Is the EM Drive Is Getting The Appropriate Level Of Attention From The Science Community

There have been many news stories saying that the EM Drive will solve almost all problems in interplanetary travel, permit low cost flying cars and who knows what else. Other stories say that it is flat out impossible and we shouldn't spend a single publicly funded research dollar on it. But I haven't seen a single article with the rather boring suggestion that perhaps in this case the research community has got it exactly right. That it's not a perpetual motion machine, doesn't deserve to be dismissed out of hand. But it's far too soon to justify huge research programs into it, even if it is a real effect. We just have to be patient and see how the experiment develops. So, here is a news story to say - that. In detail:

http://www.science20.com/robert_inventor/suggestion_the_em_drive_is_getting_the_appropriate_level_of_attention_from_the_science_community-156719

Not really true - it needs to be tested in space, which means getting a package on a satellite soon, not in the typical ten years it takes.

Yeah, I'm starting to see the issues with mandatory evaluations, mostly that it would cost a fortune and not really be practical.  Seems like the best option is to use a law similar to NC is using, where you can't have one if you've been involuntarily hospitalized previously for being a danger to yourself/others
Generally the way these laws work is that there are federal statutes that are then set into state law (same with illegal drugs, more about this later) but the states can have more restrictive laws or in some cases, more lenient ones.

For example, in Texas it is NOT illegal for felons to own guns.  This is a curious historical thing, dates back to where there were legitimate needs for guns to protect against Indians.

Then when the state makes more restrictive law, they can be fought as against the second amendment.

Different than drug laws - Federal government is selectively taking a back seat to state decisions in the direction of more lenient.

Basically, looks pretty lawless to me.  Now who exactly was saying we were going to fix a problem with more laws?

ROFL...

Water is also necessary for life....but it can still kill you.

So true...so I guess we should do away we all water on the plant....or at least attempt to minimize it's availability. Damn, now I'm afraid to go outside on rainy days.

No, you need to just think clearly.  Better, just let your betters think for you.  They will handle this problem and you will not have to worry about it.  They will give you a booklet with coupons, and you can redeem them every day for just the right amount of water - so you don't have to worry about water killing you.

You see how easy that was?  Every day things just get better and better.

Trump is a candidate that I can really get exited for. None of the others really seem like a change from the status quo that will bring new ideas to the table, or even try to reshape the table or anything.

Trump is the last free man running. He says what he wants to say, when he wants to. The more that I think about it, he may even be the last free man in America. He doesn't have to change to get the donations to come in, or appease politically correct newscasters, or even get the GOP itself to like him. It's one of those runs that happens once in a lifetime and I'm not missing out on it.

There are a lot of people out there who wouldn't normally call themselves Democrat - but they voted for Obama twice.

That's had a whole bunch of negatives, obviously.

But is Trump the right wing Obama?

Is advocating Trump just as much a personality cult things as the personality cult that surrounded Obama?  (which reality has now collapsed, but it worked to get him power.)

Just speculating here.

Israel has announced it intends to detain Jewish terror suspects without trial as the prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, came under pressure to respond to the deaths in separate attacks of a Palestinian toddler and Israeli teenager.

Thousands of Israeli people took to the streets over the weekend to warn against a radicalised and violent fringe growing within the country, following the arson attack on a Palestinian family home in the West Bank by extremists and the stabbing of six people at a Jerusalem Gay Pride march by a suspect identified as an ultra-Orthodox Jew.

One of those stabbed in Jerusalem, Shira Banki, 16, died as a result of her wounds on Sunday. She had been in critical condition since being stabbed in the back by a suspect, Yishai Shlissel, who carried out the attack just weeks after being released from a 10-year prison sentence for stabbing participants in the 2005 march.

Signs held at the weekend protests read: “Hate kills” and “Homophobia and racism are the same violence”.

"Detaining suspects without a trial?"

What in the world does that mean?

I could see detaining arrested individuals without bond.  Maybe the translation was incorrect?

The thing the CDC whistleblower Thompson blew the whistle on was the study showing that young African American males are statistically more prone to autism associated with the MMR vaccine than other kids and the burying of that result by changing the study protocol.

Asthma is one of many autoimmune related disorders which has skyrocketed in the last decade or two (to the delight of pharma shareholders no doubt.)  It seems to me a workable hypothesis that whatever 'environmental' factors are at work here can affect people of African origin more than others.

