1081  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Long Term Alt Coins on: February 02, 2014, 02:22:35 PM
OSC. it will produce just under 20 million coins in 7 years. it currenlty has a little less than  3 million after 6 months. it halves a bit more rapidly, but the stake period is 1 year, while still maintaining the 51% resistance due to the checkpointing. Its decent. probably will never be super popular. I may be the only one who buys it lol.

the block subsidy halves every 400,000 blocks so thats about 278 days roughly. it also has some peculiar rewards, periods where the  rewards are really low and periods where the reward is higher. It was kind of an experiment. I wanted to see if i could make a coin that i could predict the price swings on reliably.

right now the reward is on the highside @ 20 coins/block. i think the next step is 12.5 coins a block. so if you invest in this coin, now would be the time. probably better to buy at coinex as the miners there will sell it much cheaper than people will at cryptsy. this also makes for good arbitrage action if you are in to instant tradings.

having moved closed to 500k OSC, i can say the long term hold value is nice. it value fluctuates enough that you can make profit simply by being patient.

to see the network stats you can visit

http://coinbit.pw

or for a general directory with charts and links to all things OSC.

1082  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why have a bunch of the eMunie founders + familiar faces disappeared from eMu? on: February 02, 2014, 02:19:23 PM
Pretty much what eid said goes for me as well:

Lost faith in emuine, Lost trust in Dan so I left.

What I don't think is right is having an IPO before the exchange is done, if the exchange doesn't work then what happens to the price stability? We have always been told that the exchange will help keep the price stable and not jump around like the others. People should be made aware of this fact.

All u fucks have no idea what ur talking about, leave the business aspect to ppl who understand, not a bunch of delusional moron kids who think they have economics and ethics figured out by screaming centralized or decentralized. "Ooh we left because it was wrong, oooh im so ethical with a high moral ground, oooh but but its centralized, oooh IPO is not fair, the price wont be stable oooh its unethical ooooohhh" U idiots will lose out in the end, fucking idiots.

i got a beta invite, then realized it was written in java and deuced out. call me when its in something i trust(C++)

cryptsys problem is on the front end.

the front end servers stop responding, and if you're stuck on one of the ones not responding its tough shit. you have to wait on the admin to come online and reboot the server.

you can see what server you're on at any given time by viewing the source and scrolling to the bottom of the source you will see something like

Code:

<!--web1-->

btw, if you're on web1 right now like i am and wondering why in the hell its so fast, well its because the node process is rogue/zombie and you are receiving no call backs. thats why you submit trades and your balance never changes, though it has in the database and you receive notifications of your order being processed. its annoying as hell, but atleast its just a problem with the webserver and not the application.
1084  Other / Beginners & Help / ATTENTION NEWBIES: ALT COIN WARNINGS on: February 02, 2014, 02:11:40 PM
DO NOT BE CONNED INTO INVESTING INTO NEW ALTCOINS

99.9% of these coins are scams designed to lure unsuspecting newbies into buying them.

Scammers use many of the following methods to lure in people and trick them into investing time/money into these coins:

  • Claim innovations when nothing is new
  • Use forum spambot/ sockpuppet accounts to make their coin appear popular(Astrocoin, Quarkcoin, etc.)
  • Use marketing techniques(Dogecoin)
  • Rare(low block reward) to trick you into thinking it will be worth something, while they mine them all with their immense hashing farms.
  • Premining for Giveaways and Bounties
  • Claim that services "are coming" and "big things are coming for this coin"
  • Encourage users to request their particular coin be listed on exchange. truly innovative coins never have to ask.
  • Fancy Logos/Websites/Lengthy Forum posts to fool you into thinking they will support it.

In addition, most of these supposed coin developers have no real programming experience. They simply read a guide made by someone else on the subject of compiling and making altcoins.

Please do not add to their victim list. You are only lining their pockets by allowing them to scam you into supporting their 10 minute copy paste clone coins. In addition, there is now a website which can create and compile these coins for a fee making it easier than ever for scammers to continue cranking out altcoins.

If things like this outrage you, you can join the petition to have the altcoin board removed or new coin listings banned from bitcointalk at the following thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=438043.msg4893075;boardseen#new

It is the best thing for the community. this has been allowed to go on for far to long and is a detriment to bitcoin and cryptocurrency legitimacy in general.

Thanks,

1085  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptsy bad experience on: February 02, 2014, 01:55:00 PM
I like that coinex.pw and never had problems, but unfortunately not many people are trading there. And some serious coins are not listed there.

I hope they grow fast

actually coinex pw has had many problems, and still has problems from time to time. they've been hacked several times, thanfully they fixed that problem though.

the remaining problem is with orders showing up twice in the orderbook on the front end and more over  that they use node.js and will eventually be in the same boat as cryptsy is.
1086  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptsy bad experience on: February 02, 2014, 01:54:02 PM
well i'm officially in this boat as well.

the thing is the money isn't missing in their system. some of their front end servers are malfunctioning and the balance displays stop updating. if you right click and select "view source" in google chrome and scroll to the bottom there will be an html comment such as

Code:
<!--web1-->

which identifies the server you are on. unfortunately i've just contacted mullick and there is nothing he can do until vern gets online and figures out whats wrong with the server.

so according to the front end server i'm missing .35 btc and 1.89 NVC i attempted to sell, but according to the database everything is there. kinda frustrating and this is my main problem with these event driven node.js platforms.
1087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why have a bunch of the eMunie founders + familiar faces disappeared from eMu? on: February 02, 2014, 01:42:31 PM
this thread is all good and valid, but aren't you the guy who took 20 BTC in donations for a primecoin gpu miner and never delivered?

edit: i don't mean it to be accusatory sounding, but there was a guy who took a bunch of donations for a primecoin miner an dissapeared awhile. i was thinking it was the same screen name as yours but i could be wrong, and if so i'm sorry.

