1081  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: has any casino ever been hacked losing a lot of money? on: January 21, 2017, 01:37:38 PM
This was not a hack but a mistake, in the just-dice site back in 2013 which was a competitor to satoshidice (still it was early day in gambling and not many competitors)

Anyway, this dude got like 1300 BTC stolen from the site...

http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-gambler-cheats-satoshidice-competitor-just-dice-out-of-1300-btc/

But turns out those weren't real BTCs.

I dont remember any other big problems in casinos.
1082  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To Gamble or To Invest? on: January 21, 2017, 01:34:12 PM
Well it has been clear now that most investments aren't delivering that many gains compared to just holding Bitcoin and maybe shorting when it's an insane amount of rise in a short period.

Unless you have some good ideas to invest, better just buy and hold bitcoin and then gamble casually if anything.
1083  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2016/17 on: January 21, 2017, 01:20:43 PM
Real madrid vs Malaga: We know Real Madrid is a strong team, So I bet on Real Madrid to win
Valencia vs Villareal: Bet to win on Villareal.

Most of the time it's easy money when Real Madrid and Barca play with smaller teams. Only times I have doubts is when they play other high tier teams like Athletico and Valencia, and obviously when it's Real vs Barca I have no idea who to put a win at, but most of the time its going to be easy to guess.
1084  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: January 21, 2017, 01:11:01 PM

So you want to talk about the casuals as if they do not anything about boxing. But I ask you, was the fight organized only for the boxing experts and hardcore fans? Of course not or else it will not make any money. That is why they hyped it in the first place. It is more of a business and less of a sport these days. Gone are the days of the true great fighters like Hagler, Hearn, Leonard and Duran. Those fighters never disappointed amid the hype. Watching Anderson Silva in the octagon doing nothing is more entertaining than the Pacquaio versus Mayweather fight.

Accept it. It was one of the most boring fights in the history of boxing.

Haha although it's funny but you are true. I would rather watch anderson doing nothing but still entertain myself than watching that boring fight + mayweather won like what? haha are they serious?

But still the interest shows up when mcgregor wanted to fight a whore in boxing then after that if ever that mayweather would still won i would accept but he have to also get an MMA licensed and fight mcgregor inside the octagon haha.

I can see how the fight will happen right now between Conor and Floyd. Conor will go after his opponent around the ring and Floyd will counter. He can hit Conor and guess what? No knock out power from Floyd. If Conor can get one lucky straight to the chin that would knock floyd out. But we all know Floyd does not want to get it. He is there for the money.

Mayweather has been punched hard in the past and has resisted all of the big hits. People forgets he has a strong chin because he barely gets hit. Go watch more fights.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ofeqQ_ljCk

As you can see here, he has taken big shots, still managed to come back and win.
1085  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC hypothesis on: January 20, 2017, 07:48:07 PM
Since China has a massive effect on movements (though not as crazy as some suggest but still massive enough), with the three big exchanges there firmly behind LTC after BTC, will LTC grow in 2017 as the Chinese government tightens capital flow?

Potential wise I am more supportive of ETH but market-wise pricing might grow faster for LTC?

Just 2 cents from a learner.

I don't understan the connection between china thightening capital flow to a potential or hypothetical LTC pump... if people watn to move money away from their shitty governments, the same principle is going to remain: bitcoin is the way to go. Litecoin is not going to suddendly be used for anything serious.

I support Litecoin because they are supporting segwit, and I think it has acertain value as a silver of crypto, but I dont expect any gains beyond your average altcoin short lived pump.
1086  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: January 20, 2017, 06:44:19 PM
Mayweather versus Pacquiao was a disgrace and a big disappointment. All the teasing and all the hype came to what? Nothing but 2 fighters not really trying to win the fight. They did not deserve the money given to them. That fight was one of the reasons why fans have lost their faith on boxing as a sport. It is all about the money over there and the spirit of the sport is gone.

Boxing's loss is MMA's gain.

Well it was ok if you like the details in boxing, of course it was a boring fight for all the casuals that bought on the hype. It was all over the place, so a ton of casuals expected something that the fight was never going to offer anyway. Both fighters are past their prime, and Mayweather is too good at defense so Manny wouldn't be able to blast a ton of punches.

Overall Mayweather won, Manny missed too much. He got a couple great punches, but other than that it was never a real menace.

