10941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can people be buying eth right now? on: September 01, 2016, 02:07:54 AM
I'm not buying ethereum back yet. I'll wait for it to go a lot cheaper.

I am the same as you. There is no demand for it and there is now doubt with their development team because of the sloppy hard fork. Also the attempted dump of ETC by them also made them look bad because it really looked like they intended to destroy the classic chain.

When is the next developer convention for Ethereum? It would be good to know if the attendees are as many as the past conventions. That could be used as a barometer to measure the interest of the people in Ethereum.
10942  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Honestly, which is better? Monero or Dash? on: September 01, 2016, 01:56:09 AM
Although they both offer anonymity, I find Dash to be better lately. Apart for its price.
They also do have DASH DAO right now which somehow if going to be revolutionary and I like Amanda lol I wonder where they found her.

Dash's anonymity fails to meet end-to-end privacy standards, so offers inferior anonymity to Monero--pretty girls are hardly an argument for due diligence. Offering anonymity and delivering it are two very different things. Even without CT and kovri, Monero offers you the best privacy available--maybe you need less--cool.

DOA

The masses always catch on a day late and a dolla short. AFA XMR it has been so undervalued FOR SO LONG IT'S FINALLY GETTING THE ATTENTION IT DESERVED YEARS AGo

its gets attention yet the price still are not going up still. its what matters as what we users are up to.
it doesn't matter about anonymity/privacy anymore. bitcoin doesn't have that as well. if monero price goes up for maybe about $5, it may attract users but what other features does it have beyond that anonymity/privacy?

Anonymity is really an underrated "asset" in cryptocoins. This is funny because most of the people posting and reading in this forum do not think it is that important. Then what are you doing in a crypto based community? Are we not here to find new alternatives to money that can be truly be ours, that is not controlled by any government and banks, anonymous and free of censorship? If the price really matters to you more then it would be better to post more in the speculation thread.

Is there a web app for this? Or will there be one in the future? I would hate downloading another blockchain. What if I only would like to watch the videos or share the videos I have? If I am just an ordinary person on the internet a web app would be very useful just like how Steemit did with their platform. There are many people outside of the cryptosphere that is using it because the barrier for entry is low.
10944  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 31, 2016, 07:05:42 AM
lol i love it

https://twitter.com/Poloniex/status/770858288783196160

We're waiting to get clearance from law enforcement before releasing the WhiteHat ETC now that the withdrawal contract is ready.

gosh i love it

its difficult to undo a crime by adding a crime and a crime and a crime dig dig dig

What does law enforcement got to do with ETC and cryptocoins for that matter? Do they know what they are dealing with? Cheesy

Be careful when dealing with the authorities some of them are corrupt and would want their fair share of the ETC. Hehehehe. Grin
10945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 31, 2016, 07:02:02 AM
so ETC finished now? Dropped to 185k sats... will this one ever see a XMR type of pump? Dropping from 650k to 500k then 400k, 2 weeks ago 300k, last week 250k, now below 200k... what is next? 0 sats?

Price should not be used as a barometer for success or failure. In the case of ETC the hashing power is the main factor that will decide if it has succeeded or failed. I keep observing it here http://fork.ethstats.net/

It was below 500 GHS/s at one moment ago and I feared that it was the beginning of a big fall. But it rose back above it so we can relax for now.
10946  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: August 31, 2016, 06:57:43 AM
I am out. My frustration got the better of me. I am sorry guys I wish I could hold on longer. But my sudden mistrust of the capabilities of the Waves development team made me sell. I wish Sasha was more transparent even if there are set backs. As long as we can see that he can be trusted then everything will fall into place or at least there is the hope it will fall into place.
10947  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: August 31, 2016, 06:52:16 AM
ETH is really flat now. There is not much activity going on. The traders are staying away right now and it might even drop in price when some holders decide that it is time to sell since there is no more incentive to keep holding ETH because it remains flat. Would it be better to sell now and hold BTC or remain holding ETH?
10948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins potential in a year from now (List) (25/08/2016) on: August 31, 2016, 06:45:12 AM
I am looking for the next 1000 bagger like XEM and NXT. Do you have any recommendation for any coins with good potential. I see that many coins are overpriced right now and it may be time to wait for bitcoin to pump before buying depressed alts.

