10621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will alts crash again ? on: January 01, 2018, 10:32:29 PM
еvеry mаrkеt gоеs thrоugh cyclеs sо yеs а crаsh cаn hаppеn аgаin, but if thаt's а bаd thing оr nоt dеpеnds аt whаt pоint yоu gоt in. If yоu gеt in аt thе bоttоm оf а prеviоus crаsh, thеrе's аlоt lеss chаncе yоu'll gеt burnt by futurе pricе pull bаcks.

Ups and downs will definitely happen, everyone who does trading not only knows this but expects this. Booms and crashes are probably a little harder to predict than the usual ups and downs, especially since these cycles happen very differently in crypto. But from what I can tell in my personal experience, the booms tend to happen in strings, and sharply, with the crashes just as sharp, before sideways movement takes hold for a long time. Very hard to predict, and which is why I don't trade as much as I hold/invest now. Too volatile for me, but I suppose traders like that volatility.
10622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who will get 1 billion ripples at 11 day ? on: January 01, 2018, 08:14:20 PM
Ripple the amazing cryptocurrency alt with million and millions to lock up, give away, distribute and just do whatever the devs want to do. But hey, isn't that the lovely benefit of centralization at its finest? Oh and don't worry about your value dropping. The great leadership still has plenty locked away for promotion and future "institutional use". Keep on buying it, all of you, just keep on buying them and enjoy the ride until it all comes down around you.
10623  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Authorship - ATS did not payout all tokens on: January 01, 2018, 10:34:08 AM
Don't know why you guys bring this up again after so long. They seem to have paid some people, they did not pay others. All I earned from it was 75 ATS, which I was never paid. No regrets and no complaints. Lesson to be learned is easy. If it's free, it's probably not worth it. If they pay referrals, avoid it at all costs. I didn't refer anyone so I don't see how I could have been considered to be "fake" but all water under the bridge. Move on, look for other projects, forget this one ever existed.
10624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best new pump group ! on: December 31, 2017, 08:01:32 PM
The good category for this should be in services section. You're offering a service, right?

Word of caution, pump (and dump) groups aren't very well looked upon here. They tend to take advantage of newcomers and generally start well with a lot of hype, and generally end in huge disappointment for a lot of people. But since people are free to make their choices in this new era of decentralization, I guess you're okay to post about your group.
10625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 31, 2017, 04:35:52 PM
So as you can see, there is a notification at Kraken main site.

Quote
The service is under heavy load and performance is degraded. Upgrades coming soon. Read more.
https://www.kraken.com/

Kraken is now so down, that even trying to click and read that note is difficult.

Now when there is no xmr deposit addresses on my Kraken account, do you think they will claim that I have sent the xmr to an address which is not valid? Well that is not anyway true, I have been very careful about this issue, and checked that the deposit address is not even expiring, that it is valid for sure. Like it has. I have even the screenshot of it.

I recommend now everybody to be very careful with Kraken. I want my monero back.

The amount of xmr is not much in compared to my total xmr so I do not has to go too wild, but anyway it is a quite a lot in fiat, and will be even more in future. So this not really a funny situation.

Dude, this is all about Kraken and nothing to do with Monero. I can understand your frustration and nervousness, but you know the risks that you face when dealing with these exchanges. Anyway, you shouldn't need to worry much. I highly doubt Kraken will want to risk their reputation for a few thousand dollars. Just wait til it all gets better, then if your deposit doesn't show up, go through their support channels. Everyone has to be careful with Kraken and exchanges at any time. Hopefully you aren't using them to store your Monero!
10626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Digibyte?? Good or not?? on: December 31, 2017, 03:48:11 PM
its not totally bad coin, but there are many better ones for investment
i dont like that much community driven coins..

pivx, vertcoin, feathercoin, digibyte, okcash ... etc

i invested in vertcoin in the past, i really liked it
until i found that technology driven coins are more important

I on the other hand really do like community driven coins, for me the general sentiment of the community (minus speculators of course) is what attracts me to the coin. I think Digibyte, like the ones you mention (good picks too), are those that you need a lot of patience for, and are just good diversification strategy coins. But for long-term profit, and investment, you're absolutely right. Tech is more important, but with so many to choose from and no idea if the tech will realize, it becomes trickier to pick a winner from the pack.
10627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: December 31, 2017, 09:23:06 AM
When someone says that bitcoin is decentralized and anonymous, I see narrow minded shill.

