1061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HUC] HunterCoin - Human Mine-able Crypto Currency GameWorld on: February 01, 2014, 10:20:00 AM
its not quite clear to me if i can mine this in a normal way with gpu, or that i have to play the game in the wallet to mine, or if i can do both.

both if you want

but then whats the point of playing the game when you can just point your rig to it?

Have a read at the game info. on the release thread, mined coins are a low % of coins, the majority will be collected ingame. Without looking I think it was 20%/80% ?

This is good as it means pointing my ASIC at it won't do me much good, (so I won't) and we won't have another stupid arms race. Anyone can get coins if they are prepared to work for them on a pretty level playing field. It's more fun than a box of fans sitting in the corner too Wink

Something I wondered when they offered hosting. What happens to those hosted rigs when they aren't paying their bills?

Our rigs sitting hashing at home are going to struggle to pay their way fairly soon, but we have the option to Ebay them before that comes, switch to something else etc. No extra cost to us. We have them in hand.

A hosted rig, it's going to reach that point quicker due to hosting fees. I can't see KNC eBaying them for clients or messing about mining other coins if you can't do it remotely.

More to the point, at what point do KNC say it's time to shift their own farm...while the modules have decent value? There's going to be a fair few modules looking for a new home at some point from them if they do isn't there? They won't want to be stuck with loads of worthless hardware if they leave it too late, or run them at a loss of course.

1063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 31, 2014, 05:08:02 AM
At this time I don care any more, pay a 1000$ for a board which give you back 400$ is insane at this difficulty increase speed

Yea, those crazy 17% difficulty increases. In spite of the fact that Bitmain, Hashfast, and Cointerra are shipping in quantity, the difficulty increases seem to be slowing down.

Perhaps this is just a temporary slowdown before more large increases, or perhaps we're starting to level off a bit.

http://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

That's easy to explain. The amount of hashpower added by new releases increases as the difficulty rises. 30% of 100 is much less than 30% of 500, so it takes more to move difficulty the same amount. It's bound to slow down if nothing radical comes along to some extent. The days of doubling difficulty each month should be gone hopefully.

Personally I don't think buyers are as keen to jump in on a new rig now as they were back in June/July, the rewards are not looking as good are they? People buying with mined coins seem to me to be the obvious buyers, anyone starting from nothing getting into mining would probably look at it as an investment much harder...with the ebay fools as an exception of course, but that hashpower would already be out there Smiley
1064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 30, 2014, 06:16:31 PM
To those who are complaining they can't use modules because they have jupiters with full ports: The jupiter wasn't advertised as being modularly upgradable. The saturn and mercury were. Yes, I believe they should sell more Jupes alongside the modules, but you purchased an item not advertised to be added-on to.

Among the miner producers that I had a pleasure/displeasure to deal with (4 different companies and 1 scam) they are so far the best. And this BS about upgrade modules not being available is actually BS. If you wanted to get some you did get some. I've got 3.

You're a tool if you believe that. You couldn't just "get" them, and despite their advertisements since day 1, still can't. KNC was deceptive and purposefully mismanaged the entire modular side of the business on purpose--as they later admitted. Originally the module boards were going to be produced continually for saturn/mercury owners, as wanted/needed, and limited ONLY to those verified direct customers FIRST, and if there were any left they would let anyone buy them.

KNC then, without telling the saturn or mercury customes, decided it wasn't worth their time or effort to waste an hour setting up database flags and controls to manage the customer-only sale, and simply opened the module purchase up to everyone in the world whether or not they even had KNC equipment.

In less than 90 seconds, they oversold inventory. Because they were bafoons! This screwed the majority of KNC customers, as many of the modules went to non-customers and were ebayed at 10x value in some cases. They also admitted in failing to properly notify the Mercury and Saturn owners about the sale which led to most modules going to Jupiter owners instead--the people who WEREN'T supposed to get them first-dibs.

So, NO, you couldn't just get them if you wanted them.

ASIDE from that, they were supposed to KEEP making them for Batch 1&2 units, AND for batch 1&2 Neptune, but haven't, and have rescinded plans for the Neptune.

SO much for buying upgradable units.

+1 Spot on.
It's too late now unless they sell for a couple of hundred.
1065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 30, 2014, 10:12:13 AM
Oh, and they weren't universally compatible either were they?

To my knowledge they were, I did not have to mess with them in any way.

Nov batch? I seem to remember them saying they weren't Oct rig compatible, couldn't mix and match due to different firmware?
1066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 30, 2014, 09:17:32 AM
Well I wanted some, never had an email, came home one night to see this thread with people saying they'd all gone.
Many to people with no slots to put them in their rigs. So no, upgrade modules may as well not have existed for me because I wasn't sitting 24/7 watching for them  and expected some decent numbers when they did become available and perhaps an email to inform me of the timing of them going on sale...to a day at least.

