10841  Economy / Speculation / Re: Brace yourselves, there is FOMO coming on: January 09, 2020, 11:11:06 AM
@BrewMaster why do you believe that this was a FOMO rally?, because there’s no information available which suggests that this rally was because of FOMO. @panganib999 you’re partially correct because bitcoin prices shot up due to the rising tensions between US and Iran, and luckily there’s no war happening hence bitcoin prices are now settling down. In my opinion FOMO rally will begin once we’re close to Halving event, and I’m eagerly awaiting that rally as we shall see a huge surge in bitcoin prices.

Your thinking just shows how easy it is to manipulate people, they just need to sell the news the right way. People always feel FOMO (Fear of missing out) when the price is going up, and that is exactly the case now. There are people who invest in the long run, but also those who want a quick profit and only invest when the price goes up. These are the same ones who were buying BTC back in 2017 when its price went to $20k. Should someone officially announce that FOMO is starting or ending?

Tensions between USA-Iran are far from over, the war still hangs in the air - but not the one most think of. The real effects of halving (if any) will only happen in 2021, everything else is just foreplay.
10842  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: 🔥BTC✪DOGE✪LTC✪DASH✪BLK✪PPC✪XPM✪BCH✪ETH✪BTX✪ZEC✪XMR🔥Best Faucets🔥 on: January 08, 2020, 03:53:50 PM
Hey Sir
Can you add my faucet to the list.

Apologies for the late reply, but I did not have time to register on your site to check rewards, and I also notice that your faucet is not supporting micro wallet on which I have main focus now. There is no point to support 5+ micro wallets at the same time, this only make very hard for users to reach the withdraw threshold on each on them.

I will definitely check your faucet, thanks for the info Wink
10843  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Reduce 50 merit limit per post. on: January 08, 2020, 03:43:56 PM
I still find merits very hard to earn. Many times I make good posts, which I spend lots of minutes writing/formatting etc and receive 0, or 3, etc.

You are Hero Member with enough merits to rank up, now you only need to reach activity for Legendary rank. Realistically speaking Legendary members have no practical purpose from the merits obtained (in terms of ranking), so you shouldn't be too surprised if you don't get merits for your quality posts.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think a few months ago admin is asked merit sources to pay more attention to lower ranks, and I noticed in my example that some MS no longer merit my posts, although I do not think the quality of my posts has changed in a negative way.

Giving 50 merits may seem too much in some cases, but it is a matter of personal choice for whoever chooses to do it. I think the situation would be the same if that number was limited to 25, but the system is set up in such a way and we must adapt to it until some changes happen.
10844  Economy / Speculation / Re: At Which Percentage Profit Would You Sell Your Bitcoin? on: January 08, 2020, 03:16:57 PM
I have to admit that I try to keep most of my BTC for at least 5-10 years from now, because like some people in this forum, I understand the huge potential of BTC in the future. But on the other hand, I want to support BTC as a currency as well, so I spend part on various online purchases and payments.

I personally didn't sell anything in 2017 when BTC was at its peak, and I consider this a small mistake that I will not repeat the next time. The reason is very simple, anyone who sold 1 BTC at the end of 2017 could buy 6+ BTC with that money one year after that.

Since I am spending coins that are in some ways collected during 2015/2016, I have no problem with the profit percentage, it is above all my expectations.
10845  Economy / Speculation / Re: Brace yourselves, there is FOMO coming on: January 08, 2020, 02:56:41 PM
~snip~.

There are those who are over-optimistic about any price increase, so this moment is no exception, but it is far from the true FOMO effect when all possible media are involved in it. I think everyone is actually waiting for $10k to be reached again, just like it used to be the case with $1000 in the past. Although the situation is different now than last year in April when Bitocin exploded quite unexpectedly, I still have a great deal of reservations about this price increase in the sense that it is a well-orchestrated bull trap. This may not be the case, but investing in moments like this is not a smart move - of course, in the case of a short-term investment.
10846  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-06] Mike Novogratz Expects a Bullish Period for Bitcoin and Gold on: January 08, 2020, 02:26:51 PM
The whole article is based on one tweet, which really only represents the opinion of one man, but no one who is too important that his opinion should be taken too seriously. Anyone who has been involved in crypto for years knows that this and next year are likely to be very bullish for BTC, just for the reason that in 5 months we have halving, and that in the past it was the trigger for a big bull run. One does not need to be an expert to reach such a conclusion, but people like Mike Novogratz always take these opportunities for self-promotion.