FYI, I'm not an anti-vaccine guy.

But I'll take your workable hypothesis any day of the week over the assertion being made that our SUV carbon emissions causes those kids' asthma.

MSNBC Host Blames Climate Change For August Heat Forcing Obama Speech On Climate Change Inside…

'Mother nature may be making his point for him'

MSNBC host José Díaz-Balart called the decision Monday to move President Obama’s speech on climate change inside because of hot temperatures an example of “Mother Nature … making his point for him” on the issue.

The network made a move against left-wing programming by canceling three of its progressive commentary shows last week, but this was an example of editorializing on behalf of the White House showing up in an ostensibly straight newscast.

“A couple of hours from now, President Obama will unveil a new plan to slash greenhouse gases and promote renewable energy, all in an effort to fight climate change,” Díaz-Balart said. “In fact, it seems like Mother Nature may be making his point for him sometimes. Today’s event was supposed to be held outside, but with temperatures expected to be in the mid-90s, officials figured it was too hot, so they moved it to the East Room.”

Inside the world of green energy, solar panels are the worst expensive and inefficient way for it. Check the Practical Guide to Free Energy Devices on Google, there you will find lots of interesting projects: Magnet motors, Gravity systems, HHO cells, Pulsed Systems... That's NOT green energy.  That's Free Energy, which is different.  Green Energy is expensive and inefficient.

Free energy is actually the goal toward which Green Energy strives - for any amount of money spent, the energy production is zero.  One day, Green Energy may mesh with Free Energy.  We long for the day when we shall be Free of Green.

It’s time for America, and the world, to act on climate change,” Obama said in a video message released on the White House Twitter feed.

We did act on climate change, considering the issue and the science and the actual temperatures of the last two decades, and deciding there was no problem.

Why does anybody need to remember a phone number (except emergency contacts) anyway?

Then don't you remember your best friend phone number since you call or text him/her frequently? I think we don't need memorize emergency contacts in our head, just write in the note book, because it be used only in emergency case.
Before most people were literate, streets and places were described visually, not  numerically.

"Go down until the road forks, by the Boar's Head Inn, turn right and at the bottom of the hill you'll see the Skinned Cat - that's the place to get your hides tanned."

And there were boars heads and maybe, skinned cats outside these places.

Now fast forward to phone numbers.  The smart phone returns the paradigm to it's natural state - click on the picture of your friend, the thing connects to him or her.   The NUMBER is a carry forward of an intermediary technological necessity, not a priori a necessity.

So the argument may be valid, but can't be proved in the context of phone numbers.

I don't know but think about the possibilities with trains.  Just set a car tire and wheel up to swing in against the side of the train when it goes by, and hook to a generator.

10736  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obama White House says carbon emissions cuts legal under Clean Air Act on: August 03, 2015, 03:36:29 AM
The White House insisted on Sunday it was on strong legal footing as it unveiled details of ambitious carbon-reduction plans that are likely to be fiercely opposed by coal-burning Republican states.
Gina McCarthy, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), told reporters the Obama administration’s goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions from US power plants by 32% between 2005 and 2030 kept squarely “within the four corners” of the Clean Air Act.

The US supreme court determined in 2007 that this anti-pollution legislation, which was originally aimed at mercury and sulphur emissions, could be used to tackle greenhouse gases too.

But the Obama administration’s decision to tackle climate change by introducing new rules through amending pollution regulation rather than an attempt to pass so-called “cap and trade” legislation or implement a carbon tax has been attacked by several states, who plan a series of legal challenges.

10737  Other / Politics & Society / Re: So, which shootings do we call terrorism? on: August 03, 2015, 03:34:41 AM
Oh, believe me, I did get your point about the moral equivalency of "muslim terrorists in the USA" and "USA terrorism in the Middle East."  I do not agree with it, but I understood it.  Since the question was categorizing extremist acts, I do not clearly see that it is relevant.

Do you want to give "Muslim extremists who kill innocent people in the USA" a pass from slapping the "terrorist" label if they are not Screaming Allah Akbars?  Just trying to clarify your position here.  Personally, I really do not care if they are screaming Allah Akbar, or bitching about the Palestinians, the Great Satan, to me the only exception to "terrorist" might be if they were acting against an operational military group and were wearing a uniform of an opposing group.