Core of bitcoin is consensus, that is driven by China, see mining farms and asics.

Liquidity is driven by exchanges, basically people freedom is driven by exchanges, no exchangez no value. Exchanges work with guess who? Banks and other like FI that eventually work with guess who? Banks

KYC is where your anonimity finished, want more money get the KYC first.

Do not want KYC? Than you face scam, fraud and very limited liquidity, with lower market price.

This belarussian corrupted shill Litvin tells high level pink stories, but devil is in details.

XRP meanwhile transparent, with real use case, production driven coin. And trust me, people like Litvin will be the first in the queue to use XRP to send money to their family in Belarussia, with low fee and seconds settelment.

Fucking corrupted KGB looser.

I keep seeing people say how Bitcoin core is driven by mining power in China - yes, this is true if you look at the context of hashpower. But didn't we see this year how even that so called all deciding miner power still failed to get what they wanted with big blocks? Some broke off to do Bitcoin Cash, and others almost but gave up on the idea of Segwit2x. So consensus is still very much a powerful idea in Bitcoin, without achieving it, all the power and money driving it could not change it.

Exchanges don't work with banks! They may do so now, but we move still to P2P and soon decentralized exchanges.
10628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: I want your advice for investing in some cryptos on: December 30, 2017, 06:00:14 PM
Hi all,
I want real advice without any affiliation please
I have a plan that i'm stick to it since a long time, but i'm thinking now to make some changes and i want your advice. there are some cryptos that i want to invest on them which are (Publica, Change, Flixxo, Coss & Senderon) i'm holding a 600 IOTA and i'm thinking now to sell 400 IOTA and hold the others 200, and i'll take these money and invest them in those 5 cryptos. so i want your advice about that, is this new plan is better for the mid and long term or it's better to stick only to the IOTA.

You're talking about investing, so my main advice to you right now is - hold everything. You bought those coins with the idea to invest. They're in profit now, aren't they? I recognise IOTA anyway. Investment means you're thinking of long term potential, not short term profits. Those IOTA will drop, will correct, but over months and certainly years, they have a high prospect of appreciating even more.

If you want those other coins, they're all new and you should just invest new money to diversify. Hold is the name of the game.
10629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Binance fee is too damn high on: December 30, 2017, 05:02:28 PM
7$ withdrawal fee for ETH and 2 ADX ( 10$) ltc over 4$ is too much . high withdrawal fees for all currency ;( .
 Very disappointing.

I've never really complained about fees, as long as the fee they charge is actually the fee they use when processing withdrawals. My real annoyance with exchanges is they charge you a flat fee, but you get a transaction with a sucky fee, that is very very often much less than what they charged you. It's like they make enough from spreads and from commissions. Why do exchanges keep doing that? And see, everyone said come to Binance, but now they're making money, they're also getting greedy. Typical.
10630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Alternatives to Coinbase? on: December 30, 2017, 03:54:52 PM
Which crypto exactly do you want to convert and which country are you from?

