Wonder why Chicago was never mentioned in that original to-do list. It's proven now to be a vital step, yet nada a word.

Explains why Josh's wife quit her job and hangs around the lab daily, hence always available for lunch with coders from Oz on tour.

Again, I'll be the troll and point out the lie.

Josh says this is "a mistake" caused by a newbie CS agent. Hmm... I guess BFL_Jody is also a newbie....oh wait...shes been around since the FPGA Singles came out and works as General Manager for Customer Service....oops.

What BFL reps need is a good class in how to lie effectively. Here is Jody pointing out the May to June timeframe. There is also a post on BFL's forums of Josh Acknowledging it.

https://forums.butterflylabs.com/blogs/bfl_jody/85-perennial-question-when-will-my-order-ship.html

Oops, but then again I am a troll for pointing that out. Yikes, there is gonna be some explaining to do. Cheesy

It's not like their offices are down the hall from one another. Sometimes there's a communication gap between what each writes in the official forum. Sabrina's new, still getting her broom closet in order. Jody has to make sure coyotes don't get her chickens. Josh is jockeying for position to take the first flight to Mars, hence putting in more hours in the air. Nasser's trapped in Paris, although he's planning another trip to Italy to be on hand to welcome in the new Pope. And Sonny is teaching two-year-old Indy how to scratch off Lotto cards.

Now, please leave these people alone, for them busy folks.

Bonus humor: I wonder if the bumping facility reads this forum.

It's that time again. Get yourself a glass of wine and some crackers, then pick 'em.

My satoshi's on the Irish dude.

Amazingly, this could be the first time in history that people (read social media) influence the election of a new Pope.

ET phone home?

Barack Obama took a shot at another Republican leader today, only this one can't respond since he's dead. But as it turns out, he doesn't need to. Obama knocked Rutherford B. Hayes, referencing the 19th president as an example of the GOP's history of "looking backwards." Obama cited Hayes' quote about the telephone -- "It's a great invention but who would ever want to use one?" -- and remarked "That's why he's not on Mount Rushmore." Ouch. Only Hayes never said it. A curator at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center said the quote, whose origins are unknown, is often wrongly attributed to Hayes. In fact, he was the first president to have a telephone in the White House.

But it's worst than that if BHO is starting to read SA's vintage Photoshopped page: http://www.somethingawful.com/d/photoshop-phriday/collectible-plates.php?page=17

10626  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon will ship 290 units by tomorrow, correct? on: March 01, 2013, 10:02:41 PM
OK, we can pretty sure that they did not ship 50+ miner one month ago. Yifu seems was lying about the shipping status.

Dishonesty seems to be a pre-requisite for ASIC vendors...unfortunately.

Actually he said they were *attempting* to ship 53 units.  It appears that the attempt was unsuccessful.

I count 24 units in that pic.  I hope you guys have more than that.

I hope that all the boxes visible in the background are filled with ready-to-ship units.

I see the unboxed units have their wifi antennas attached.  I hope this doesn't cause any Customs issues (they're funny about radio transmitters sometimes).

Proof of the attempt:

10627  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitBet "BFL Will Deliver" bet resolving soon, how did you bet? on: March 01, 2013, 09:47:25 PM
I just noticed that people lost money - even when betting on the right side!
http://bitbet.us/bet/7/bfl-will-deliver-asic-devices-before-march-1st/

Have a look:

E.g. this guy placed 50 BTC on "No" (which was correct):

21-02-13 15:50    No    710    50.00000000    146mo    49.93600046    1FRBb

But instead of receiving something like 100 (50+50) he did not even make his wager back!

Is bitbet.us buggy?

It looks like the bets are really heavily weighted. In other words, the first people to enter their winning bets get a lot more than the last, for the same bet. It does seem rather unfair that the last few winning bets actually lost money. Maybe Milk could tweak the weighting formula in the future to prevent that from happening with relatively even bets like this.

Let me get this straight! If I would have bet 10 BTC and won, all I would have gotten back is my bit if it was in some weighted position? I understand the weight aspect, but getting back less than what's wager after winning is not an ideal outcome.

Highly unethical and illegal in some jurisdictions.

What if goat is selling himself?  Shocked

Read the ToS:

Quote
Can a goat sell itself?

Although goats can be sold on our site, any goat trying to sell itself will receive 500 lashes with a wet noodle.

For the doubters, the following is an image of the noodle whip.

...Now you gotta get to work trading those books

I'm curious, where are you located, deeplink? If I were to make an off on a book, would it have to include shipping costs?

I will publish more detail and photograph(s) but I am currently waiting for the arrival of the books.

Edd, we will have to look at this on a per-trade basis, but you should certainly consider shipping costs when you make an offer. I am confident if the offer is good that we can come to some agreement. I am located in Europe, The Netherlands.

GULP! I sent the books to Holland to some guy named Quixote.  Grin

I've posted three times here now man, what do I have to do to get some coin?

Why don't you suggest something? Bonus coins, perhaps, if it involves a goat AND a chicken.

All you have to do is state: I will do __________ for X bitcoins.
10635  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Mt.Gox & Coinlab Announce Strategic Partnership to Bolster US/CA Presence on: March 01, 2013, 08:54:37 AM
And as for today we have 311850 customers (over 100k in the US)

Interesting.  That implies that although the USD transactions account for much of MtGox volume, the majority of MtGox customers are located outside the US.

And when you break it down further, it equates to each customer having ~15 BTC each or less, assuming 622,000 total bitcoiners. I guess about $5M cap is something to be in awe about.

I am impressed with the 311K figure regardless of what each/any have on account. It's possible there's a million bitcoiners in the wild, considering a rough extrapolation.
10636  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon will ship 290 units by tomorrow, correct? on: March 01, 2013, 08:29:51 AM
It's pretty annoying that Yifu's last activity shows him as online 5 minutes ago and yet no updates on the shipping of Avalon units have been posted.  Bad news would be better than no news.  Avoiding the question just makes businesses look sketchy.

Being first to market is pretty meaningless if you can't actually get units into the hands of those who've ordered.

Let me see if I have this right. They have no time to pen because they are too busy assembling, but have time to read several times daily.

That 5000 will turn into less than 4000 when the defective chips are excluded. So yeah, after all this time waiting a whole lot of people are just going to be waiting moar and they'll be understandably displeased.

Care to explain why you expect the BFL chips to have a 20% failure rate?

Umm...you want me to explain wafer defects?

Their competition didn't go with 110 and 130nm for their first products because they mistakenly thought higher numbers were better. Wink

Just like the thickness of sheet metal--the higher the gauge, the thinner the metal.

"We're excited by, and awed at the responsibility we have caring for our over 100,000 new customers..."

I need to get my head wrapped around this. This implies that Mt. Gox may have over a quarter of million unique customers, 100K of which (all unique) are US and Canadians. This blows my mind.

It truly reads 100K new customers and not 100K new accounts, for there is a big difference between the two statements. Remember the email dump? That consists of over 60K accounts, many, many, many of which were multiply accounts by the same users.

Good point! From what I've seen on YT, it'll be either 0% or 100%--nothing in between.
