1081  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Strange behavior on: December 23, 2017, 10:45:45 AM
Hi,

There is a strange behavior.

After rig was running for less than two hours I noticed that the monitor was off. There was no response on clicking mouse. When clicked on keyboard the GPUs fans started spinning but nothing on monitor. After couple of minutes there was a message that Windows 10 encountered error and will restart. After restart Claymore got executed but GPU0 showing 0 hash rate and the miner got stuck on POOL/SOLO version.

GPU0 status: t=60C fan=53%
GPU1 status: t=54C fan=52%

Did hard reset and after that things got normal.

Any idea/clue about this strange behavior?

Looking forward and thanking you in anticipation.

Regards,

Rizwan

Have you checked your screensavers? you should set those to never options. try to check also your risers as they are the most probably culprits if you have any extras try to replace them, you can do also troubleshooting by installing a single GPU only then observe

1084  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v10.2 (Windows/Linux) on: December 23, 2017, 05:23:30 AM
Hello,
I was mining with claymore 9.8 & 1 card NVIDIA 1060 and I did some OC with msi afterburner, I was getting BSOD & freezing on windows 2-3 times a day, recently I had bought 2 XFX 580 4G & start mining with Claymore 10.2 using the command -tt 69,69,0(0 for NVIDIA), I lowered the OC of the gtx 1060 but i was still getting freezing in windows but no more BSOD, until yesterday the rig mined all the night without any problem then in the day the rig crashed on windows and the fan of the cards stopped and i smelled burning smell coming out from one of the XFX 580, i restarted the pc & I found that the card can be detected with gpu-z but when i start Claymore i got BSOD so the card is dead, now i am afraid that the same think will happen to the other cards, so I am looking for help to avoid that problem will happen again.
i was using "-dcri 30,30,38 -ftime 10 -cclock 1100,1100,0 -mclock 2045,2035,0 -cvddc 900,900,0 -mvddc 900,900,0 -tt 69,69,0" i got eth +decri 29,29,21 & 875,875,274.
Regards

Try to lower your clocks, and adjust your -tt to at least 75, are you using risers? the burn smell could be your riser as the AMD rx580 is a power hungry unlike the GTX, check your cables from riser to PSU, probably there burnt connectors out there.
I did test the riser it works fine, the card tested with no OC same problem.

Hows your device manager settings? are they in normal without any errors? I would suggest to do the test one by one, exclude nvidia first and let the AMD to be installed and do the mining. this is to isolate what may be the culprits. riser may look fine but in a while they seem to be faulty try to replace them if you have any extras.

1086  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any suggestions on mining hardware home builds for alt cryptos? on: December 22, 2017, 11:40:50 PM
I’m sure there are those suggestions, but still learning to navigate this site as there are so many posts I just don’t have 500 hours to read it all. If someone could post some links that would so very cool. Interested in mining Monero, Litecoin and Ethereum, and new comers I’m not read up on yet. Definitely not attempting to mine bitcoin. Thanks in advance for any genuine links worthy of perusing.

“Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.”

Probably the forum is too big of information that anyone be overwhelmed, just don't stop reading and exploring, you don't actually need 500 hours at once to get what you want to know, a filtering would do. Anyways, here are some information regarding the coins you want to mine.

Ethereum and Monero

This algos can be mined thru GPU and is way profitable as of today, Monero can also be mined thru CPU but not as profitable as GPU and algo flexibility

Examples of Premium GPU are AMD RX 570,580, Vegas and NVIDIA 1060,1070, 1080 and the Ti's

Litecoin can be mined thru ASICs, its not as complicated as above as you don't need to assemble anything or its a plug and play then configure setup, the challenged you could face as of this moment is the availability of the machine due high demands.
1087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Multiple Rig Question on: December 22, 2017, 04:09:18 PM
There are sophisticated hacking attacks that involves remotely configuring your miner and your Mining address has been changed, xxcsu is right the logs may reveal on the changes made, for the quick checking open your config file and ensure its your wallet address define, is unchanged, sometimes its a false positive alert, what I see is that when ethermine scheduled alert checks your rig2 miner it exactly mines on the Dev so it doesn't register.