They know how many Sats and Mercs they sold, so they had an idea of how many to offer. Oh, and they weren't universally compatible either were they?
1067  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 30, 2014, 08:57:35 AM
is it possible they are hoping we just cancel all neptune orders so they can be done with us investdurrs??

To be honest that would fit their attitude since they got rich.... communication was awesome until the 1st Jup batch, fell away to almost zero.
Time to market was the buzzword, they never shut up about it, now it's secondary even though, if anything it's more important?

They had little real competition until now, maybe you're right, but maybe it doesn't matter because invesdurrs are done with them?
They no longer need us either way, we paid for their start-up. Wink
1068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 29, 2014, 11:34:08 PM
Been said already yadda yadda yadda but selling us upgrade modules instead of full units at this point is really friggin' stupid and a waste of time.  What are those of us with Jupiters supposed to do with them?  Not all Jupiters even have the expansion ports installed.

They should quit screwing around and sell some more Jupiters for super cheap.  They have made a lot of money off us especially those of us that returned for the Neptune preorders.  Speaking of which we deserve an official update on the project status right bloody now.

They should sell modules and Jupiters. They designed a product based on modularity, and 2 batches of it went out the door. They provided only a handful of modules total for the first batch. They then designed another generation of product, and sold 2 batches of it while the "modular upgrades" mantra was still listed as a selling point on the website. They took it off recently.

They have been somewhat deceptive in practice, of selling their equipment as upgradable, but refusing to provide said modular upgrades.

KNC, updates on modules and Jupiter sales?

Exactly. I only bought a KNC rig because it was supposed to be upgradeable with extra modules. Intending to let it earn it's own module upgrades. Too fucking late now. One tiny batch of modules which were probably RMA or something that sells out in minutes with no warnng was pathetic.
1069  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 29, 2014, 08:36:44 PM
Sorry for the temporary offtopic meta post:  WTF is wrong with you people? This is the KNC thread. If you want to discuss something which is entirely not KNC and entirely unrelated to KNC, do it in another thread!

Are you like a poorly house broken pet that craps wherever it like when it has difficulty crapping in the appointed place? Jesus.   Cut it out.

(I will be removing this post in a couple hours.  If you want to respond to it, send me a PM or open a new thread.)

[Edit: To clarify, I'm talking about the discussion of some totally KNC unrelated scammers.  The posts about the power usage fire are borderline and really should have been in their own thread— but at least there is an arguable connection to the high anticipated power usage of the KNC neptunes... so I'm not yelling at those posts, though I think the meter fire pictures would be interesting to a lot more people than KNC customers]

100+ messages were just deleted by the moderators.

Things will be better in the future.

how this happening...? I doubt KNC is are deleting these posts

joe threw the dummy out of the pram and tagged them all to moderators. Deleted. KNC can't delete posts lol
1070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 29, 2014, 08:16:13 PM
so Cointerra made it:
http://cointerra.com/pr-cointerra-begins-shipment-terraminer-iv-worlds-fastest-bitcoin-miner/

2 TH for 5.999,--
=> 2999,5 per TH, shipping in January.

KNC's 3 TH for 9.999,--
=> 3.333,33 per TH, shipping in Q1/Q2.

looks like this time KNC was the wrong horse to bet on.

I believe they are 1.7TH and the people who are receiving them now paid a lot more than $5999 for the honour of being in batch 1, it was $14,000

But yes if you order one now it will be $6K and your calculations comparing them to KNC may be correct, it just depends whether KNC do their customary overdelivery of performance and which one you can get first now. Cointerra is in May.. and KnC, well we don't know yet.

Looked to me  that the orders made now would be May delivery batch , so around the same period as Neptunes? Of course that assumes KNC don't produce a faster rig than their original spec which they have proved more than capable of (KNC modules were specced at 100GH and ran at 140 out of the box)  and they don't change their minds about speed being important. Also, the KNC horse has form. Already won a big race Smiley
1071  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HUC] Huntercoin PreRelease Info - Approx 7 days - Human Mineable Dual Algo on: January 29, 2014, 05:21:24 PM
And faster move times for players.
Perhaps Chronokings will have Wesnoth Silver Mage type movement for some player classes.  Smiley

But block times shorter than 1 minute would make it hopeless for humans (against auto 'destruct'ing bots).