I recently tried Luno and it seems okay, and if you are in Europe or you can accept paypal or bank transfer, you can even try services like BitPanda. Very fast, and no fees. Well fees are very small and included in the amount already so, the price from them doesn't look very good but since fees are all in, they end up the same. If you are only doing Bitcoin then Localbitcoins cannot be challenged for quickness and escrow.
10631  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Questions - Bittrex on: December 30, 2017, 10:14:11 AM
Bittrex is heavily loaded already, which is why they have disabled new account registrations, until they clear their backlog and hire more support staff. So do not expect this to happen quickly, and expect the same to happen to all major exchanges. Everywhere, they are getting new users every day and their time is consumed just dealing with these guys, especially with verification (KYC/AML). If you want to trade at centralized exchanges, make sure you fully verify before ever depositing. If you do not want that hassle, then you must go for decentralized exchanges like Waves.
10632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you buying altcoins on: December 29, 2017, 07:48:52 PM
I still buy sоmе аltcоin bеcаusе it is gооd fоr trаding еvеn it is sо tоо risky whеn yоu buy аn аccidеntаlly а shitcоin. Sоmе cоin nоt tоtаlly drоpping bеcаusе sоmе оf this, whеn it is stаrt оn mаrkеt аnd а gооd prоjеct if cоin, in just а singlе timе оf mоnth, it cаn pump аs а mаrkеt vаluе, sо yоu cаn buy а lоw thеn sеll it оn high.

When I was much "younger" and inexperienced, I'd have knocked you for saying that you could actually buy a shitcoin by accident. But yes, even with all the research available to us newbies, and with all the care we take, we can still make mistakes. Accidents, we could call them. I have had a couple of accidents, not exactly with buying shitcoins but by investing in ICOs that turn out to be poorly executed projects. I got dumped on, was upset at first and disappointed for a long time. But I now take this all as learning. Doesn't stop me from buying altcoins.
10633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple XRP is a complete fraud GET OUT! on: December 29, 2017, 05:32:42 PM
After this realization I had to give up on Ripple completely

how'd that work out for you?

Well come back and ask him over a couple of years once you have got screwed by ripple Wink just because the price have been manipulated now doesn't mean you have a winning ticket.  Sheeps get normaly slaughter when master thinks that time is right Wink

This types of posts make me feel bad about people who stayed away from something due to "principles" and because of those decisions, are stuck in a rut when it come to price and profit. Yes, I'm thinking of you Ethereum Classic supporters. Most of you thought it was an abomination to have the blockchain rewound so everyone would get their Eth back. I still respect you for sticking to your principles. And maybe there will be people who never use Ripple or Dash because they believe it was a scam. I still respect them too.
10634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: will Altcoins Survive on: December 29, 2017, 04:48:12 PM
Definitely, for some. To the refactored question "which altcoins will survive ?", I think one should start by looking beyond poloniex and dig into the purpose and applications of a coin for the long run.

Take IOTA for example. It's being used by companies because it solves an industry's issue that BTC can't solve and you can easily explain how to commoners without getting too complex.

On the opposite, I think you could put a question mark on altcoins that "just improve" what BTC is and can do.

I like this refactoring of the question. Altcoins are a mass graveyard of dead projects, some revived twice and even thrice, some just abandoned, others look like they are alive but will only suddenly awake and pump after 2 or 3 years. But which are the ones that will survive, which are the ones that will grow stronger, and which are the ones that will remain with us tomorrow, and ten years in the future?

And for Iota, great coin yes, but can they survive their bad reputation for trying to "cheat" people on their partnerships? Eth survived the DAO hack, but which other alt has the same strength?
10635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will ICO die in 2018? on: December 29, 2017, 08:35:45 AM
ICO will not die on 2018. The process will still be on going. Many people patronize and engage in this ICO because of its decentralized kind of organization. And I think this is why ICOs will remain as long as people are still engage and forever will be patronizing this organization. There are lots of benefits that ICOs can give.

You said it already that companies improve their ways to get rid of scammers. In this way we can have a better access to ICO and be always mindful in every input that you did.

Actually, a lot of ICOs are centralized... the projects themselves are led by decision makers, the token owners have no voting rights on anything, they usually just have access to a decentralized ecosystem. But the future direction, profit sharing and everything, are actually decided by the project owners. It's very hard to design something that has leadership decentralized. An example is ETH itself. They raised funds to build something but every iteration since, including right after the DAO hack, was all out of the hands of most ICO participants.

