Why is that whenever we wanna talk to people about bitcoin use case we are only particular about the earning of profit from it as store of value.
Do we talk about  bitcoin volatility to them.
Do we also talk about it to them that bitcoin can also be used as a digital transaction payment and how it's of divisibility meaning it can  be fragmented into units just like fiat money. An hedge against inflation of devaluation of their  fiat money.

We should try as much as we can to touch the various use case of bitcoin when talking to people about and not just that it's an investment means to earn profit. It's awesome when I read about topics of people sharing about the bitcoin knowledge to others but when doing so we shouldn't just dwell on the investment part.

1082  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin: The smartest investment choice. on: October 27, 2023, 04:50:33 PM
Recently, the vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway and the business partner of Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, made some controversial remarks about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency at Zoom's Zoomtopia 2023 conference. He called Bitcoin "the stupidest investment I ever saw", and said that most crypto investments will go to zero. He also said that despises Bitcoin's growth and that he would never buy or invest it.

People like this I don't have the luxury of listening to as a result of them not going same pathway with me they are just there to drain energy and because they ain't doing it they also want other people not to do it forgetting that it's not in their place to decide.

Charlie Munger has made his own decisions years ago which turned him to become a vice chairman of  Berkshire Hathaway, am sure in his start of investment there were people that talk him down from going ahead that it would run to zero eventually but today he's a successful business in his area of choice of investment.

In same vein he should allow some of us that have chosen the bitcoin path of investment to take our own risk in life whether bitcoin goes zero (which obvious it won't) or not life is all about risk taking, and bitcoin has proven over time that it's worth risking. Many of these Rick folks are just afraid that there would be more increase rich young folks at the top of the pyramid with their investment in the leading cryptocurrency bitcoin reaching it's market cap eventually and they keep precipitating propagandas to quell the adoption fire.
1083  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Live Sports Betting vs virtual Games Betting on: October 27, 2023, 01:15:24 PM
Virtual sports betting is typically a blind betting pattern of gambling that's how I view it to be, you don't have a clue on how to analyze the team's strength and weakness you're doing a complete guess work that's controlled by computers detecting outcomes of the virtual matches that's the reasons I scarcely play virtual sports bets.

These virtual games are being programmed by the site owners to their own advantage as they can easily manipulate the outcome of an event to their favour whereas in live betting you are seeing a physical challenge by both teams so whatever the outcome of the game is you will be convinced because it is actually real and you've watched how the game is being played so you won't have any doubt at all.
with live matches there are plethora of informations about a match to guide you the gambler in making better decisions (predictions) and you have all the times it take to make calculative bets  unlike virtual games that you are left with just 2-4 minutes to make predictions about their outcomes putting the gambler under pressure (what is the feasibility in you make calculative decisions to get a win playing under pressure) and this is the part the house has a hedge over the gambler aside from the games being programmed to play in a controlled way.
1084  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: As a crypto user isn't it sumtin to give a thought about? on: October 27, 2023, 12:45:23 PM
The fact is this is not a big issue, the government will not entirely banned cryptocurrency because they know what they can earn from regulating it (maybe adding tax to exchanges) and NITDA Offered scholarship on Blockchain last year November, though they can be Blockchain that doesn't have a coin but its shows they acknowledged the technology which cryptocurrency are built on.

Even if they later decided to banned cryptocurrency in Nigeria entirely, Nigeria bitcoin and crypto adoption will continue to surge and this may make us all adopt the use of DEX and non-custodian wallet.
My reason for this is from the fact that cryptocurrency is totally banned in Morocco but they are among the top countries mining cryptocurrency, while mining consumes more energy than any other sector in the country and so the Morocco's government is working on proper regulation of crypto. Also this as become many Nigerian source of living and won't just stop because the government says so in fact more adopters are coming
I am impressed by the comments declaring similar views expressing how unperturbed we are towards cryptocurrency adoption no matter what regulating policies the government throws at us to kill our morale.