It would be virtually impossible to play with block times under a minute, as he says, you need time to manually send your hunters to  where you want them to be, and when it's full of hunters that will be tricky since they'll be hunting you so you'll need to plan your route. For a simple game it's going to take some strategy to play once it gets going. Smiley

I can't access my mining rig to play on it, i can just ssh it.
Will it possible to mine on one rig and play on another ?

It's a game that runs on a laptop easily. Smiley

Congrats bro ;-)

Save 5% if we purchase using bitcoin? Like KNC do? lol

Happy new title Orama Smiley

Thanks, impressive. Mine's an Oct board, I thought it may just be Nov ones. Definitely worth a look Smiley
1075  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 28, 2014, 10:28:24 AM

still a little steep.. perhaps a month ago sure, but now I'd rather get a cheap merc to just move a few misfit boards I have and change the 5 board jupiters I have into 4 boards and overclock them higher (right now, 211 OC on 5 good boards = 806Gh ~970w at the wall and I only have 1000w PSUs... and my other 5 boards have two misfit boards.. an 8vrm board and another with a dead die..)

So rather throw those two boards in a merc and then overclock 4 good boards perhaps more than 211 on that jupiter

maybe after next diff the mercs start selling more

That's some going. Which boards were they if you don't mind me asking? I didn't think they would go anywhere near that or I'd have given it a go myself.
1076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 27, 2014, 06:04:12 PM
Upgrade modules will still piss people off, which rigs will they be compatible with? The past ones were Nov only weren't they?
This is the main reason I went with KNC, the modular design that could be upgraded. Turned out that was shite. Never got the chance.

The amusing part of all ASIC company sales is that if these rigs were any other item of half the value sold for XBT buyers would insist on ESCROW. Part payment would make more sense too....they easily cover dev costs with half the RRP....but they always limit batches and create scarcity, then a while later run another batch just as scarce, which leaves customers no choice but to bite that hook or swim away.

As for new companies releasing tempting rigs, no-one knows their story until someone goes to look, and it seems to me that people here are all over the globe so someone will be close to most companies. Instead of crucifying each other and risking scams, how much easier would it be to pay whoever is closest to go look? It would cost peanuts per donor and if it were to become the norm to get a visit who would bother attempting a scam ? There's no reason to refuse one for a legit company. For me to pop to Cambridge on a choochoo would have cost about 100 quid, there must be people closer than me by some margin. That's nothing spread between a dozen or more interested people is it? To be sure? Compared to the losses ?

Sad to hear Pheonix lost to this, and sadder to see the libel aimed at him.

1077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 27, 2014, 06:58:34 AM
I think a Neptune at 3000 GH will ROI in BTC as long as it starts hashing at around a 5 billion difficulty.

We'll likely hit a difficulty of 5 billion sometime in late March / early April.

I think more like 15 to 20 billion. It looks to me like about a dozen companies are about to deliver before april.
            BUT
All those noob miners and new btc users will also be creating "Dead Bitcoin days" driving the price up with a BTC shortage, as the usage increases, and the speculation increases..., which will save us in fiat returns.
Eventually, the transaction fees per block will also become a more significant value as the block sizes increase etc.... untill finally... After the last Bitcoin is issued, that's all that miners will have or need.... transaction fees.
Many good things to come in btc very soon.... Wells Fargo, Google, E-Bay, TigerDirect, PayPal, Borse, Forex, "Bitcoin ATM's", Campaign Donations, IRA's, Military and humanitarian aid, new exchanges popping up everywhere, and best of all, The Chairman of the Federal Reserve himself endorsed Bitcoin.  Need I say more?
I see a future, where there is no "Checkout" in stores at all. The device on the product has either been paid for, or not.. by scanning the QRcode with your android Dick-Tracey watch.... Soon.
Everyone will have a BTC wallet on their phone.
No more digging for change on the bus, or toll roads, or parking meters, paid toilets, Phone booths, vending machines, McDonald's, and all those other annoying places you seem to have to dig for change!
No more bank or store robberies!
No more pickpockets.
Disability "checks" will be deposited on the 1st every month in btc.
Real-Estate transactions will clear escrow in minutes.
There will be no need for "ATM"s or banks for most.
"Checking accounts" will disappear, and those using old fiat will be under suspicion.
Remember that time your buddy went to Vegas, had a blast, brought a hooker to the room, fell asleep, and when he woke up, his wallet and a kidney were missing? That's not likely to happen any more... except for the kidney...hahaha..  except, this time, they track down the hooker, and your kidney, because her wallet recorded a block transmitted from your phone, which was traced via GPS.
Someday it will be embedded directly in your I.D. ...Remember NWO?   ahemmm..., right along with a portion of the block-chain, and be solar or everlasting battery powered with built in retina scanners. Personalized advertisements will play on your phone or ID based on your past purchases and places you visit online as you walk around stores offering coupons and discounts.
This is just the beginning of the world's wealth re-distribution.
The blockchain will literally be transmitted pocket-to pocket(already happening), and some will find they've become sterile from being a wireless hotspot all the time....  lol
Just a year ago, a cashless society was a pipe-dream....   This is gonna be a wild ride!..... and the name KnCminer will live to the end of time.
Those with the most efficient miners will enjoy a residual income forever, which is probably why KNC is going hard at efficiency. Considering the rate of adaptation, and the rate at which coins are produced, leads me to one inevitable conclusion... HUGE price rises, ongoing, in waves, for years to come... Keep those coin folks. Facts be known, I could buy two brand new 2014 Subaru Foresters with the BTC I made from KNCMiner products, or a fixer-upper home... but I know better than to cut myself short by cashing them in.... all, and more than my original fiat has been removed from the pot too. It's pure profit from here on out....
May we all see our dreams come true...  Good night all.

