This talk about home advantage - we only had three, yes 3, home wins in 18 matches, 10 away wins and 5 draws. This is pretty unusual.

In 2. Bundesliga we had 8 home wins, 7 draws and only 1 away win.

No home wins in yesterdays Bundesliga matches (3-7-12 now) and 2. Bundesliga followed the trend and no team was able to keep the 3 points in their backyard Roll Eyes

I don't really believe in some pattern in Bundesliga, but just variance. So we should start to see some more home wins soon. However for today I don't like anything prematch. Leipzig looks like a banker on paper, also because of H2H, which is horrible for Hertha:

Interesting observation. Maybe these matches played behind closed doors without supporters really take away the home field advantage completely.

(...).

We haven't seen that many matches after the restart of the league but even now I'd say it's remarkable. I wouldn't place a bet based on all these (silly) calculations but it really shows nicely the influence and importance of a cheering stadium full of your supporters backing you up.

Yesterday was a bit better for the home teams, no away wins Smiley Bundesliga teams went 2-3-0 (making it 5-10-12 in total) and 2. Bundesliga 1-2-0.

As discussed in this topic you can't ever take away the home advantage completely, when one team has to travel, live in hotel etc., while the other is in their usual environment. But I think it's pretty clear by now, that a good portion of home advantage is taken away by playing behind closed doors. The (german hardcore) fans are not happy at all with these empty stadiums as you can see with all the banners being put in the stands. Not only because they can't support their team and go after their addiction, but because this is all so weird, when you are used to packed stadiums with great atmosphere.

Todays match between Stuttgart and Hamburg will have added virtual noise/fans during broadcast afaik and I am curious to see how it feels. Makes no difference for the players, but will maybe make watching this whole mess a lot more enjoyable.

Quelle: Soccer Manager Elite

Hab insgesamt 1.254 SMC verdient gestern.

6-0-1, with GD 26-8 is not too shabby, but Hertha has been killing it lately with their new coach (3-0 & 4-0). @1.35 not very tempting imo, maybe some over bet.
1104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk Poker Series format discussion - Let's keep them all in one place. on: May 26, 2020, 04:09:12 PM
Definitely this is the best option. We could just count the number of player manually in every regular tournament and then notify SWC about the extra 200 chips per player in the prizepool for the grandfinal

I do track the number of participants per tournament at the very bottom of the main sheet and one could also look at the worst placing in each tournament. The problem is, that SwC has to do some setting in their software, because when the entry fee is increased to 1,200 (including the 200 extra chips) and you have 10 players, the entry fees total 12,000 chips, but the actual prize pool for that tournament is only 10,000 for payout. So these 2,000 chips must not belong to prize pool and I don't know, if this is easily doable for SwC.

Adding these chips to Grand Final should be easy, because they sponsor it anyway and would just have to up the prize pool accordingly.
1105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: May 26, 2020, 02:08:45 PM
TL:DR: Tried to explain why I thought Werner could become top goalscorer this season.

Nice post and no need for tldr, because although this is a prediction thread, there are not that many predictions in here. So always good to read some proper analysis.

What odds did you get ? I saw 5.0 at Tipico, but didn't check elsewhere. Catching up 3 goals in 7 matches is certainly not easy when Lewandowski scores basically every game. Bayern has 4 games, where I would expect them to not score a lot: Dortmund, Leverkusen, Gladbach and Wolfsburg. Against Düsseldorf, Freiburg and Bremen they could score quite a few, especially against Bremen imo.

Leipzig has Paderborn and Hoffenheim, where I see them scoring some more goals. Against Dortmund they won't score a lot imo, the rest is to be seen. I would probably want more than the 5.0 from Tipico, more like 8-ish, so curious what you got.
1106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk Poker Series format discussion - Let's keep them all in one place. on: May 26, 2020, 11:44:47 AM
- We need to find a way to get rid of that 200 extra chips sending... I do not mean to get rid of the "extra prize pool" but about the hassle of sending those chips... If anyone can come up with an alternative... that would be greatly appreciated!! Cheesy

I see 3 alternatives:

1) All players send their extra chips after the 8 tournaments have finished according to their number of participations. Problem: You will have players that forget or have gone awol and efialtis will have to run after that money.