At best what the government can do not to lose  in their quest is to regulate and not think of banning crypto activities because even with their already placed restrictions the adoption is still thriving in the country of which many young Nigerians have taken the crypto industry as a career area. Nigeria recently was ranked among the top 10 countries in the world with highest number of cryptocurrency users, this can only send a strong signal to the government that ban is not the solution but regulation.
1085  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / As a crypto user isn't it sumtin to give a thought about? on: October 26, 2023, 02:59:34 PM

I dey sure say some of us don hear or know of John Odidi, the guy nah one popular social media influencer and motivational speaker for we Naija and below nah him thought of advise about the recent FX crisis wey federal gofment fit impose exercise tax on parallel market transactions.

if you read through this article  you go get clear understanding of wetin John Obidi the try advise crypto users for the quote below to do think of a way out ahead of time make them be taken unaware wit strict regulatory measures we no fit bypass after now.
Quote
source:
Crypto will soon be ‘properly’ banned by this government.
Connect the dots.
The government is trying to get the Naira under control, and its current method of doing so is to control FX transactions.
It canceled BDCs and soon reinstated them.
It floated the Naira and quickly backpedaled on that as well.
Now, it’s trying to tax any FX transactions done outside its window.
Someone will tell them that crypto is included.
They will say “But Buhari banned crypto”
And they will answer “Yes he did.. but not entirely. Nigerians still use crypto exchanges to buy and sell dollar”
Point is… in order to be an elite Nigerian in these times, you must be 10 steps ahead.
Don’t wait until it happens and becomes a trending hashtag.
Design your response ahead of time.
If this tax reform is implemented in the manner the federal the try to do am e go affect we wey the use crypto in a very negative way becos the so-called reform is predicated on regulation of finance of Nigerians and not else.

So how unah reason this matta, make we tok of possible hints to use survive this plan.
1086  Other / Meta / Re: Why is Halloween not being celebrated in our forum yet this year? on: October 26, 2023, 01:49:53 PM
Since the author of the contest ChiBitCty never made it to be an official compulsory occasion that must be held each October of the year then it's nobody's business to inquire why it didn't hold by this time of the year. If anyone loves the competition that much they can sponsor it on his behalf  Grin

The contest is being abused with loads of merits farming alts of unintentional contestants so if it doesn't hold this year it didn't change a thing within the community. At least let some persons be disappointed and let the funds that would have been spent on the rewards be directed to victims in conflicts area that needs it more than we do. There's always another year for the contest if it's to hold again.
1087  Economy / Economics / Re: In times of war, Gold rises. What about Bitcoin? on: October 26, 2023, 12:59:27 PM
I've seen Gold market prices rising lately as a result of the current Israel-Hamas conflict. However, Bitcoin hasn't experienced any upsurge in price. It's still hovering around the $26k range. Something similar happened during the Russia-Ukraine war.

Is it because investors still don't trust Bitcoin as a store of value? Or is it something else? Please enlighten me. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley

First off, do you have any data to back up the claim that "in times of war, gold rises"?  I"m sure that true to some extent, but I'm not sure how true it is overall (meaning for all wars over the course of time).

Also bitcoin is in fact rising as we speak, and has been for the past couple days.  I don't think it has much to do with the store of value aspect, people simply panic during times of war fearing the worlds economies will take a massive hit, and in return people tend to sell off any sort of asset, whether thats gold, bitcoin, stocks or bonds.

I'm just not sure there's a correlation here.
The question op should be answering is; what would people in war be needing gold for while their lives is at stake of imminent destruction from an on going war? Those that have it would rather be selling cheap or exchanging it for food to eat for survive while the war last.

Is gold being used in the manufacturing of weapons of mass destruction that the demand for it should rise in times of war? Or is op just been speculative maybe based on a coincidence of gold price rise within the period of the lsreal-Hamas fighting.

