1061  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Need advice for security, scalability, performance of an exchange on: October 31, 2017, 04:51:37 AM
You will need more than $50 in BTC to get the advice needed for your exchange project. What you really need is an expert consultant, and they dont come for the price you are willing to pay.

But try asking for help in Reddit subs of Bittrex and other exchanges. You might be lucky to get free advice from one of their technical support members.
1062  Economy / Economics / Re: Philippines will start Investigating Proliferation of Bitcoin and other Cryptos on: October 31, 2017, 04:24:59 AM
Politicians dont care about BTC or if his proposed bill regulating cryptocurrencies passes the Philippine congress or not. All he wants is attention and to get his name out there for the next election. Philippino Bitcoiners should expect more news about the darknet and how BTC fuels that market place.
1063  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud Mining - Legit or not? on: October 30, 2017, 03:52:39 AM
Genesis-mining seems to be legit, the questiin is only, how long. Hashflare was also legit but turned already paid lifetime contracts to one year. I think, you will have more profit, when you keep your Bitcoin and buy some altcoins and keep them. They will continue to rise because if upgoing acceptance.

The only reason why Genesis Mining is still around is because of its size and new monthly inflows of contract buyers. Cloud mining sites and practically mostly all miners are breaking even because of BTC's rising difficulty. If the price of BTC stops going up but the difficulty keeps growing, Genesis Mining will incur losses and might also be forced to change their lifetime contracts to limited annual contracts.

Its better to invest in BTC from my perspective.
1064  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When Can Bitcoin Be Mainstream? on: October 30, 2017, 03:27:27 AM
BTC is as mainstream as it can be and its growing from my perspective. We have bankers who are criticizing it, hedge funds that want to invest in it, millennials who are curious and interested in it and there are also some of my friends asking me about it. But its ironic that its the ICOs that are helping making it more mainstream.
1065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Burst weekly report! The future is bright! on: October 30, 2017, 02:57:41 AM
We finally have wallet version 1.3.6cg available after a few delays. I know these are not the updates that some of you have expected but the PoCC is always hard at work behind the scenes. If you are waiting for bigger news to pump the price then this is not the cryptocurrency for you. The PoCC is rebuilding Burst to be stable first. All the other big upgrades on it will come, but not this year.

Weekly Burst Report #9 – 10/29/2017

  • The PoC Consortium finally released the 1.3.6cg version of the Burst wallet, with the goal of making it more reliable, faster, stronger! It includes a quick sync (syncing the blockchain takes minutes instead of hours) and the MariaDB, H2 and Firebird backends. You can now put your Burst wallet on a USB stick! Windows, Linux and soon Mac compatible. Download it on GitHub.
  • The PoC Consortium made a minor update to their mobile wallet. A few bugfixes and 4 new languages: Greek, Hindi, Korean and Tamil.
  • Quibus made a major update for his Windows launcher. It is extremely useful for Windows users who want to install a local wallet easily. You can check the complete changelog and download it on GitHub.
  • BurstNation is going to launch its own standalone desktop wallet very soon. The developers are waiting for Microsoft to do the process of certification for it to be available as a windows app in the Windows app store. The sourcecode will be released as well.

You can use pool wallet's if you don't have a local one, f.e. https://wallet.burstcoin.ro/

Hi bTee, I dont mean to offend you or the operators of burstcoin.ro, but I would suggest that new users should use the more trusted wallet1.burst-team.us:2083/index.html#

But if you or burstcoin.ro are part of the PoCC or Burstnation then I am sorry. I merely want Burst newbs to use a safe and trusted service.
1067  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Hack Bitcoin - Let's Talk Real How its Done - Being Done on: October 29, 2017, 03:22:31 AM
I would like to indicate that 1 and 2 are not BTC hacks, but direct hacks on the users and the exchanges, not on the code or the protocol. The rest of the hacks you mentioned are possible but thats only in theory and they will remain that way until someone has demonstrated that it can be done in practice.
1068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.3 Fork block 92000 on: October 29, 2017, 03:04:08 AM
What does everyone think of Tor integration for Burst? It would be very useful for the market place if the vendors want to maintain their privacy. Another nice feature for Burst would be the capability to generate new addresses in the wallet. Its a very basic feature in some BTC wallets that Burst should have.

Good way to kill TOR for 30 seconds or so at a time, unless they've ramped their network capacity up a TON since I last looked at them.

Kill Tor? But Open Bazaar2 has started integrating Tor in their system and we havent seen any down time with Tor or Open Bazaar. Other cryptocurrencies have plans to integrate with Tor such as XMR's Kovri project.

It should be something the PoCC should study and look into from my perspective.
1069  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sent BTC to bitmixer2 and it's been over 24 hours and still haven't forwarded on: October 29, 2017, 02:52:57 AM
Bitmixer2? Is there any reason to believe that they are not a honey pot right now that was set up by the FBI or a law enforcement agency?