From current levels, and thinking of a 1year investment, my biggest bets are: XRP, BTS, LSK, BTCD & BLK .

All of them have a huge potential upside, but you have to have patience... Wink

XRP: Very probably big money injection from financial sector in the coming year.

BTS: Chinese pumpers coin, consolidated, low price, nice working features, to be pumped for sure.

LSK: ETH pumpers coin, will surely follow almost the same pattern as ETH.

BTCD: Iguana to come in a few months. Disruptive technology, much better than anything that already exist (check what's about), BTCD is the fuel of Iguana.

BLK: Chinese pumpers coin, consolidated, hidden technology already existent, huge acummulation, big pump after some marketing.

What do you think of Factom? It has made partnerships with with a Chinese firm called DataYes. There is also news that their new clients will be the Department of Homeland Security and a Wall Street firm.

There is a forecast made by MalReynolds here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=850070.msg16092497#msg16092497

What do you think of it? Is that possible?
10949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Has NXTs price peaked? on: August 31, 2016, 06:37:18 AM
@farl4web. I am sorry if you find my comments condescending to Ardor. It is not my intent. I am merely expressing what I have seen happen to most of the cryptocoin ICO. Even if Ardor is an ICO thru proxy it would not change the situation. Also NXT was in the same situation. It was going down in price and no one cared to pick it up until Ardor was announced. Will it be different this time with Ardor? I hope their development team will prove that it is.
10950  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which is more profitable? on: August 31, 2016, 06:29:43 AM
If I were you, I would try to get in on Z-cash mining. Likely to be more profitable than BTC mining.
https://forum.z.cash/t/crowdfund-gpu-miner/1324

When will zcash be released? Also is it sure that the current planned algorithm for the testnet will be used in the official release? That is the problem if you plan to commit resources to mine zcash. There is no final and definite word in what shape or form it might be released. There is also the "trusted set up" argument. If they go through with that I do not think zcash will be as big as we think because there is a possibility of fraud even if there is none.
10951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: XMR Monero price poll - what is XMR/BTC rate by Dec-31-2016 ?? on: August 31, 2016, 06:26:41 AM
My best guess would be around .006 - .008. It will be stable there for a long time after the hype. No solid reasoning behind the guess except maybe from what I saw happen from other cryptocoins that have gone up a lot in price. They always go down and become stable at slightly lower prices but at a higher price before the pump.
10952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of Work Altcoins News and Info. Make Profitable Trades. on: August 31, 2016, 06:21:25 AM
@kiklo. Yes it is looking like Coinbase does not care about litecoin at all and they only care about the potential fees they will get if people will start trading LTC in GDAX. It is a slap in the face if you are a true supporter of litecoin and also an insult.
10953  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could Monero replace Bitcoin soon? on: August 31, 2016, 03:38:03 AM
I think ETC will replace ETH before XMR replaces BTC.

But if you check out the price ETC is sinking rapidly compared to ETH. While XMR will continue to go up, there's 0% chance that could replace BTC.

Absolutely. ETC is shit, just another scam chain. I got my $ out of it , let it die!

XMR will be the future.  Cool

Axxo - is that you, the torrent dude? You will need to prove it if so. Good luck and thanks for all if it's really you! Cheesy

I do not understand. Is it not that ETC is the original chain and ETH is the fork? So there are people who thought of continuing the support for the original chain maybe out of principle or maybe profit, but how can it be called a scam chain when it was Vitalik himself who created it?
10954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It’s not a race, it’s an ultramarathon on: August 31, 2016, 03:32:48 AM
Bitcoin maximalism is a dangerous thing, but proof of stake just doesn't really work, and multiple PoW chains don't really work either.  The odds of everything going to 0 is probably much higher than any alts coexisting with Bitcoin in any meaningful way.