But what you have to understand is, they are not entertainers, they are athletes, they are competing... some fighters care about putting a good show, but others don't, they don't care as long as they win, and mayweather is one of those guys. Mayweather was action packed when he was younger, but as age creeped in, he started winning at all costs not putting any risks.

There is no way this fight was going to live up to the hype. People complaining saying, Well back in the 80’s, Sugar Ray Leonard and guys like that produced classics. But this is a different era. And as you have mentioned, they are already past their prime.

They are both great fighters no questions about it.. Both guys deserve praise and I respect what they bring to the table. Mayweather proved to be the better fighter, simple as that.

Casuals sure are always going to be crying about how all those hyped fights are not like the 80's anymore when Mike Tyson was knocking guys out in seconds.

There are not many brawlers anymore in boxing, boxing is much more tactical. There are still agressive and brutal fighters, but certainly not in the heavyweight division.

I think Mayweather vs McGregor could be the highest selling fight of all times (surpassing Manny vs Mayweather) in any case.
1088  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ICONOMI - Fund Management Platform on: January 20, 2017, 04:33:23 PM
What is a backup? You mean write your private key down somewhere?

in myetherwallet - download the wallet and keep it safe.

What is myetherwallet? Isn't this a web wallet?

How do you remove ETH dividends? You have to hold them somewhere? How do you recieve the dividends if you are holding them in Mist or whatever?

This is so damn complicated.

Just tell me:

1) How to LOCALLY safely store the coins (just like wallet.dat in Bitcoin Core stores the coins locally... I don't want paper wallets or anything, I want to be able to make digital copies)

2) How do you receive dividends? Do you have to hold them on Iconomi Platform thing? What's the point ICNX tokens?

1089  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Altcoins to hold during a bitcoin rally? on: January 19, 2017, 05:32:41 PM
So as we see, bitcoin is going back to 1000 dollars+ soon. Do you think there are any good altcoins to hold during a bitcoin rally to make more BTC?

At the end of the day, I don't care about USD, I want more BTC, so I need to have opened positions in altcoins to make more BTC (since im not selling any BTCs)

What altcoins are you holding? Will all they go red again?

1091  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ICONOMI - Fund Management Platform on: January 19, 2017, 02:57:20 PM
Two quick questions:

1) How many tokens there are going to be? Only ICN? because it's very cofusing with the ICN index, ICN performance and all of that. I think they should stick to only 1 token otherwise its too much of a mess to manage.

2) How do you store ICN locally? Do I need to download the Omni Core blockchain? how big is it?
I don't trust Kraken or any exchange long term so I want to keep them on my own locally.
Ive never used ETH or any token from ETH so I dont know how it works to store locally the proper way.
1092  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: January 19, 2017, 01:15:42 PM
Think about it. There is not a SINGLE altcoin worth holding long term in hopes of it going %2000+ ever again. So we would need to be looking at new interesting projects, but there are none.

I asked about Iconomi, but nobody gave a fuck to reply to me.

you think that ethereum cannot get to $200 or zec to $800 ever?
Zec was already $2000 close to beginning when it was highly illiquid; still, it is probably achievable.
I think that these numbers are quite possible, as is $16000 for btc. I am not sure yet about more than this.

the first few ZEC sold for $5900 a piece i believe ......
BTC ,ETH ,XMR etc are all capable of exponential growth but from 700+ coins id agree most are complete shit

ZEC sold at tiny volumes for such a big price. ZEC is a scam anyway.

ETH is collapsing and far from the ATH, doesnt look good long term.

These kind of attitudes make me want to buy/mine more ZEC and ETH.
Both of aforementioned don't rely on ASICs, so anybody with a GPU can participate, providing true decentralization.
Bitcoin (my favorite by far) has to stop being China's underling before it can go mainstream.
Eventually, ETH's POS (if it works) will make crypto less reliant on subsidized electricity in china and elsewhere.

PoS is weak as demonstrated numerous times, I don't see how anyone can see ETH going PoS as a strength.

About mining with a GPU... you aren't mining anything remarkable with a GPU, hashrates re too high already. What kind of gains do you expect with your GPU?
1093  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Klitschko vs Josua Info and predictions on: January 19, 2017, 12:36:02 PM
Draw is possible in boxing?

Yes, draw is possible in 2 situations:

1) The draw happens in the decision. This means judges give a 50/50 decission. It's a draw.