I can't say anything about the price of gold, but if gold and BTC at the same go up, that means that investors are entering both assets equally, or that there are different investors, which is probably a more accurate assumption. Gold serves as proven value insurance in uncertain times for fiat, while BTC is definitely still not stable enough to attract investors who still consider it a high-risk investment.

xiurobert, when you posting potentially dangerous links put them in code like this :
Code:

This will prevent other inexperienced users from easily accessing the specified page, and that potential scammers get extra traffic. Secondly, you can use pages that check some basic information about each site, and this is some info about freixtrade :

10848  Economy / Speculation / Re: Trump's iran War Pump in BTC Price. Will it last? Poll. on: January 08, 2020, 11:19:26 AM
First off, let's not automatically conclude that the pump in price was due to the Iran/US fiasco. With that said, I don't think Trump's "Iran War talk" simply fades. It's not just a "talk" now, as far as I know a war is pretty much confirmed(correct me if I'm wrong). I know friends in the US that are now going to be deployed in Iran, with saying their hopefully not last goodbyes to their respective families.

With that said, let's not hope for the worst just for BTC's price to rise. Don't be that kind of person.

This whole situation between USA-Iran-Iraq can have an impact on the world markets, but not as much as the media overdo it for the sake of creating sensationalist headlines. They are pumping war story because this is hot news which makes them a good profit.

The facts on the ground are actually a lot different when it comes to the military option, which means that the US does not have enough human resources in the Middle East to invade Iran, and in the same time Iran can reach almost all USA bases in Middle East with its long-range missiles. For that reason USA is sending six B-52 bombers to US military base Diego Garcia (Indian Ocean island) which is beyond the reach of the Iranian missile system.

I think Iran will not provoke a real open war in which they have no realistic chance, but retaliation for the killed general will come in the form of some minor attacks on US targets or their allies.

Counting dead US troops in an election year would be one of the biggest nonsense Trump has done, and I think this whole situation is just a show of power that says "We are USA, we are the strongest and we can do anything we want"
10849  Economy / Speculation / Re: Now that we touched $8,000, what's next? on: January 08, 2020, 10:38:17 AM
The probability of hitting $10,000 is very high and probable once the incentive for bitcoin halving has been granted. Bitcoin miners from China keep pushing through since 6.75 BTC is already a huge reward and more investors are trying to keep phase with Bitcoin now.

There is no doubt that $ 10k will be reached this year, it is only a matter of time. Miners from China do what they always do, they make a profit and only that matters, and they can push price up only if they stop selling coins, which is not a realistic option because they also have bills that need to be paid regularly. They still get 12.5 BTC per block, and after halving reward will be 6.25 BTC, not 6.75.

Serious investors don't get into something when the price goes up, they know when it's time to invest. After months in which the price has drop several times below $ 7k (close to $ 6k), now we have smart investors who think that this is a good time. In fact, the moment to invest is not a bad one - but there were definitely a lot of better opportunities.
10850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: how to filter bounty projects. on: January 07, 2020, 03:57:57 PM
Please show me how to filter a good bounty project. I have participated in many bounty projects, and after more than 1 year now my wallet is a lot of junk coins. please help me !

Code:
Date Registered ; 05 June 2018, -> Posts: 350 -> Activity: 350 -> Merits 0 -> Position: Newbie

Without any hesitation and doubt, we can say that you spent your time on nothing, others probably made a lot of money (the ones you worked for), and now you can just be an example to others to learn from your mistakes. In a year and a half, you could become at least a Member or a Full Member, learn something and become a valuable member of the forum, which would be enough for you to participate in a signature campaign that pays in BTC.