But, copemint, all you can do now is contact their customer support and hope for the best.Next time if you really want anonymous transactions, then start knowing about the altcoins that have them coded their protocol like Dash, Zcash or XMR.

1070  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: sign message Blockchain.info on: October 29, 2017, 02:28:08 AM
oh well, that is quite simple but Lengthy process as well.

Download - https://iancoleman.github.io/bip39/

Go to your Blockchain.info wallet and get you Recovery Backup Phrase from there. Now put that 12 words Phrase into BIP39 Mnemonic.

Now, you can check the Bitcoin addresses with their private keys and copy one of them you need. In case you don't find then probably you are not using the default account of the blockchain, go to settings --> Address check how many accounts you have there and change the account's field to 1 or 2 or 3 depending upon the list. Always Start counting from 0 as default account is referred as 0.

After that go to http://brainwalletx.github.io/#sign put your private key there and type your message to sign the bitcoin address. I know it is hosted on github.io still I would not recommend to use it. Better you download a copy from https://github.com/brainwalletX/brainwalletX.github.io and use it offline as it will be much safer for you.

You again hehe. Theres no need to make message sigining in blockchain.info quite complicated. All you need to do is go to bitaddress.org, create a new wallet over there and import the private key to your blockchain.info wallet.

Its much simpler for everybody doing it that way.
1071  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: How to Claim BTG from Blockchain.info ? on: October 29, 2017, 02:23:23 AM
Claiming BTG from Blockchain.info wallet is not simple as it was for Bitcoin Cash still, I can suggest you a simple but a bit lengthy method for it.

Download - https://iancoleman.github.io/bip39/

Go to your Blockchain.info wallet and get you Recovery Backup Phrase from there. Now put that 12 words Phrase into BIP39 Mnemonic.

Now, you can check the Bitcoin addresses with their private keys and copy all you need. In case you don't find then probably you are not using the default account of the blockchain, go to settings --> Address check how many accounts you have there and change the account's field to 1 or 2 or 3 depending upon the list. Always Start counting from 0 as default account is referred as 0.

After that Download a wallet that supports BTG and Import the private keys of addresses which had the balance at the time of fork. That's it
Now you can transfer BTG to an exchange and sell them for Bitcoins  Wink

Thanks for the guide. I will try this on my old blockchain.info wallet. But is that mnemonic converter safe to use? Sorry but I am moderately new to cryptocurrencies with only one year of being around the forum. Is Ian Coleman a trusted BTC developer or contributor?

1073  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: How to Claim BTG from Blockchain.info ? on: October 28, 2017, 06:14:32 AM
If there are BTG nodes online and miners, I dont think blockchain.info will support it all the same. BTG is not needed, it has no support from the community and the developers could be scammers. Everyone should be careful with it and dont let your greed get the best of you.
1074  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Are Exchances stealing your BTG? on: October 28, 2017, 05:58:40 AM
I was wondering. What is stopping exchanges that don't support the new BTG using your bitcoin and claiming it for them selves, without you ever knowing about it?

Like Bittrex and cryptopia, they didn't support the Bitcoin Gold. But what is stopping them to use your bitcoin to collect bitcoin gold, without you ever knowing?

What is your opinion guys?

Its your responsibility to know if your exchange will list and distribute BTG to their customers, and if it doesnt, then you can pull out all your BTC from there temporarily and deposit them in an exchange that supports it. But if an exchange said that they would support BTG but didnt, then thats when you can say that your exchange is taking advantage of you.
1075  Economy / Economics / Re: They are the silent majority. on: October 28, 2017, 05:53:20 AM
Some scammers and swindlers are very capable of descending that low simply to find a target to give them their money. CHshufen, if you are neither a scammer or a swindler, you still have descended very low by begging and taking advantage of your sister's situation to try to get some BTC from people you do not know. Stop it.
1076  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Marijuana and Crypto on: October 28, 2017, 05:43:36 AM
Why make your own, if people already created the platform for this? https://www.openbazaar.org/  Huh

If you say Marijuana will be legalized globally, would it not make sense to run it on a global market place like OpenBazaar? I predict a massive explosion in the use of these decentralized market places in the future, once people have figured out the benefits of using them.

Discuss this with the developers and run a pilot project on there, exclusively for people in countries where Marijuana is legalized. ^smile^

Are there darknet vendors who have started using Open Bazaar? How successful would their sales be in using Open Bazaar compared to the usual vending on a darknet website?

There also other decentralized market places in other platforms. Burst is one of them. If only there was a way to integrate Tor with the Burst platform, it would also be a practical alternative.
1077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Burstcoin [BURST] Price Speculation on: October 27, 2017, 03:45:55 AM
There was no proof that crowetic's beliefs are true. Rico666 has already replied to that exit post, which I will quote below this post, when I raised the same question in the Burst ANN thread. Every flaw and issue crowetic has raised have all been fixed by the PoCC. But thats according to rico666, and I am having faith in what he said.

