but something might happen in regards to $20k, too.. .. but still $20k seems to have about as much important as your seemingly randomly selected $43k.. in my humble bumble opinion.

By the way, I will admit that my use of $52k/$53k as the bottom of our current price range may also seem a wee bit random, and sure such range (or bottom of the current range) does seem to me to be a bit of a moving target, and likely more measureable from how far we have gone UPpity and how fast we have gone UPpity rather than attempting to measure from where we had been and whether those earlier price points might be relevant at this time.. and yeah we may well come to differing assessments regarding relevancy of earlier price points that we had crossed and the way in which we had crossed those earlier price points (suggesting whether there might be some kind of need or compelling inclination to retest them once BTC's price momentum starts to go in that direction).

To me, it does seem that when we are at the top of any price range that we happen to be in that is making new ATHs on a fairly regular basis, then anything less than around 15% price corrections (calculating from whatever latest ATH may have happened to hit) seem to be largely noise.... and going beyond 15%, such as going to $43k (which is 30%-ish) seems to be somewhat random in terms of whether BTC is likely to correct to that particular level or some other level, and surely historically we have seen all kinds of percentages of corrections that do not necessarily magically hover around 30%, even if that might feel like a nice random correction level to select.. but in the end, we could get a price correction that is anything from 15% to 60% and then end up hovering somewhere in the middle of that correction area and not even hovering at one point before dee kingie either decides to resume UPpity or decides that there is not enough buy support to keep it going UP or to even keep it flat and we end up in some longer period of DOWNity (or flat that is somewhere within a much greater than 15% correction place.. and perhaps in a 30% or even ending up in a greater than 50% correction area).

Of course, currently, many of us are considering that any BTC price correction greater than 50% is not very likely in the coming 3-18 months (apart from a flash dip).. given the ongoing macros and other factors already mentioned... so yeah, 30% may be a fair round about range to consider.. even though seemingly somewhat random in terms of attempting to figure out 1) where we are at, 2) how we got here and 3) where we might end up going, somewhat based on the first two.

Probably I have ruffled you enough for now.. hahahahahahaha.. #nohomo

I had to read this a few times.

The 43k bottom I picked was the rise point of a really big candle back on feb 8.
We have not dropped below that point and meandered upwards slowly but surely since then.

Your 52/53 floor works but tightens the time line more then I would do to say essentially what you are saying. The chart a few above  by sayeds56  gives  a more visual impact of what I am describing.
10582  Economy / Economics / Re: Over the Past 300 Years, No Fiat Money Has Escaped Going to 0 on: March 23, 2021, 12:12:52 AM
Aren't you forgetting about the British Pound? It lost a lot of value over the year but I don't think it ever went to 0.

Even if we changed it to 99% of fiat money crashes every 300 years, does it mean we have to wait for it to happen? The Lira is dying as we speak but it won't make people lose everything if they get rid of it and invest.

So 1720 the pound had a value of above zero

2021 the pound has a value of above zero.

So topic title is false.

Maybe switzerland 🇨🇭 has also done it.

Not sure about any other place.

Maybe not the swiss. looks like the swiss franc dates to 1798.

Usd dates to maybe 1781 not 1776.

but the pound certainly makes title wrong.

10586  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much lower you think BTC can go in this drop ? on: March 22, 2021, 10:18:36 AM
Hi Guys i would like some opinions, in this drop how low can btc go before it starts going up again , any idea what is the resistance or what could the bottom floor be for it ? I was hoping around 40-42k but it seems that it does not want to go below 47k , what do you think ? Thank you

I think you simply are imagining a drop.

look at this set of numbers

The most like case is we ae moving sideways and slightly upwards for months to come with a strong up tick in the fall.

We do not see real bears until Jan-Feb 2022 maybe a bit later  say eat spring of 2022

until then buy what you can afford once a week or once a month,
10587  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wait for the dump on: March 22, 2021, 10:11:33 AM
Bitcoin is dumping!! Is this going to a repeat of 2017? Remember what happened in March when covid hit? The second wave is here and btc has been pumping despite that. What do you guys think? $100k still happening this year?