My advice to you is to stop bounty campaigns, and use the New Year for something new, it's never too late for life changes.
10851  Economy / Economics / Re: Your Views: Which Innovative Ways Government Might Use To Expand Crypto Use on: January 07, 2020, 03:31:02 PM
~snip~

Looking at today's governments and the way monetary policy is set up, it's hard to imagine that in the near future we will see official incentives to use decentralized cryptocurrency, and by that, I mean primarily BTC. It is possible that such an attitude would become a reality if it were to encourage the use of a stable state-issued coin. Either way, it doesn't seem realistic to me that a government is saying that buying something like property is tax-free, since we know that effective tax collection is one of the cornerstones of every state.

We all know that BTC has been officially approved as a payment method in Germany and Japan, but even in such technologically and economically advanced countries, there has not been a massive adaptation. I think this is an obvious example that most people are still not ready for something new, and let's be honest, this new technology is still a little too complicated for the average person.
10852  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Connecting a hardware wallet to an exchange & transacting on: January 07, 2020, 02:13:21 PM
genesis2020, good thinking, if you are seriously entering the world of cryptocurrency hardware wallet might be the best way (most practical) in terms of security right now. Although you should keep in mind that the hardware wallet is as secure as the owner is aware of all the risks that come with it. Never type your seed (24 words) on your PC, e-mail or even take a photo of them with your smartphone, keep that seed in safe place + check every transaction on your hardware wallet display before you click send button.

If you decide to buy a hardware wallet, I suggest you not experiment with some new and inexpensive products, but pay attention to those who already have a good reputation, Ledger and Trezor.
10853  Economy / Speculation / Re: Now that we touched $8,000, what's next? on: January 07, 2020, 01:30:10 PM
At last something's happening, but it is possible that it was just a bull trap - Bitstamp is showing $7800 currently. A long period without significant price increases causes some to take the opportunity to profit (buyers who buy under $ 7000), and yet, on the other hand, some may think that the bull run has started and will start buying. I think it's just a matter of whether the whole thing weighs on the bear side or the bull side.

Personally, I think it's too early for any pre-halving effect, and that nothing important will happen before March or April, but the cryptocurrency market is one of the most unpredictable. The price is still good for investment, and I will point out once again that everything under $10 000 is actually cheap, of course, if you share the belief that Bitcoin is still far from reaching its full potential.
10854  Other / Meta / Re: Please don't reply to topics that are made for advertising purposes. on: January 07, 2020, 10:36:56 AM
Seems like you might have triggered something there Lucius... I note that at least one of those 3 is now attempting to claim they're just "sharing information" Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I think it's just another toss of dust in the face of all of us, because the intent is obvious. If you want to share useful information, then this information cannot be from a single source, so in the past, we also had a user who publicly admitted that he is working for a particular web site.

Please no. It's take a long time to clear the Press Board up. If you go back a year you'll see 5+ copy-and-pasted spam threads every day from users like Vladdirescu87 and ppblockchain. Even with users like the two I've just linked to above, we are generally down to less than 1 thread a day on average, once we've reported and trashed the spam ones. These threads should be trashed, not just dumped in a different board.

This was just an idea, since they post news, and we have Press board, it would be more appropriate to have it there, of course, if there is reason to consider it something worth reading. Under the current rules of the forum, nothing is unlikely to change - because several lines of text are clearly considered to be an exception to violations of the rules of the forum.

The best chance to remove them is if we catch some post without source link, or wrong posted link - which can then be reported as plagiarism. Press board is cleaned just because most of the abusers are banned because of plagiarism. The only long-term solution is to change the rules because I don't blame the mods for doing anything in these cases, technically these users are just using those rules to their advantage.
10855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You the local Bitcoin joke in town? on: January 06, 2020, 02:38:57 PM
~snip~

Friendly financial consulting is not something we should practice, because when it comes to money, even the greatest of friends and even relatives can become great enemies. Personally, I did not push anyone into such problems because I was aware that the balloon would sooner or later burst and that the risk of investing in BTC at the end of 2017 was simply too great.

Anyone who wants to invest in BTC is advised to first acquire some basic knowledge, to understand that it is not easy to be your own bank and to never invest money that is not ready to lose. In addition to the volatility that BTC has, we need to minimize some of the other risks.