But a debate between crowetic and rico666 would be needed to close the issue.

Certainly you refer to this exit post from crowetic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1323657.msg19868944#msg19868944

So to make some things clear:

  • Crowetic is no developer and has never been. I do not say this to discredit him in any way, it's a simple fact he also stated himself many times. He was sysadmin and he had (maybe paid) developers to look into things. So I would see him as kind of "facilitator", but not developer.
  • He is one man. So when you said "There were some developers who said..." you have blown things out of proportion. No developer and not plural.
  • Even Crowetic stated - and I quote: "I fully believe the algo is able to be exploited". Now while this shows a strong belief, it is nothing else than that: a belief.

Crowetic believed many other things in his "Exit post", which were partially true (like the network not being able to handle the max num of transactions without forking at the time of his post) and some which were not true because as a non-dev he had not enough insight into these matters.

Again, I would like to state that all of this is in no way meant to discredit him. It's only meant as a clarification, so that "Word of mouth" doesn't start to skew the facts more and more.

There were no developers, not even a single one who said that BURST is broken to the core. There was one non-dev guy who said he believes that.

Ok?

Now he also said he does believe some other things, which have proven to be untrue. Like BURST could only be repaired when written anew "from scratch up" and the similar.
That was provably untrue, because BURST today has already rock solid wallets/nodes - if you happen to use the right version.
https://explore.burst.cryptoguru.org/tool/observe (the number of valid nodes was somewhere in the single-digit percentage when Crowetic wrote his post)

If you look at the changes necessary to make BURST stable and being able to cope with max-TXs capacity, it was not that much. You just had to know/find where to apply your patch.

Nevertheless, in the meantime much more work happened on the BURST core. We actually started to make fundamental changes - which Crowetic also called for - to the code base to make it fit for future requirements. So the situation is not like "Maybe its better to give the PoCC more time to fix the core problems..."

The situation is much more such, that the PoCC and the remaining core devs have already fixed the problems that plagued BURST in July and are now already en route to implement things Crowetic wouldn't even have hoped for 3 months ago. Like DB independece, multiple DB backends which did require significant changes to the underlying infrastructure.

We are running a permanent TestNet and the wallet there is - intentionally - beaten rigorously. Because of this we have fixed errors and problems Crowetic (and others) weren't even aware of!
As problems of stability become a thing of the past, new paths open up for developing functionality and infrastructure. We are entering the "age of emancipation", where the BURST code base starts to be better in certain aspects than the original (and present) NXT code base. And this trend will continue - as we did already announce in our 1st announcement

Quote
We will change this and we will change it fast, because
even NXT has not the development capacities we are bringing to the
table right now.

Is there much work to do? YES! Is some magic ultra-rocket science needed? NO! Just plain old good software engineering, done by people with the skills, experience and dedication.

That's all it takes for now.

Of course, we do have some magic ultra-rocket science available when needed.  Wink

1078  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken members need to generate new bitcoin and tether addresses for deposits on: October 27, 2017, 03:26:32 AM
Ty for the update.

From my perspective, generating new addresses everytime you make a deposit should become the standard way of sending BTC and other cryptocurrencies to an exchange and others anyway. It simply protects your privacy. The whole world doesnt have to know what I do with my money by looking at my TXID in blockchain.info.
1079  Economy / Economics / Re: If the powerful governments wanted to, do you think they could stop Bitcoin? on: October 27, 2017, 02:55:02 AM
This is something which I've beleived for awhile, which is the prospect that if big governments and banks worked heavily together they'd be able to remove Bitcoin from the face of the earth. They wouldn't ban it, as that would be a tough thing to swallow for the American people as they wouldn't see a good reason to do that ( at least in my mind here) But they could just go ahead and regulate Bitcoin into oblivion, making it hard for Bitcoin businesses (buying and selling, trading, etc) to operate within their countries, or be subject to insane taxes, KYC AML and such.

Do you think Governments could kill Bitcoin?

Lets go back to China. With their government's absolute power over their citizens, have we seen them use a sufficient way to kill BTC? No we havent. They can claim that they will regulate it, suppress it or kill it but in practice we havent seen anything close to it. So, no. BTC, for now, cant be killed.
1080  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Marijuana and Crypto on: October 27, 2017, 02:38:30 AM
What kind of payments do the dispensaries take in your area? If they take Canadian Dollars and credit cards, then from my perspective you would a hard time competing with them if you want to use BTC as your only way of payment.

The only advantage you have is to operate like a darknet vendor, with no business permits and licenses and sell your stuff at a cheaper price than the dispensaries.