That said, there is absolutely no death of ICOs for 2018. It will only get bigger.
10636  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: McAffee will not like this twitter on: December 28, 2017, 10:01:46 PM
It's called clickbait, and shame on you Wink But all right, if I am to give you a chance, what are your credentials? Why should we give value to your assessments? I don't like McAfee at all but at least he has some sort of track record at knowing a thing or two about computer security. You can be free, you can even give us money and free crypto, but what makes your advice good for us to listen to?

Oh and, tell us what you get out of this? We're an open community here, aren't we?

I work for a big client (and myself) in active crypto portfolio management services. Once I have a free hand to publish more I intend to disclose a "balance sheet" where you'd see if those coins signals outperform bitcoin. Otherwise what is the point.

Yeah, McAffee does have very strong credentials in an important field and he is a good entertainer. I just wanted to point out the incentives seem to me not aligned which means his self-interest doesn't correlate that much with a crypto investor's self-interest => don't model after his selfishness (not a moral statement, just a reference to game theory).

Thank you for responding. I usually don't expect a response so your reply alone says quite a bit about your ambitions and intentions! Ah yes, that balance sheet will be extremely important.  A lot of groups or signal services offer some sort of similar portfolio, but none are actually 100% transparent - since it would open them up to all manner of criticism. But since you're free you should do this, there's not much to lose, and a lot more to gain if you actually do well! And exactly, what would be the point if not sharing right?

And I know about the reference, was just a jab from me. Keep them coming, amigo.

10638  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum To Be $5000-$10000 in 2018? on: December 28, 2017, 07:19:25 PM
Surely if bitcoin can be valued at what it is, ethereum can easily be valued at 5k within the next years. Considering how ridiculous btc fees are, and how any advancement in btc creates drama everywhere, I think eth should be worth at least half for being superior in a few ways (IMO)

But I guess bitcoin's rise is due to mainstream money, without really knowing much about it.

So I would imagine that is Bloomberg starts talking about ethereum as much as bitcoin, we could see a quicker rise.

And there we have the starting point for every alt speculator, pumper and holder in buying an alt. If Bitcoin can be valued at X, why not my alt? Crypto logic or asset-for-asset comparison, it makes every sense, but not every logic. I agree that ETH should be worth a bit more (if compared to Bitcoin's price) but then people would argue that what we think is benefit is actually downside.

Bitcoin drama is a benefit, that's decentralization. Bitcoin fees are high, that's demand, and mainstream use. Some alts wish they had drama, and high fees, no?
10639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My portfolio top 10 gainers the past 30 days on: December 28, 2017, 05:24:35 PM
Gains the past 30 days as of 12/28/17 w/ the dip due to Segwit2x fork...

XVG - 1,127%
TRX - 810%
VOX - 454%
VEN/VET - 335%
RPX - 301%
ENG - 269%
XSPEC - 248%
ADA - 202%
ICX - 195%
BNB - 181%

What's yours?

I don't have anything anywhere as impressive as this list (well done, I must say), but I've already cleared more than 200% profits on Siacoin, Waves, Stratis and Digibyte - but instead of keeping those profits, what I've done is return to my wallet all the original Bitcoin used to buy those coins. So basically, I sold off about half my holdings in all the above, and now kept the other half (some slightly more) as their own coins in their own wallets. Yep, I'm a small time holder of those coins now.

Very impressive, but what on earth do you mean Segwit2x fork? That was dropped.
10640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Don't listen to John McAfee on: December 28, 2017, 08:14:23 AM
He is right in his calls tho, some of does coins he called out are really good and very undervalued but I don't think it's the way to go... His calls are nothing but pump and dump... I just hope he doesn't call any of my coins as I like nice slow and steady rise instead of pump and dump and make people afraid to buy ...

Well, it's hard to be wrong in his calls when he's already backing top coins with a lot of documentation. Whether he truly knows about the tech and product doesn't make any real difference, just like all the thousands of experts making their calls. Maybe it's good that we now have a big pumper getting on to the internet and spreading his word. Let the crowds go and let them see what will happen at the end of the day. He just wants to contribute to trading volume, that will help drive Bitcoin up. He has a 1 million dollar bet to win.