Nobody laughs at me because I advised people to invest some money at a time when BTC was only $200, which was really good advice as time showed. Today when asked whether to invest in BTC or not, my answer is just "See the BTC history chart and ROI in the first 10 years".
10856  Other / Meta / Re: Did You Ever Send Merits In Error? on: January 06, 2020, 02:20:39 PM
This has never happened to me, I am always very careful with everything that has to do with cryptocurrency including giving merits in this forum. Given that I am not merit source, every sMerit is precious to me and I try to use it in the best possible way. In case I make a mistake sometime in the future, it will not be a mistake that will worry me too much.

I would very much like to give some people much more than I can, so if anyone gets more than my intention, then consider it a lucky bonus Wink

10857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee backs out of his $1 million bitcoin prediction on: January 06, 2020, 01:39:02 PM
He is an usefull person for the crypto community and at the same time useless as well!

I would disagree that he is useful for crypto, there is good and bad promotion, and JM is definitely one of those bad guys who actually use BTC for their own benefit. Some might say that it's perfectly normal for him to do it, because it's all just a business, but I think he does a lot more damage with such nonsensical statements that some take quite seriously.

Several prominent forum members have even supported his idea, presenting some models that should pump BTC up to the price of $1 million in 2020. We all know that there are real possibilities for something, that there is a possibility in the domain of science fiction, and that there are also fairy tales that are mostly believed only by children.

I hope everyone has realized now that a lie is just a lie, even when it has a seemingly very sensitive bet behind it.
10858  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: GDPR Compliance in Europe is enough for users to trust with KYC info? on: January 06, 2020, 01:21:01 PM
Still, users in BITCOINTALK are not ready to trust our exchange. What can we as a start-up or any start-up do to make people trust us?

Why do you think that users trust can only be gained by the fact that you use GDPR? Customer trust is gained over time, with good services that include efficient customer support, favorable fees (more competitive than the competition), and best possible security practices that include storage of customer assets in cold wallets.

Protection of user data is not the most important thing, users are most afraid of hacking, or what happened to Quadriga exchange. Ask yourself why anyone would trust you more than some respectable crypto exchange which has been in business for years?
10859  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying online with crypto? Its worthed? on: January 06, 2020, 01:00:34 PM
My main problem with crypto merchants is a lot of the time they charge more than paying with your local currency, like it's some type of honour.

I have also noticed that some stores have expressed prices in fiat and crypto, but paying with BTC is in many cases somewhat more expensive. In this case, even though the merchant accepts BTC as a payment method, it still encourages the buyer to pay in fiat. I asked a merchant in my country why it was more expensive to pay at BTC, and he replied that he is just traying to protect himself from sudden price changes. But he actually uses a payment processor to protect him from the same problem, so the situation is a bit absurd. I think paying with crypto is still a good way to avoid paying taxes (except VAT), and that merchant playing on that card.

OP paying with crypto can be very good sometimes, for example, if you buy BTC just a year ago for $3000 or $4000, value of those coins are go up 100% and you get more for your crypto. In case you buy BTC now and then use that crypto to pay for something, it probably won't bring you any benefits in terms of a cheaper price. However, I personally prefer to pay in BTC whenever possible, I see it as my small contribution to the promotion and adaptation of cryptocurrency.
10860  Other / Meta / Re: Please don't reply to topics that are made for advertising purposes. on: January 06, 2020, 11:36:59 AM
I agree with what o_e_l_e_o said, we can't really control other people from commenting even if it's obvious advertising. I've ignored many users here who always have crypto site links (names below) in their post. There is no point in replying because the OP of those posts rarely responds to comments. Some of these site owners even pay to have their links posted here.

It is a publicly known fact that some people are paid for the number of published links to specific sites, and abuse the forum by posting links in the forum, but still adding some content to avoid deleting posts. For me, such behavior is something I should sanction, but mods still tolerate such behavior. What's even stranger is that some prominent forum members are encouraging such users by giving them merits, and in doing so, they sent message to others that such behavior is perfectly acceptable.

Bitcoin Discussion is considered lost board (defeated by the spammers), and many have it on ignore. Let's look at some users' history posts : cheezcarls, DreamStage, cryptozink

The intention of all three is more than obvious, but if you report them on any basis, the report will remain unhandled. At least mods should move their threads to Press board (what deserves to be posted there), and everything else should be deleted because it is advertising in posts.