Greedy bastard. Buy your Subaru's , live life and have fun. You gonna sit on a hoard of bitcoin then become old and can't or unable to do anything anyway with it?

Watch the TV series called "Almost Human". They use and refer to bitcoin several times in that show but it is all in the light of underground and illegal activities. Still seen as a negative thing. And god the last people we need involved in bitcoin is anyone to do with the American financial institution. They'll either rob us all blind or just fuck everything up they put their hands on. I happen to believe most politicians or anyone that works for the government is completely corrupt. That's why there is such inequality in America now. When you beat down a dog often and long it will over time eventually come back and bite. This hasn't happened yet and probably won't while I'm alive but I would love to see it.

Oh it has happened, just not recently. Russians , French, even the Americans bit back big time and got rid of their oppressors. Back then the only option was armed revolution, today we have other more civilized democratic methods thanks to the internet...which is why some governments control it so hard, and others spy on us in such a huge way using it. It scares the piss out of them because of the power it puts into our hands,

Assuming that it takes a few years fo bitcoin to start to become important in the mainstream, that's when the banks and govts will come down hard to try and stop it. Right now it's a slight worry to them, a gimmick. Given the changes it could bring if allowed, and the damage it could do to the old institutions they won't sit and watch it wipe their profits out.
1078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 26, 2014, 11:06:18 PM
Why is it that people think that bitcoin needs as many scam stories as they can manufacture? Fair enough when they really happen, but if those involved and knowledgable in bitcoin communities cry scam at everything from the get-go how the fuck are the people new to bitcoin going to ever trust it if that's all they ever see?

Every story detracts from the reputation of bitcoin, there's enough real scams and villains about just like in the rest of the virtual and real world without making them up for the media to latch onto.
1079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 26, 2014, 10:59:14 PM
Yes. But humour me and explain how buying a FUCKING MINER THAT YOU THOUGHT WAS FROM KNC, THAT IS FROM KNC is fraud?
I read their simple source code...it's the KNC site in a frame so that the ref code doesn't show. The easiest way to build a site to use a ref link without tons of work and copyright problems, it's done ALL THE TIME.

No fraud. Look up fraud. This is not one. It would be fun to see you report them, then the cops follow the payment...directly to KNC.
Who owns the kncminerS.com domain? Knc? No. Someone paid money, bought it to give themselves a financial advantage through deception = fraud.

I can't see KNC selling anything that will be worth buying now..not if you wish to break even, not even upgrades ..too late.
I totally agree. Upgrade boards are going to be worthless by the time they ship. I don't know why anybody would want them. Why not spend a bit more on an antminer, which hashes more than a knc board and it will still have a resale value in a month or two? As a totally standalone device, it's much better than a proprietary board for a device that is no longer being made (well, for the general public anyway Wink).

Fraud has victims, someone has to lose something, which is why it's a crime. Who loses here? KNC ? The buyer doesn't that's for sure. They could have bought a rig for retail price and got it, even got a refund. Their order from there is 100% genuine and other orders also show up on it that weren't made via that url.
Better report it to KNC then. They are at risk of losing a miner, a very slight one. I can't see them complaining about that though. That site just sells their rigs for them. Crafty, but not any way fraud or criminal. Just like any banner ad paid for by an affilliate on here or anywhere else ..they don't show the ref url either until you click them.
1080  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 26, 2014, 09:50:27 PM

That's it. That was on 17th, almost 10 days ago.

People have been asking for refunds, knc don't even seem to care to calm people's fears.

What is there to discuss exactly? Nothing.

Upgrade modules? Before they too become pointless?
I can't see KNC selling anything that will be worth buying now..not if you wish to break even, not even upgrades ..too late.