Using the case of the Russia-Ukraine war that have lasted over 12 months now did the price of gold in the EU countries and other part of the world increased due to the war? These are just my troubling questions I would love to get a reply from regarding his post if op don't mind.
1088  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Live Sports Betting vs virtual Games Betting on: October 26, 2023, 08:15:53 AM

But in real live sports betting you can well be informed about the two opponents forms, their strengths and ability to win a match is not determined by a computer machine but by their current form and strength and if as a gambler you're able to get your analysis right your chances of winning a bet is great in live sports then your luck comes next. Main inference why gamblers make use of the virtual betting is mainly because it doesn't take more than about 5 minutes to get results in place and many gamblers are known for instant pay attraction games.
1089  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 25, 2023, 07:59:17 PM
3 matches 9 points for winning 3 times and leading the group.
Barcelona won without the injured Lewandowski. The victory in the third group of the group and firmly as the group leader was very detrimental to Barcelona. Jaoa Felix adds to the list of Barcelona players who were injured.
There are not many stocking stocks left that can be played by Xavo for several different competitions this season.
Barcelona currently has a lot of talented players right now, Like Lamine he doesn't play like a 16yr old  in terms of his decision making on the pitch with the ball and his intelligence always make him the better player in the game. So with the talented trio  pool of  Lamine, Gavi and Pedri I had no doubt about Barcelona winning their game today toping the group with complete points.  I am having the feeling that this Barcelona team would likely get to  the finals of this season's  champion's league for they are just so exceptional coming against their opponent with all force they've got
1090  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Just like visiting a cinema on: October 25, 2023, 04:58:16 PM
This have been discussed few times before and someone have to do it again maybe often, for those of you looking to become a gambler what is your motives behind it? To make money? Or to have some fun? Here is my advice to everyone of you.
I was gambling to make money, but I was taught a lesson. After the lesson learned, I later chose to use gambling to make fun because using it to make money will not actually make money for you but losses instead.
Only those that have got to learn through the hard way about seeing gambling as a means to make money can obviously read the handwriting and digest it without arguing about gambling not being a source of making money. Contemplating on this i remember a comment from a thread that was arguing about how professional gamblers have been able to make money and live rich through gambling which made me wonder how's that possible if they don't have another sources of income and invests.

Too much expectations by gamblers on their bets  to get a win and make them money is such a bad attitude that can rob you from enjoying and catching the fun that was supposed to be derived from gambling plays. And it makes sense to me whenever I see posts like this refreshing our minds about not too getting attached to money making through gambling but rather focus more on the fun side to be at parallel with the activity.
1091  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Michael Saylor talks about Bitcoin, and you WILL be disappointed on: October 25, 2023, 03:56:52 PM
You need to check the date, it was published on December 4, 2020, it's already three years.

I check his recent tweet, he's still supporting Bitcoin.

Own the asset, not the liabilities. #Bitcoin

Actually I don't really care with any influencers, he might change his view and support privacy concerns, just like how he hate Bitcoin and now he already own many Bitcoins.
we just fail to realize that bitcoin don't need these influencers for it to go to the horizon as many of us have expected. It's high time we change the belief system that it moat be billion businessmen like Saylor getting involve before bitcoin can do better, get better with price and expensive adoption.

Saylor didn't intentionally chose to adopt bitcoin because he wanted to he did so because the government had access to  his asset which got seized back then by the government and he felt the only best shot he has to avert reiteration of that seizure in future was with bitcoin.

Am sure if the government give such persons a better deal tomorrow that's in their favour  they won't resist.  Businessmen are forever in for any negotiation that still keeps them in good business.
1092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you leave the country or will you stay, stand up and fight for your right? on: October 25, 2023, 03:08:45 PM
Hey I am 66 my wife is 67. We are not poor but we are not rich.
I was born in the U.S.A. I pay my taxes. My mom worked for the I.R.S. 24 years My wife worked for the I.R.S. for 33 years.

I get 2 federal pensions from the USA government.
My wife get 1 federal pension from the USA government.
Our health care is directly linked to the U.S.A. government.

For me to replace all of the above I need 100btc at 34500 each or 3.45 million USD.