2) All players send their chips upfront and get refunded for tournaments they didn't join. If someone joins only at tournament #3 f.e., he would have to send 6x200 = 1200 for remaining ones. Problem: Will turn off newbies, that want to try first and people that just join from time to time for whatever reason.

3) Entry fee gets increased to 1200 chips and SwC puts 200 of those aside and adds them to Grand Final automatically. Problem: Is SwC willing and able to do that on a technical level ?

1107  Economy / Reputation / Re: Phinnaeus Gage account just posted. on: May 26, 2020, 09:40:37 AM
Not sure, if it was posted before, if it was, just disregard.

What caught my attention at the time he supposedly died was this:

Source: https://www.boersmafuneralhome.com/obituary/Bruno-KucinskasJr

I donated some funds to that address that he posted, but didn't follow what was the total amount collected in the end. So I just thought that maybe the funds weren't enough to cover all the costs he had calculated. Still I found it a bit weird, that it says "per his wishes", because you don't just change your mind (in a probably vegetative state) when some funds are missing. There is always a way to make it happen, when it's just lacking money.

So maybe someone just wanted to take the money, and didn't bother about giving Bruno a proper service/cremation.

If Heidenheim manages to promote to Bundesliga, I will stop watching football Tongue
lol why? we need some context, man  Cheesy

Hehe, I don't know, I can't stand them and the football they play. They come from a small city, have a small stadium and a small fanbase. It's just a very uninteresting club in total, that plays ugly football. Only Sandhausen is worse in all regards Cheesy

The Bundesliga has lost a lot of big teams with huge tradition in the last years, like Kaiserslautern, 1860, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Nürnberg. So I don't like to see these small-ish clubs promoting and taking spots away^^ Wolfsburg and Leipzig are small-ish too and they occupy spots in Bundesliga permanently and I don't see this changing in the near future. Leverkusen is kind of small-ish too, but at least they have huge tradition in Bundesliga.

Hamburg, Stuttgart, Kaiserslautern, Nürnberg belong in Bundesliga all things considered, but they are just poorly managed for ages already and the smaller clubs (Augsburg, Mainz, Freiburg) caught up and even overtook them. There is just 18 spots in Bundesliga unfortunately Smiley
1109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: May 25, 2020, 06:16:37 PM
@tyKiwanuka I don’t think that Biden will be replaced now, as he’s successfully united a divided democratic party ahead of the presidential elections. However if we were to assume a hypothetical scenario then he would only be removed if his loose statements continued to hurt Democratic party’s voter base, e.g. he has sensationally claimed that black Americans are not black if they vote for Trump.

Yes, with a gun to my head, I would also pick Biden of course. But in betting terms I am looking for valuable odds and I don't see any value in Bidens odds, so either the odds for him are fair or there is some value in other odds, since there is no house edge in the markets. And we also have to look a bit into the future and anticipate, which is not always easy of course. Maybe Biden will say some more stupid things, more scandals will get digged out by whomever, he could get Corona - all those things. The election is not tomorrow Wink

1110  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: May 25, 2020, 03:08:57 PM
I did not follow the primaries that closely and I have to admit that I am not an expert in US politics at all but isn't it already (at least inofficially) settled that Joe Biden will be the candidate of the Democrats? Does Cuomo, to have an actual chance, have to run as an independent candidate?

Yes, figment explained very well, thanks for that. The market in the screenshot you quoted is for next president, not democratic nominee. For democratic nominee market looks like this:

Source: https://orbitexch.com/customer/sport/market/1.128161111

So there is still some possibility for Biden not to be Dem nominee, just like there is for Trump (he is @1.08 rn). I opened that Cuomo trade, because of a) the health issues he has/had, which could lead to him being unable to run for presidency no more and b) for the little possiblity of the Democrats somehow wanting to have someone else to compete against Trump, because they see better chances with him. As I said numerous times, I think ANY candidate just a little bit more charismatic and a bit younger maybe, should easily beat Trump and I saw Cuomo just being that while watching his pressers every day, when the situation in New York was so bad. Now we also have c) with these sexual assault things, where we don't know yet, how it will play out in the end (not a lot impact imo).