What if there was something connecting them in between. A layer of some sort like a decentralized exchange where everyone can transfer from one chain to another. If you want anonymity just transfer to XMR, if you want a store of value just transfer to BTC. Because for me it would be better for any cryptocoins to coexist than everything going to 0.
10955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The DAO was a total failure, but a more robust one could emerge on: August 31, 2016, 03:29:03 AM
We all know what happened to The DAO which caused a big sum of ETH to be stolen by a hacker, and thus it resulted into a disaster that caused ETH to loose credibility and separate itself from the rest of the crypto community.

All of this was just a result of security flaws, from with the contract's source code.

Now, I think that it can be improved on and emerge as a whole new DAO, but this time not on the ETH chain, but on the true original chain that is Ethereum Classic. If devs, take their time to analyse the contract code, they may be able to fix security flaws and make The DAO a reality on the ETC chain.

Maybe it won't have the same name as the ETH counterpart, but it could be a great way to make the "DAO concept" to become a reality.

What do you think?  Smiley

No. The Dao was a stupid idea from the beginning. Why would you democratize the process of funding a start up? That system can be gamed. Now if you think deeply about it Tual and the slock.it team created the Dao as a way to fund their own ideas. They had influence on the community especially that Vitalik would surely help them because he also has vested interest in slock.it.
10956  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: August 31, 2016, 03:23:21 AM
I have a question about Yobit's signature campaign but the thread is locked so I will ask it here. I just became a full member, does Yobit's payment increase automatically or do I have to inform the campaign manager?

10957  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will ETC pump hard? on: August 31, 2016, 03:18:07 AM
Wait 19 more days until DEVCON2 and see what happens then. That will tell you weather to Dump it or not. I am bag holding a bunch and I hope i dont regret it. I hope they stay Alive 19 more days!!!

I am thinking how much hashing power ETC will have by devcon2. It is now under 500 GH/s and it might still fall. I fear that it could be attacked and maybe killed. Also the attacker having access to his coins on September 2 will also be a big problem.
10958  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does anyone care if ICO projects have real code and real teams behind them? on: August 31, 2016, 03:07:41 AM
Most people don't care about the projects that the devs are working on. They only want to see their coins being pumped up to a very high value. Of course, the devs working on big projects will give potential investors confidence.

It is also the reason why many people lose money. They think that the pump is a real increase in price because of the cryptocoin's fundamentals. Many do not realize that all cryptocoins do not have fundamentals because it is only code. It is actually only a series of input and output numbers in a ledger. We only think there are really coins. Cheesy
10959  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is Dogecoin dying ? on: August 31, 2016, 03:00:32 AM
Is it not that Doge is merge mined with LTC? Maybe all that volume came from the Chinese LTC mining farms selling all their Doge. But agree with that chart. There is a pattern there and another pump is indeed coming if the pattern stays the same.

doge is merge mined with LTC and i know this from ghash.io when i am mining ltc on there. and dogecoin is not dying, this coins is preparing for something surprise for their super fans  Grin and then their super fans can celebrate it. just wait and see and don't forget to make big stock of dogecoin in case there are any increasing rate in future.

What surprise? Will it be another sponsorship gimmick? It would be better if they copy Monero's dynamic blocksizes. If Dogecoin can have an advantage in scalability over other coins maybe it can make a comeback.
10960  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ShadowCash (SDC): The Billion Dollar Baby! on: August 31, 2016, 02:54:53 AM
Many people have experienced interest in anon coins because of Dash and Monero. It is likely the price of SDC will go above 0.001 because of the hype. However, I don't believe in the hype as government and businesses won't support anon coins.

The main reason why there is a revival of the anonymous coins is because of Alphabay's acceptance of XMR. Dash has nothing to do with it. Dash has been marketing their coin for a long time here but has not created a huge following. The same with Monero before the darknet market news. But that will soon change.