2) This is the crazy one: Double KO. Both boxers punch themselves hard at the same time, they fall at the floor and none of them can stand up again. Im not sure if this has ever happened in profesional boxing. It probably happened but its ultra rare.
Double KO is a rare feat and it has happened long back during a match against Ad Wolgast v Joe Rivers for the lightweight title both knocked them out but the referee helped Wolgast to his feet and counted River out and that was the most controversial decisions in boxing history.I have seen some amateur double KO videos in MMA and boxing in youtube which are really funny. Smiley

That's pretty crazy. One of the most controversial split decisions ever happened very recently. Adrien Ward vs Sergey Kovalev. Kovalev clearly won, but the judges gave Ward a win. I was shocked, and so I pissed off since I lost money. Those fucking American judges need to be fired.
1094  Economy / Speculation / Re: Jan 18 FUD: PBoC: Investors should pay attention to the potential risks of the p on: January 18, 2017, 07:39:57 PM

Good thing is people somehow develop immunity to this nonsense News of Chinese Authority FUD.  I do believe Government of China is accumulating Bitcoin in their advantage.  Releasing a bad press during uptrending price by an authority probably a strategy to accumulate cheaper price and presses on the good news next for possible dump of the accumulated Bitcoin during the dip.

It's so damn stupid that everytime the chinese authorities say "it's ok but caution with the volatility" they create the god damn volatility themselves. It's clear they are profiting from this, they throw the stupid caution message and buy for cheap.

Let's just hope that dumb ass panic sellers stop falling for it.

XMR hype is over. It doesn't scale. BTC still king of darknet and will only get better with Mimblewimble or whatever.

What's left? we want more BTC, but crypto projects suck beyond gambling for pumps.
1096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum future on: January 18, 2017, 06:17:46 PM

I agree, can't trust an asset that has so many hard forks along the way, but its perfect for traders that want to profit from pump and dumps, but then again, bitcoin is also perfect for traders since it doesnt stop being a god damn rollercoaster because it insta crashes every time the chinese government opens his big stupid mouth.
1097  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Can you trust ICONOMI if ICONOMI depends on ETH? on: January 18, 2017, 05:15:34 PM
ICONOMI seems like an interesting project, a trust fund of sorts where you trust investors to do a good job and mainain the token value up, so in a way, you are investing on a lot of projects by investing on ICONOMI.

The problem is: ETH is a mess. ETH always end up hard forked etc. It will happen again. Once this happens, all the ETH related tokens like ICONOMI, will suffer.

So how can I trust it long term? Why they didn't run it under Bitcoin blockchain instead of ETH?

Im also interested in buying some of this, but I can't take a decision if the devs are not responding.
...

Depend what communication channel you choose try write support ticket if you have problem.
If you ned conversation go telegram/slack and you can reach some of top devs.
Just because they don't spam on bit talk that not meaning they are not working on platform.
Yes there could be more info from them but if they got some deal they inform.
THey progres slowly they are investing like in Golem and stuff like that.

It looks stable after ICO, but devs can dump at any time, let's hope that doesn't happen.

NO - because they have locked funds for six months so they won't dump on you for aat least 4 more months from now for sure.

I see. What are the tweeter pages for the devs etc? that is also a good way to follow news (if they use it all). I was considering investing in Golem myself. Not sure how good it wold be to invest on this instead of investing in Golem directly myself. Im basically trusting a third party investor in doing a good job by holding a portfolio. It's interesting but im still worried ETH fucks up somehow destroying every smart contract that runs under the ETH blockchain, through hardforks and whatnot.

Have you heard of google? You are started this thread slandering a project you obviously knew nothing about and did not do proper research.

I did my research, and I see people complaining in the bitcointalk thread so that's why I ask what's going on.

The project is just a trust fund of sorts where you trust investors to invest in crypto stuff and do a good job, that's all. I don't see much more than that.

The problem remains: ICN depends on ETH, and ETH is a mess.

you mean the developer of this ICN? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=930382.0 maybe they did run away.
the coin still is listed on yobit, so you still can dump yours while others have not dumped yet. its your chance.
He is talking about iconomi and it is the only coin which is still in profit after the ICO,the rest of the ICO shares have taken a nose dive after the ICO and most of them dumped those coins in loss and ICONOMI is the only coin that gained so much traction and i am not sure what OP is trying to tell here ,i think they are on the verge of releasing their platform and i dont know if there is any delay with the launch.
Well by going into the ICN thread it looks like there are a lot of people complaining that the devs have stopped communicating with people...