1088  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What would cause a miner to become unresponsive? on: December 22, 2017, 04:03:09 PM
Been slowly building up my first miner, and at 4 cards it was fine, now it's up to 7 and it keeps crashing after about 5 minutes of use. It will hard lock up with the screen completely frozen. It's on 2 1000w EVGA power supplies.

If there wasn't enough power on the circuit to power both supplies, wouldn't it just trip the breaker?

Any idea what else could cause this?

It's on the ASRock BTC+ motherboard using mintcell risers with included cables.

I am suspecting a riser issues, have you tried replacing them? try only on the 5th card then test mining, if its still fine add another, you may get what GPU's is the Culprit. sometimes a faulty PSU and mainboard might be the problem, try to isolate them one by one
1089  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU hangs in OpenCL call on: December 22, 2017, 12:14:43 PM
I had to tune down my overclock.
Also, I disabled watchdog.

I got this error only when mining Ethash coins, never have had this problem with CryptoNight.

I am just wondering if you monitor your temps, seems -tt 65 is somewhat low, checked if it reached more than what is indicated in your config file, otherwise try to adjust it at least 75
1090  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Am i late to buy bitcoin now ?? on: December 22, 2017, 07:48:29 AM
Its not yet late, Its dipping now, and its very timely to buy today being late is in the vocabulary of people that don't really want to invest Bitcoin, this change is the most awaited time of the people who really understand Crypto Trading.
1091  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The crash right now as as big as the Mt. Gox collapse - but faster on: December 22, 2017, 07:40:48 AM
This change has also something to do with holiday season and most probably spending money for others and Fear to lose their money, It is now the advantage of True Trader, so honestly, time to buy people.

I'll go again get my popcorn Grin
1092  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Worth it mining altcoins with single GPU? on: December 22, 2017, 05:32:55 AM
Well I'm a noob so I don't even know if this is the right location to post this but...

I just got a PC with a GTX 1070 G1 Gaming and I am wondering if I could use it for mining atleast 12h a day (so I have more control over it if it starts overheating).

So I am asking how much should I expect to get daily mining with a GTX 1070/12h a day

According to whattomine for GTX1070, you should atleast get 4$ in 24hrs divide it by 2 should at least get 2$/day minus the power cost depending on your power rates. Please bear in mind that the computation is only valid today, it will probably changed tonight/tomorrow or the next days. so basically I am talking about a non-static or a fix earnings here. it really does change along the way due to mining difficulty

Quote
I don't really wanna break even my entire PC I just expect to get enough money to buy new stuff like mouse/keyboard/mic with it.

So is it worth it to short my video card lifetime to get money to upgrade some of my gear?

Nah, you can't easily break a premium card, temps can be controlled by doing proper clocks.

Quote
I am going to get any decent money out of it anyways? like 3 a day is 90 in a month so in around 3 months I can buy my new mouse/keyboard and in 2 months a new mic etc.

The computations above may get you now an idea on how much you could possibly earn as of today
1093  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Making 2000 usd / month on: December 22, 2017, 04:19:10 AM
Making a 2000USD per month today could be achievable with at least 18-20GPUs, 16RX580 would only yield on 1800USD as per online calculator

Whattomine.com

What is a challenging is that the figures only valid at this very moment, and will eventually change tonight or tomorrow or the next days depending on the difficulties and coin price, so basically, your 2000USD target per month would probably go down and go up Grin

1094  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ANYONE USING NORMAL FAN FOR COOLING??? on: December 22, 2017, 04:07:30 AM
I use 2 exhaust fans blowing hot air outside the room and an open big window on the side to let the fresh air in, its somewhat a good fresh air circulation from window blowing out and it saves a lot of power and a very effective cooling. I only deals with dust and filter them on window and just by cleaning them out regularly.
1095  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is this a good mining rig to start with? (Eth) Help on: December 22, 2017, 03:24:22 AM
Hello guys, I'm completely new to mining, just starting. I've read alot about mining but still, won't hurt to get a professional advice from someone who is doing this for alot longer.