As I also stated in first post, I lack deeper understanding of how this would all work, once Biden would step down for whatever reason in the end. But figment and other people explained the modus operandi and I would never stake a penny on that @1.15 for Biden Dem nominee above. Still a long way to go until November. That Cuomo trade is not looking good at the moment though and is in red Smiley Lets see, if I can turn it into profit in the next weeks/months.

(...) which is why we see so many players being broke after their careers end, (...)

Yes, it's very sad, but also understandable to some extent. They earn good money at a young age already often coming from a financially poor background. All of sudden, they have a lot of money and are overwhelmed dealing with it, because they never learned it. And then there is some competition going on in the locker room, where people brag about houses, cars, jewelry and whatever. So they probably feel urged to belong to that "club" and spend money they should better save for the future. Once their career is over, not much of that money is left, but they still have lots of cost with maintaining houses, cars and their general lifestyle, but no income no more.

Quote
According to a 2009 Sports Illustrated article, 35% of National Football League (NFL) players are either bankrupt or are under financial stress within two years of retirement and an estimated 60% of National Basketball Association (NBA) players, 78% NFL players,[2] and a large percentage of Major League Baseball (MLB) players (4x that of the average U.S. citizen)[3] go bankrupt within five years after leaving their sport.[4]
Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_finances_of_professional_American_athletes

This is really alarming. These people could be set for life, but lots of them are the complete opposite after retiring. Not sure, if something like that exists, but the NFL or the teams should make it mandatory for younger players to take some courses at the beginning of their career in proper money management.

And speaking of O.J. if you are interested it could be a good idea to watch the five part documentary O.J.

I did watch a loooong documentary about this case some years ago and enjoyed it. Iirc, it was just this glove that didn't fit his hand properly that made him being acquitted - always helpful to invest in good lawyers Grin But he still served some time prison anyway for other misdemeanors.

I really enjoy these documentaries and not only NFL or sports related ones. I spent hours and hours on Youtube watching videos about the Madeleine McCann case from Portugal in 2007, which is so mysterious until today. Poor girl whatever happened.

I will check out the other documentaries you mentioned.

Great post overall DireWolfM14 Smiley

The timing of his suicide after that radio show does raise the question about his own homophobia, but we can only speculate if that had anything to with it.

I can't help but think, that he hated himself for being gay. He was always told being gay is bad, he better not behave or become gay and all those things. How can you be confident with your sexuality, if you were always told it's wrong. You don't choose your sexuality, so how can it be a bad thing, whatever it turns out to be. His parents/father is to blame here imo.
1112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: May 25, 2020, 12:03:50 PM
Two rounds completed with this new "format" - what are your guys insights on the effects this all has on the outcome ?

I think the better teams with more technically skilled players have huge advantage. In a more or less neutral environment, with no atmosphere at all, these teams do way better due to their overall better quality in their rosters; even when having all the added stress with travels etc.. The difference between the middle of the pack and the bottom teams in Bundesliga is not that big, so these results are still a bit random, but Bayern, Leipzig, Dortmund and Leverkusen (!) are just in another league with these circumstances imo. Hertha is doing very good, which was to be expected with their new coach. I think they also can take some points from Leipzig home to Berlin, odds for that look tempting.

This talk about home advantage - we only had three, yes 3, home wins in 18 matches, 10 away wins and 5 draws. This is pretty unusual.

In 2. Bundesliga we had 8 home wins, 7 draws and only 1 away win. So completely different and probably closer to the norm than in Bundesliga. But results there are even more random, because teams are closer quality-wise. The two big teams Hamburg & Stuttgart have by far the best players, but both are struggling to get their act together. On Thursday evening there will be a crucial match, because they play each other. Guess all the other teams will hope for a draw Cheesy Would be ok-ish result for Hamburg, but Stuttgart needs those 3 points badly imo - and if it's just to regain some self-confidence, they look completely lost since the season has resumed.

If only they won 1 of those 2 games, I'll be sharing the prize pool with the top contender.