So obviously I am not fighting or running I don't have anywhere near 25btc no less 100btc.

So I am staying U.S.A. based and simply paying taxes while I report everything.

In fact I am now advertising a mixer and carefully prepping to pay taxes on my mixer earnings. I am afraid to use the mixer

service.

As I could lose my federal pensions

But U.S.A. does allow for free speech so I have  decided to do my part by doing a mixer signature.

I feel it does show support to people that want privacy and do not want poor tax policies.
You don't have to flee away from your country counting on all the benefits you have enlisted above concerning you. The truth is that if we decide to run away from our country because of a law made by the government that didn't favour us then that means we'll keep running never stopping cause what makes you think you won't encounter in future another unfavourable law(s) in the country you might be running to.

It's a father-land and that gives us more stands to stay and fight when things are going wrong, alien citizens won't fight for us. And another thing, having to go through the hassle and  process of adapting to a new environment starting a new life else where isn't so simple.

From what I have read the case is in court yet to be giving verdict (correct me if am wrong), so it's possible the citizens might when because it's a matter of privacy which is a right.
1093  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Careful scammers and hackers using mail spoofing on: October 25, 2023, 12:12:25 PM
Yesterday I received email from my own email saying that he/she has monitored every keystore and all the information about me is all gathered
he has sent me a Bitcoin address and told me that if I did not send any money in the form of Bitcoin he would expose my data has anyone received this kind of email?
What will you do?

  • For me the very first thing that I would do is change my email address password because even though it's not true, we should always update it maybe 2-3 times a month or what you prefer.
  • Also do a deep scan of your computer, but we should run daily scans if you really want, since sometimes we attach thumb drives coming from outside or download files, like freeware, which has a load of malware on it.
  • Also avoid entertaining emails that say you have won part of BTC and saying you have to click the link,. never ever do that delete that immediately I have received lots of emails like this be careful.

for sure lots of people have been a victim of this, a few years back one of my clients has also been a victim of ransomware, and emails saying they have your data, so be very careful about what you do, and never communicate with them as much as possible.
Who among you also received this kind of scam and tricks what did you do, we could also educate new comers so that they will not fall victim to this kind of scam and hacking.

wow, things are happening hackers are coming up with different techniques everyday just that I haven't gotten this sort of trick on me, and am sure it wouldn't work on me.

I'll just ask you to go ahead and expose the data you claim to have with you. Since they claim to have it what's the assurance that they won't continuously use it in blackmailing me each time they ran out of funds. So the best way is to go tough too by asking them to reveal it that's the only way you'll know if they're bluffing or not. And even if they're not I don't give a fuck. If I pay any ransom today , tomorrow they will sk for more and it won't end there, keeps going on and on. Don't negotiate with thieves, they're greedy people and never satisfied

As for changing of passwords now and then, I feel that's stressful and can get you confusing. I have a strong password and that suffix me stead of jumping from one weak password to another.

1095  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 24, 2023, 08:04:58 PM
Manchester united has been very very disappointing considering the fact that they don't have any point and they are playing at home. secondly the managers preferential treatment on players like rashford & Bruno Fernandes will do the team no good but anyways I hope the manager comes with a better tactics second half.

Arsenal have been great in their game in the first half despite playing away they still manage to lead with a 1-0 in the first 45mins, if they can continue with the energy in the second half they definitely going to win this game.
1096  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has anybody expected this? on: October 24, 2023, 12:04:54 PM
I knew October is usually a good month for Bitcoin but I never expected it will be this big. Well, this should be an indication that next bull market will be bigger than we thought because a lot of fundamentals are lined up to happen the same time. We have Bitcoin halving, Bitcoin ETF and the global political and economic situation that has create so much uncertainties in the conventional payment system, all are positive news for Bitcoin. Many people might resort to Bitcoin as a hedge. The future truly look bright for Bitcoin
The fundamentals  proctor a bright future for bitcoin price and amongst them all the most interesting is the bitcoin ETF that every cryptocurrency user talking about. We can only but imagine what the bitcoin price will value at when the SEC eventually approves the bitcoin spot ETF.