Terrible advice so far.

My advice is DCA.

1) Buy 100usd worth every week

2) Buy 100 usd worth every month.

3) Just hodl for years to come.

4) Do not buy more than you can afford to lose.

At worst BTC will replace gold and go to 375 k- 500 k in under 15 years.

Tack on some inflation to that and we are in the 500k - 700k area by 2036

I don't quit understand how binance eth pool works, I'm using 93 mh power on the pool and here is the result after 24hrs

I got paid for 63MH, is there something that I don't understand? Or difficultly settings too high? Ok nicehash which is more accurate does 835M diff and binance is showing 2g diff settings, could that be the problem?

A good question for which I do not know why.

I could guess that your ping time is far and you lose credit.
I don't know much about binate pool as I mine at nicehash and viabtc.

How are Earnings calculated?
Binance
2020-03-24 07:19
Currently, the Binance Mining Pool uses the FPPS Settlement Model for BTC and the PPS+ settlement Model for ETH that assumes the Luck Value of completed blocks so the workers do not have to. Theoretically, Earnings and Transaction Fees are distributed to workers based on hash rate. The Settlement Calculation Method is as follows:
FPPS = Theoretical Average Daily Settlement Earnings * (1 + Transaction Fee Rate) * (1 - Mining Pool Fee Rate)
PPS+ = Shares / Difficulty * Block Reward * (1 - Mining Pool Fee Rate)
The theoretical Earnings and Transaction Fee Rates for the day can be found in the Block Explorer in the average Block Transaction Fee Rate for the current settlement period.
BTC Pool Fee Rate is 2.5%.
ETH Pool Fee Rate is 0.5%.

If their explanation is true some how you are dropping 30 mh.

The diff number you give should not be a reason for that drop.

10589  Economy / Speculation / Re: A 70% Drop May Occur after BTC Hitting Around $68,700 on: March 22, 2021, 12:44:06 AM
blah 70% drop blah blah blah.

The reality is we have only just begun to rally. I see 65k then 77k then a slow upwards sidewinder move up and beyond 100 k by the 4th of July 2021

All bears need to go backing hibernation until spring of 2022. We will be well above 180k by then and that is when the bears awaken.

I have offically joined the ranks of retired WO gentleman. Working just seems kinda pointless

I think this might be becoming a thing... my last day is April 2nd..  officially retiring early.  Sold a smallish chunk to diversify so that if we have an 80% crash, I can ride it out without selling the dip... but yeah.. mostly the same plan.   good feelings Smiley

8+ years later I'm retired with a close to double-digit $million fortune. What an incredible experience it's been.

Congratulations to all of you.

This could be an interesting poll -- who of us has retired thanks to bitcoin?
It's not my time......yet! too small of a fish.

Don't want to get into any of your specifics or your OPsec, but $50 per week for 7 years would have put relatively "small fish(es)" into a decent place... - nearly 22 bitcoin and a value of nearly $1.3 million - with "ONLY" about a $18.5k investment spread over 7 years.

There could have been a problem with anyone to attempt to be consistent in such investing into BTC over the years and even having some sense of frontloading the investment stake could have caused the BTC accumulation levels to become MOAR higher than those listed in the above linkening... and another thing would have been NOT getting shaken from coins at various points along the way - or temptations to sell some of dee lil fiends to try to accumulate more coins and take those selling actions at the wrong time or failing to buy at the right time (getting too greedy or to smart).

Another thing, as we have been discussing is trying to figure out how much is enough coins based on a variety of factors including ongoing volatility and expected volatility - and maybe another doubling or tripling of value could help... which does seem reasonably reachable within this cycle (odds of such may be approaching 30% or greater?  I know some peeps are putting odds of another 2x or 3x or even 5-20x this cycle at greater probabilities than I am assigning, but hey, I really hate counting any chickens before they are hatched - even though I am NOT at all in any kind of disagreement about either the asymmetric nature of the bitcoin bet or that the odds for having "great" upside performance in bitcoin seems to be way higher than any other asset that I can imagine investing into at this time).
I can't be consistent about brushing my teeth, let alone investing $50 per week or whatever over 7 years.