Well, thats no given, because a) that guy who won, could also have lost those bets and you couldn't catch up then and b) the other guys with 8 correct could move to 9 as well with you Wink

I finished with 6 correct picks in the end, quite disappointing, but there were really tough matches this weekend. Nevertheless it's way more fun with football than with eSports imo. Darmstadt eating St. Pauli alive was the biggest surprise. They are normally satisfied with winning 1-0 and just park the bus once they got the lead, but looks like they had some fun scoring at will basically.

Better luck next weekend then Grin

I will no longer participate in this event. JTisCuban really aggravated the fuck outta me today and ran that mouth just a bit too much. I'd rather play casually, then have to deal with his donk mouth. Yes I said that correctly, DONK. Dude gets AA and turns into a pro. I'm ok with a little trash talk, but this guy takes it to the extreme.

Good luck to you guys with this series and in future series.

Efialtis, keep my 600 remaining chips for the winners.

I think you weren't the most friendly player during this 1.5+ series and found some not-so-nice words about players, when things didn't go your way. That being said, we have a lot of different characters at the tables and also different skill sets. We have beginners, tight players, lag players, average players and quite a lot of very good players - and you are certainly one of them. And we have more introverted players, guys that never make a peep basically, pretty talkative ones and the extroverted (read: drunk) lads. And it's a good mix and everyone is part of this little event, no matter his temper.

Now you bumped into someone, who gave you some contra and you exchanged some arguments. No biggie imo, dish out and take on the chin. I mean, come on, you basically argued about a poker hand and who is the donk Grin Happens all the time at poker tables. No need to leave the series for that Cool

Maybe sit out tomorrows tournament and come back next weekend with a fresh mind. Poker is poker, life is short and there is no need to be upset about a little in-competition argument, where you tend to say some bad things in the heat of the moment. The world will look different tomorrow already Smiley

Gratz @SteamTyme, well done. That last hand was quite weird Cheesy

1r0n1ic you are really killing it lately. 1-2-2 in your only three appearances this series, chapeau.

I should normally have a field day this weekend, but boy was I struggling with these matches Grin These eSports matches gave me additional headache, so just went with the favs Roll Eyes These are my picks, good luck everyone:

SV Darmstadt 1898 - FC St. Pauli X
SV Sandhausen - SSV Jahn Regensburg
VfL 1899 Osnabruck - Hannover 96
mousesports (CS) - BIG (CS)
Borussia Monchengladbach - Bayer 04 Leverkusen
SC Freiburg - Werder Bremen
SC Paderborn 07 - TSG 1899 Hoffenheim
VfL Wolfsburg - Borussia Dortmund
FC Bayern Munich - Eintracht Frankfurt
FC Schalke 04 - FC Augsburg X
Hamburger SV - DSC Arminia Bielefeld
Holstein Kiel - VfB Stuttgart
1. FSV Mainz 05 - RB Leipzig
mousesports (CS) - MAD Lions (CS)
1. FC Cologne - Fortuna Dusseldorf X

Only four home wins seems a bit few in all those german matches and Paderborn/Freiburg/Sandhausen could easily not win. Only sure thing is Bayern, because Frankfurt is terrible without spectators Grin

Very good discussions and insights lately, keep it up guys Smiley

I totally agree with you here.  But, as I said, if Biden really is the best that they can offer after four years of Trump, that's a serious indictment and only plays into the hands of Trump.

Agree as well. It could be a walk in the park for Democrats imo, if only they had someone more charismatic, like Cuomo lol. And probably a bit younger for my liking. Age normally shouldn't matter, but Trump already set a record for the oldest president at inauguration with 70 years. Biden would put that bar 8 years up and his health issues were mentioned before.

But as we all know, there are agendas, nepotism, lobbyists and what else. I think Biden is or will be just a tool for certain people, if he gets in the WH. In general it's not necessarily the president/leader that makes the decisions, but people in the background - and this goes not only for the US. The presidents are just the frontmen/-women and faces of a government Smiley

The Cuomo bet/trade, which made me open this thread, doesn't look too good now.

I put some more on him @55-60, but his odds keep rising. He is a bit out of the spotlight with things getting better in New York, which doesn't help. Taking a slow approach with reopening the (down-)state is the correct thing to do imo, but not very well liked by a lot of people. It's tough to find the right balance and you never can please everyone.