The rig is:

GPU - 6x SAPPHIRE RX 580 8GB
MOBO - 1x Gigabyte H110-D3A
Usb - 1x 16gb San Disk
Ram - Patriot 4GB DDR 4
Processor - Intel
Risers - 6x
PSU - 2x 700 W Forton
Windows 10 Pro

It costs arround $3100 and it gets 186-191 hash mining ethereum. Is this a good rig to start with today? Considering Im completely new to mining. So I would still be learning while doing it.

Any advice is welcome, thanks in advance.
570 4gb cards get 29-30 for significantly less cost. You should be able to build a 570 rig for around $2k max (assuming ~$250 per card).

Thanks for the answer. Currently, there is only Sapphire Radeon RX 570 4GB D5 Pulse OC available in my country, which is cheapest from 570's and its $329.
And then there is again this problem because I'm new to this, there is no chance i could build a mining rig by myself, and I dont have any friends that are mining so I cant get help with that. And there is no chance I could mod bios and other stuff by myself. I would like to build a mining rig by myself, I know it's way cheaper than when you buy it off someone, I tryed googling and looking into it, I know hardvare, but no chance i could mod anything. I could build it but with factory settings which will be like 130 MH/s. I wouldn't know any better than that.

That's the real problem at this moment, Almost all AMD cards are overpriced in local markets and if not are out stocks, purchasing them is really pain in the *ss, online web like newegg however has a good offer but still its location based.

I would really recommend GTX 1060 if you don't have time for any bios mod on AMD's, pricing is almost the same however hashrate is lower on ETH algo but higher on other ALGO's.
1096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU OpenCL Error... Cannot Create DAG on: December 21, 2017, 02:30:51 PM
i continue to get this error on only one GPU, it's always GPU4.
i swapped cards around, i swapped risers around, but yet every time i get the same GPU4.
could i have a faulty motherboard?

Could you post your GPU types? one culprit for this kind of error is that your GPU vram mem is not sufficient for DAG especially on mining Ethereum you must have at least 3GB mem on each GPU, otherwise try to mine other algo that requires low memory. Check also your Virtual memory and ensure it has set to 16GB minimum pagfile

1098  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Would it be any problem if I ignore this at the boot? on: December 21, 2017, 04:29:58 AM
Hi,

I plugged in the GPUs again (because I was checking with one by one detection of the GPUs, now all [both] plugged in) and there was a message on boot that put 4-pin Molex power on the motherboard. Press N to ignore. I ignored the message and Windows 10 started. I immediately shut down the machine and thought of asking from the community.

The only thing I did before was just the setting of Primary Graphics Adapter as Onboard.

The machine was powering with GPUs before without that message and I am just wondering the impact if I ignore this message. May be its due to Primary Graphics Adapter=Enabled but I am not sure.

Note: I am using powered risers and two risers share a single cable.

Looking forward and thanking you in anticipation.

Regards,

Rizwan

Nope, you don't actually need those to plugged, you have already your powered risers and it will definitely do the jobs for your mainboard molex. its just a waste of cable actually, you will only use it when you're riser don't have a powered options or making use of PCI-e x16 slots.
1099  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help with a laptop on: December 21, 2017, 12:23:55 AM
you cannot mine most of the coins with a 1 gb video card
but you can still try mining monero with your cpu and try it with video card too
can you help me to mine monero

Mining with laptop is not advisable, Think of your laptop doing stress compute and 100% of CPU processing 24x7, you may end up frying it. If you do this by only just playing with it and just for a hobby then its fine I guess. however, if you're serious and want to engaged with mining, Go purchase a true mining Machine

Miner Balance will reimbursed in January 31, 2018

https://www.reddit.com/r/NiceHash/comments/7l3ry7/new_email_from_nicehash_balances_will_be_restored/drj9oeo/

Hope this time, they will hold on unto this and miners will be paid back

Nicehash created two balance on their Dashboard, Current and Old balance

So the previous earnings reflected to the old balance, I guess they don't have any plans to hide and they're serious to pay us back

Cheers!