Am I saying that there is a moral equivalence between extremist attacks that target US citizens and sloppy dronestrikes that cause huge collateral damage? No. That idea has some merit behind it, but I don't back it up. I have been saying that those are not the way to solve that issue. Torturing people in Guantanamo Bay is not the way to tackle the issue. I have been repeatedly saying that I'm criticizing our actions, as their results are largely limited at best and counteractive to our goal at worst. If you want to debate moral equivalency, or excuses for extremist attacks on the innocent, find someone who is arguing them!

Now, I'm not saying that "terrorist" is a label that should not be applied to violence. I'm expressing that in shootings in the USA, it seems that "terrorist" is quickly applied to some, not at all to others, who have similar extremist views... just of different origin.
Maybe and maybe not.  Some mass killings are not terrorism, they are just crazy.  I guess the ones that are intended to make some sort of political point would be clearly terrorism.  And some of those are not on the Government-List.  For example, the Allah Akbar soldier of Islam at Ft. Hood, Texas.  The US government classified this sick puppy as being a perp in "Workplace Violence."

How about that.

So what? The racist right-winger who massacred a church-full of blacks was allowed to buy a gun because of the insane laws foisted on us by the nra and its lapdogs. The right-wing nutter, Houser, had an arsenal of weapons he was able to buy under our current gun laws. The list goes on and on.
People who support the insanity of our current gun laws are morally responsible for all of the gun killings that are perpetrated by these extremists.

10740  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Larry Nichols admitted that he murdered for the Clintons on: August 02, 2015, 05:17:07 PM
I am not very sure about Bill Clinton. But it has been proven that Hillary Clinton was the mastermind behind more than a dozen murders. She has killed people (including her friends and acquaintances) to hide her crimes. The murder of Vince Foster was just the tip of the iceberg. Christopher W. Ruddy actually wrote a book detailing how Hillary murdered Foster (The Strange Death of Vincent Foster).

A.  Hillary is no mastermind.

B.  It wouldn't bother me one bit for it to have been proven that she was responsible for Foster's death.  But that hasn't been proven.  Doesn't matter who alleged so in a book.

Q1: This one was "Whether or true it's not.... he actually admitted to killing 15 or so people.... why wasn't he picked up?"
....
Well, why wasn't he picked up?  This would indicate -

A.  Secret agencies involved

B.  Prosecutors decline to prosecute for political reasons.

But there's no statute of limitations on murder.

Postscript.

On finding a transcript of this interview, it somehow does have me ROFL.  Here goes -

They sent me overseas to kill people for them and told me it was for the good of the Country. So when they asked me to do it for them in the States it felt no different. The real truth is, I did it for the money and I didn't give a shit about the women I beat and the men I murdered.  The Clintons are bad people and I did bad things for them.  I had to live with that all of these years and now I just don't care anymore who knows it.

Larry maintains the Clintons were into so many illegal activities at the time, they had to have a team of mercenaries made up of friends and state-troopers to cover it all up and keep them protected from the public finding out.  According to Larry Nichols, both Bill and Hillary were wild and out of control and both were relentless in their pursuit for money and power.  From running drugs, to the rape and beating of women and young girls, both of the Clintons are guilty of the unspeakable crimes.

When Pete asked Larry about Gennifer Flowers making headlines last week claiming Bill had told her Hillary had eaten more pussy than he had Larry said that's old news, and indeed it is … Larry had made that same statement on the Pete Santilli show early last spring.  Larry is adamant that Hillary Clinton is a "Dyke" and always has been.

One thing I know for sure She did have enough sex with men to have a kid, but it wasn't Bill Clinton's Kid she had … Chelsea is actually the daughter of Web Hubble.

Nichols and many other insiders claim Clinton began having sex with Hubble to gain employment at The Rose Law Firm which she believed would eventually advance Bill Clinton's chances of becoming Governor of Arkansas.

Read more at http://freedomoutpost.com/2013/10/former-hillary-associate-claims-personal-hit-man-admits-killing-money/#4LzPidIO511rKY2b.99

One part of this confuses me, totally.  Sex with Hillary gets her favors from Hubble?  I would think it would be someone's worst nightmare...