Just as the op asked who has expected this, I'll say no one did, even though we had expected bitcoin price to rise to $35k the expectation was not projected to be within an hour plus of $5k rise, this is volatility sweeping us off our feet.
1097  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin $5k rise within an hour plus. on: October 24, 2023, 11:42:35 AM
Just within an hour plus bitcoin rose by $5k which I don't think anyone had expected it in this way and it's a thing of joy for all bitcoin hodlers of which this rise has in addition lift the optimism of everyone's speculation about bitcoin bullrun any time soon even though the bitcoin ETF which in postulation  is believed to offset bitcoin price if approved is still in the pipeline unapproved.

Just to express my thoughts about this $5k upturn, inam having a hard time to accepting that a very close bullrun is underway if I don't see a corresponding altcoins price move with the bitcoin price move towing them along in every move. My resolve will be strong for a bitcoin bullrun when this happens else this is going to be followed by a long time dump.

It's just my thought, so you think about it and give yours!
1098  Economy / Economics / Re: Isreal and Palestine war and losing your wallet phrase and password on: October 24, 2023, 09:30:38 AM
Have you consider that you lose all your coins because the wallet phrase to your coins and PC burn in a war.
So what will you do if you survive after the war to start back your financial struggling and your crypto investment journey. Or can you get the coins back?
There's absolutely nothing you will do about it afterwards in as much as you didn't backup your wallet phrase in different locations but in one single piece your assets is lost perhaps for ever. It is for the circumvention such unforeseen circumstances like war, inferno, natural disasters and more that we are advised to multi-locate our private keys.

Like they say, when there's life there is hope, survival is quintessential which actually means you can put in more efforts start afresh  to making money again. Moving on may be hard  but that's the best option.
1099  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need advice on getting merits on: October 24, 2023, 09:11:52 AM
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking my time to read my post. Cheers!  Smiley

Most of the new members goal is to learn the secret to getting merits when they should be more focused on how they can contribute to the forum. Work on your knowledge sharing skills you will be appreciated by the forum members. It's like don't run behind money, improve your quality to the point where money runs behind you. The same thing applies to the merits now.
The secret behind merits in the forum is so inverse, you find out that those that aim for merits often don't get it whereas those that focus on gaining knowledge and making use of that knowledge gained to touch the lives of others by way of answering questions that weigh problematic to them and being meaningful in discussions engagement.

Merits isn't something you go after it will come to you from forum members when your giving quality to the community. Many persons with merits they have achieved will tell you the same collaborative story that they didn't expect most of the merits they got, they only dropped some useful information and somebody just saw it and merited it just like that.
1100  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there a formula for Bitcoin starters? on: October 23, 2023, 06:23:27 PM
Starting Bitcoin investment with little capital will be very challenging mostly if that happens to be the major survival option of the investor. And in cases where the investor plans on using the proceed to solve their needs they might end up selling when the price have dropped just to settle the pressing need of that time.

As experienced investors are there measures that can be imbibed by new investors with little capital to help boast their capital. Some will want to mention patience which I will agree to but in situations where the money is needed to meet an emergency need how to you tackle such situations. Your formula might be a saving approach.
Bitcoin is a risky investment with a volatile market that can fall at anytime and remain there for as long as hell. Resting on it in getting profit based on your own target  is likely you be frustrated that you be forced to sell at a loss when your plans ain't met but the need for the more is pressing badly.

When investing in bitcoin it shouldn't be an economizing thing in the sense that you don't have to use money that your survival depends on to invest into bitcoin. Bitcoin investment is not a compulsory venture if you don't have the portfolio to be invested now you can always do that some other time when you have amount you can afford to lose and be patient with to be profitable.

I consciously don't introduce people without  a job or a dependable paying skill to bitcoin investment and this is a concept I wish others will embrace to avert issues.