26 out of the first 40 "Recent Updated Topics" right now are about alt-coins.

I 'm not saying that the alt coin section should be killed but it's definetaly getting harder and harder to read something about bitcoin in this forum.

You can ignore the board in your preferences.

As i said i don't want for the alt section to be killed altogether. I 'm looking mostly for measures like the giveaway ban, to shift the main focus of this forum back to bitcoin.

But then again you are a prime dice signature spammer so you don't really care about what i said. You just want to make yet another useless post.

I don't see how what I said constitutes as spam, you're just being petty. I also don't understand how the alt coin section makes it harder for you to read about Bitcoin.
The altcoin section has served its purpose my friend. its no longer about about innovation, instead it just serves as a place for scammers to present their business models to unsuspecting crypto noobies, leaving them holding the bag on yet another clonecoin. this point is irrefutable.

I doubt that will eliminate scammers. There's always gonna be scammers as long as there's greedy gullible people.

but eliminating the alt coin board takes one of the scammers main revenue generators away(alt coin pump and dumps)

how much money you 'lost'?

I made like 10 trades recently there in total for 2+ BTC, and 3 withdraws, why they all went smooth? why they wont 'steal' my money?

I like this exchange and still didnt see any problems with it. Come back after update.

man you are working there , why would you steal your own coins?
get a life theifs....

Lol i love when newbies accounts start to accuse everyone around without any proof.  Its seems stupid. I still trading there without any issues. 3 btc trades withdrawn, all Ok.

Yes it is ridiculous. R3wt is completely open with the issues that are happening. I've gotten every penny back from the exchange. Stop smearing  Roll Eyes

as we speak i'm transferring funds to atomic trade to buy some blake coins. i assume financial responsibility only where i'm responsible.

Updates complete. 2FA enabled, rewards enabled, referrals enabled, ect... I'm exhausted must go pass out...

bro i heard that. been a long night for me as well.  sleep well!

Edit: I still cant signup/login for your website. something is amiss there my friend.

i also find the username/password requirements both ridiculous and pointless, and making it extremely hard for me to register. like the third time i've tried too.

Edit: Finally i managed to jump through the hoops and register.

yep and in almost every single alt thread, its a newbie/sock puppet account spamming to keep their coin thread popular/on the first page.
1097  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: OpenEx Closing for improvements[Postponed] on: February 02, 2014, 06:41:31 AM
Get well soon r3wt.

I have some chart code I have been working on, using google charts. Would you be interested?

I've got candlestick prices, and stacked columns for volume (showing buy and sell volume separately).

I believe for stability it is best to setup charts to use its own database so it does not tax the main exchange database, and I have setup for this.

The charts database keeps record of all transactions that occur for each market, and then it is parsed into the appropriate JSON responses via PHP, then fed into Google Charts via AJAX.

Edit: And separately, I have a PHP script that periodically grabs all the most recent transactions from the main exchange database and puts them into the charts database. Right now I don't have a way to automate this script, but maybe a cron job would work.

of course i will be interested, and that is a very good idea. let me know when you are ready to present this feature and the price you are asking.

OpenEx you made Skeincoin die  Sad
plz come back soon  Wink

i'm trying to find BLCs and SKCs but there is no where i can find to buy them??
You can find some SKC right here. But really be careful right now - the sell prices are pricey (shh they are mine  Cheesy) and the buy prices are insanely dirt cheap(shh they are also mine Cheesy). I would advise you to try to buy them in bulk from an early miner looking to exit  Wink

As for BLC... Google will tell you as much it will tell me  Wink

Why, did someone steal from the exchange? Don't encourage FUD  Roll Eyes

the double coin on cancel bug. trade engine was awarding double coins on order cancel. i would tell the reason why it was doing that but it was a complete rookie mistake and i do not want to hurt the person who made the mistakes feeling.

but naturally, when there is a rpoblem like that it takes a while before an honest person to come a long and report it, and by that time the scammers had already raped it.

luckily i was able to cover CGB, LTC, and 42 relatively inexpensively. DOGE on the otherhand has been a bit of a nightmare, and ASR too. the only coins that leaves is BLC and SKC and i can finally put that problem behind us. what really sucks is, i'm solely financially responsible, so if someone on my team makes a mistake or steals something, guess who gets to pay for it.

As I mentioned many times at the time of launch.
This coin was purely designed for a Pump and Dump by the Dev team.

All those involved were well known Twitter Pumpers and Dumpers, who created alt accounts here just to post this coin.
(even to the point where the same person was using multiple Twitter and BTCTALK accounts pretending to be different people)

Created a copycoin for as little as possible (and a $7 copy website), premined it, instamined it early on launch, paid for a few simple FACE services... pumped/promoted the shit out of it for the first week while they sold all their premine...

And now they are sitting back laughing at all you.