At least you are honest and admit to your limitations.
10591  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 20 days for Bitcoin on: March 21, 2021, 03:51:20 PM
In three weeks or so we could be saying goodby to 2020 for all 5 exchanges.
I guess that's a given. I doubt that we'll ever see less than 30K again.

I truly hope for this to come true.

40k plus from now on works for me.

10594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining with 60 / 120 threads intel xeons.... on: March 21, 2021, 03:20:10 AM
well the cache is 37 mb for each cpu.

so it means you will only run 15 threads for each cpu. maybe you can do 17.

as 2mb minimum for each thread. if you do xmr.

the best case would be say 68 threads 🧵.

I have a  ryzen with a 128mb cache it does about 29000 hash which is around $1.50 a day.

maybe you do 33000 hash and $2.00 a day.

note i do not know if you can get all four cpus to mine at the same time.

but it is cheaper than i paid for my ryzen 3790 threadripper and earns a little more.
i think it burns a lot more power.

10598  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Beware Linzhi Phoenix is a complete scam on: March 20, 2021, 06:48:40 PM
The company is really a BIG SCAM
The company is really a big scam
I found out about this website through linzhi.io
for several days they had on their website the link of linzhi.cn.com
saying that that site was their store, the strange thing is that above they had an email from sales @linzhi.io
A few days later they no longer had the link to linzhi.cn.com on their supposed official website, they removed it and now they say Store: Coming soon

In my opinion, it is the same official company linzhi.io or some employee who is behind these waves of scams, it is likely that they did not have money to start mass production and in this way they have opted for fast and free Financing without having to return it

I lost 23k and now they send emails to encourage us to buy more machines but the machines do not exist, they will never arrive
they never send tracking number
They do not respond to any email or social network, they are on Telegran and they only say now that they have nothing created and to be careful with scams
But the scammers are themselves, the funny thing is that they respond here saying that we give tracking number or order, but they do not deliver anything after payment, there are no order number or tracking number because it is a scam, there are no machines

If one day the product comes out, hopefully they will give us a discount to the funders or scammed by them

Sorry for your loss.

Unfortunately you seemed to have been duped by a scammer. I know it is a painful thing to lose 23k.

The actual company has clearly stated they are not selling the gear.
They have been stating this for months.

Most asic companies have been attacked by scammers that copy the website name and ask for coins.

Good luck in the future maybe you will get a better deal on some gear and actually be able to mine with it.
10599  Economy / Speculation / Re: We are going to lose 20% today on: March 20, 2021, 01:28:37 PM
Sadly the losers that did not get on board are hoping to create a flash crash.

To them I simply say the 2001-2008 Dow Jones had a 7 year bull run.

So BTC can easily have a 2 or 3 year run.

So Oct 2020 to Oct 2023 could be the length of this run.

We a top over 100k as no problem at all.

So simply buy now before the fomo really hits.
10600  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 20, 2021, 01:24:49 PM
This is our time

Our time to watch the institutional investors stampeding over each other for the last BTC spread across hundreds of exchanges. Microstrategy and Tesla have started this snowball where every fund or corporation is now shaking in their boots, thinking: What if our competitors are buying BTC ? They will start with a conservative 10% treasury allocation and once they'll fully understand blockchain, they will start fomo-ing in larger percentages.

This is what we've been expecting since the early 2010's. We fucking did it!

no not yet but close.

once we crest over 100k and simply stay there with sideways and slowing upwards trends we will be there.

The 2001 to 2008 DowJones was all bull a 7 year run.  I have zero idea how long this bull run will be but maybe just maybe we can see a real long run here 2+ years so sideways and slowly upwards would mean a maturing of the market.

I can still see 7-11 trillion as the longterm goal as BTC becomes the new gold.

And space mined gold is simply a far more common useful metal.
